Cindy, I’m sure you meant to say UCSB keeps pace with Cal Poly (not CSUN) at 9-1. You can delete this comment after you fix your error.

Thanks for the box scores, Cindy. In checking them, the top hitters were Maia Dvoracek for Cal Poly, 20 kills in 3 sets, with the highest kill percentage above 0.500; Lindsey Ruddins for UCSB and Kashuna Williams for Long Beach at 21 apiece. CSUN was anemic, no double digits for any player in any category. It took UCSB four sets to defeat Long Beach. Saw only the tail end of the third set & full fourth set. Long Beach sure got deflated after losing a long, extended third set. For sure both teams are raring to go against UH as the latter will be preparing hard for both of them. This time UH has a one day break between them, enough time to rest and recuperate. Looking forward to some exciting matches.

Hope Jolie is cleared to play, 6 to 7 weeks seems about right for a bad but not season ending ankle sprain. Hopefully Wahine don’t need her Friday against UCSB and use her Sunday against Cal Poly.

Trust the process and believe in yourselves. Serve and pass well, block and dig everything, and lastly, enjoy the moment.

2, 3. What meant by ‘if she’s not ready, she’s not ready’ for injury occurred about EGIHT weeks ago? Typically, recovery period for full ligament healing in ankle injury to prevent a recurrence and to restore muscle strength for high agility ~ [ if mild – 2 to 3 weeks; Moderate – 4 to 6 weeks; SEVERE – 6 to 12 weeks]; It make sense if wahine continues w/o JR for the rest of the season. Dim hopes for this week against toughened table leaders.

Expanding on my previous comment. What I meant was that if Jolie has been cleared to practice/play, that would most likely mean that she had a grade 2/moderate sprain as opposed to a grade 3/severe sprain. I believe tomorrow makes 7 weeks since her injury. This would be at this point, first and foremost, good news for Jolie, and secondarily, for the team and fans.
There are only 6 matches left in the regular season and the sooner she is put into game situations the better (again without rushing the healing proccess) for her getting into match condition physically and to get back in sync with the team (timing, chemistry, etc). Strategically, if she doesn’t have to play or plays sparingly on Friday against UCSB then Cal Poly will have less to go on in preparation for Sunday.

Damaging the same part of the body, repeatedly, can hardly be labeled another routine recovery. Besides the recovery period, the rehabilitation process, the exercises, the practices, consideration for an ankle support device would be appropriate.

If Jolie were ready to play, there would have been an announcement by now because her presence on the court would undoubtedly increase attendance at the SSC.

#8…Robyn does not operate like that. Nobody knew Brooke Van Sickle was cleared until she showed up in uniform on game day so, no news does not mean bad news.

Jolie herself increases attendance?? That is kind of far fetched. As good as she is, she haven’t been here long enough to impact attendance. I’m going to bet the house that nearly 100% of the fan attend matches to watch the Wahine win.

Jolie is just a part of the team….just like Norene is a part of the team, Bailey is part of the team and every other player is part of the team.

new thread up for Wednesday scores.
    1. thanks. yes, meant Cal Poly
    3. Rasmussen not cleared to participate in practice yet. She’s in the gym but is restricted.
as for how quickly this type of injury heals, range is usually 5-8 weeks but she’s injured this ankle before so “usually” doesn’t apply in this case.
    8. i don’t think Rasmussen coming back has anything to do with an attendance increase.
