Game day: Western Carolina

It’s the home opener for the Warriors.

Because of a glitch there won’t be a new intro video, and there might be rosters but not programs. Other than that, Isa‘ako “Isaac” Sopoaga will be the honorary UH captain, everybody is relatively healthy, and the Warriors are seeking their fifth consecutive victory.

The Catamounts, meanwhile, are seeking their first victory against an FBS team. Period. They’ve never had one in the program’s history. To get an idea of what the Catamounts might do, go to Youtube and search for Arizona’s offense and East Carolina’s defense.

Please share your thoughts during the day.

Tough day for former Warriors: Marcus Kemp, Leo Koloamatangi, Blake Muir, Jerrol Garcia-Williams and Dejaun Butler were cut today. The hope is they will be claimed on waivers the coming days.

One of the interesting things about A-House is his collection of chips from casinos across the world.

I loved the intro video from last year. I wish they would post it on YouTube or somewhere where we can watch it.

CG…watched the game and the turtles played great! longhorns made too many mistakes and wasted numerous opportunities to score…penalties did them in.
Yes, our Warriors need to focus and play with discipline. WC has some good athletes and are wanting to pull the upset. Their O will test our defensive discipline.

Yes, NorthShoreFan. Ah. A game that Texas should have won, especially for this week. Hope the team is not too shellshocked due to Houston.

Terrible injury to that Maryland player near the end. Carted out. Hope he is O.K.

    Go get it tonight warriors.

ST do you know how many tickets have been sold so far? Hopefully there will be a lot of walk up sales tonight. Hoping for at least 30k fans to start shaking the rust off that building.

    Go Warriors!!!

Western Michigan is getting its share of calls.

Unlike Hawaii when they visited The Coliseum.

Or when Hawaii faced Xavier in the first round of the NCAAs.

If you don’t totally suck, fair refereeing on the road gives you a chance.

In addition, every road WAC game Hawaii ever played.

Maryland was 6-7 in the Big 10 last year, while Texas was 5-7 in the Big 10. So a Maryland win today was by no means an upset.

Now if it were William&Mary, that would be another story

    Mr. Tsai,

    kev-1 is correct.

Also, your “formerly known as Time-Warner cable” Spectrum flimsy paper that should have been included with your remote give a bunch of codes that you must needs program for your remote (please look for your TV brand. The first three or four code is usually the correct one.

WORST comes to worst—call Dave Vinton of OC16/Spectrum Sports. He should be onky too happy to send a technician to where you live hahah.

You get more situations just let us know here.

Good score right now. My prediction is still on track.

Could Hurricane Harvey advrsely affected ALL of Texas? Well, at least their collegiate football sports programs with the University of Texas and Baylor being significant examples today (both with absolutely unexplained, very unexpected losses).

The kicker? Both schools are WELL outside of the flooding and hurricane areas (Houston). 🤔

  53. cappie the dog September 2, 2017 9:42 pm

    Mr. Grease-

I am looking at a map of Texas.

Waco seems to be close, but out of harm’s way, barely, from the Houston area.

I don’t think Liberty is a regular participant in the FCS playoffs. Football is religion in Texas. Some of their fans must be on suicide watch.

I was superstitious about this game because Howard has the same number of letters as Hawaii.

    Yikes!

    UNLV is Howard’s greatest victory.

At least Hawaii has Iowa, arguably.

  60. M L Warrior September 2, 2017 11:46 pm

This Team needs to clean some things up or it will be a long hot day at UCLA!

  61. What? September 3, 2017 1:00 am

I was at the game tonight. Dru Brown did not have a good game. But, it was a win. This is 5 wins in a row dating back to last year. How many times 5 game winning streaks did Hawaii have in the in the last 5 years?

They did what they had to do to win?

On another note, I normally don’t watch games at the stadium instead I watch PPV at a relative or friends house. But, this season I am able to go to all six homes games. I didn’t realize the cost of food and soda have increased that much. A bottle of diet pepsi cost $4.75. $4.75? I took out $2 and did not notice the sign when the lady said, “that will be $4.75.” Next game I will make sure to eat a big meal at home just before kickoff and not buy anything at the game. Wow, times have changed.

  62. airinfall September 3, 2017 3:46 am

I understand that the vision of this program was to play with pride, but be purposeful and tactful along with playing with that heart and pride. A win is a win, but it doesn’t get easier with UCLA up next. #LiveAlohaPlayWarrior 🙌🏾🙏🏽🤙🏾

  63. Maddog50 September 3, 2017 4:15 am

Ok so a lot of things to shore up and cleanup. Confident this will occur. So much for live streaming, so disgusted it’s not funny. Watched a lot of the UNLV-Howard debacle. Coaching staff at UNLV will have a tough time explaining that one. UNLV has some speed and talent but they looked and played disinterested all night long. So now we go to UCLA-gone be parked in front of TV to catch that one-GoWarriors!!!!

  64. Dennis Halloran September 3, 2017 6:59 am

I was able to get my Alma Mater, University of San Diego on Stadium streaming on my Apple Tablet but not Hawaii

  65. Boolakanaka September 3, 2017 7:04 am

Yup, Maddog, Sanchez at UNLV bares a lot of resemblance to the profound mediocre years at Norte Dame, with Gerry Faust. Faust had 4 national HS championships prior to his sad tenure at ND. Such a big big leap from HS to college….and usually never ends well.

  66. Old School Dave September 3, 2017 7:44 am

Congrats to the Warriors on win #2. Still a lot to work on and I’m sure Coach Rolo is the first to admit this. Looking forward to the Rose Bowl next week. The Bruins are chalking up this game with UH as a win, already.

LSU played a somewhat sloppy game, but still overpowered BYU. As usual, a BYU player was ejected for targeting. Karl Malone’s son (Hapa – Filipino/African American) is a starter on the O-Line for the Tigers.

Not a robot, but feel like one sometimes.

  67. What? September 3, 2017 8:14 am

Sorry, I meant they did what they had to do to win!

    Great start for Hawaii!

  68. Mytake September 3, 2017 8:20 am

Went to the game. Sparse crowd. I’m pretty sure the $9 and $10 beers are a crowd killer. I don’t mind paying for the $30 ticket because is helps the program but, they get nothing from the beer sales. The price is a total ripoff. And the food sucks.

  69. Chicken Grease September 3, 2017 8:37 am

I have no idea why certain coaches have to apply athlete-class celebration to players returning from the field.

Note to coaches: you are not the athlete.

Well. A disclocated lesson was learned last night in Halawa 🙄.

  70. Chicken Grease September 3, 2017 8:44 am

Seems Rolo wasn’t exactly happy with the Warriors’ perfomance last night. Or perhaps in a hurry. When Veneri brother asked Coach a post-game question regarding team play improvement onna 1420am coverage last night, Rolo goes, “where do you wanna start?” and then visible silence afterward.

Hope Veneri brother is not habuts. 🤔

Would like to see stubblefield and Bernard get touches, we’ll need unga at ucla to be a constant threat.

  74. al September 3, 2017 9:34 am

    My question for Rolo…
    Firstly, congratulations on the win.

My question or concern is that why on defense are we so obsessed with trying to strip the ball (too much)? Instead of making a clean tackle, thus we are giving up too much YAC or in many cases a missed tackle. I am sure a review of game film will reveal such.

    Mahalo,
    Al

  75. Boolakanaka September 3, 2017 9:52 am

On NFL news, both Marcus Kemp and Leo K, were named to the practice squad of their respective squads.

  76. Masatoshi-san September 3, 2017 9:57 am

Kemp & Koloamatangi made the Chiefs and Lions practice squads.

  77. AllG September 3, 2017 10:07 am

Anyone know if Stubblefield is healthy? Haven’t seen him at all the first 2 games. We could definitely use his speed. Timoteo seems like he is having difficultly separating from the DBs not sure he is quite ready yet. Freddy Holly looked good we like to see him get a few more touches to spell DSJ during games. McDonald had a rough debut in my opinion, hopefully Brown stays healthy!

  78. bg September 3, 2017 10:39 am

Went to the stadium last night after missing out for the past 3 seasons. Started the afternoon with the Tsaiko tailgate and talked about shared Tsaiko experiences that I’ve held dear through the years. Such a unique and caring bunch of folks that I’ve had the privilege to know. There are still many that I missed at the tailgate for one reason or other…off-island, some are off-nation, but the relationships are still there. Special thanks to Sailor Blue and Mrs Blue for the unbelievable job they do in every aspect of the tailgate. They literally bring so much of everything to make it a special evening! We were so blessed that they walked into our lives.

I am unabashedly basking in the fame and glory to two consecutive predict the scores wins. It’s hard not to let it go to my head and start a betting service…but alas, it’s too much work for a retiree, so I’ll just reveal my secret. I take my best case scenario and my worst case scenario and go half-way in between. Of course, I’m just starting up a business selling time-shares in the Golden Gate Bridge and will gladly sell as many as needed if there are any believers out there…. hahahahaha

    bg
