Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Happy New Year; McLachlin named UCLA men’s assistant

The UH men went in the arena this afternoon, one practice. Guessing the starting lineup will be> Joe Worsley, Gage Worsley, Dalton Solbrig, Patrick Gasman, Stijn van Tilburg, Colton Cowell, Rado Parapunov. But also Brett Rosenmeier is there as well. Warriors picked No. 2 in Big West preseason poll

Defending national champion Long Beach State was picked to repeat as Big West men’s volleyball champ. The 49es received all six first-place votes, for 36 points. Hawaii was at No. 2 (28 points), UC Irvine at 3 (16) followed by UCSB (16), CSUN (11) and UC San Diego (9). Hawaii will be the host of the 2019 Big West Tournament. From USA Volleyball A team of beach players added a few layers and won the first U.S. medal in snow volleyball on Saturday, winning gold on the Moscow stop of the 2019 CEV Snow Volleyball Tour. Three former University of Hawaii volleyball players have been named to the U.S. team that will compete in this week’s inagural snow volleyball tournament in Moscow.
