It’s halftime in the season, Warrior fans.

Will you support? You are not “cool aid” drinkers; besides, you have more class and higher taste in libation. You are willing to accord a reasonable amount — which is earned by him — of trust in Chow.

Or will you merely complain, yak yak? Are you the same people who think the Middle St. merge “perfect. Just leave it as is.”? Find love, for Pete’s sake. Find true love.

    “. . . There’s no fate but what we make for ourselves . . .” — Sarah Connor

“President Obama also inherited . . . the greatest country in the world . . . what he did with what he inherited made the problem worse . . . the problem is not with what he inherited.” — Mitt Romney, 10/26/2012 speech at Ames, Iowa.

You can order UH Warriors vs. CSU Tatonkas game via Oceanic digital channel 254; on this channel, the following currently shows:

    UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII

    2012 PAY PER VIEW

    Football >. . . . @Colorado State. 10/27/2012. 1:00 PM

You order the game on this channel . . . the game is actually shown on Oceanic digital channel 255. Come on, Oceanic. Just do e’ryt’ing on ONE channel.

At that same time (1PM this Saturday), one Slippery Rock at California (Pa.) College football game will be shown on FCS Atlantic, Oceanic digital ch. 244. Love to see what Slippery Rock’s mascot is.

You know SAWARRIOR . . . it seemed the Administration knew the attack was going on in real time. In any case, those released emails are da(ning. Romney’s TV ads of these last few days ’til Nov. 6 should be the ones who expose ‘zactly what the White House knew about the Benghazi attack, soup to nuts.

  11. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 7:28 am

    10. i look on different news sites, CNN, MSNBC, BBC etc… the story is buried or not reported at all. i have friends that neva even heard of Benghazi. so sad.

That is just a dusting of snow. The Airforce game may have real snow.

Both games going to be cold. 5 pm start at CSU equals 30 degrees or less…..

Anyone know anything about the UH weights program? Those coaches any good? Hearing it is WEAK and that could be a sign of a weak staff!! It all starts in the weight room.

  18. Shoko October 26, 2012 7:42 am

    12. It’s a oped piece that is not carried by all news networks, as its more of a opinion-based editorial.

  19. Shoko October 26, 2012 7:43 am

    However, it was an interesting.

  20. Shoko October 26, 2012 7:45 am

Regarding online streams, First Row is a website this is hit or miss. Whether its streamed depends on whether someone that gets Root Sports will actually take the time to stream through the First Row website. Since Hawaii-CSU game is not a high-profile game, interest might be very low. Hence, a free stream is unlikely for the Warriors upcoming game.

  21. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 7:45 am

    19. sorry bro, the Benghazi attack is not opinion based.

  22. Chicken Grease October 26, 2012 7:46 am

Today’s 10/26/2012 The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is also reporting (page C8, ON THE AIR portion) Saturday’s UH v. CSU game on Oceanic Pay-Per-View:

  23. Shoko October 26, 2012 7:57 am

    22. Not saying the the Benghazi attack is an opinion. The story you referenced is an oped piece that was picked up by a magazine that was willing to print it. When you mentioned CNN, MSNBC, or BBC that didn’t pick up the story, I merely pointed out the fact that as an oped story, its not exactly objective reporting and hence, was not picked up by major networks.

  24. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:02 am

    Whew… hot and *****y morning…

You know where its NOT hot? Inside the Stan Sheriff Center. Come down to cool off and for $7.00 general seating you can see the new Rainbow Wahine basketballers debut against UH Hilo in an exhibition game.

  25. lopaka43 October 26, 2012 8:03 am

    Aloha, Tsaikos!

Back from lurking to ask that you not bring your politcs on this blog. It really is not one of the Fs and it only sparks endless back and forth wrangling that has nothing to do with why most of us love this corner of the internet, the fact that it has been for the most part, like a virtual tailgate party at Richardson Field with local style talk about football, friends, food, more food, Gigi’s Rhoomba, fishing, etc.

I know you feel strongly about this election and want to share your talking points, your ah hah gotchas, but please, don’t make this blog part of that craziness that is saturating the culture right now.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming in the third person. Esme woosh

  26. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 8:04 am

    24. i understand.

i didn’t mean the media had to pick up that person’s particular story, but just keep on top of the Benghazi story and not bury it in the back pages of their papers.

  27. (Jesse) James October 26, 2012 8:08 am

    Woo Hoo….Top 25!!!

    Good Morning Tsaikos!!!

  28. (Jesse) James October 26, 2012 8:08 am

    Brrrrrrr…..

  29. papajoe2 October 26, 2012 8:09 am

Wish you guys leave the political portions out of the Warrior Beat. I come here to get away from all those sign wavers, mail, lies and half truths and now its even here on the blog. How about blogging about sports, especially UH sports, local sports and UH football. No wonder the blog posts are down.

  30. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 8:09 am

    26. it’s not my politics, it’s what’s going around in the world today.

anyways, what YOU like to talk about besides football is maybe not what everyone else wants to talk about. go figure. i normally pass by posts i’m not interested in, i suggest folks do the sameβ€”it’s fun. πŸ™‚

  31. papajoe2 October 26, 2012 8:11 am

  35. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 8:20 am

some of the same folks that say post about football get mad at football posts that are different from their own football point of view, then call peeps “trolls” and try to shout them down, what’s the difference?

election time is the hot topic, like halloween, thanksgiving, christmas all will be. i’m sure folks will be talking about those things also when the time comes.

  36. postmanke October 26, 2012 8:20 am

thats what happens when you’re football team goes 1 – and something. or ranked 100 and something. ..goes political.

    Trick or Treat?

No excuse for lack of – anything. Any position. Anyone that can be penciled in on the depth chart is good enough to play and win in the league we’re playing in. I dont care who it is. or what practice you’re watching. #1 QB or someone will command confirmation, #1 had it, lost it. just needs 1 good series to find it again. they’ll unite again. we will win! 2nd season is about mental aspect of the game. Haunted by injuries, haunted by inexpierence, whatever.. bullcrap. check your talent at the door bring mental toughness. Dont play like its a chore. Have fun, play in the snow. Come tomorrow, Smash then Mash the Pumpkins.

If any music is on the practice field let it be by the Smashing Pumpkins.

    Headlines Sunday – “Smashing Pumpkins”

no score but UH (win) vs Pumkin Jerseys (lose)

  50. Chicken Grease October 26, 2012 8:42 am

Here’s a food suggestion, ahem. You know. To “balance out . . .”

    Here we go. Ahem.

Anybody try the burgers at Aunty Pasto’s? Kunia location at least? Mein Gott!!! They are some of the best burgers you can find on the island. No joke! They have a “just ask for a double patty” option, but, ONE of the pre-cooked 6 oz. Is good enough. And the selections!!! You can have fedah cheese with one type of burger. Just a grand selection. And a juicy burger. You can choose between this very nicely baked house chips (more like fried!) Or French fries.

    Q. why is it that dishes you don’t expect to find in certain restaurants (i.e., burgers at a scene from an Italian restaurant; another example: NY steak at a seafood restaurant) tend to taste better than those same dishes offered in those restaurants that specialize in those dishes? Food for thought (pardon the pun, yuk yuks.).

  51. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:43 am

    Smashing Pumkins…

  54. Shoko October 26, 2012 8:45 am

  59. Chicken Grease October 26, 2012 8:47 am

    # 48, SAWARRIOR, hahahahaah, ah, yeah, Warriors might JUST be telling Coach Chow that right NOW!!!! This is, finally, a bona fide, valid criticism of a Chow as well — potential double points for a SAWARRIOR :).

  60. Tommui October 26, 2012 8:48 am

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

Yep -politics seems to stir up people – depends on whose ox is being gored.

we have people that want to send in our Marines or attack drones into Libya.

We have Mexicans who want to invade the US because of the killings of their citizens in Arizona.

We have people on this blog quoting from Democratic propaganda outlets.

We have people on this blog quoting from Republican propaganda outlets.

Maybe we should just discuss football, basketball, volleyball, food, travel, and the burning of heretics and anyone that disagrees with our point of view.

  61. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:48 am

    Basketball season starts tonight.

    7pm.

    Laura Beeman.

    Another new era.

  62. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 8:49 am

    57. thank you. i must have smashing pumpkins confused with another band from the same period, lead singer died or something.

  63. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:50 am

    Mexico invading the US….

For fun, I say let em. Evacuate Texas and AZ, CA, etc… and I wanna see how far they can go.

Will make for GREAT PPV. Better value than UFC ppvs if you ask me.

Actually, don’t even evacuate those states. There won’t be a need to. πŸ˜†

  64. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:51 am

I dunno what would be funnier. Mexico attempting to invade the US, or Canada trying to invade the US since we keep winning β€œtheir” Stanley Cup titles. πŸ˜†

  65. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:54 am

    Same period…

“My period”. New music today is CRAP. (See: that gangnam garbage)

I liked that era. Dave Matthews’ Band, emergence of 3rd wave ska, etc… 1993-1997.

  66. postmanke October 26, 2012 8:54 am

    BBall season already? Oh my..

  67. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 8:57 am

canada and mexico should be the happiest countries, after all, they benefit from the protection of the US.

  68. Kevin October 26, 2012 8:57 am

Oh yes… and soon it will be the spring sports.

    Circle of life continues.

  69. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 9:00 am

    66. yeah, i agree today’s music is kaka. nothing original sounding coming out, all garbage. late 80’s and 90’s were my kind of music. nirvana, peal jam, guns n roses etc…

  70. 808Bowler October 26, 2012 9:01 am

Man why don’t jackson get more carries?? Ain’t he healthy now? He was a beast last year. Tough hard nosed runner with decent speed.

  71. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 9:03 am

ST and others, hopefully meet some of you tonight or tomorrow at the game. go Warriors!

  79. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 9:16 am

oh, Blind Melon lead singer who i was thinking of. Shannon Hoon died in Oct 21, 1995

  80. PurpleMaple October 26, 2012 9:21 am

I might go to the Wahine basketball game tonight. $7 admission is very affordable, but parking is $6 and cost of gas for me is $9 round-trip from Ewa (2 gal of gas). So that’s a total of $22. Add some eats, so we are looking at a $30 evening.

  81. gobows October 26, 2012 9:29 am

#77 student-athletes are regulated. rules apply to all student-athletes. otherwise it wouldn’t matter if you had a scholarship. if the rules didn’t apply to a walk-on, then it would be okay for a booster to line the pockets of a walk-on with gifts, money, jobs, money, food, money, etc. and it would render the limit on scholarships meaningless. e.g. why accept a scholarship at san jose state when usc will pay you a lot more moolah to walk-on.

  82. Kevin October 26, 2012 9:36 am

Yeppers. All student-athletes schollie or not, all under NCAA regulations. AND!!!

In some instances and scenarios, student-athletes that completed their eligibility still aren’t β€œout of the clear” so to speak with NCAA regulations and compliance issues. Like hiring a former student-athlete to work for you then giving them work perks that aren’t the norm for your company.

NCAA translates this as β€˜recruiting advantage’ meaning that gesture can be turned around to say β€œhey if you play here, you can get a job afterwards with extra benefits just because”.

That is just only ONE example of ONE situation. There are others out there.

  83. Kevin October 26, 2012 9:40 am

Never liked the grunge thing.. not at all.

Loved how bands like Sublime and No Doubt started their thing at the time when β€œhappy” music wasn’t the fad in the early early 90’s.

  84. SteveM October 26, 2012 9:43 am

    Good morning everyone!

    I’m depressed.

Recently, I asked a digital music party DJ what “oldies” he had.

    Showed me a list I didn’t recognize.

He replied, “Hey–there’s Top 25 stuff from the 80’s! Weren’t you there?”

    Nope. πŸ™

  85. A-House October 26, 2012 9:51 am

what’s that city in Missouri that starts with a “B” and where many of the “old time performers ” of the 50’s go and continue their legacy?

heard Andy Williams just died in that town.

Hope you ‘n the keed are hitting ’em straight and long!

  99. SteveM October 26, 2012 11:41 am

    RE: #99

    A-House — call signs like “KHJ6K” are official/registered units.

CB radios could be purchased anywhere, installed in your car, boat, or home and just used. I think 40 channels in the “Citizen’s Band”, with channel 19 being the main.

You make up your “handle” (like blog names)

It really is kinda like blogging–no one know who you are and everyone can hear and choose to respond/contribute.

CBers had their own lingo/slang. Here’s a sample:

yep, know what you mean as our “boat captains”, when we go fishing in Alaska, use their own “coded” names for different fishing spots.

on my first trip, I was wondering what the hell they were talking about until it “clicked” that they were identifying fishing spots

This snow might work in their favor. With all this snow, Warriors will have to focus on a ground attack.

Guess when the only thing folks have against Barry is Benghazi, you gotta push it to the limit. We understand. Hehe. Main thing everyone goes out and vote and of course agree that there will be disagreements. Remember, we all are passionate Warrior Fans too. FORWARD!!

  108. Diogenes Sinope October 26, 2012 1:01 pm

#108 3-Prong Most critics felt that we should have sent in our planes, Marines etc to intervene in the fighting. Of course Libya did not invite us to do so.

So were we suppose to invade that country (especially when it appears to be rebels that attacked our Consulate?

Like I said, if Mexicans were being killed in Arizona, would we be as understanding if the Mexican government invaded Arizona?

Or should we take the position that, as we are mightier than they are, and Gott mit us, we can go and invade?

I would refer others to this blog if they want to talk about politics but it looks like someone has already found it . . .

Yeah. That’d be a Grease who has been there. Cocobeans has posted there at least once.

Political Radar reviews each post before allowing them on their blog, by the way. Can take up to an entire day, and if you post late Friday, gotta sometime wait ’til Monday to see your contribution there. It’s a good thing. πŸ™‚

You know. The outline and rubric of the Benghazi thing ain’t way too far off from UH’s own Wonderblunder scandal. With both you got:

β€’ Checks and balances that should have been done.

β€’ Enough time to have avoided either disaster.

β€’ Presidents who should be held accountable . . . but, somehow aren’t.

Lot of you saying, “oh, boo hoo, keep football blog, football blog” are the same ones who think your, “you know, football is a lot like life” drub and clichΓ©.

I guess war and terrorist attacks are somehow not a part of life to youse.

  113. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 1:40 pm

    110. it’s obvious you know nothing about the operation going on in libya, ignorant statements like yours is what’s the problem in Americaβ€”ignorance.

We have forces, quick reaction forces stationed near libya to take care of these kinds of attacks, but our guys on the ground were denied the request for help. the question is WHY?!

a US Ambassador and 3 others were murdered. the higher-ups sent in drones to watch (including the WH) in real time the (7 hours) attacks on the consulate, and did nothing. in the libya situation with on-going operations, we don’t need permission.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

If there is a road loss Nevada suffers, its going to be Air Force. Whats strange, the Packs losses have been at home. On the road, their undefeated. We’ll see what happens tonight, tho.

3115 SAWARRIOR – I don’t know if it is ignorance. I’m just pointing out some obvious facts – that you can’t go storming into some other country willy-nilly.

Should we send in our troops when our people are kidnapped or killed in Iran? Russia? Philipines? China? Why is this case so different other than you don’t like Obama?

  150. Shoko October 26, 2012 4:32 pm

Tried that during the Iranian Hostage Crisis during the Carter era. That was a failure.

  151. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 4:32 pm

    151. we are already there in libya, it was a US Ambassador, and we sent drones to watch a live feed of the attacks to the WH, CIA etc… what don’t u understand, other than you’re an obama supporter.

disclaimer, i’m registered as NO PARTY AFFILIATION, both sides lie, cheat, tell half-truth and have their good points.

  153. WarriorNY October 26, 2012 4:35 pm

    @SAWarrior,

When you call someone ignorant, how can you not say its not personal???

  154. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 4:39 pm

    155. read posts #115 and 134, i thought it was clear i was calling his statement ignorant. if it was taken the wrong way, then i apologize, i’m not calling another poster ignorant.

  155. WarriorNY October 26, 2012 4:42 pm

    @sawarrior,

    You’re as independent as Bill O Reilly…

  156. Shoko October 26, 2012 4:45 pm

    Nevada 31

    Air Force 45

Basically, Pack defense didn’t have an answer to the Falcon’s triple option. They scored on every possession. All of them TDs with the exception of one. Nevada has now lost two straight.

Cincy game might go into overtime.

  157. d1shima October 26, 2012 4:46 pm

    Isn’t an Embassy sovereign territory?

It would seem that the Administration would seize the reason that Diogenes is espousing as the simplest explanation for abandoning American citizens in a firefight.

…instead the DCIA is playing CYA by stating, “No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.”

Regardless of party affiliation/loyalty, no American is gonna be calling this our proudest moment

  158. d1shima October 26, 2012 4:47 pm

    @sawarrior,

    You’re as independent as Bill O Reilly…

Hear that lots from folks who don’t watch O’ Reilly or listen to Rush.

  160. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 4:50 pm

    157. read post #153. i never claimed to be independent. so you are wrong on 2 posts now..wow, you’re 2 for 2. accusing me of calling someone ignorant and now calling me an independent. πŸ™‚

  161. WarriorNY October 26, 2012 4:53 pm

Just curious… Any of you jump on GWB in the same sway you jump on obama when gwb was warned of imminent attacks attacks against the US by Osama bin Laden? And GWB did nothing?

  165. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 4:57 pm

i watch/read many different news sources, abc, nbc, cbs, fox, msnbc, bbc, cnn, yahoo news, hardball, meet the press, o’reilly, maddow etc… i think im pretty well rounded in figuring out what is the truth from garbage.

  166. Shoko October 26, 2012 4:57 pm

Tried to ice the kicker on a bad snap…lol!

  167. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 5:00 pm

    165. bill o’reilly is a registered Independent according to his book. i’m registered as NO PARTY AFFILIATION, it’s 2 different things.

i’ve watched o’reilly attack bush/cheney and rumsfeld. i’ve watched o’reilly also defend obama an clinton, watch his show and maybe you will have a diffferent opinion.

  168. SAWARRIOR October 26, 2012 5:02 pm

    163. GWB was warned about iraq planning a 9/11 attack and sent troops to Iraq. damned if he does and damned if he don’t.

I am lukewarm on Romney at this point.

    1) Romney will cut my taxes– according to my accountant– I will put $30,00 to $50,000 a year in my pocket and my wife will get a savings of about half of that.

    2) Romney is going to keep most of Obamacare– all the important parts of it. It will be called Romneycare– he invented it anyway and Obama just copied it.

    3) Obama cannot deal with the logjam in Congress– Romney can and I think he will be more of a moderate– a Republican, but moderate like he always has been, once the election is over– he will get Democrats in Congress on his side and bust the conservative lock on Congress.

  174. WarriorNY October 26, 2012 5:08 pm

You think O Reilly defends Obama and Clinton at the same level as he did the republicans??

  180. Chicken Grease October 26, 2012 5:51 pm

    # 180 — you’re OK in our book, WarriorNY.

Hey. If this were the North Korean version of The Warrior Beat, we’d have no postings after a certain point πŸ˜‰ . So, it’s good that we diascuss politics from time-to-time as any sports venue will get into tangent topics.

Different environment if youse folks decide to hit it up at Political Radar — a Grease’s role there is akin to the Buck Rogers in The 25th Century (yes, the version starring Gil Gerard) episode where Rogers encountered this old fogey in a grey union suit, from another planet where said old fogey was considered one of its more weaker inhabitants (he kicked Rogers’ butt-in-pokey very much, near throwing him around Incredible Hulk-style at times). Lot of legal, well, what Grease calls, lot of legal, legislative, edict, H.R. Bill, and likeness thereof bloviating.

    So know.

  204. kev-1 October 26, 2012 9:17 pm

ugh . .. political banter. I enjoy talking football with SAWARRIOR, but if we were in a room together talking politics, we may need gloves. But that’s okay. I think people are entitled to their opinions. I just disagree. I think SAWARRIOR respects that.

Can’t take other people’s opinions personally. I’ve given my two cents on the matter, and have been treated pretty fairly about my own opinions. So I can’t complain.

I don’t think Obama was prepared to deal with the Republican “we will do everything in our power to make him fail” agenda. Republicans, Independents, and Democrats alike have to admit that they have not made it easy. And like I said before, that is not what they are elected to do.

Did you know that I graduated from CSU. I went there from 57-60 and earned a teaching degree. Yes, I know all about the deep snow and ice…I did my student teaching with a cast on my leg and had to teach. I sure fell allover the place in the snow and ice. I went to Tuson thkis past week to visit my Hanai mother from greeley Colorado who is not doing too well. Still Go Bo9ws

Just got home from the Wahine basketball game, they showed a lot of attitude and good play for the first game. Ricketts will be a force once she gets in the grove she was solid in the paint but lacked the shooting, but that should come around with practice seeings how she hasn’t played BB since highschool. Over all they looked promising.

    politics?

media is biased. 99.9% of stories are slanted one way or another.

fox is the most obvious. i used to drink o’reilly’s kool-aid. spend time in another country and you will absolutely see the difference at how our media tends to polarize. the reason we don’t have true moderates in the u.s. anymore is because of how politics and the media worked together to polarize opinions.

look at how we argue here. we seem to not be able to argue without throwing in emotion which dilutes well-thought logic and or facts. in politics moderates are coined flip-floppers or has inconsistent values.

i know this much, the government has an agenda, the media has an agenda. for the government it’s to heard as many of us as they can into their camps and pin you in with inflexible ideals.

i was once in the military. I served 12 years and i chose to not reenlist after gulf war 1. Do I love my country yes, but i made a decision that if I were to sacrifice my life, it’s for what i believe in, not what the president tells me to because someone lobbied something in congress or some corporation(s) have collective foreign interests.

the truth of the matter is america always needs an enemy to further geo-political interests. if we don’t have one-we will create one. and that for anyone who can see things clearly will also tell you, if we do not have a crises, we will create one. it’s what sad americans today thrive on- conflict, fear, hate, polarization. and we get so caught up in it we can no longer see the truth, reason, or debate thoughtfully.

Our agenda or one thing on it is to destabilize the middle east. all you need to do is look at recent history. we are in competition with russia, india, and china…and soon brazil for the world’s resources. north africa is rich in resources, the middle east is rich in it. africa is rich in resources but china will dominate africa, and it in fact is. why are we still in afghanistan? for lithium. from cel phone batteries to laptops to car batteries, afghanistan has huge deposits of lithium-something we need today, tomorrow, and well into the future. the history of america pretty much has been if you can’t by land-steal it. since we can’t steal it, we need to find ways to stay in the region and stay close by.

we tend to believe our military is to protect us, protect our freedoms. but the truth of the matter is, a country’s military is also an extension and a tool for governments to use to serve their agenda.

my thinking… it does not matter who you vote for because the truth is, unless the country can see clear enough democrats and republicans are all bought and sold. people believe in the bible and religions, things they cannot see and believe in it faithfully. yet they cannot see the truth when it stares them in the face and that’s because we are polarized to believe emotions and rhetoric more then what common sense or even truth is saying.

Because we lost our moderates we lost or middle ground-the key to common sense and we became polarized which has blinded us with emotions and rhetoric from the media and politics.

the first step to internal peace and de-polarizing is to stop watching fox-seriously. you will not believe how peaceful life can be without fox news and editorial programs filling you with information to hate. yes, i said information to hate…try and watch o’reilly without getting mad, or thinking someone is stupid, or even hating a person, people, organizations, a religion, a race, a country… you can’t or hard to do.

i think the healing of the country starts with all of us de-polarizing and coming back together.

me, i love all you guys…. sort of πŸ™‚

Present temperature is 28 degrees with a high of 41 according to one source. Game starts at 5:00pm MT, so I’m thinking upper-30’s at kickoff then dropping off to the low thirties at the end of the game.
