Warriors work USC, Cal camps today

After successfully hosting its Elite Camp — 350 or so campers — the Warriors are reciprocating with their attendance at two camps on the mainland today.

Offensive coordinator Brian Smith, special teams coordinator Mayur Chaudhari and defensive backs coach Abraham Elimimian are guest coaches at USC’s camp.

Offensive line coach Chris Naeole and receivers coach Kefense Hynson are guest coaches at California’s camp.

USC and Cal were among the teams that sent coaches to UH’s Elite Camp.

The exchange will be helpful for the Warriors, who will have a chance to meet, coach and evaluate players from the SoCal and NorCal areas.

Not all of the players/attendees at these camps will be offered scholarships due to the numbers game and certain positions being full. Great opportunity for UH to meet, coach, and evaluate prospective players at these reciprocal camps.

For the UH coaches, this is like being asked to an invitation-only sale. There’s exclusivity to these camps. I think the Pac-12 schools also were happy to be able to attend the UH camp and evaluate all of the Hawaii talent.

Best of luck to UH coaching staff in recruiting some of the Hawaii prep players and on a successful recruiting trip to Cal and USC. Great exposure for the Hawaii prep players at the Elite camp. Just one small comment to UH, needed more water stations at the camp, otherwise, camp was well received by the players.

Attended both GPA & Elite camps this week…my opinion, observations, having attended & coached I these types of camps.
    Schools athletes that stood out:
St. Louis have a bunch of talent, especially on Defense! Front, LBs, DBs!
    Waianae looked well represented!
Punahou also caught my eye, OL-DL-DBs
Kahuku & Kamehameha also impressed, Kapolei, Pearl City showed up as well. Kailua, Castle, St Francis.
Alpha Dog of both camps in my opinion:
Kana’i Mauga – LB, RB, DE – this guy is a BEAST!
Loves the game & plays to win on every rep!!

    Recruit good kids, good people.

In light of the Oregon State baseball scandal, I am open to the reinstatement of KT.

A lot of transgressions are forgivable, but not that.

    Go Titans!
