    Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
New season, high expectations, jobs to be won, clean slate for everyone.

  2. Maddog50 July 31, 2016 10:48 am

To the naysayers…..players thrive and wins result in putting players in a position to succeed-many times in the past few years on both sides players were put a system they were not fit for…happens all the time. Give this team these coaches some time before judging on past-Go Warriors

Looking forward to a good first season under Coach Rolovich. For those expecting a pass-oriented offense, I think you will be disappointed. Coach Rolo will operate a run-oriented offense. Previously on a radio-talk show, Brian Smith said they plan to open the season with a 60-40/run-pass offense with game-time adjustments. And this is in line with what Nevada did last season with Rolo as their offensive coordinator.

NSF – Maddog – HMan … all excellent comments …

“Character” Coach ??? And who might that be …

  5. Sangamon Keith July 31, 2016 12:10 pm

Good to hear … H-Man! With all the talent we have at running back I would hope we ran the ball more than passed. Harris, Davis, Lakalaka and Saint Juste are all quality backs who have used their redshirt year. On top of that, we have Freddie Holly … the best RB recruit in the MWC this year! We may not have a 1,000 yard rusher this year but we won’t have anyone out of gas. Certainly, we’d love to have a Pumphry or McNichols, but I’d put our running backs up against any other RB unit in the conference.

    Just my opinion. Keith

Last year, UH had a 50.2 to 49.8 run to pass play ratio. Nevada’s was 62.7 to 37.3 .

  7. SC July 31, 2016 12:55 pm

ST. Can you please provide the dates and times for the football practices in August? Thank you.

  8. Warrior_Mom July 31, 2016 1:17 pm

    Whoop, Whoop…EXCITED!!!

  9. Ipu Man July 31, 2016 1:22 pm

Bears qb, Davis Webb as a freshman for Texas Tech,
threw 400 yard plus games in 2013 against
    Iowa State
    West Virginia
    Oklahoma State
and ended his season in the Holiday Bowl (2014)
as MVP with 403 yards against Arizona State.

That’s four games, pretty impressive. Health issues followed…
But now he’s healthy and back with a familiar coach…

Comes down to who works harder, who want it more, do your assignments and execution.

  11. Boolakanaka July 31, 2016 2:39 pm

Very exciting time all of the year for all the players. Just remember, no red shirts at the disco….immortal words of ex-UH coach, Dave Fagg.

  12. Da Punchbowl Kid July 31, 2016 2:59 pm

Yep. LOADED at RB – wonder what kinds of formations we’ll use to leverage that talent.

  13. seewhy July 31, 2016 3:57 pm

Game down under is sure going to be an interesting game. I hope the defense can give Webb a rough debut!

  14. Shoko July 31, 2016 4:22 pm

Brian Smith said they plan to “open the season” with a 60-40/run-pass offense with game-time adjustments.”

I’m guessing that the game plan changes based on how the passing game evolves as the season progresses? If the defense is giving up points, running the ball to keep it out of the hands of a high-scoring offense like Cal’s might be a good idea, unless, of course, you’re down by a large margin and the clock is quickly ticking down.

  15. Maddog50 July 31, 2016 4:51 pm

Last complete game played by Warriors was against Sonny’s La tech team at their place -offense/defense and special teams it was a great win-looking for a few of those this year-Go Warriors!

I definitely enjoyed watching the exciting games that UH played under Coaches Jones and McMackin. But UH winning a lot of its games is the thing that I miss the most. For 2015, we had a split of 23% – 77% for wins – losses. If sometime soon Coach Rolovich can flip those percentages around and lead UH to wins over AF and Boise State, the pass / run percentage won’t matter to me at all. After spending the better part of 4 seasons regretting that that Coach Rolovich wasn’t hired, I can’t see myself getting overly concerned about how success is achieved.

  19. H-Man July 31, 2016 8:53 pm

    Shoko, yes.
Maddog50, I remember watching the game on TV. Bryant Moniz was the QB and that was the last time the Warriors played a complete game (W 44-26). If I am not mistaken, La Tech was the WAC champ that season (2011).
Kapakahi, thanks for practice schedule. Shucks, 6:30 a.m. practices mean I won’t be attending many practices. I wonder if it will be worth going to the scheduled 4 p.m. practices? The last time, the afternoon practices were focused on special teams. That’s how I got to see a lot of Rigo Sanchez’ punting.

  20. seewhy August 1, 2016 1:00 am

Not sure if this was address already, but is Kumoku Noa going to join the team later?

  21. Maddog50 August 1, 2016 1:08 am

Yes they did win the WAC that year and lost to TCU in a bowl game. FYI JGW is all of 230lbs.
Here are my players to watch
Tavai, Gifford and Manoa on Defense(many others but these are key-
Leo K Eli and a cast of guards
    Harris and Lakalaka
    Ursula and Collie
The Qb best suited to move the ball and protect it. There is more than 1 prospect here and past performance is not indicative of true ability-

  22. WarriorNY August 1, 2016 4:16 am

Just saw this article… Pretty cool on Trevor Davis…

  23. M L Warrior August 1, 2016 6:34 am

    Good morning all,

Nice day to start the practices, as usual we will count on Stephen to get some great shots, and hopefully some of the o-line too.

  24. SC August 1, 2016 7:06 am

Kapakahi. Thank you for the schedule.
