About 35 football players are expected to compete in this afternoon’s walk-on tryouts.
Current walk-ons do not have to apply.
The tryouts are restricted to current UH full-time students. The top participants will be able to participate in spring training, which begins March 20.
The tryouts begin at 5 p.m. because that is the earliest available time for the Ching complex.

2012 DA14 is passing by now
ESPN’s ratings of 2013 football recruiting has the Warriors at #68. I think this is the highest rating Hawaii has ever had by any recruiting site. Boise St. was the top MWC school at 53. San Diego St. was just behind Hawaii at 69. Fresno St. was at 70. A couple of slots below is BYU at 72. SMU was at 71. Just ahead of Hawaii was Colorado. Alabama was tops. Mississippi at #5 had the biggest jump from the prior year. Hugh Freeze is a great coach.
