The Warriors have decided to redshirt freshman defensive tackles Mike Andrade and Hunter Thomson.
Neither has played this year, although Thomson was on the travel roster to San Diego State two weeks ago.
The moves will enable both to improve physically. Both were held out early because of medical issues.
That leaves the Warriors with two main defensive tackles (Siasau Matagiese and Haku Correa) and an assortment of double-duty d-ends (Beau Yap, Tavita Woodard and, possibly, Jordan Pu‘u-Robinson). Kaeo Alo, who is 5-9 and 260, also is part of the rotation.
Next year, the Warriors get back injured Moses Samia and Calen Friel. They had received an oral commitment from David Moala, who is now receiving interest from Pac-12 schools. The Warriors also are pursuing other JC defensive tackles.
