Turkey Bowl
The Rainbow Warriors’ final full practice of 2013 concludes with today’s Turkey Bowl featuring redshirts and under-used players.
Because of Army’s aggressive blocking, the Warriors will be in full pads today, a rare style for what is usually a lighter Thursday practice.

Tight end Jordan Pu‘u-Robinson’s injury filled year has come to an end. He has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus.
Joining him on the sideline will be Moses Samia, Ben Dew and Keith Kirkwood.

Happy Thanksgiving, Tsaikos!
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior football
Happy Thanksgiving! Go Warriors!
Happy Thanksgiving. BTW, Nice article about Billy Ray. Good for him to get his degree. Also, great article by Ferd. The stadium situation for UH is a no-win one. UH is a State institution and is being treated like the unwanted bastard child.
Aloha kakahiaka. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Imua Rainbow Warriors!!!
Great Morning All!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior Football.
Dave Reardon’s article to day was right on. I never found a way to really love the 2007 team. Always felt they were very lucky to have made it through a very soft schedule with so many places they could have lost when they should have dominated. I was however very proud of their accomplishments and making it to the big time. The 2013 team has been very painful to watch many times. But I continue to feel good about the way they keep showing up and holding their heads high. Hey we have a team, we have a blog with a wild mix of people and emotions. I’m thankful!
Happy Thanksgiving All!!!

GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving to all.
perhaps our 2007 BCS busting team just had really good leaders, making the difference that took us over the edge to victory in all of those close games. This year it is #14 Northern Illinois and #16 Fresno St looking to be BCS busters. The computer rankings enabled Northern Illinois to jump over Fresno St, even though Fresno St is ranked ahead in the USA and Harris polls.
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior’s football

time to bang the pots and pans, get ready for the meal…meals
Speaking of NIU, that recruit, Dustin Adams, who decommitted from UH and signed with NIU, has left the program after one season and is now at North Dakota.
BTW, this guy is currently out of coaching and is looking to get back into the game. He was a pretty decent DC while at WAZZU. However, rumor has it that he may be applying for the Weber State job (he played and graduated from WSU). Used to enjoy listening to him being interviewed when he was the coach at Idaho.

RE DR’s article …
1) Ludicrous might just be a word that many people would use …
“You may think it ludicrous to compare a 12-0 team with one that is 0-11. But just a big play or two going the other way each game would make them 7-5 and 6-5.”
2) Many might also see this root cause assessment to be little more than throwing the defense under the bus to excuse an 0-11 record this year and 1-9 record last year against fully FBS teams …
“Fast forward to now (sorry, we must) and the defense is in a sorry state of disrepair. It has been identified as the main culprit in UH’s zero-win season, and it doesn’t take a CSI lab to find the evidence. The Warriors are 116th of 123 teams in total defense, allowing 502.7 yards per game, translating to 112th with 38.5 points allowed.”

Truly:
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior Football!
Happy Thanksgiving, all!!
Football season goes way too fast. Just like life itself. I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior Footbal. Have a good one!
I am thankful for the “Rainbows” that form over our beautiful island paradise.
I am thankful for the “Warriors” for fighting on inspite of the losses.
I am thankful for “Football” because we could eventually be left with a different kind of “futbol”, if UH athletics does not eventually become financially self-sufficient.
Reardon is right on. It’s the coaching. Thus is the major reason for failure. This team can be and would be way better with a competent coaching staff more so competent Head Coach. Tsai doesn’t opinionate merely reports the BS coming out if the athletic dept. and coach.
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior football
Happy Thanksgiving to the team and tsaikos!
WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR…..in the meantime support Coach Gib and the awesome hoops team
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior football!!!
I thankful for bowl of rice and char siu. I thankful chow get 3 more year coach uh.
Tsai has got to worry about his job too! No Fans, no money, no football, and no athletic program. Who needs him to cover HS sports? I don’t think the Star Advertiser needs him for that. If they do, maybe they can demote him to a has-been warrior reporter status, cut his pay, and assign him other duties like sweeping the floors and cleaning the toilets! Presently he plays buddy-buddy with Chow. Maybe he ought to start giving Chow some gas.
Thankful this painful is is almost pau. Just win one. Please.
Hau’oli La Ho’omaika’i to the all UH Warriors.

I also thankful place exist in world where losing, failure, mediocrity celebrated, defended by devout followers of personality.
I’m thankful that the UH football players stick together as a family and never give up. Outstanding character. I hope they all come back healthy for next year. Go Rainbow Warriors!
I almost forgot, I’m also thankful for mistah and allie that they finally got together, saw them holding hands while someone was bashing the homeless carts by the Ala Wai.
Last night, I was flipping channels between RW basketball and Leahey & Leahey with Shane Victorino. Remember he was offered by June Jones? He was also a record holder in Hawaii High School track and, obviously, an outstanding baseball player, but did you know that he was also one of the most feared soccer players in the state? Class guy. He’s not ready to retire yet, but would eventually like to pass the torch to Kolten Wong to represent Hawaii. Look for the replay with L&L. Very interesting segment.
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior football!
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior Football. I really am!
Good to hear the Warriors are preparing for Army’s chop I mean aggressive blocking. I won’t be a happy camper if a chop block results in a serious knee injury for one of our guys.
I voted for Emily Hartong and I am thankful for ALL Rainbow Warrior and Rainbow Wahine student athletes and coaches.
Let’s Go Bows! Beat Army!
I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior football. And good eats. Happy Thanksgiving.

74 . . . I think Kanoa should be the voice of Hawaii football (if not all televised sports) too. His delivery is smooth, he does his research, and he knows how to control the flow of a broadcast. Unfortunately, when he decided to take on a bigger role with broadcasting outside of Hawaii, he was also saying “screw you then Hawaii” for passing him up when it was his turn for the job. That’s just my opinion, but I imagine that he has his sights set on a bigger future now. I hope I am wrong and he becomes Hawaii’s voice soon.
Good job Kanoa!…hope you make it to the big time!…
Let’s see, Al Michaels, Neil Everette, Les Keiter, big shoes to fill as former Hawaii sportscasters.
I am thankful for Rainbow Warrior football.
#80 Kev1,
Big difference between Kanoa and Pops. Pops was happy to stay in Hawaii, Kanoa wants S big time national job. Good luck Kanoa because you have big time talent. You too can be another Al Michaels and make the 808 proud.
“I’m thankful for Rainbow Warrior Football.”
And, I really mean it!!!
Watching me some SMU v Houston…. JJ not too good with the up tempo offense. 2 substitution penalties and a delay of game after aforementioned substitution foul.
Starting QB Gilbert out with knee injury, but his #2 QB reminds me of how Timmy Chang played. Quick release, good arm, gun slinger. He’s inexperienced, but I see some big potential with Burchum.
I also see JJ mixing in elements of Air Raid offense also. His offense now definitely looks different than what he ran at UH. Also noticed JJ is using pistol and mixing in 2 RBs on occasion.
Timmy Chang is also in his 2nd year as offensive grad assistant at SMU. If JJ doesn’t promote him to the fulltime staff, not a bad choice for Chow to hire him as QB coach in the future. But I have no clue if Chow and Chang have any connection to make it happen or if Chang would be available.
Ouch, Burchum just threw an interception. He’s a little too hyped up. Just over shot his WR and was picked. He’s got the arm to squeeze the ball into tight windows but he’s got some happy feet.
I am thankful for Rainbow Warrior football.
My computer at home would not let me open the Warrior Beat – tried 5 times!
Good Morning Folks!
@ A-House …had the same problem this week too (thought I was smu’d)
A belated Happy Thanksgiving Blessing to all!
I am thankful for Rainbow Warriow Football!
I love this team win or lose!
Go Bows! Looking for a “W” Saturday!
Congrats to Princess Leila :-)!
Pal Eldredge sat in for Kanoa on L&L. Papa Leahey kept saying that Kanoa was bigtime now. The guest was Shane Victorino. He would be a great motivational speaker for the Warriors before a game.
I’m thankful for rainbow warrior football!
NCAA all time interception leader with happy feet & questionable intestinal fortitude as QB coach?
He’s better than you …
Good Morning Tsaikos…Happy Black Friday!!!
Don’t forget for tomorrow’s T-gate…Homey says that the them is All-American so we are having hotdogs, hamburgers and such… 🙂
I am a retired USC alumni and a Chow’s fan since his day in USC. Two national champions, every high school called him coach chow that get Carol zealous. I saw his up and down but I really like the men’s work ethic. Timmy Chang when played in LA against USC almost pull a victory for Hawaii.
Stephen like your journalship, brief but right to the point. great job.
Happy thanks given for everyone in this blog.
Kanoa should do what’s best for him…even if it means leaving the islands. if espn is knocking then he should definitely take the shot.
cast your vote for emily hartong for lowes senior class award at http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/
97 . . . true dat. I just have a selfish preference to hear him when I watch UH sports. Just think bruddah does a real good job.
@94, I’m not claiming to be the QB coach, just posing a pertinent question. I’ve seen so many of these interceptions in person.
Honestly, ignorance is not a pretty thing to see.
I lurk, I read many posts each day, and I noticed #40 Hon2255 and #45 leahi2, writing stuff about Stephen Tsai. How he doesnʻt give Chow and coaches “The Gas”, or how he never injects his opinions etc….
Thatʻs where the ignorance comes in, and I don’t donʻt call it that to be mean spirited, just factual.
Itʻs ignorant to think Tsaiʻs opinion matters, heʻs a damn reporter, any reporter who interjects his/her own opinions, well, they are no longer reporters.
Simple enough right?
As for “giving the gas”, thatʻs what columnists do. Not reporters. Reporters report. Reports do not make themselves part of the story.
Every time I have posed a direct question to ST, he has given me his honest response. ST is around the team almost daily and knows much more about what is going on than us fans. As disgruntled as this season has made us feel, I trust that ST gives his fair take. He is a beat reporter, not a columnist.
Hooray for Kanoa! His Grandfather, his Father, and now Kanoa. The Leahys were and are great. But we are suck with Bobby Curan. He is for the Pitts! Auwe! Okay throw stick and stones at me but you think that one over. Before you do however, consider why ESPNU would’n’t use Bobby Curan instead…….take HIM away!
