On the mend
Colt Brennan is back in Hawaii for the weekend. He is a volunteer coach at tomorrow’s Barefoot League clinic at Aloha Stadium.
He appears thin, although he said he weighs more than 200 pounds, and has a slight scar on his left cheek, a result of last November’s horrific two-car accident on the Big Island. He also has scars from the surgery to repair a broken left collar bone.
Other than that, he said he feels fine, and has resumed training.
* * * * *
Safety Darryl McBride and running back Jordan Monico are both moving to linebacker for spring training. McBride, who is 6-2 and 207, will give the Warriors added quickness on the outside. Monico, the best special-teams tackler, will be a physical middle linebacker.

And defensive tackle Zach Masch unveils his new look …
GO COLT!!! Please give him a hug from Auntie Liz, ST!
Oh, man! Colt sighting?
Good morning, gangee! Morning, DPK!
Exciting news about Monico and McBride… and Zach- nice look for our Monster Masch!!!
Wonder if I can get over there to the Outrigger? What’s the news conference for? Someone from the Colts?
hope the news is super good! GO COLT!
Colt to be a Colt? Wat up?
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Is DPK ready to re-enter the race to be top ten?
(If not, here is his proxy – TOP TEN)
If there’s good news about Colt it will just make my day.
BTW, I had a lovely evening with two lovely ladies from the Ashburn area. One of them brought me an early Ayyam-i-Ha present… a reusable Redskins shopping bag with some nice souvenirs, including a pic of CB5 (needs an autograph) and a piece of the old jumbotron at FedEx field. WOW!
I love football peeps… HTTR~!

Thursday was Colt Brennan’s first trip back to the islands since being discharged from Queens Medical Center in late November.
He’s in town to serve as an instructor at a youth football clinic this weekend.
Kanoa- great interview!!!
Love to Colt, Shakti and Theresa…
Good morning all!
Wow! First 3 in the clubhouse were Tsaikettes! Well, we know who’s driving the ship this morning. Way to roll Sistahs!
Oh yeah…Aloha Friday erryone!
Great fix to shoring up the linebackers and getting some players deserved opportunities. Haven’t seen much of Darryl, but can’t help but notice Jordan on special teams. He was the “special” in special teams.
Is it Ryan”s daddy?
Good to see Jordan getting a shot at lb.
why would we move one of our “better” safeties (where it’s relatively thin right now) to a super crowded position at LB?
Ryan’s daddy would be a huge get.
http://www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=coachbio&coach_id=30
Oh, yeah, I heard about the clinic this weekend with all of the FB stars. Mahalo to Colt and the others who will be here for the clinic with the youngsters.
I’ve been noticing Darryl McBride over the past year and he’s gonna be a great one on the line. He communicates a lot which means he’s seeing the formations on the other side. He was at the softball game last night.
wow, I thought McBride was set to compete for the vacant safety positions. Is the move to LB a permanent move? Take a look at the recruiting by position for 2011. UH has by far the most LB recruits of the WAC schools and I think it’s been that way since coach mack took over.
Hold your horses!…Colt’s in town! Check your guns at the door, and mosey on up to the Barefoot bar.
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
Top Twenny!
Mornin’ Slugger! Mornin’ Tom!
Please Lord, just let Colt have a chance!
Okay, almost top Twennny…
Nice move for McBride and Monico. We already know that Monico is jes’ a tacklin’ machine!
DPK- you were proxied in at #7. No worries 😆
good morning Tsaikos,
a BIG shout out to DPK, he looked good when i was talking to him on my phone the other day, but then again, everyone looks good on my phone, haha.
GO WARRIORS
good luck to all the walk ons, never lose sight of your dream…never
GO WARRIORS
Good morning Tsaikos!
Happy Friday!
Softball and volleyball tonight! Does it get any better? 😀
Not sure about the McBride move, but the coaches know their players best…Like most, I think we’re very thin at Safety, where we need fast and physical players. We didn’t do much in recruiting to replace our Safeties, so I hope our returnees are strong enough to cover the last line of defense.
I hope its good news for Colt…He needs some for a change…
I want a picture of Stephen hugging Colt for LizK! 😆
d1…perhaps a better picture for lizk would be stephen taking a photo of slugger hugging colt…?
Good move shifting Jordan Monico to the middle linebacker position. He is is an impact player. Instead of seeing him make an impact only for few seconds tackling guys on kick offs, we are going to see him in action more of the time sacking QBs, stopping the runners and breaking passes to receivers ala Jeff Ulbrich. He is going to be in the middle of the action. If he is anything like his dad Mario Monico who terrorized opposing teams with his bat in baseball, he is not going to disappoint Warrior fans. The Monicos’ stand for excellence in UH sports. Jordan Monico from his stellar performance last season on special teams is going to keep that tradition alive. Can’t wait to see him in action next season.
Mack always said that safeties could be come linebackers…..linebackers could be come DE’s…..DE’s could become DT’s, etc etc etc. SPEED is the name of the game with Mack/Aranda’s defense. Miami Stylee. I got absolutely no problem with this bradduh moving to LB.
BIK
Yah… if Slugger can make it… that would be a good hug from both of us. Thanks, al!
Good morning Tsaikos and look forward to seeing da rainbow vb on maui tomorrow nite.
Good morning everyone!
Any news from the 1000 news conference?
Good Morning. Wahine softball — good to see that the bats are back. Congrats on a great game!
What a difference in bat speeds between the Wahine and Tbirds.
Didn’t go to the Outrigger, since I’m thinking it’s an news conference for the youth football clinic this weekend. Lots of big names gonna be there.
I have garden work to do before I go to the softball games this afternoon. Gotta keep those slugs in check.
Laters!
MAHALO TO ALL THOSE THAT TURNED OUT IN SUPPORT OF THE RAINBOW WAHINE!!!
Crowd looked to have been 500-650 and for a Thursday night with the potential for questionable weather that is amazing indeed. Also “thank you” to everyone that expressed interest in the “Na Wahine Softball Booster Club”. We received dozens of inquries and got a nice response.
We will be in attendance today again to continue to accept applications and field any questions potential boosters may have.
1st Game today: versus UC DAVIS at 5:00pm
2nd/last game tonight: versus TEXAS STAT at 7:00pm
Yeah. I could have taken off today as well to see the first game at 5pm…
chawan your #166 from yesterday: watching on TV, I could not believe the ump called that a strike – bugga mus be blind!!!!!!!!
Pomai:
tonight, tonignt ( not from Westside Story ) – A-House family will be there! and hopefully, MasaBoy will agree to see a game with us next weekend!!!
ST:
are U holding out on a story of Charles Clay “walk-in on to UH” from SMU??
U goin make Bighilo and Big Island Kurt and Kawika49 angry!!!
Charles Clay:
how many years will he have to play at UH? 3 for 3 or less?
I love the way the Wahine swing the bat. They certainly don’t get cheated at the place. They take their swings and their cuts like every good pitch looks like a tomato. Did you see the cuts by Enrique, Robinson, Duhaylongosd-Kaleimamahu, and Zamora took? Man, if they make contact it’s bye bye baby. Iwata’s HR was a line drive, a frozen rope, hit so hard that it never dove, but kept going on a line until it went outta there. Gonzalez and Majam’s HRs were bombs, easily could have gone out 250 ft. Rodriguez struggled both at the plate and in the field. Two hits went over her head, one for a triple, the other went for a double and the runner was tagged at third trying for a triple by a great pickup and throw by Iwata. Rodriguez is too good a player and will play better today.
You can see the Wahine have been working in the weight room very hard. You can see the biceps bulging when they are at the place.
If Charles Clay did walk on.. he red shirted in 2009… played in 2010..so he’d have to sit out at least a year… and that would leave him 2 for 2.
Charles Clay was the only player from Hawaii on SMU’s roster in 2010..
Prep: Was named First Team Big Island Interscholastic Federation in football and track… Two-year letter winner in football at Hilo HS… Also lettered in track.
Personal: Parents are Charles and Jelena Clay… Has one sibling, Dylan.
Welcome home, Charles Clay and to the Warrior ohana!!!!!!!!!!!
bighilo is one very proud tsaiko!
A-House,
No mo softball next weekend.
The Wahine will depart for two sets of mainland tournaments after this weekend. They will have a single game against Texas State on Monday, Feb 14th, but after that the next home game for the Wahine will not be until Friday, March 4th.
I wonder if it’s the same Dylan Clay that’s a MMA fighter…
Sad to hear about the passing of Chuck Tanner, 82. He managed the Hawaii Islanders to some of their greatest seasons ever. Some of the players he managed were Doug Griffin, Marty Perez, John Werhas, Rich Barry, Jim Coates, and Tomas Silverio. They were great times at the old Honolulu Stadium where things were so pure and the vendor would walk in the stands and say, “peanuts, popcorn, coke” in his raspy voice. What a great guy. Those were the days my friend.
I still think they should build a 40 to 45 thousand stadium at that place. Turning it into a park was not a good idea. Do you see a lot of people at the park every day? No?
For Colt fans.
Video interview of Colt back here in Hawaii.

Like Mee Gee, J Rod just needs to grow into her new position. Sarah pulls with a lot of power. Kind of like JRod. Jessica is a beast. Look at her shoulders and arms. And that leap to snatch the ball out of the air was big time.
Mr. A-house – only get baseball next weekend. ❗ Softball team is in Lost Wages next weekend, mvb at UCLA & Irvine and mbb BracketBuster game at UCDavis. Wahine will be home for a much needed rest after the road trip from hell (Reno-Las Cruces-Ruston). So glad there’s only 1 more year of this nonsense.
Charles Clay is not currently enrolled at UH, so, no, he is not on team. Yet.
Pomai
Are you folks doing “Dollars for Dingers” collections after every HR? With admission free, fans were very willing to chip in. Just gotta have big signs (waterproof!) and big containers. Ask and they will give.
ST what happened at 10?
It will be very interesting to see who will be playing safety and what the depth chart will look like. Maybe McBride is just an experiment and he might move back to safety later. At any rate, some people will have to step up to replace Spencer Smith and Mana Silva. Richard Torres has started at safety last year. Others in the mix are Jordon Gomes, new recruit Bryan Clay, Leroy Lutu, and maybe John Hardy-Tuliau will move to safety. I don’t want to miss somebody because there are a lot of defensive backs in the mix and they all have a chance to step up and seize the moment. Good luck to all of them. They are all Warriors. Competition is the name of the game. We need playmakers.
Luna, Alo, Hill to name a few.
ST,
it’s too bad Colt appears thin and is scarred, as you said above.
Bo Belinsky pitched a no hitter at the palace. I am one of the few who can say I got to see Aloha Stadium in its baseball configuration.
I watched the Islanders play at Aloha… it was weird… 5000 spectators in a house that holds 50K… The stadium was new then… it had just displaced all of my friends from the low-income housing apartments that used to be there.
Hi- ST… did you give Colt my hug???
I’m not worried about next season’s defense… it’s the QB to receiver connection that I’m more concerned about. I think we have a good number of O-linemen competing for playing time so that should make for a solid O-line. But the connection between QB and receiver usually takes considerable time and repetition to develop.
I too saw the Islanders and coach Tanner at both the Honolulu Stadium and Aloha Stadium. RIP Coach Tanner. Yup, those were the days.
Aloha Chuck Tanner.
He and Jack Quinn formed a great braintrust that had the town buzzing. Much success came from Quinn’s proclivity for signing veterans to “outright” contracts rather than relying on farm players. That gave Tanner something to build from.
…went to one or two Islander games at Aloha Stadium.
Just wasn’t the same. 🙁
Nice shout out from Wilbon for Tanner on PTI
Nice archive story about Islander history.
http://archives.starbulletin.com/2001/07/29/sports/story1.html
howzit yu’all plenty rain pouring down now in the pearl city area try stay dry if you can
congrats to sball wahines on their victory last night. kinda tense for 3 innings bats came alive and history. being a bball purest wasn’t sure about the lefty catcher but she does a nice job behind the plate and it does give pitchers advantage on the outside pitch to right’s.
Thanks, ST for follow up on Charles Clay – guess he is still at SMU and will transfer in May or June.
yep saw de islanders at old termite palace and they packed the house. hands down to old than newer stadium.
d1 going close down soon
ahouse going need flippas and canoe for tonights game bwhaaaaaaaaaaa
RIP, Mr. Tanner! you brought a lot of joy to the “old timers” of minor league ball to Hawaii.
Got see many Islander games as I was at UH during the beginning of AAA ball at the “termite palace” – btw, why “palace”? place was a dump!!! old beat up wooden bench seats, old outer walls, etc.
hey! koakane – no go an bachi tonights games – but i goin wea slippahs!!!!!
How appropriate. “Sistahs of Swat”. I think this one will stick. Coolen will probably approve the moniker.
ahouse come on now show some luv for da place cause could apply to you (old beat up) lol
ahouse wishing and hoping weather clear but lotta clouds still and can’t see waianae range
eh patnah hows dem ceeded land skies looking?
going break and back in 20
lattas
My uncle took me to Islander baseball games every friday & saturday night for many years. Never caught a foul ball, but my mom only went to one game and while crocheting, got hit by a line drive to her shoulder and with her quick reflex, she held onto the ball. I recall ushers coming to take her away to see if she was alright, I didn’t mind, got my first foul ball, thanks mom.
Great memories at the old termite palace and going to Longs Drugs before game to pickup 5 candy bars for 19 cents
For UH basketball fans and recruiting junkies, a story on Dayton Morinaga’s web site:
The Hawaii basketball team is in the running for an elite European point guard.
Andrej Pajovic, a former starting point guard on one of Montenegro’s junior national teams, has Hawaii high on his list of colleges for next season.
I remember Charles Clay from HIlo high. This boy got a good upside. Good head on his shoulders and god given speed. But that is what I remember him most from — track, not football. Good luck to him if he does transfer. I’m sure teammate Loefler will be ecstatic.
BIK
Aloha Chuck Tanner. I went to many Islanders baseball games when I was younger since we lived just down the street.
No way can a stadium be built again in the old Termite Palace spot. You’d have to tear down my residence and I don’t think I’d like that.
More gardening and then off to campus…
Howcome, tv guide shows the wahine game on K5 and the SA sports TV guide, doesn’t.
chuck tanner…rip.
he always made a little time for the park rats.
well slugger look at it this way…you won’t have a problem with slugs no more.
but yah, they could aquire the neighboring properties including the varsity theatre and have enough parking and all.
RIP Chuck Tanner.
RE: #50
Derek — sounds like we sat in the same stands in the Islander era. I used to sit above the 3rd line. Johnny Werhas was a favorite of mine, along with center fielder Rod Gaspar.
Got my only foul ball at Aloha stadium. A frozen rope foul that hit below the seat next to me. No, I didn’t catch it, but dad and I were the only people within 10 rows. I think attendance dropped to around 500 at Aloha stadium.
al- da slugs aren’t in her yard…
SteveM
We also sat on 3rd line a little past 3rd base, about 15 rows up.
Aunty gave me $2 before each game for snacks.
I felt rich, more than enough in those days.
Chopsueyboy — small world. No doubt we were at some of the same games and probably sitting within 20 feet from each other. 🙂 How many rows did the sideline bleachers have–around 35?
Remember Tommy Lasorda when he was a AAA manager? Colorful guy and the fans used to jeer him and throw bags of chips and stuff. He would pick up the unopened ones and put it in pockets… 🙂
SteveM
Did Tommy L manage Spokane?
I used to hang over the chain link fence before games collecting autographs for my baseball.
Steve M. – my friends and I always sat by the 3rd base stands right above where John Werhas was around 15 rows up. We always walked to the stadium because we were living on Waiaka Road (where the Contessa is) and we would always buy discounted tickets because every game would be a promotion, such as National Guard nite or something like that. Game tickets were about $2 bucks if I remember on those promotions. In those days, we didn’t have a lot of money but the dollar went a long way compared to today. For UH games, we always sat in the Diamond Head end zone, just below the big clock.
chopeueyboy my fondest memory is this man standing on third base dougout roof holding a fishing pole with a fish handing from the line whenever chico salmon came up to bat for the oddah team.
$2.00 today will get you jail time.
Jail time because you’d end up stealing money to add to the $2.00 to actually buy something.
too bad you didn’t know me back then derek…i would have shared the secret entranceway.
whoootahhh!
mail person cometh with special package from los angeles, california.
in it, my exclusive super bowl commerative tshirt with the aaron rodgers mvp going on the back too. #2 son is currently strongly negotiating its wear right now.
…and, there’s more. i get an autographed photo of the great (other) #12, that be (rainbow) cliff sanchez is in all his glory and short shorts.
mahalo to cliff and his good buddy who created this shirt and of course without his generosity, the honorable tom mui.
great big mahalo to you all.
john werhas…was first and always a nemesis to the islander pitching staff as spokane indian. he was later traded to the islanders and did a short two years here.
today, it is pastor john werhas, the senior pastor at rock community church.
Derek and chopsueyboy — interesting to think that we sat within feet of each other back then…and now, 35+ years later we “meet” here on the blog. There are probably more.
My greatest shock was when piecing together clues, I learned that Al was my classmate…. and that was 40 years. 😯 Second shock was hawnstln who decided to tell me his real name one day. Third surprise was Rokko>/b>, one of those guys with a lot of alphabets and periods after his name, who figured my identity after a month….back in 2007.
OK, not going to the softball game – starting to pour in Kailua and Koolau mountain all covered in dark clouds – Manoa valley on the opposite side – plus Midori says there are really, really dark clouds hanging over her work place which is just outside of Manoa valley
so, I goin blame Koakane for the rain!!!
RE: Cash donations at softball games.
As it was done last year, accepting cash donations for the softball program must be coordinated and approved by UH administration.
We will explore this again this season. We will make announcements regarding this when they are available.
For now, all interested individuals may donate online to the UH Foundation at:
https://www.uhfoundation.org/give/giving-gift.aspx?allocation=12095304&site=AKA
ALL monies received goes DIRECTLY to the Rainbow Wahine Softball program.
The Na Wahine Softball Booster Club is still taking applicants for the 2011 season now. Applications can be downloaded at http://www.nawahine.com. All membership fees and outright donations to the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club ALSO will go directly to the Rainbow Wahine Softball program.
A-House,
Chance em!!! 😎
Uhhh, maybe not.
Mr. A-house – well den, go watch volleyball! It’s indoors!
#80 Anybody that rhymes with Savovic is okay with me!!!!!! I hope we can get a good player from Australia one of these days. Somebody like Andrew Gaze, who was a great player at Seton Hall under Carlesimo. We had a shot at Luc Longley, but he went to New Mexico. Patrick Mills, ex-Saint Mary’s was also a great player.
“Monster” Masch is a keeper. Everytime Masch gets a sack or a tackle the band should play the Monster Mash!!!!
The best Triple A team, the 1970 Spokane Indians that beat the Chuck Tanner led Hawaii Islanders for the PCL Champsionship. Did you know the Islanders drew over 462,000 fans that year? Amazing. The Spokane starting lineup looked like a major league team.
P – Doyle Alexander and Charlie Hough
C – Bob Stinson and Steve Sogge (ex-USC QB)
1B – Tommy Hutton
2B – Davey Lopes
3B – Steve Garvey
SS – Bobby Valentine
LF – Tom Paciorerk
CF – Bill Russell
RF – Bill Buckner
The next year Ron “Penguin” Cey joined the team and Garvey moved to 1B and Cey became the 3B.
Pfffft….
Flood advisory…
I ADVISE dem fo shaaat up. 😆 😆 😆
See… 5pm. Rainbow Wahine take on UC Davis right at 5PM…
I knew it… the world is not ready…
Aiesoooos!!! Cannot dispute that!!!
AL: re#96
So where is your photograph – with you in it?!
Guy in the Office – what is Dayton’s website?
Dayton’s Web site is: warriorinsider.com
Back then, to this local kid, places like Spokane, Eugene and Tacoma may as well have been cities near Timbuktoo.
ahouse thank you I will take you off da hook since you old and might catch pneumonia
They had the best saimin stand in the left field corner of the old Honolulu Stadium…I remember being part of the UH marching band and doing the last half-time show on the field. Also, remember doing a half-time show in the pouring rain and leaving my shoe in the mud somewhere in the stadium. Our white pants weren’t white anymore. 🙁
Can’t remember who dissed the old Honolulu Stadium, but it had ALOT more class and character than Sam Boyd stadium where UNLV’s games are played. Now, if you’d like to call someplace a “pig pen.”….
Kazz – da Sistahs of Swat gonna up the flood gates of HOME RUNS! 😆
i resent it to you mr.mui.
stevem…i am not that old. it was my older brother who was your classmate.
Oh well Ralph.
Sisters of swats makes them sounds like nuns.
Congrats to Brittany Hewitt.
Islander games were the only time I ate saimin and drank beer at the same time. I used to sit around 3rd base about a half way up the stands.
That’s why it is Sistahs of Swat.
Suggestion was made about a week ago to take a look at Frank Gansz Jr. as a candidate for the Warrior’s special teams job. Word on the street is that he may be a candidate for the same postition at SMU. It is rumored that Gansz is very unhappy with the way the UCLA head coach treated Norm Chow several weeks ago and wants out of Westwood.
Sorry… I keep forgetting that. Must be my age. 😐
So how long I gotta wait for you to catch up? 🙂
Awesome work! Keep posting good material.
Excellent indeed. I have been looking for this information.
Good evening, everyone!
Coaches must have good reasons for the personnel moves.
Go Warriors!
Go SoftBows!
Be the titas!!!
Were the softball scores the same for both nights?
Weird.
‘Atta way SoftBows!
Being the Titas!!!
Yea, SoftBows!
Watching the Volleybows. Now in Set 3. UH thinking brooms..
Safety BRandon Leslie from College of the Seqouias committed to Hawaii
Looks like Mack made a smart move by saving a scholarship… 3 star recruit who originally signed with Georgia Tech our of high school. Offers to Arizona, Nevada, Iowa St. Nice pick up
Go VolleyBows!
Bowwar #112:
I believe I was the one who “dissed” the termite palace.
In the early 60s I was part of the YM-YWCA group of students, some 3-400 strong who would regularly go to watch UH. Then, the wooden “seats” were grey in color, sagging, twisted, cracked, etc.
Perhaps we saw you in the “mud” with the Marching band whose white shoes and pants were brown when your performance was done. Just like the game with Oregon where our kick-off receiver left the ball in the end zone and recovered for a TD – he just walked away and we were yelling for him to pick up the ball. So many mud bathes cannot remember them all.
After returning from the service, the mud was still there!
Huzzah for the VolleyBows!
Whoo-hoo!!!
Gentlemen, you have two days remaining!!!
Nytal!
Helpful information here. I added your site on my favorite, so visit again.
Just noticed that Oceanic will be broadcasting “Second hand Lions” on TBS (channel 45 or 551 digital) at 10:00 PM tonight.
If I were casting Tsai-kos to play the parts of Michael Caine and Robert Duvall, it would be whitey and Rasu Begasu. I gave Rasu Begasu a copy but haven’t got one to whitey yet. Don’t know why they came to mind the first time I saw the movie…take a look. Funny. 😛
Hi, COLT!!!!
SteveM,
Jason can be the kid. 😆
Wat?…dey wen play tonight?..was going to da game but at 4:00 was at the Honolulu Palama
dining on some Kalbi and da rain was coming down like crazy! Me and my patnah wen tink ..no way going play tonight so wen go home…stuck in traffic fo loooonnnggg time and was tinking about the game…
It was a good volleyBow game!
I’m glad Rubber Band Man’s high-five was successful tonight.
Was good to see the Warriors working out on the “hill” yesterday. Running shuttles up da hill over and over again. Putting in the time to be great this coming season!
GO WARRIORS!
Na Wahine was a bit tight early in the game last night but then…. “all hell wen broke loose”!
Still need the bottom half to get better but they will be coming around. Na Wahine looked pretty good for a first game.

12. Bryan Clay, Fr.
13. Mike Sellers, Fr.
14. Kendrick Van Ackeren
Some guys might change positions. McBride, Hill, and Van Ackeren are also slated to practice at linebacker. Henderson can play WR or SL. The coaches will huddle and make decisions based on how the players do in the spring and in the fall. Freshmen might redshirt unless diamond in the rough like Hardy-Tuliau surfaces. Mike Wadsworth will return in 2012 after completing his church mission. He should be in the mix at safety or as a nickel back. Lots of potential in this group with speed and athleticism. We don’t have anybody running in the 4.3s, but we have some guys who can run in the 4.4s and 4.5s. Main thing they can be good cover guys and be solid tacklers. Let’s try to find somebody who is a big hitter. It will be very interesting to see who will be in the 3-deep depth chart.
Henderson is gray shirting.
Cant get enough of this blog. Your opinion and facts truly let people know what its all about.
#114 AL – I saw the pictures of you and the Green Bay shirt but not the Superbowl one!
MAHALO RAINBOWCLIFF!! You da man!
#96 – Al — I also received my shirt today..I enjoyed RC’s message & pic. Sure brought back memories as I played for the UH band during his years & attended most of his games.
Way to go Wahine. Whew squeaks by Texas State in extra innings.
The bottom of the order came up huge. UH can play small ball too.
d1島 — you’re right. Looking at it again now, Jason as Walter the Kid. 😆
#132 – Yes, you may have seen me & others mire in the mud, as I also was in Castle’s marching band before going on to UH. In my days, the always insisted on those white pants & shoes despite the Manoa rain & mud. My mom used to have a cow whenever she saw my mud stained pants…Those were the days.
You guys are sure historical.
This is Great. Cheers.
Congrats Wahine SB and men’s VB.
Mahalo, RK, for your report on Colt.
tom mui
one day at a time.
one shirt at a time.
a stitch in time
saves nine?
promis ahmadi is playing on the offensive side of the line.
Jeezy – I think there is probably more than one scholarship available due to the amount of recruits who are apparently greyshirting (e.g. Henderson, et.al.) and there are a couple who may not meet the academic requirements, so they may have to go the JC route or possibly hope for a greyshirt as well. Don’t be surprised if there are a few more players that are announced in the next few weeks.
Na Wahine had great games tonight. They proved it’s not the bats, that they can win games without homeruns and WOW! that last game against Texas State ~ hanging tough and pulled it out.
Na Wahine are the No. 1 seed tomorrow and will play at noon. Then we’ll have to see how it shakes out for the 2 pm & 4 pm games.
Great MVB game, too. Saw A-Joe, jm2375 & the Screechers.
Hele’d back to the softball stadium to catch the last half of the UH-Texas State game.
See y’all there tomorrow!
Howzit Tsaikos!
Great games tonight for the Warriors and Wahine!
Booster club held a potluck tonight for both teams. Great way to get to know the players. We were chased out of there around 11. Peeked into the arena area and they looked like they were almost finished setting up for the Grand Slam Celebration.
mack has always tried to save a scholie until after the loi date.
it is a good practice to wait and see exactly what you may need and there’s always some quality guys who were left on the table.
it was a week long battle of offense versus defense in manoa. a battle between the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator, i guess aranda won out. it is a great pick up since we need someone who can step in to play right away. brandon leslie is a beast no doubt and should be blowing guys up coming across the middle. i think he becomes a fan favorite right away.
Aunty Liz,
Got to meet Saui from the Garden Isle who will be on the roster next season. He was at the softball game supporting his cuz, Jessica Iwata.

Hello! gbcefkf interesting gbcefkf site!
Very nice site!
Wonderful post but I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this topic? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Kudos!
Good morning, everyone!

DPK on # 22,
Can I get an Amen about Colt? Nice to hear from youi, buddy!
SteveM, al, Derek, Koakane, chopsueyboy & others,
You bring back such nostalgiac memories for me too at the Termite Palace. God Bless Chuck Tanner & those Islanders. Just loved the PCL. Remember when Winston LLenas narrowly lost out on the PCL Batting title (by percentage points) to Bobby Valentine? Man, those were the
days!! After the games, we sometimes moseyed over to play with some of the pinball machines at the Stadium Bowl-O-Drome.
Derek on # 143,
Thanks for the depth chart. I didn’t see Bubba Poueu-Luna listed. I was truly looking forward to see him play. Was that an oversight or did something happen to him that I don’t know abouit? I was pretty disappointed they red-shirted him in the past season, but the added year should help absorb the schemes, etc.
I saw Colt yesterday.. He always appreciate the aloha from our fans. He also seems energetic and motivated to get back on the field.
Imua Colt!
Great Morning All!
According to “ferd”:
Dark clouds brewing for UHAD….SB120.
http://www.staradvertiser.com/sports/ferdswords/20110212_Bill_could_jeopardize_funds_for_UH_athletics.html
Protector, it’s an oversight. The UH roster showed Bubba as a slotback. A lot of these guys can play defensive back or receiver as they have played both in high school. Whatever the coaches decide and what they see in practices. Sometimes, people get switched because of neccesity, other times a position is loaded. QB David Graves has also played defensive back also. But I think he will stay at QB this year and see if he can make a quantum leap to compete with Shane Austin for the primary backup to Moniz.
Good morning all!
Loved listening to the game with Texas State last night! The picture of Iwata sliding home in the earlier game is classic. If she had slid “correctly” hooking away from the tag, she wouldn’t have been able to touch the plate and her foot would have been blocked off the plate by the catcher. To have Jessica AND Kelly both sophs is simply incredible! Add to that core for the next several years is the crop of excellent frosh. Watching Sharla behind the plate and at bat leaves a fan disbelieving she’s a true first year player. Looks to have an edge over Grimes as a hitter. No like bachi (throws salt over shoulder and make the sign of the cross) but she has all the potential for WAC FOY. AND, oh my, the bottom of the order came through in a pressure situation for the win. That has to be a confidence builder!
First base and 2b both look unsettled still, but you know Coolen will have things in order by the time conference play comes around.
RE: #170
Hi Protector — glad to see you back online. Hope your computer problem was resolved easily. I used to drive down to Stadium Bowl-O-Drome to play with the pinball machines separately…until I “learned” the nickel ones. 🙄
…then go to Chunky’s Drive-In for a beef cutlet since Grace’s was only a daytime lunch wagon back then. 🙂
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Slugger- Glad you met Saui. Uke-boi played baseball with him for many years. Saui’s ohana are all athletes. There will be more making the rosters in various sports. Hope they play for UH!
Hilosupaman- thanks for the Colt-sighting!
Morning, gangees! Morning, DPK!
I remember hearing Coolen saying something about using the first 27 games to settle the lineup so I expect to see a lot of players getting a shot. I think the competition will make them all better in the end.
Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive read anything like this before. So nice to find somebody with some original thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for starting this up. this website is something that is needed on the web, someone with a little originality. useful job for bringing something new to the internet!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Could someone with little experience do it, and add updates without messing it up? Anyways, good information on here, very informative.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
