FRESNO — After practicing this morning in San Jose, where they stayed overnight following a direct flight from Honolulu, the Warriors were set to arrive in Fresno this afternoon.

* * * * *

The rivalry between Fresno State and Hawaii extends to recruiting … and post recruiting.

In February, Leilehua defensive tackle Netane Muti signed a letter of intent with UH. But Muti initially was told he projected to not meet the school’s admission requirements. Muti petitioned for a release from his commitment. UH head coach Nick Rolovich decided to grant the release, even though there still was a possibility Muti could have qualified. Muti then joined Fresno State. But in August, Muti suffered a season-ending knee injury.

In 2015, offensive lineman Ben Northup flip-flopped, de-committing from UH and signing with Fresno State. Northrup redshirted in 2015. Following spring practice, Northup left the Bulldogs. He now is on Azusa Pacific’s roster.

In 2012, Metuisela ‘Unga signed with Fresno State. But ‘Unga did not meet the requirements to enroll. A year later, he committed to UH. He now is the Warriors’ starting tight end.

Can an individual donate to cover a new helmet?

Say for example any one donor supports the total cost of a helmet assigning the helmet in chronological order starting with one. So if I am first I am donating to number one helmet.. then DPK would have #2 helmet. With corresponding j r Seymour number.

I’d be all in for that.

Hope they do the haka next season only after the game if they win. It’s starting to become a laughing stock to other teams and opposing fans. It screams mid-major and isn’t intimidating any team, maybe even giving them fuel to beat Hawaii.

    Guud Evening Tsaikos…Bootiful Evening!
Looking for a Warrior win tomorrow!
Interesting turn of events on the recruiting trail. The Muti situation is puzzling. UH projected him to not meet qualifications but somehow qualified at Fresno? He was “projected” but must have done some work to qualify. We miss the boat huh?

    Anyhoo, IMUA WARRIORS!

  15. NorthShoreFan November 18, 2016 10:38 pm

al, a very interesting proposal indeed. If it works out that donors can “sponsor” a helmet, count me in!…and maybe the sponsor can meet up with the player who receives the helmet.

He is the Word of life.
Listen to the word of the LORD.

For the word of the LORD holds true,
and we can trust everything he does.

People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.

  20. FearGod November 19, 2016 4:41 am

It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to the Most High.
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning,
    your faithfulness in the evening,
    accompanied by the ten-stringed harp
and the melody of the lyre.
You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what you have done.
O LORD, what great works you do!
And how deep are your thoughts.

Go Warriors Win this one for the Gipper

    Nice idea, al!

  23. Akamai Okole November 19, 2016 5:08 am

…huzzabout if the donor attends the end-of-year event, the player “returns” the helmet to the donor? (after severe deodorization!)

  24. Akamai Okole November 19, 2016 5:10 am

    Watching CGD.

It’s a great day to be watching from HNL!

I promise I really did spend all week writing the matchup story (that never shows up on the Star-Advertiser site). But it’s there. Somewhere.

  28. H-Man November 19, 2016 5:56 am

This season, I have gone from optimistic to hopeful. Hopeful that the Warriors win the last two games of the season and maybe an invite to the Hawaii Bowl. At first, I was not supportive of the team going to the Hawaii Bowl, but then I read it would allow for 15 additional practices going into the off season. So the Warriors are challenged to bring home the “Golden Screwdriver” trophy as a step to the Hawaii Bowl.

Found your game day info under “more sports”. Certainly much more informative than the other two pieces regarding today’s game. Don’t know who is responsible for editing and placement of coverage but they could use some direction and assistance-GoWarriors!!!!!
