Thursday’s practice
• Right wideout Jovonte Taylor missed his third consecutive practice while receiving treatment on his infected right arm. He is suffering from a staph-like infection. The coaches remain hopeful he will be available to play in Saturday’s game against New Mexico State.
• Joe Avery and Craig Bell have been sharing reps as the No. 1 right wideout.
• Kealoha Pilares and Dustin Blount have been practicing as the kick returners in Taylor’s absence.
• Wideout Royce Pollard, who is recovering from a hairline fracture in his left fibula, had a setback during yesterday’s practice. He is experiencing pain in the area, and he did not participate in full drills today.
• But safety Richard Torres resumed practicing today.

We have a super saleswoman, Jessica Owens, who is smart, beautiful, funny, etc. But she’s a dropper. And a tripper. I know this because I was walking out of the building and she dropped two things in five steps. And she tripped. So I started to nickname her The Dropper.
And, as fate would have it, soon after. I dropped my tape recorder. And I tripped. Worse, I tripped in front of The Dropper, who said: “Bachi.” Indeed. So, to remove the bad karma, she no longer is The Dropper. And I offer a public apology to Ms. Owens. Or Super Saleswoman.
Foist!
The give and take of the injury gods….
top ten?
three
This season it sure seems they are taking a lot more than giving.
Whoo-hoo!!!
Top 5!!!
Lucky 7
You know alot of people criticize Miano for the play of his db’s and his fondess of walk ons but Richard Torres is a great example of a walk on who contributes regularly, I mean his technique for tackling is solid he reminds me of Ryan Keomaka maybe not as fast but more physical
Go Warriors!

How embarassing, and, all right!!!

Cool. Lucky 13.
I just think it’s amusing when somebody says: “The purpose of the blog …”
I’m like, uh, wait, Doesn’t the host write the rulebook?
I am getting excited for the next game.
Both the team and the state needed that last win for a moral booster. Another win will help just as much.

Ah, we are finally blessed with a new post and I can see why it’s “late” as our fearless leader has been busy with all the photos as part of his opening this morning!
Must have been a bitch to transmit all those photos from his camera phone to the “whatever” so it appears on his work station and can be afixed to his opening paragraphs.
I think around 3 years ago in this month, a poster wrote, “This blog’s not about you, Tsai…”. Did anyone ever figure that one out? 😕
Anyway, remember to turn the other cheek…
A-House said “whatever”
Hi, jojo here. I hope the injuries heal well
rasu . . .
Previous post suggestions (that just sounds funny!) are great!!!
I need to be much more creative and imaginative. Shucks.
Hi <b<jojo — need coconut trees? 🙂
ST ~ That was instant karma.
Hope the guys get well soon. Don’t overdo it, though; let it heal.
Nice shirt, Hisatake. Nice model.
Off in search of lunch…Esme & whoosh….
jojo where were you?
you missed the dim sum lunch across the street.
Dis blog, supposed to be…………..eh????…forget it!!
Am I the only one who has net flix pop ups everytime I que into this blog site????
constant harrassment from netflix too
rasu begasu:
I had to use “whatever” cause of my limited vocab of computer related equipment.
Computers and I just do not get along – can’t figure why? – at work, only my station has problems or others are not reporting theirs making me look like the only dummy!
Our best to Mrs!!
chopsueyboy- I am using Firefox and it is catching the pop-ups pretty good.
HiHo!
letsgowarriors aka letsgobows has reported that stan hasiak has left the ucla bruins and went home for the weekend. somebody get this guy some sideline passes!!!
sorry he was home last weekend, hes back up in LA. i think the UCLA coaches are helping him out with dealing with things. we’ll see how it pans out.
Can’t drop the tape recorder Stephen. There’s gold in there. Gold!
letsgo,
Do you know whether he came home because of him being homesick or because of family reasons.
Just wondering
Dang! Did I miss any good deletions? Sounds like El Zappo has struck again!
Like Hisatake’s Tee-shirt, but Peter’s looks pretty cool too. I wonder if that shirt is from Hukilau Beach in La’ie?
The shirt says Hukilau Cafe. I think it’s from the Hukilau Cafe and not the beach. I’m not sure if the Hukilau Cafe on the shirt refers to the real one in La’ie, or to the one that was in the movie “50 first dates”, which was filmed at Kualoa.
letsgowarriors,
One LA paper had the news about 3 days ago about Hasiak being in Hawaii last weekend, but I didn’t post it due to the problems I had been having with the blog software. A day and a half later I saw the news posted on Hawaii forums, but I think the article they cited did have the same detail that the LA paper had.
Hasiak had gotten into several fights in practice and the UCLA coaches were working with him on anger management issues according to the article. I’ll dig it up tonight if I have time.
Today’s Las Cruces newspaper had some interesting info on NMSU. It looks like NMSU has two sophomore DEs that the OL will need to worry about.
Good afternoon gang!
I use Firefox and still get the Netflix pop-up. When I look at Brand X, I get other pop-ups. Seems to be only da 2 newspepas, none of the other sites I frequently visit have the problem.
Get well soon to all the injured UH athletes, but listen to the docs and trainers, please!
Thanks Stephen for answering my question about LWJ’s shirt from Tuesday.
hello tsaiko country and warrior fans just waiting to see if the predictions of the weather peeps going be correct. more rain, cold front to hit the island the next couple of days.
btw anyone besides me see al on the 6 pm news yesterday. hawaiian was celebrating their 100th year of operating in 808 and lei’s were being passed out to people returning to Oahu from Maui. dea he was………

Wow. I hope Mr. Tsai does not get fingeritis a la G. Jetson!!!
Just chiming in on the Coach Duff thread.
I met him and his family at my neighbors son’s b-day party awhile ago. Jameel Dowling was with him- nice guys. After Hawaii beat UDub in 2007 to go 12 and 0, my friends and i continued the celebrating at a local Kailua watering hole, and who shows up? Coach Duff! Needless to say, we threw down a bunch of shots while cheerfully discussing the Warriors getting to a BCS game. Duff reminded me of a proud Papa that night. All the best to him and his ‘ohana!
Whoa, looks like the folks in Hana and Hawi are getting some rain. Still mellow on the Kauai front.
whoosh!
Looks like Nevada will be hosting Cal in Reno next year:
http://www.nevadawolfpack.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=10000&ATCLID=204832028
CRW,
I guess that means that Cal gets 2 home games and Reno gets 1, the same deal that Texas got with UTEP.
The single big pay day should more than make up the travel costs for teams that are relatively close in proximity.
50
I found a bunch of articles about Hasiak in the 5 LA-area papers that cover UCLA. This LA Times article is dated yesterday but it was on their website Tuesday afternoon.
wafan,
Yes, I’m sure that Cal and Nevada will bus to the other team’s stadiums. If Cal takes a bus to play at UCLA, they sure will bus to Reno! That saves them money and they also make extra money because their fans can easily get to their road game.
Bears’ destruction hasn’t materialized yet.
…actually, nothing has materialized yet in this game! 🙄

That tee shirt is from the cafe which is a block or so away from the beach. They feed the folks on Styrofoam plates and have dishes like Loco-Moco, Beef Stew Omelette, and the famous Hukilau Burger, (teri-beef patties and fried egg on top). They got a five star rating from customers. Sounds like a good place to check out! Try click on my name and you’ll see da surfboard.

Are you back on Firefox? Wondering if disabling the Microsoft plug-ins fixed your blogging issues.
TD Niners!
I think Rugby got added to the next Olympics??? So if he can stick with the team, Leonard Peters has a chance to go to the Olympics….
I saw one Rugby game in ’83 while traveling through Ireland. Didn’t understand the game at all.
man it got dark all of a sudden. the clouds looks like its filled with water just waiting for the right time to buck a loose. was that thunder I just heard. stay dry all.
Stopped off at home to change my clothes – really wet – before heading off to a meeting in Kane`ohe.
Do read Charlie Memminger’s latest blog.- wonder if the subject would be interested in becoming a Tsai-ko?
Re computer woes – I thought it was just I who was experiencing them all. Several posts yesterday and the day before flew off into the ether while I sitting there doing nothing except checking for errors.
Received some information on the Aloha Stadium turf replacement which is contrary to what I’d been told several months ago so I’m trying to confirm with someone else is closely connected to the project. Will share what I’ve found out when the double-checking process is finished.
Also updated the current status of the ushers and their employment status.
BTW – wassup with Saturday’s T-Gate? Will it still be held if the weather turns out to be really carppy?
I know the game won’t be postponed. However, if it’s raining like this on Saturday, I’m not so sure I want to sit for three hours in heavy rain. Maybe we can move way up into the Nosebleed Section.
Time to go – have a good evening.
Just wanted to get a plug in for my niece who’s playing libero for the State HS Girls West volleyball team (OC16 @ 7pm). Small, but energetic. Go, Tina!
Will the UH women’s VB away games be televised at any time? The writer mis-spelled Stephanie Ferrell’s last name in the HA article.
Hmmm humidity is a bit up since this afternoon in Kaneohe, but otherwise I can still see a lot of sky up there.
W-Doc,
I was just thinking about the roof leaking this coming weekend. You can see daylight if you look up. Maybe we need to set up tents under the shelter. Lightweight plastic sheets over the food?
I’ll have a bunch of recyclables this weekend.
Gotta boogie for a bit. Esme & out…
Kazz,
Read your email. Thanks!
Da calm be4 da stom – no wind, no rain, no stars 2 see, only ugly black clouds filled wit wata – ho man, goin rain beeg time soon!!

Royce Pollard really wanted to get out there and play in the Utah St. game, but sounds like his leg isn’t. Gotta give the body time to heal.
I think I’ll bring the Estes t-shirt to the next T-gate & give it away. It’s really too big for me & I don’t want to cut it up. There’s a nice kapa pattern part of the way down the front.
Whee! Tina serving ~ the commentator called it a “hot serve”. Good girl. The West team’s already won 2 sets.
Well, any chance we had of getting Ray Hisatake’s shirt went out when we reported on his fall.
OC16 Invitational ~ West bests the East! Yay!!!
Love Hisatake’s shirt cuz the Golden Gate Bridge is on it…I left my heart …
Rutgers did a great job of disposing of South Florida tonite at PISCATAWAY, NJ, and their only two losses were to BE foes #5 Cinn and #12 Pitts.
The Scarlet Knights defense, held the Bulls to only 159 yards and kept South Florida off the scoreboard.
I didnt believe the Scarletknights would amount to much in 2009 but, hey, 7-2 aint bad.
Of course, The BE is notorious for creme puff IC scheduling.
Rutgers had Howard, Texas Southern, Army, FIU and Maryland on their menu.
Rutgers is an A-Q team and their SOS is weighted by their conference….and such things make Kings.
Lightening, but no rain yet…
ST- especially when Leila is LOL when Hisatake recreates the moment…
The Aggies have the worst offense in the FBS.
In their last three games (LaT, FSU and Ohio State) they scored a combined 10 points and were held to 142 total yards against LaT.
They have a 2:1 run preference to pass.
NMSU beat Utah State at home 20-17.
The aggies are dead last, #120, in FBS total offense and average 232 ypg.
They are horrible at passing and average under 100 ypg.
However, they are tied at #71 w ND in rush pg at 138.
It appears like a no-brainer. Cut off their legs and you kill their game. The aggies have no air force.
The problem is Hawaii ranks #108 in run D and yields more run ypg than NMSU produces.
We shall see….and the yohos say the best D for Hawaii is spelled with an O.

Nice to see Leonard Peters again… hoo, da heah st looooong!

anyone home?
Okay…I’ll try to help us get there.
Hi Liz!!
I think NMSU’s game plan is: Seth Smith left, Seth Smith right …
I think this is the right game to wear my cowboy hat & boots. Just have to get a green lei papale.
Okay…so when the Cowboys aren’t playing the Redskins…I still have to cheer against them since the Broncos are my second oldest son’s team. Good thing that Colt isn’t playing this year.
Naina-sev’n
Thanks ST…hopefully you’ve passed that on to the team!
I think we’re gonna make it!
Trying to make sense of the bracket predictions for D3 championships…
…can’t imagine a play-off in FBS!

Nine-Oyasumina-tsai…
Wow… NMSU first year coach is having the team arrive on Friday .. .lose on Saturday… and go home that night. Any delays on their arrival will really have an adverse effect on their play. Tsk.. tsk…
Yea! Broke 100! Mahalo Ka Kou!
Very interesting doppler radar-watching this evening.
Rain clouds collapsing all around Oahu but with the exception of a brief time on the Leeward Coast, Oahu’s been pretty dry.
Hope Lewis Walker’s worked on his timing, or maybe it’s estimating, I don’t know. There were a couple of running tackles he was trying to make coming across the field where he missed intersecting with his man. Wonder why? Physics? I know it’s hard to do, running at full tilt & being able to hit a guy running away from you. Good luck, Lewis!
k. Looks like the storm is finally making landfall around Poipu.
d1- yeah- weird storm. mostly out at sea.
It’s getting louder now but still no rain.
Tomorrow’s LA Times has an update on Hasiak being back with UCLA.
madeinhawaii,
I used Chrome most of today, but went back to Firefox tonight since I’m just more used to it and like it better. Turning off the Microsoft plug-ins seemed to help, though things are still not perfect with my posting to and refreshing this blog.
Since the blog software actually seems to be working okay now, I’ll do the free play links. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want to read the off-topic stuff. I have over 40 good ones to choose from but I’ll limit this to 5.

About 100 kids in the US die from the flu in a normal flu season, but in the first 6 months of this year (which is normally the lightest portion of the year for flu problems) 540 kids have died. The normal flu has 90% of deaths for people older than 65, but the swine flu has 90% of deaths for people younger than 65. The projected 5,400 deaths for children from the swine flu this year means that the death rate for children is 20-40 times greater than the normal flu.

Goodnight, gangeez!
remember art linkletter’s segment, “kids say the darndest things”??
reading post #108 made me chuckle as she is creating her own football jargon just like those kids on that show.
“estimating”…..huh?….hmmmm.
cute yah?
hey koakane….that was my twin brother.
How odd… the only time I had problems with the blog in recent weeks was when ST twittered that the blog was down.
Otherwise, it’s been smooth sailing on my end… Opera, IE, Firefox, or Chrome.. even K-Melleon runs okay.. except it crashes when the Tiser tries to force too many pop-ups.
what a long day.
anyways. here’s the news, which is also late.

Well, why not #130!?
Good night folks, and stay dry.
Yea, the free time links are back. They are better than the news.
If you ordered men’s basketball season tickets, there’s an insert from Jim Donovan and Amanda Paterson, the Compliance Officer, about NCAA rules re interactions between a “representative of UH’s Athletic Interests” and prospective student-athletes. I learned a lot such as the rules of engagement start in Grade 7 for basketball whereas for all other sports, they start in Grade 9.
There must have been such major incidents in which money and favors were exchanged for these rules to have been put into place. Will track down more information over the next couple of weeks.
I suggest that folks who have young athletes in your family who may be good enough to play the sport in college need to check out the rules with the Compliance Officer at any institution. For example, if you make a donation to Wahine volleyball or Men’s football this year and then your granddaughter or grandson decides to play that sport four years from now, you MAY be in violation of NCAA rules if you provide any kind of financial support to the family. There is no time limit in being a booster.
Family members may be excepted from the rules, but it needs to be checked out.
Any background information on what schools, what athletes & when these acts took place which then led to these rules would be most muchly appreciated.
Another big weekend of sports – Bill Amis, hurry up and heal since we need you back on the team by the holiday tournament braceting the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl. As for the six-game suspension against Douglas Kurtz, it really seems a shame to hold someone responsible for actions committed outside of the United States at the age of 17. However, he’s to be commended for taking the hit and getting past it.
Nitenite – another long day tomorrow including a visit to the Toothmeister.
Whoops!!! braceting = bracketing
Slow day. Hump day hangover.
Warrior bb starts today.
GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!
Good morning Tsaiko Nation, It is Aloha Friday which means YOUR life on an island deep into the Pacific will be of tranquility & bliss when you RISE and smell the ocean currents, BREATHE the trade winds through out the day as it does not matter if rains or mist comes ONLY because the SUN will eventually break out and you will see BEAUTIFUL Diamond Head in Full scale with the smile and laughter engaging Hawaiian people of ALL cultures as Oahu will be in rare form as the “True Gathering Place”.
Makiki, Hawaii Kai, Kapahulu, Kailua, North Shore, Pearl City, Kaneohe, Ala Maona and Manoa Valley “Can you see me now my Hawaiian eyes” as the LOVE for you GREAT folks will NEVER grow old BECAUSE the island chains of Molakai, Maui, The BIG Island and “Liz Kauai” will keep us in the “chain” better than Fleetwood Mac and lead singer Stevie Nicks could ever sing or do.
Nothing could be finer then to be in Aina Haina “IN THE MORNING” with portuguese sausage & eggs, rice / spam with some good GUAVA JUICE to wash it all down while you get ready to drive the H1 freeways NO matter if traffic is bumper to bumper for all that has to happen then is to look in your rear view mirror and see the Keikei on the passenger side or back as he or she is the “reason for the season” !
So my beloved Hawaii “TSAIKO NATION” enjoy your day and make sure you HUG your friend, neighbor, love one, foe, associate or professional colleague as LIFE is short and we must live it to the FULLEST and what better way to show any affection through gesture of care, warmth, sincerity and kindness.
“For God so love the world that he he gave his ONLY begotten son that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
For I am the Alpha and Omega, World with out end AMEN” !
Vaya Con Dios Tsaiko Nation and Imua Warriors !
Happy ALoha Friday everyone!!!
Wow, Keith Amemiya stepping down is really, really bad news for high school sports in Hawaii…
SteveM,
I haven’t tried Safari and I think I’ll just stick with Firefox for now.
Ferd’s article had an interesting comparison of salaries for assistant coaches.
UH assistants make a total of about $1 million per year.
NMSU assistants make a total of about $470,000 per year.
Boise State assistants make a total of about $1.6 million per year.
The UH-NMSU game is on ESPN 360 and ESPN Gameplan according to SportsHawaii.
Great Morning All!

al,
As I always caution, I know nothing… 😀 I can only ask in words to describe what I see. Sooooo, what does Lewis need to do to make his tackle? I’m sure the coaches reviewed the film & let him know.
Not much rain here yet…better go out to the garden before it does rain.
Good Morning All! Happy Aloha Friday!! GO WARRIORS!!!
dj . . .
How are things on the otherside of the hill? Hope you are doing well!
The blog clock is around 15 slow.
UH has always had ‘staff’ problems… but now they’re infectious.
wafan,
it was chilly last night. Very foggy in parts of town too. We are supposed to get snow this afternoon, but it’s warmed up quite a bit. Probably gonna be rain instead of snow. As long as it’s not freezing rain. I think that’s the worst stuff.
Just read the article in The Other Downtown Daily about Keith Amemiya’s leaving the Hawaii High School Athletic Association. Word on the political street is that he is going to be the head guy in Mufi’s campaign for Governor with the expectation of getting a major position in the new Hannemann Administration come December, 2010 – assuming that he wins both the Primary over Abercrombie and the General over Aiona.
