Notes:

• Dew, Doe, Muir and Sellers already are enrolled at UH. Dew and Muir are paying their way this semester, then will go on scholarship in July. Sellers is a grayshirt who was a part-time student in the 2010 fall semester. He is now on scholarship.

• It was an emotional day at Kahuku, where the signees remembered teammate Keoni Tafuna, who died in November.

• Of signing with UH, Amadi said: “It’s been a lifelong dream to get a football scholarship. I’m happy to be a Warrior.”

• Edwards created some drama, but he signed with UH. He said Hawaii will be a vacation spot for his parents, for him, it will be “my workplace.”

* Gray, Alo and Alexis are late signees. Or early ones. They will grayshirt and begin their UH careers in January 2012. Grayshirts sign scholarship agreements, which obligates a school to hold a scholarship for them. The grayshirt, who delays his enrollment a semester, is not bound to the agreement.

ST, chances on Bryant.. better than 50 50??

  11. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 5:45 am

Another question. What if a athletes signs a letter of intent with UH that we weren’t expecting one from? Say one of the local guys had a last minute change of heart? what would happen with numbers?

  12. 808ike February 2, 2011 5:54 am

Checked Bryant on Scouts & Rivals. No commitment.

  13. mctruck February 2, 2011 5:55 am

been trying to follow loi-day signings on espnU…..when Colorado’s TOP signings sprung-up on the screen, I thought for sure at least one of the three would hail from Hawaii…what a disappointment, NADA!!!

  14. mctruck February 2, 2011 6:06 am

let me rephrase that,(#13)…..of the top CSU signings…none of the Hawaii players who signed with them showed up on the scree/list as a top recruit.

“…As ye have faith so shall your powers and blessings be. This is the balance — this is the balance — this is the balance.”
    Morning meditation.
Thinking of all in need of prayer and assistance- in the Warrior Ohana, in the US, in the world, all tossed into the ocean of uncertainty.
God Bless and happy hump day!

  20. Pride. February 2, 2011 6:25 am

#20 – Sorry, that should be “do ye mean?”

  21. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 6:28 am

Jadeveon Clowney just said on ESPN Hawaii is his dream vacation spot. Beautiful women. Haha maybe we give up too quick for the true big timers from east coast.

  22. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 6:30 am

    Pride.–

Actually, according to Vanderbilt’s website, he hasn’t turned in his LOI. Am hoping he slept on it and will sign with Hawaii. He must still be undecided because it is 1130 vandy time

  23. RainbowCliff February 2, 2011 6:32 am

    Good morning Tsaiko Nation !

WOW what a response to the superbowl shirts from Darrin Washington Inc. The
young man is really an ARTIST with his silk screen art work for this superbowl that
will be a GREAT game to watch. His nephew Rodney Washington played for the bows
in the early 90’s. Mr. Washington offered ONE free shirt as that will go to Mr. A House
who answered first to the request as I wil BUY PC Warrior xl Black, PapaJoe2 xxl no color but I know you will love black, Waikiki Warrior xl black and Mark xxl black with my own money as Darrin is a peddler and helping him out will be what ALOHA is all about as I met him the first time in front of Bank of America and I had my Hawaii gear on as he smiled with JOY talking
about his time on the Islands !

You know it is so good reprensenting you good folks here in LA as I never know who I am
going to meet when the polynesian hospitality comes to light and I glow in it everyday here
in the city of the angels. Mr. Curt, always a pleasure and yes I play tennis every day as it keeps me in GREAT shape and my base line game is good as Aggasi and Michael Chang combined together. No BIG serve but good enough to hit the angles and lines as I set up for the forehand or two handed backhand base line game. LOVE tennis as I picked it up in Hawaii and with no more tendinitis I play it on a high level being the #1 ranked singles and doubles player in the South Bay !

Mark, you are so kind of the fond memories to I and my teammates all out play for the bows. During that time we LIVED for that moment as we LOVED the game and playing for you good folks was very special to all of us as we wore Hawaii on our uniform with GREAT
pride. Our schedule was tough every year as I can’t remember not one game during my 4 years that we “dog it” on the court. NEVER will forget my time as a bow and just coming back here to HONOR you good folks is just plain “PRICELESS’ !

Well, got to get ready for tennis this morning and then shower up at Magic 24 hour fitness.

Will find Mr. Darrin Washington Inc. as I know where he will be and get those orders to the above names that requested his awesome looking superbowl shirts. Will get back later on tonight and let you know what I have and need your addy to get them to you. Would like for you to have them in time before the Superbowl as I work “wiki wiki” in getting it done !

Mahalo to you GREAT folks of the Warrior Beat and have a WONDERFUL day !

  24. Pride. February 2, 2011 6:35 am

#23 – It’s a pretty good class already. Getting Bryant would just be a bonus. Of course hopefully they are all academically eligible.

  25. Bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 6:39 am

you are soo right,Pride. this is a GREAT class already.

okay Mr. Bryant, whatever makes you feel good, remember this much:

you get one life. this is it. make the best of it. make the most of the opportunities your God has given you.

plus, rememba dis: Hawaii get chicks.

    Go Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HiHo…

  34. dcwarrior February 2, 2011 6:52 am

#22 – jeezy, among mainland folks, saying Hawaii is a good vacation spot tends to be loaded with the implication that it’s not a place to go when you are serious about something.

  35. d1島 February 2, 2011 6:54 am

    from twitter (6 minutes ago):

    StephenTsai Stephen Tsai
I was literally at the crossroads: Waikiki or Kahuku. And here I am in Red Raider country.

  36. Pride. February 2, 2011 6:57 am

#36 – Either got up early or never slept.

  37. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:00 am

i was half joking. But sometimes just making contact with some big time athletes from all over can at least get u feedback from them. I bet there are a few big time recruits out east who see Hawaii as a dream school but we think we got no shot so don’t make a effort. Maybe a phone call or 2 just to see where we stand could be cool.

  38. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:01 am

Think about all the freezing snow areas of the US where if we sold our weather, could be a good tool. NEver would I thought Hawaii would sign a guy out of Ohio and it happened. Should be something for coaches to check out in future

  39. penis enlargement methods February 2, 2011 7:13 am

yes I agree with you! this shouldn’t be too in your exposure, it’s just a comment that supports the need to further increase the motivation to work more and more creative spirit.

  40. Bigislandkurt February 2, 2011 7:26 am

C’mon gang, do you really think having an oceanography or marine science program was REALLY factoring in to Bryant’s decision? Trust me, not many 17 year olds know too much about what they want to major in. So now bradduh is heading to Vandy, which is not near any ocean, but real good school in whatever he eventually majors in. He would have been icing on the cake if he signed with us, but I’m real happy with the class we have.

    BIK

  41. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:26 am

  42. Bigislandkurt February 2, 2011 7:27 am

    Follow Hawaii’s NLI day

  44. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:30 am

Honestly, Hawaii’s athletic website blows compared to every team in the country. Better off following Twitter.
As of now, I see Leaf, Henderson, KVA, Davis as signed

  45. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:32 am

Even June Jones is tweeting to his fans his LOIs.
UH needs to do something about its media. I know its 7:30 in Hawaii but its 9:30 in Cali and 12:30 on east coast

  46. Buffoman February 2, 2011 7:34 am

Looks like a pretty good group of folks coming to UH. Nice mix of terrific local talent and both national and international recruits. I have to think that it is really okay for young men to go away to play, just looking at who decided to stay and the folks who decided to come.

At the end of the day, as UH continues to be successful and those who choose to stay graduate and find life after football in Hawaii easier because they built a name for themselves playing before their future employers, others may ponder and have to weight the benefits of going away or staying as a part of a long term vision.

It has been said that football life at the pro level, if one actually gets there is 3 1/2 to 4 years. If someone has 6, he would be about thirty or so when he leaves. What does he do with the next 50 or so, especially if he did not manage his money well and did not get a degree and lost ties in his home state?

Good luck to all and to those coming, welcome to the islands!

  47. al February 2, 2011 7:50 am

wake me up when darien bryant faxes his signed loi.

  48. al February 2, 2011 7:51 am

maybe, perhaps for once a tough, last minute decision, finally comes our way….
can pray on this kind of stuff.

  49. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 7:56 am

    he signed with vandy

  50. Dominque Thies February 2, 2011 7:57 am

This is good info! Where else can i find out more?? Keep up the good work 🙂

  51. lava February 2, 2011 7:58 am

I noticed on average our recruits are getting taller. I suppose that comes with the territory of bigger framed guys. Has a D-1 feel to it, even though there isn’t a D-1.

  52. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 8:02 am

sua signed with WAZZU for all the hawaii fans who were praying on a last minute change

  53. Derek February 2, 2011 8:06 am

Stephen, is it a done deal that Justin Alo has agreed to grayshirt this year and join the program in January? Also, will you be publishing or reporting the walk-ons that have agreed to join the program? Thanks.

  54. Hunt February 2, 2011 8:13 am

Darien Bryant officially signed with Vandy.

  55. hawaiiansun February 2, 2011 8:14 am

Good to see the Kiwi and Aussie enrolled at Manoa. Both Dew and Muir are future investments. Best wishes to both and welcome to the Warrior ohana.
Dittos to Cecil Doe where his pursuits will hopefully follow UH legacy.

  56. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 8:16 am

can someone email UH athletics to get some damn updates. This is sad.

  57. puuloke February 2, 2011 8:16 am

I know this is off topic, but heard there are a number of football players looking for jobs to help their families cover expenses. If you are looking for some very strong, smart, nice kids to work for you, just call the UH athletic office and let them know. That’s how the community can help build a good program.

  58. tommui February 2, 2011 8:20 am

BHF2 – Howdy! Good for you!

  59. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 8:21 am

To the fans who all wanted Kalepa, he signed with Western Oregon. Probably good thing UH didn’t go to battle with a D2 school.
Peni Vea signed with Utah St.

  60. so what February 2, 2011 8:21 am

#57, what is stopping you from contacting uh?

  61. Buffoman February 2, 2011 8:22 am

Can these men #58 qualify for financial aid and be registered work study folks? Somehow I think that if there is a link that says their employment is all above board, folks would be more willing to pursue. Don’t want to get the young man or the institution in trouble by trying to be helpful. The other benefit is that if they are workstudy, the employer pays only a portion of the entire wage, which in turn makes it even more attractive.

  62. lava February 2, 2011 8:25 am

Michael Sellers — that name is new to me.

  72. Richie February 2, 2011 8:48 am

    ST,

At this time two years ago, two of our best local players to commit to UH on signing day, Chad Lopati and Benson Ma’afala, eventually ended up at Arizona Western College (JC). What steps have we taken to bring them home and has the program renewed scholarship offers to these players?

  73. al February 2, 2011 8:49 am

the hg could be hs or jc.

  74. MCB February 2, 2011 8:51 am

  77. Pomai February 2, 2011 8:55 am

We have a Governor on the team so I am more than satisfied with this class.

  84. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:05 am

Why didn’t UH offer sua-passi a grey shirt? Are there better LB’s next year?

  85. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:05 am

    *grey

    grayshirt

  86. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:09 am

We are pretty stacked right now at LB. Starr has a offer. Sometimes it comes back to bite you when you hold out for a better offer.

  87. RedZone February 2, 2011 9:09 am

Just checked and the Promise has signed.

  88. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:10 am

  89. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:10 am

    thx jeezy

  90. lava February 2, 2011 9:14 am

It is good Michael Sellers did not sign elsewhere, since he is already enrolled at UH. lol

  91. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:14 am

No problem…. The true Warriors who wanna play for the state would commit right away in my opinion. Unless you have serious BCS contenders on you like Oregon, USC. Makes a decision a little tougher.

  92. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 9:16 am

  93. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 9:17 am

    Morning Tsaikos!

Nice list of recruits!… 17 on the UH list… 2 Jucos…15 frosh…. ZOUNDS!… and the caliber of these players sure helps ease the angst of seeing our local boys going away to play..

WAY TO GO COACH MACK and CO!

  94. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 9:17 am

DPK!… hope you are doing better… Laureen.. you too! and Dr. Whang … you are not forgotten either.

  95. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:17 am

holding my breath. Right now Edwards has both letters from haw and cincy signed.. per twitter

  96. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:18 am

The only local recruit i don’t mind leaving is Mariota, and not because Oregon is a good team, but because it’s a perfect fit for his game (running, throwing, option). He’s not a pure passer that UH would want, and he would probably be a better WR for UH.

  97. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:21 am

Mariota would start 4 years for Hawaii. He is special

  98. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 9:24 am

so you think he’d easily overtake Mo next year if he signed?

  99. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:25 am

    redshirt, then start 4.

  100. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:27 am

His accuracy is a whole lot of ??????s

Manley was a lot better fit…

  101. Michigan Warrior February 2, 2011 9:29 am

Great looking list so far… I’m already smiling!

No matter what, we got some great coaches who know how to train these boyz for the next level. And many can make an impact instantly! Glad they want to be Warriors!!!

    Everything else is gravy!

  102. jm2375 February 2, 2011 9:29 am

    Good morning Tsaikos!

Happy Hump Day & NLI Day.

You guys crack me up. All these weeks of b***ing & moaning about no recruits and that the coaches weren’t doing enough. And now, you guys are gushing over what we got. Just have patience and faith that coaches are doing their best. So can we NOT have these conversations again NEXT year?

    hiho.

  103. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 9:31 am

Wonder why the UH site doesn’t have Henderson’s name up.. while ST does?

  104. Souljah February 2, 2011 9:31 am

    jm2375,

I’m totally smiling all day! Hopefully we can get a couple jems out of the walk-on tryout too

  105. RedZone February 2, 2011 9:34 am

    We need dlinemen.

  106. al February 2, 2011 9:35 am

holding my breath. Right now Edwards has both letters from haw and cincy signed.. per twitter

Good to see the fun and games on LOI Day NEVER change.

  108. bugaz February 2, 2011 9:41 am

so will the Maui LB be at UH today for the Walk on session?

  109. bugaz February 2, 2011 9:42 am

oh forgot, great job on the recruiting coach Mack and crew

  110. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 9:44 am

No worries about Edwards. His mom has to co-sign the letter.

  111. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 9:44 am

oh no…deja vu on edwards. didn’t we have a guy that did that to us before? big time OL that went to oregon state? signed both UH and OSU, said the was going to UH, then sent the signed LOI to OSU?

  112. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 9:46 am

Sweet…thanks for the heads up ST! so if mom has to co-sign and mom is in Hawaii… then…he’s going to…

  113. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 9:46 am

Not sure about Maafala, but Lopati, I’m told, does not have the requirements to transfer.

  114. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 9:46 am

    MIH:
It’s because I called Henderson. His signing ceremony was at 10 a.m. Pacific time

  115. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 9:48 am

Woodard said he just signed and faxed his letter.

  116. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 9:51 am

    what about Cofer?

  117. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 9:53 am

    Gant and Salanoa????

  118. RedZone February 2, 2011 9:53 am

    Alright we got a dlineman.

  119. Kazz February 2, 2011 9:54 am

EDWARDS TO HAWAII. – per Twitter

  120. H20 February 2, 2011 9:54 am

Good news that we don’t have to worry about Edwards. Cinci is doing video updates, very cool, and in the last one they said they’re actively fighting for one more recruit, that’s got to be Edwards.

    St,

later can you try and get UH’s wish list for this year’s signings? I remember last year there were 5 names, and we got 1-Dave Lefotu.

  124. runnshootsden February 2, 2011 9:55 am

any surprises we are waiting on sir?

  125. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 10:02 am

sweet…when i get back to the islands at the end of the month, i gotta get a shirt like that. gotta update most of my UH gear actually…still got the 12-0 and sugar bowl shirts. LOL!

  126. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:04 am

Mike Edwards said he just signed with Hawaii. He faxed the letter.

  127. Chee Hoo February 2, 2011 10:05 am

One of Mike Edwards tweets this morning…..”It’s cold and freezing out here”. No wonder why he chose Hawaii vs. Cincy!!!! Here that boys….Juda, KT, Asiata…..You’re going to freeze up in Boulder!

  128. Stretch February 2, 2011 10:06 am

#127 – thanks ST for the update, now STOP CALLING HIM (per his request)

  129. bugaz February 2, 2011 10:06 am

  131. runnshootsden February 2, 2011 10:07 am

did bryant send loi to vandy for sure?

  132. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:09 am

Cofer said he just signed his letter.
All in except Chris Gant, I think.

You mean he didn’t like me calling him four times a day?
That guy from American Samoa was killing me. I wonder if T-Mobile covers my American Samoa calls.

  134. Slugger February 2, 2011 10:10 am

    Good morning, gang! Hi, DPF!

Welcome to all of the new Warriors!

Got to meet Amadi when he was visiting. And someone named ‘Junior’, but don’t know what the rest of his name is.

  135. A-House February 2, 2011 10:10 am

Great job Coaches – congratulations on a job well done!

After 2 pm HST, it’s time to start on 2012 and 2013 recruiting.

And, please remember the “outer island” players!

  136. al February 2, 2011 10:12 am

bugaz…walk ons today must be enrolled full time at uh for this spring semester. therefore, hs guys have to wait. once enrolled they may tryout in the fall.

  137. H20 February 2, 2011 10:13 am

Neither Henderson or Edwards is on the updated 10:15am UH site list

  138. A-House February 2, 2011 10:13 am

The American Samoa player who decided on Arizona St, if you no like da place U can transfer to Hawaii!

Same goes to the 3 amigos signing with Colorado. Just don’t burn your bridges to home like some others in the past.

  139. Slugger February 2, 2011 10:14 am

Well, hey, that musta been Mike Edwards, Jr.

  140. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:14 am

    OK, the gang’s all here.

  141. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:14 am

    Gant signed.

  142. lava February 2, 2011 10:14 am

What was the drama created by Mike Edwards? He’s not particularly adept at pass coverage or stopping the run, and he’s been out of football for a year and a half, and he’s going to shake and bake on signing day? I hope he isn’t one of those guys that walks around referring to himself in the third person. lol

  143. al February 2, 2011 10:15 am

i wonder who is chasing gant’s tail in the eleventh hour?
or perhaps he needs to scurry to get both parents to sign the document?

salanoa could join the team in the summer, but, first as does all jc’ers he must attain the aa degree. he could be invited in the fall. i believe st clarified this in a previous posting.

  144. runnshootsden February 2, 2011 10:16 am

    nice!

    that was a great class

  145. SteveM February 2, 2011 10:16 am

    Good morning everyone!

    RE: #103
jm2375 — this is the fifth year in a row, but this year seemed more intense since the comment count is way down and they were mostly about recruiting. But things seem more positive this year and it’s good to see jeezy33 fly with Al’s birdie. 🙂

Welcome and congratulations to all our latest Warriors!

  146. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:16 am

And, again, not to worry about Henderson, Edwards or Cofer. I spoke with all of them.

  147. al February 2, 2011 10:16 am

thanks for your due diligence mr. tsai.

  148. A-House February 2, 2011 10:17 am

    OK, al –

how satisfied are with this recruiting class? seems like each year Coach Mack and crew secures better and better players which can lead to better win/loss records and more top 25 fininshes in years to come!

    U see any “surprises”?

  149. Chee Hoo February 2, 2011 10:17 am

#132 It’s a done deal. Listed on the Vandy website.

  150. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 10:18 am

    Thanks, ST!

Now come on Mr. Gant. Sign and fax is all you have to do.

  151. lava February 2, 2011 10:19 am

According to the list of signees, unless there is a typo, Brenden Dailey has been eating non-stop for the last 3 weeks. 355 lbs.

  152. A-House February 2, 2011 10:20 am

Speaking of transferring back home, what “transfer rules” have been put in place by the PAC 12 to make it so difficult for local players to come home?

  153. How to Jump higher February 2, 2011 10:21 am

    This is Fantastic. Appreciated.

  154. lava February 2, 2011 10:22 am

I’d give the recruiting class an A. We got a lot of guys that can potentially be impact players.

  155. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 10:22 am

Yay, none of the commits got poached on the 11th hour. I mean all came thru with their word.

and that’s what worries me. they must be thinking, “Damn… I have to deal with this clown while in Hawaii?? forget it.”

  157. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:31 am

I give Tony Tuioti a lot of credit. in four days last week, he went to california, texas, kansas and ohio. landed three players out of that.

  158. SteveM February 2, 2011 10:31 am

This is a really good post if I do say so myself. Jolly ‘ol me just couldn’t help but complimenting you…and no. I’m not spamming you. Just because I said good post doesn’t mean I’m automated =p.

  162. al February 2, 2011 10:41 am

tony tuioti embodies what today’s college recruiter should look like and do.

young and energetic. like the energizer bunny non-stop.
    task oriented.
    organized.
    computer literate.
    intelligent.
an example to every student/athlete and parent of what a university of hawaii student/athlete looks like, feels like, talks like, and becomes post grad (two degrees, one master).
    and a great salesman.

our vacant asst coach should possess those exact qualities.

  163. Graham February 2, 2011 10:42 am

Stretch what are you talking about. Players love the attenion from the press. Good job today Stephen- I really appreciate all the good news.

  164. Souljah February 2, 2011 10:44 am

    al,

and be a great coach and motivator

  165. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 10:45 am

  166. Souljah February 2, 2011 10:46 am

“T-Time” (Tony Tuioti) – Thank you for all your efforts

Aloha and God bless from Nalo town

  167. Ralph February 2, 2011 10:47 am

OT Ian Seau, DE 6’5 240, Carlsbad, CA. Nephew of Junior Seau, signs with K State. He was the 57 rated strongside DE in the nation by Rivals and the 83 best prospect in California.

UH picked up two JC DE, I guess the needs were immediate for UH then to look at a HS DE.

  168. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 10:48 am

SteveM – #159 – I’m in Campbell, Ca. Always been a lurker but been a Hawaii guy since birth. Only coming to the islands to visit my ailing father-in-law in Hilo. Maybe a swift kick in the okole from my wife would put him back into shape.

  169. A-House February 2, 2011 10:48 am

#163 – one must wonder, silently, who has all applied for the position and what is Coach Mack’s intent on how that vacancy will be utilized. if a person who has all of the qualities al mentioned in #163 is selected, Hawaii will be moving upward by gaint steps within the coaching ranks.

unfortunatley, in the future, some may decide to take the steps to improve their resume by accepting a position on the mainland – matter of ntural progression to becoming a HC!

  170. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 10:48 am

By the way, give credit to guys like Jeezy and Al for always being on recruiting. I know Coach Mack reads the blog daily (hourly?) and many of the suggestion by readers end up being discussed in meetings. Good job by all of you guys, as always.

  171. Ralph February 2, 2011 10:49 am

Lumpkin is the recruiting coordinator, so what’s he doing these days! maybe he is Al’s little birdie, what you say Al.

  172. SteveM February 2, 2011 10:51 am

Graham — welcome to the blog!

Stretch is only kidding and stirring the pot. ST has virtual 4.4 speed and can run down most athletes for a story. 🙂

  173. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 10:54 am

Can someone please give Mr. Edwards a better looking UH T-Shirt. Personally, it doesn’t look very appealing at all. Just my opinion.

  174. Souljah February 2, 2011 10:54 am

I’m glad the coaches take suggestions seriously.

  175. jm2375 February 2, 2011 10:55 am

#173 – *virtual* being the operative word here.

  176. Pomai February 2, 2011 10:57 am

Ching field or grass field for the walkon tryouts????

  177. Derek February 2, 2011 10:58 am

I think we got a great class of athletes, very athletic, speed, better height than past years, lots of potential to grow and get bigger and stronger. We didn’t sign any DTs, but it will be a priority for next years recruiting class. We are pretty much loaded for this year at DT.
I get the feeling a number of the freshmen will be able to play this year, i.e. Vele and Hill and KVA especially. Transfers like Edwards, Daley, Gant, Woodard will be in the mix and press for playing time. Henderson might be the returner that we have been looking for.

Good luck to Darien Bryant. In a way I feel sorry for him because Vanderbilt will be losing a lot of games and he has to get used to it which is not a real good feeling. Local recruits that are going to Colorado will be freezing their buns. It’s not fun going to class in the freezing weather. I’ve been there, done that. It is miserable.

  178. Souljah February 2, 2011 11:00 am

Any word if Woodard’s twin bro is going to try and walk on?

  179. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 11:01 am

    Pomai–

Do you know what time try-out starts?

  180. Derek February 2, 2011 11:02 am

Are Friel, Anguay, Lau, and Eselu all in school now and on scholarship? Are they part of last year’s recruiting class? Are Jackson and McBride on scholarship now or will be in July?

  181. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 11:02 am

    171. If thats the case, il be posting a database of 2012 guys who might have hawaii ties or flying under the radar. haha. Or screwed by another school like Juda Parker.

  182. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 11:03 am

I truely hope Mike Edwards makes a impact on the field and opening recruiting pipelines to Northeast areas. Shane Wynn would have been huge to have 2 ohio studs

  183. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 11:04 am

There are some who prefer the cold weather.

  184. WARriorOfLove February 2, 2011 11:04 am

    Thanks Pomai.

With 18 current signees, how many walk-ons are we taking? Anyone please

  185. SteveM February 2, 2011 11:07 am

808Fringe — Thanks. Campbell, CA puts you in with the Northern California (No-Cal) Tsai-kos with brew808 as the ringleader. 😉

  186. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 11:07 am

    looks like alo signed.

  187. Derek February 2, 2011 11:09 am

We have signed other footrball players from Ohio. The most familiar one is Jeff Sydner. He was a great football player. Remember, after scoring a TD he made a Heisman pose? He played a couple years w/ the Eagles.

  188. Souljah February 2, 2011 11:11 am

Bad news for Nevada…maybe the coaches will use against them some time…

    http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1045013.html

  189. Derek February 2, 2011 11:12 am

Seems like we have a void this year in getting player(s) from the state of Texas. It might not be a priority now since we’re getting most of the recruits from California.

  190. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 11:12 am

Haven’t seen this before…don’t know if it’s new or not.

The football team’s photo looks great.

    http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/roster.aspx?path=football&

  191. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 11:15 am

    189. Too bad he’s not a tackle. We missed out on 2 tackles. Schweitzer and Maiava.

What happened to LB Tyler Gray who claimed a offer from us?

  192. Pomai February 2, 2011 11:17 am

I think the walkon tryouts are at 4:00 PM not sure where but gotta be either the grass or ching fields. I’m going to the walkon tryouts then stick around for the Wahine BB game at 6:00, good deal only 6 bucks.

  193. BleedGreen808 February 2, 2011 11:19 am

    I’ll see you there

  194. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 11:20 am

It should be interesting to see what happens with the Washington state recruiting, now that Chris Tormey has left.

  195. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 11:21 am

Nice….so I read from time to time about cattle calls. Any happening between 2/19 and 2/28? Nah nah…just kidding.

    Jeeeez jeezy33…you da man!

  196. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 11:22 am

Not entirely sure of the breakdowns, but Shaw got the offensive linemen and Cecil Doe, Brian Smith got Gregory and Daley; Rolo got the receivers and Leaf; Miano got the Clay and the Kahuku guys. Tuioti got the previously mentioned, as well as Woodard.. Not sure who got Vele.

  197. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 11:23 am

Walk-on tryouts begin at 4, but that’s filling out the forms in the auditorium. That’s closed to the public. The sprints are open to the public, and will be at Ching. Weight-lifting is closed to the public.

  198. Pomai February 2, 2011 11:24 am

#189- not surprised this coming from the “LITTLE general” I am so glad that we still get to play these guys how Kazz feels about Fresno is how I feel about reno.

  199. Bart Malbrough February 2, 2011 11:25 am

Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.. 🙂

  200. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 11:34 am

Yo ST! any way you and the princess can revitalize the show just for LOI and walkon tryouts? Dang i miss the show.

  201. WARriorOfLove February 2, 2011 11:35 am

ST- is it mandatory that a walk-on be current fulltime to participate? (wondering if the forms are for health insurance) Also what kind of sprints are we talking besides the 40?

  202. rage777 February 2, 2011 11:48 am

I like the cold, but I heard it was -2 in Boulder this week. My company almost sent me there this week and next week, so I am happy to not be going. Boulder is beautiful, but I would like to retire there and not go to school or work there. Boulder and Denver are pretty boring, which is probably why some kids get in trouble there. When I was in Boulder, I asked what can we do and they just told me to go to downtown Boulder which had a little shopping place like Fort Street Mall. The told me to go to downtown Denver which was a longer version of the Boulder street.

  203. LizKauai m/ February 2, 2011 11:51 am

Mahalo, ST. Signed, sealed and DELIVERED!

Now… when is the next contest??? 😎

808Fringe – Welcome out of lurkerness and into the world of words! Perhaps we can get your pops to join the Tsai-ko Shedders. We are going to shed a cumulative half ton of excess weight.

  205. Slugger February 2, 2011 11:53 am

Good job and Congrats to the UH Coaches on this recruiting class!

  206. Slugger February 2, 2011 11:56 am

    Welcome to the new bloggers!

  207. al February 2, 2011 11:59 am

ahouse…in two years we will know how good a class this is. i was hoping that at least six-eight local boys were on this list. however, the ones that we got from hawaii are all top notch and shall carry on the hawaiian spirit for years to come.

this is an unprecedented class in that there are nine guys who nationally have garnered much attention by being rated three star (8) and four star (1).

we have addressed our pressing needs by grabbing many wr/sb and defensive backs all of who have very good speed and size. many will make immediate impact as they will press the returnees for playing time.

we have several de’s or lber types who probably will compete on the edge. mack has a pension for finding big linebackers and turning them in to rush ends and this class does have several.

linebackers galore you say? got to have many of them for not only being transformed in to de’s or dt’s for that matter, but, for special teams as well as patrolling the line of scrimmage. and they all got size and tenacity.

three oline gets suffice when we have as solid a core of redshirt freshmen as we did this year. and the potential of all three new guys is immense.

runnings backs, we made a quick save when malosi te’o decided to devote his attention towards raising his family by adding jared leaf “em behind” late in the game. he along with will “to win” gregory make a great tandem of power and speed.

#81 It’s obvious that Tsai didn’t care too much about trying to obtain information about the status with Justin Vele, who probably was a phone call away, yet trying hard to contact penitito in Samoa. Seems like when Tigi an Ben all of a sudden committed yesterday to UH, Tsai decided to look the other way an throw Vele under the bus! Who also made the two boys the center of attention on this topic! Shame on you Tsai! When Vele was the first local prospect to commit to UH! He signed, sealed and delivered to the Warriors from the Sheriton Waikiki this morning. He may not have the stars and high ranking like the other athletes, but if you follow HHSA, you would know that he’s an athlete that should be rated high with all the so called stars an rankins.

#93 Who cares about scouts.com! That’s not going to tell you how an athlete with do at the next level! That’s part of the political manipulation saying that yeah! This is a three, four, five star athlete! We need to recruit’em! Come on now! Need to evaluate by watching tape!

  211. tommui February 2, 2011 12:10 pm

Great recruiting class! Congrats to Mac and the coaches.

    AL – the QB?

  212. WARriorOfLove February 2, 2011 12:15 pm

Ratings of players by the number of stars they have doesn’t accurately represent their ability to yolk as a team. What it comes down to is their ability to connect during practice in simulated, high level plays. Sure you can have eight 3 star-rated players and one 4 star, but how do we compare to our competitors’ recruiting class in our last year in the WAC like the boises and nevadas, as well as to the teams when we move up in 2012.

2010 was a better season because we had remarkable players at every position who can CHANGE the game, make it happen. Very resemblant of 2006 when our roster was loaded with outstanding players, one at every position who stepped up and took initiative to be a game changer.

Looking forward to 2012 as we set eyes on the QB who can run the offense like a Colt and Timmy. Good luck to Moniz as he endures his senior year… consistency is what makes great players.

  213. Ralph February 2, 2011 12:15 pm

Al we ate the rest waiting on you for news!

  214. papajoe2 February 2, 2011 12:15 pm

#93 BleedGreen808, I was looking at the WAC team’s 5 Recruits You Should Care About and noticed that Peni Vea was on both Idaho and Utah State’s list. Do you know if he has a clone? LOL. Let them 2 teams fight it out or is it just the WAC’s incompetence.

  215. 808Fringe February 2, 2011 12:17 pm

#211 what are you rambling about?????

  217. Ralph February 2, 2011 12:18 pm

Tsai didn’t throw Vele under the bus, he already covered Vele, and on NLI day he had to make a choice of where to be, Kahuku or Waikiki, and he chose Kahuku. That decision isn’t a reflection on Vele, he went to Laie and that is it.

  218. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 12:19 pm

    211. Helekoa, what are you grumbling about? Tsai wrote a huge story on Vele a few days ago. ST asked all the fans where should he attend. We all said Kahuku. I don’t get what your complaining about. We all are happy Vele is a Warrior. We all know he is qualified.

Are you Linda Fehoko #2 or something?

  219. al February 2, 2011 12:19 pm

Easy, bro!!!! The post wasn’t intended to place stars next to the name rather to place who the website says to watch for. There’s no reason to be attacking a fellow blogger just because some get more attention in the media than others. That’s life and deal with it.

  222. al February 2, 2011 12:23 pm

i remember two years ago, i had to find out for myself about the fehoko legend. at the end of the game i came away with two words, “justin vele”.

  223. A-House February 2, 2011 12:23 pm

    al:

#208 – yep, must agree as I previously posted that year #4 will be Mack’s year to show for all his efforts to build the team and make it successful – same thought progression that those who sign in 2011 will make the maximum contribution 2 years or more down the road.

some will be like Hardy-Tuilau and contribute from year 1 – this means that recruiting has taken many large steps forward in getting great athletes who can contribute immediately.

others may redshirt or greyshirt to adjust to colllege, hit the weight room, learn the playbook, etc. that’s why Hawaii players going away and returning are behind the 8-ball compared to those who stay. not saying that those who stayed will be better, but they certainly will have a head start!

btw, did jeezy post that Alo “signed”? I thought he would grey-shirt and sign in January 2012? Did I read wrong? ST did post that Alo would not sign a NLOI now.

  224. sonic producer February 2, 2011 12:23 pm

Thanks so much for giving everyone an extraordinarily breathtaking possiblity to read from this web site. It’s usually so terrific and as well , jam-packed with a great time for me and my office co-workers to visit the blog nearly three times a week to find out the newest tips you have got. And of course, we’re always satisfied with the surprising points served by you. Certain 1 areas on this page are really the simplest I have had.

  225. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 12:23 pm

So Tyler Gray is going to commit to Hawaii. I wonder if this is a surprise considering ST didn’t really mention him today. Unless he was the DE not Bryant that Hawaii was expecting.

  226. Ralph February 2, 2011 12:24 pm

BleedGreen join us at the wahine basketball game tonight. Starts at 6 p.m. Sit anyway for $7 but come and join us back of the players bench.

  227. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 12:25 pm

New credit card rules: how to get the best rates..New credit rules mean that fewer people may benefit from advertised rates on credit cards and personal loans. Here’s what’s changing and how you can get the best rates. From today, new rules have come into force that will change the ways in which credit card firms operate. While many lenders have already begun complying with the new rules, all will now be required by law to do so under the European Consumer Credit Directive.

  232. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 12:29 pm

    229. That kind of info you will probably have to ask ST. I have no idea if it’s a grades issue or what. I doubt it though. If Hawaii wanted a guy soon enough, they would make it happen.
If Juda Parker somehow changed his mind this morning, Mack most likely would find a way to get Juda in this class.

  233. LizKauai m/ February 2, 2011 12:32 pm

808Fringe, when DPK (longtime blogger Da Punchbowl Kid) went under the knife for a sudden discovery of a medical condition, a bunch of us felt motivated to add action to our prayers for his recovery.
Tsai-ko-sized portions at tailgates and cattle calls where we physically get together for food, fun, friend, family, football, etc. were usually considered extra-extra large.
A bunch of us are changing habits to include more veggies, less cholesterol and fat in our diets and more exercise.
Hopefully by next tailgate season, we will have a healthier selection to choose from and Tsai-ko-sized will mean a moderate amount of whole, tasty foods.
Just make a realistic estimate of the number of pounds you want to shed by next FB season (not sure if that is the actual goal date…someone can elaborate on that) and it will be added to the total.

    HiHo!

  234. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 12:32 pm

That would make 23. Do we have that many scholies to offer?

  235. BG February 2, 2011 12:37 pm

    Howzit folks!

IMO, the coaches produced a stellar recruiting class. As people have already pointed out, now it’s time to wait and see. Wait and see who are qualifiers and who are not. Then we wait and see how these student-athletes grow and develop. Kinda like growing a garden…yeah Slugger?!!

Not worried about the ones going away, I wish them well. I am over-joyed with the ones who want to be here.

  236. A-House February 2, 2011 12:37 pm

it always amazes me that you come up with names that maybe none of us heard of, but I’m sure are players of note.

can you provide us more info on Nukeese Richardson? and who is Taylor Gray? i am just an ingnorant fan who is too lazy to find all these players who could help UH in the future.

did UH use up all of its scholarships for 2011? this begs the question, again, if a school is allowed a maximum of 85 scholarships in any given year/season and a limit of 25 for each year and UH graduates 21 scholarship players in December does this mean that UH actually has extra scholarships beyond the 25/year or is it included in the 25/year?

  237. Bryson February 2, 2011 12:37 pm

Now the coaches need to be all over the compliance office so that we don’t hit a snag with any of these new Warriors entrance in Manoa….

LOI day is a great circus day for the media; there is a lot of road to cover between Feb 2nd and Sept 1st. Our Kahuku signees need to meet academic requirements as do all the other signees and transfers.

The recruiting has not stopped, just toned down, because you always need contingency plans from A to Z.

    GO WARRIORS

  247. Stephen Tsai February 2, 2011 12:54 pm

That’s a good move on UH’s part. Both are expected to grayshirt, but by signing them to letters 1) they’re locked up to UH. 2) they can count either against this year’s total or next year’s.

  248. Graham February 2, 2011 12:55 pm

We dont need Nukeese Richardson. I am not questioning Juda PArker talents at all. I think he is a special player who I would have love to sign with hawaii but I heard in the Army All Star game he was a little over matched. Is this true or do you think he will kill it at Colorado?

Super Bowl Recipes: Food And Snack Ideas For Sunday’s Big Game..The New England Patriots will not win Super Bowl XLV. They won’t even be playing in it. Hopefully you’ve fully accepted that at this point. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the 2011 Super Bowl. There’s still plenty to keep any Patriots fan entertained, from the commercials, to rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose, to cheering for the Green Bay Packers to beat the Steelers to rooting for audio issues during Black Eyed Peas’ halftime show, to the food. Ah, yes, the food. Perhaps the most important part of the Super Bowl (OK, we suppose it’s a close second to the football stuff).

Is Cal Lee losing his touch? No recruits out of St. Louis. By the way, is Marcus Umu in school now. He supposedly grayshirted last year along w/ Anguay, etc. Some guys make it and some don’t. One guy who signed w/ Hawaii but is not with the team now is David Katina from Samoa. What happened to him and is he still in the picture or is he out of sightk, out of mind? Three other guys who never showed up to UH for some reason were Gabe Tuata from the Big Island, George Kauwalu, All-State LB from Waianae, and Christian Vasconcellos, DB from Damian who is a classmate of Haku Correr. Never heard from them since. June Jones said Tuata was the second coming of Barry Sanders! Come On, Man! Are you kidding me. Sometimes, it’s pretty funny. We just have to see them in action under the bright lights. YouTube highlights can give you some clue, but it depends on the caliber of the competition. You have to see your own eyes.

Justin Vele will be the next Falaniko Noga. Noga was a 1st team Freshman All-American. Better than Fehoko. That’s just my opinion.

Kawika UH made all CC courses and AA degree transferrable to UH Manoa. The bottom line is the grade isn’t transferred only the course for credit purpose, but, the grade had to be a C or better and the course must be one that fulfill a track requirement- e.g. math, social science, core, A & S. etc.

I heard one of the reason why grades aren’t transferrable is because UH Manoa thinks the CC system gives too many A’s or the grading system is too easy. Besides, if your GPA isn’t up to where you want it to be, it’s good to start fresh. One of the advantage of the transfer system.

A CC AA will get you somewhere in life lessons but for those who want to continue their education at UH, the people at UH finally made it easier for the CC students to transfer over to UH and their earned credits with them. Prior students weren’t as fortunate, UH is not a friendly institution when it comes to accepting transferring credits from another institution.

what is the use of transferring “credit” for a class, but not the grade especially if it is a “C” or higher? for example, Masaboy at KCC, took all 100 or higher core subject classes, English, Math, Sciences, History, and his lowest grade was a C for College algebra – all others were A or B. His English 100 class was taught by a prof who students say was the most feared at UH-Manoa. this would not count even if he decides to get a BA degree?

What I meant to say, is that there are only three boys from here that signed on with the home team. Why don’t we recognize all three of them for there official signing? Is that not what this Topic is about, “SIGNING DAY”??? OK sure Vele had the attention early on, what was it? one day? but that’s because he committed early. Its good news that we have Tigi an Ben because I know that they will definitely make an impact for the home team an do well. A House UH doesn’t want to carry CC gpa, not a true reflection of grades earned at UH Manoa. Besides, CC usually a two year curriculum, the basics, which you need to fulfill graduation requirements- freshmen & sophomore level courses. The student’s major usually begins his or her junior year, when his or her core courses and department major courses are taken.

Another 4-star player that never made it to UH was Kenny Graham, CB. He was highly touted, but I don’t think he ever signed with UH. This was during June Jones era.

According to ST, we got 24 signees today. Is that it? We have to wait on the holy grail. If the player works on his game and gets, taller, bigger, faster, and smarter, then this guy get chance. In UH’s system, the obvious holy grail is our Quarterback. That is the one position that can take us to the promised land. We had Colt Brennan. To me, Colt was more like a Pied Piper. Everybody followed him and he led us to a BCS bid. I would settle for our QB being the Robin Hood assisted by all his merry men.

The sports car lovers in India are in enthralling mood that so many brands have been invading the Indian market. Already the segment is filled with Maserati, Ferrari, Koenigsegg and now General Motors has pleased the lovers with its Chevrolet Camaro slated for launch soon. This iconic new sports car is intended to vibrate the sports car lovers as the General Motors’s president said the initial launch will be the right hand drive with two door design. Incidentally General Motors displayed this car in the Auto Expo 2010 but was not assured of such an early launch in the world second largest growing market. However, he could not commit on the price nor the approximate period of the launch of Chevrolet Camaro.

  306. SUPPORT RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL February 2, 2011 2:26 pm

How luck are Hawaii softball fans???

    Let’s take a look.

Rainbow Wahine softball offers the best value in the collegiate game, while a seat directly behind home plate at Fresno State is the highest single-game softball ticket price we could find in the nation.

Hawai’i, Florida and Georgia all reached the Women’s College World Series last year, and none charge admission to their softball games.

Fresno State is one of the rare schools whose highest individual game softball ticket price ($15) is the same as its baseball team ($15). A premium ticket behind home plate at Bulldog Diamond will run you $15 per date. Sitting on the grass berm beyond the outfield fence costs an adult $6.

Season tickets at Fresno State this year range from $78 to $130 for those who want to sit in the stadium itself. Aluminum bleacher seating adjacent to the stadium down the right and left field lines, along with outfield berm grass seating, ranges from $39 for youth/seniors to $65 for adults for season tickets.

To put things in perspective, the most expensive single-game ticket price to attend a softball game at defending NCAA champion UCLA is $7. Of the eight teams who reached Oklahoma City last season, Arizona’s single-game ticket price of $10 is the highest. In fact, a search of more than 50 high-profile schools reveals Fresno State’s $15 single-game ticket for softball box seats to be the highest in the nation.

Aside from Hawai’i, other WAC schools that do not charge admission for softball include Louisiana Tech and Utah State.

New Mexico State on its athletic department web site currently offers only its non-updated 2010 pricing information. Last season, the Aggies charged $39 for a season ticket good for 30 home games (a great value at just over $1 per game). Individual tickets for New Mexico State softball last season were $5 for adults, with children 12 and under free.

San Jose State charges $5 per home date for adults, while youth 12 and under are admitted for $3. Boise State has a similar ticketing policy: $5 for adults, and $3 for youth/seniors.

  309. Michigan Warrior February 2, 2011 2:29 pm

Heading back out to pick up my wife.. not enough time to read through everything. Will do that when we get back.

    Interesting to note…

    – Lots of high schoolers, and not as many JC guys. Very good to build da program.

    – Most that signed are from da mainland or overseas, with only a handful of locals.

I know our needs will dictate our recruiting priorities. Still happy with our new Warriors.

JMxxxx… I tried to stay out of the recruiting arguments and just trusted that our coaches would fill our pukas. I am happy.

Scout.com is reporting that we got a commitment from Junior Alexis, DefensiveTackle out of Crenshaw HS in LA. They say he’s 6’3″ and 255 lbs. If so, he’s the first defensive tackle we signed this year. Saw one site that said he had a core GPA of 3.4. Alexis would be the 25th signee this year, two of which are listed to grayshirt, Alo and Gray.

  315. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 2:40 pm

I heard ST pronounce it TI GI yesterday on radio though.
But I could have broken down that class a million times better. I know the ins and outs of all those guys without reading a piece of paper and throwing out random ratings.
Last year Mack claimed he didn’t look at rankings.
The people who don’t follow the UH recruiting as well as a lot of us do are gonna have unrealistic expectations after hearing how we beat out all these big schools for guys.

  316. Souljah February 2, 2011 2:41 pm

    “Press Conference Completed”

I didn’t get to see a second of it…hopefully they post it on the website.

  321. al February 2, 2011 2:51 pm

oops…oh no that was the post hawaii bowl presser.

  322. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 2:53 pm

Eh… Coach Mack will have 5 years to get it right… but if you’ve ever taught or coached.. you know getting the names right the first time out each and every season isn’t all that easy. It’s the least of your concerns at this stage of the game. Main thing is that the recruiter who brought him in, gets it right.

  323. madeinhawaii February 2, 2011 2:54 pm

Maybe some would be happier if Coach Mack and Co only recruited players whose names Coach Mack could pronounce properly?

  324. Black is back February 2, 2011 2:56 pm

Ole Coach Glanville a few years back couldn’t pronounce or remember player names. Needed to go by #’s. It sure worked for him. Guy won quite a few games over the years.

  325. jr February 2, 2011 2:57 pm

Mac should borrow coach gib to speak for him lol. Coach Gib is a great speaker..

  326. Derek February 2, 2011 2:59 pm

Saw highlight film of Alexis. Very stout. Sheds off blocks real good. Penetrates. A lot of his tackles are around the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. Of course, this is only a highlight reel, but he looks good. Moves well. At 6’3″ and 255 has good quickness. Potential is there to be a real good one.

  327. Old Diver February 2, 2011 2:59 pm

I saw someone on the other blog who is from Kahuku mention it was pronounced Tin-gi.

  328. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 3:00 pm

That being said, congrats to Mack on a very nice recruiting class..

  329. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 3:01 pm

    329. I was probably wrong about Hills name. But after hearing Chris Grant and Ijumaa’s name get all messed up, I kinda just started to laugh and thought he was rolling with it.

  330. RedZone February 2, 2011 3:02 pm

I heard it pronounced the way Mack did it by one of the newscasters when he committed.

  331. Souljah February 2, 2011 3:03 pm

Congrats and thank you to the entire coaching staff for a terrific recruiting class.

A special thanks to Coach Tormey for not pulling recruits with him to pullman and getting his recruits to sign.

  332. RedZone February 2, 2011 3:04 pm

I like Alexis. He has long arms. Hard to get around.

  333. Black is back February 2, 2011 3:10 pm

Solid recruiting class. Alexis has a motor for his size. Looks quick and nasty for a big guy.

  334. whitey February 2, 2011 3:17 pm

Congratulations to da warriors coaching staff and welcome to all of our new recruits. Also congrats to all our hawaii hs players who signed and may your dreams come true.

  335. Derek February 2, 2011 3:17 pm

Al, maybe Mack should call the players name by their nicknames! Right! “Mountain”, “Island”, “Da Thrill”, “Crockadile”, etc. We got em all down already.

  336. Derek February 2, 2011 3:28 pm

Walk-On players in college is just like Undrafted players in the NFL. But that doesn’t mean anything. You still have to work hard and prove yourself to make it either in college or in the pros. Some successes.

UH – Rich Miano, Bryant Moniz, Richard Torres.
NFLs – Davone Bess, Marques Colston, Steve Tasker, James Fenderson, Marc Mariani

There are many terrific examples of which I cannot remember all of their names.

  337. Black is back February 2, 2011 3:30 pm

Seems like UH was able to keep the poachers away this year. No late de-commits to OSU, UW, etc. Other then Robbins out St. Louis, OSU was shut out this year in Hawaii! Riley and Cav have a sour taste in the local palate. UH needs to take care of business in 2011 against the Buffs and Huskies!

  338. Michigan Warrior February 2, 2011 3:31 pm

If you guys knew my last name, you’d know… correct pronunciation isn’t such a big deal, as long as the effort’s there.
I’d rather be confident in the fact that we got some disciplined, trainable student athletes who want to be Warriors and will take care of business in the classroom and on the field.
For those with easier names, you may not understand the struggle others have with “different” names. We learn to live with it… they’ll come around to learning it, eventually. And, hopefully, it will be for good reasons!

  339. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 3:33 pm

Dear Mack, lets run some end arounds with Amadi next year. Guys is explosive. Thanks

  340. Souljah February 2, 2011 3:37 pm

  341. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 3:38 pm

  343. Derek February 2, 2011 3:42 pm

Besides an occasional reverse or flea flicker, we should run some QB read option sometimes, maybe with Graves running the ball. I got the feeling that there will be a fierce competition for playing time this spring and especially in the fall when the new recruits show up.

  344. hgfhjadagdfa February 2, 2011 3:42 pm

Nice job Warrior coaching staff. Special kudo’s to the folks and UH who arranged the invitation to the Mountain West conference. I suspect we would have had a hard time recruiting some of these student athletes if we had to offer them a future of playing the likes of Texas State.

  346. Turfwar February 2, 2011 3:56 pm

Jeezy, I worked on the Dick Tomey Show for almost 10 years and it was then that I first started on the road to being a recruitaholic. I even did a show that featured the whole recruiting process from start to signing in one recruiting year. Mac is not the best speaker and he will never be but I understand a lot of what he was trying to say. He should have given the mic to the guys who scouted and recruited the signed players. They not only know the players but they know who they are recruiting against. Many times the other schools are waiting just outside the players’ home waiting for their turn to get in the same living room. When Mac says they were being recruited by bigger schools than what is listed on internet sites I absolutely believe him. No way Scout or Rivals can keep up with the changing landscape of who’s recruiting who leading up to signing day. Look at Cal who has a dynamite DL class and yet they came after Woodard in the final hours. As soon as a prospect is lost by a big school they move down their list until eventually they are coming after the same targets. I must say though that your skills in finding these guys are pretty amazing to those who have followed college recruiting. Now you can start working on the hoop guys. Also Coach Wade was on the radio last night and he mentioned he is expecting to sign a stud from Germany during the spring signing period. Thanks for all the research you put in. Your are better than many of the sports guys who do this for a living. Josh Pacheco was a joke this morning.

Good evening Tsaiko Nation ! SUPERBOWL shirts all came through as PC Warrior, Papajoe2, Waikiki Warrior and Mark your shirts, color and sizes I will have tomorrow afternoon. RainbowCliff thank you again

  349. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 4:16 pm

I understand it is tough. But I also understand the difference between battling heads up with a school for a player versus trying to hold on to a player because a Pac 10 school lost a guy and they need to jump in late to fill a recruiting class out.
Ex. Kendrick Van Ackeren. We been recruiting him from the beginning. Udub jumped in on friday. offers him really late. He honored his commitment to Hawaii. I don’t feel like we battled with them for a player. We kind of held on. Mack also failed to mention he was the 3A. Sometimes you do lose guys to bigger schools poaching though.
Now in Mike Edwards case, I 100% believe we battled with Cincinnati to the end to get him.
Im just trying to be unbiased so people reading articles and stuff dont raise their expectations too high.

  350. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 4:17 pm

But I am very excited about the recruits.

  351. RainbowCliff February 2, 2011 4:24 pm

#350 pcwarrior: My COMPLETE honor as I will pick up your superbowl shirt tomorrow !

PLEASE e-mail me that I have listed on my post #349 as I want to mail it off asap !

You are going to LOVE bruddah Cedric design as he is such a GREAT guy that remember his time in Hawaii as he was suppose to be there a week and stayed a whole MONTH !

Just goes to show if I REPRESENT good enough then there is a RAINBOW at the end of KAPAHULU as that was the first place that I lived in Hawaii wayyyyyy back in 1976 !

    ALWAYS for the OHANA !

  352. whitey February 2, 2011 4:28 pm

someone mentioned about nevada’s recruit. looked for the story and it is a worse case scenerio. player gets early offer and commits to Nevada early. player has other offers, but sticks with his commit. goes to Nevada on visit weekend before LOID and comes home excited about where he is going. 2-3 days prior to LOID, Nevada’s asst coach calls to cancel his scholie with no explanation except we don’t need you. player and his hs coach is p—–ed!! now player is in limbo.

  353. RainbowCliff February 2, 2011 4:28 pm

Well good folks I am leaving work and getting home for the evening. Will check with you

Thank you for a great year and now a great recruiting class. The bar has been raised with the type of recruits we got this year! We can hope that this continues and the bar gets raised even higher next year as we enter the MWC. CONGRATULATIONS WARRIOR NATION AND MOST OF ALL CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME NEW WARRIORS!!

great recruiting class!! where did u guys get the feed from coach mack?? i wish we could have landed walter santiago too! his summer camp highlight video was amazing! i dont know how no D1 school offered him!

  361. jonj February 2, 2011 5:06 pm

also wat happened to jamal napeahi?? grades?? i kno theres a summer school program called COP, not sure wat stands for. but i do know its for kids who dont qualify for kids to show they can make grades for college. they should enroll him in that an ask him to walk on for fall.

  362. Increase Vertical Jump February 2, 2011 5:07 pm

    This is Great. Cheers.

  363. d1島 February 2, 2011 5:10 pm

Congratulations to all the athletes in every sport who were able to secure a scholarship to college today via signing a NLI. It’s the first step, and only a first step.

Now comes the rest of the story….

  364. d1島 February 2, 2011 5:13 pm

…for those who weren’t included in that group “Fear Not” there’s a place out there for you.

  365. Garret February 2, 2011 5:31 pm

Very nice recruiting class and I am very happy that there was no last-minute poaching of commits!

  366. Stacy Kaneshiro February 2, 2011 5:34 pm

    Tsai,

UH didn’t get a lot of local kids, but the ones they did get are quality guys. Fans will enjoy Vele, Mamea and Hill. UH has lot of options with Hill, who is very versatile.

  367. Garret February 2, 2011 5:35 pm

I didn’t want to post about this yesterday and figured I should wait until after NLI day, but there may be a good reason why UH has scholarships available to get last-minute recruits like Junior Alexis…here is the latest information from Tanks Ah! but the concerns about Mamea and Hill were known well before their commits were written up by ST.

Ben must retake the SAT and gain a qualifying score.

Tigi on the other hand looks to be struggling academically even more. From what I heard UH wants him to go to a sister school (ala Blaze Soares), bring up the grades, and then enroll. They told him that if he does that then they will honor his 4 yr scholarship offer.

This tells me that he more than likely will be a non-qualifier and that UH is giving him this option up front knowing his situation.

  368. Derek February 2, 2011 5:35 pm

Al, Jeezy33, in your humble opinion what recruits are the top 5 to 7 players that we got have a great chance of getting on the field this coming season?

  369. d1島 February 2, 2011 5:37 pm

    Whoah!

Gotta get outta the way of the fan!

  370. Michigan Warrior February 2, 2011 5:44 pm

    #360… 808ike… Hahaha!

Our first year here, our oldest daughter had to fill out Christmas cards for classmates. We had to learn how to read and pronounce Polish, Russian, Danish, and other Eastern European surnames. And, for some weird reason, our kids’ teachers have the hardest time with names like “Kanani”, “Kealii”, and “Maile”… names that we think are absolutely easy.

  371. Garret February 2, 2011 5:46 pm

Adrian Klemm proved today what an elite-level recruiter he is and I love seeing former UH players excel in coaching…and hopefully coming to coach at UH someday. I credit Klemm (and Reinebold also, but Klemm got their highest rated players and all the players from California) for SMU having the #1 rated non-AQ recruiting class by Scout (#48) and Rivals (#50, with 1 4-star and 20 3-star). If Klemm can outrecruit Pac-10 schools for California recruits to go to Dallas, he can/will get recruits to Manoa someday.

Klemm got an OL out of California who had offers from Florida, Oregon, U-Dub, Arizona, etc., and that recruit would have been SMU’s highest-ever recruit in Rivals’ 10+ year database, but Klemm got a LB out of Los Angeles who turned down the entire Pac-10 (USC, Oregon, and so on offered him early). One reason why Oregon State wasn’t trying to poach UH recruits is because they were going after SMU recruits like Moreland…some Oregon State sites wrote as recently as today that they thought Oregon State would get him to switch his commit.

It should be noted that Klemm isn’t getting recruiting ties to Texas or Louisiana high schools, he is assigned to recruit California and he’s established himself with a lot of schools in California by getting to know their coaches and players. Klemm’s expertise in recruiting California and his recruiting contacts there would really benefit UH someday if UH could ever get him.

  372. Shoko February 2, 2011 5:50 pm

    Howzit folks!

Nice recruiting class. Welcome to Warrior football! Good to hear of some local boys deciding to stay home. To those that chose different schools, I wish them the best of luck as they still represent the 808.

On another note, sort of curious why Edwards didn’t play for Coffeyville CC. Concentrate on academics? Anyway, I think Edwards would be better suited as a wide receiver and special teams. The guy is pretty quick.

  373. Garret February 2, 2011 5:51 pm

I hope that Mamea gets the SAT score he needs and that Hill takes the route that Blaze took. It would be great to see both play for UH someday soon.

  374. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 5:52 pm

    370. Haha i love these questions. Just opinion based on video, scouting reports, statistics. Im gonna have to go with:
    1. Mike Edwards
    2. Promise Amadi
    3. Tigi Hill
    4. Justin Vele
    5. Trevor Davis
    6. Ellis Henderson
    7. Will Gregory
Real tough though because it’s very hard to scout O linemen based on competition. I really really like Olds but havent seen him pass block. Havent seen Dew play.
I left JC transfers out because they really do have 2 years to perform and I have no idea how quickly they can pick up system. My guess is Gant is the best JC transfer but he has a very short time to learn coming in summer time.

I can honestly say this is the best class I’ve seen in Mack Era.

  375. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 6:00 pm

One thing to remember with JC transfers is even studs like Ryan Mouton and Josh Leonard didn’t even start right away. Even with 4 star hype coming in.

  376. Linnie Conde February 2, 2011 6:06 pm

Nice blog here! Also your website loads up fast! What host are you using? I wish my website loaded up as fast as yours lol

Mack said Edwards is a good cover corner. Those are the holy grail.

  378. Derek February 2, 2011 6:08 pm

Good luck to Hill and Mamea. Not a bad route to go the way of Soares. I we all know that Soares got his degree and he was very proud of it. Viliami Nauahi also enrolled in school late also. Not sure if he got he degree too. Hill’s ability remind me of Aaron Francisco and Al Afalava.

C.O.P, stands for College Opportunities Program, and it gives those students that are ‘marginal’ a chance to get into the main stream if they survive the program. it is during the summer, they live on campus, back then it was Johnson Hall, attend classes and pass. also, it’s a group living environment in the dormitory so they need to develop social interaction skills in a group setting. they also are given advice on time management, healthy living choices, and a few other programs. i was blessed to be involved with the program as a director/instructor in the early 1980’s.

  381. Bulla February 2, 2011 6:15 pm

    #357 pcwarrior,

even today, as one of the mainland recruits was ready to sign, he was getting calls from another school because their original choices were not panning out.

it’s a meat market, the best meat market in town, and it comes down to business….colleges gotta win games, and your children have to leverage everything they have to getting a college degree at the expense of the someone else……the college. it is not about relationships, it is not about personal interest, it is not about honoring family ties…it is about getting what is best for your kid. THAT is the bottom line……. let your kids live their dreams, not yours. Let them go where THEY WANT, and not where you want just so you can puff out your chest for bragging rights…..IT’S THEIR LIFE, LET THEM LIVE IT!!!

  383. A-House February 2, 2011 6:46 pm

If a player signs a LOI, but does not qualify, can the school use that scholarship to sign another player? Late signee?

Would UH offer a grey-shirt to the Oline guy that was burnt by Reno? Lots of reason to make them pay later!

  384. Hank February 2, 2011 6:51 pm

#376 Cecil Doe turned down Michigan State (among others)…and with his size, speed and Coach Shaw’s positive impression of him – I’m looking for him to give Stutz and Pollard some competition at wide out.

    Love this Class.

  385. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 6:53 pm

Mike Edwards teammate Nukeese Richardson still unsigned. Mack willing to give him 2nd chance too? That would be sweet.
    I am just wishing.

Jeezy- Mac was on the Animals show this afternoon and said they were saving one more scholie just in case a great one falls thru the cracks. Mentioned Ray Lewis, Wes Welker and Kaniela Tuipolutu were benefits of Macs’ teams at Miami, Tex Tech, and Hawaii who had a ride available because of this practice.

  395. Hawaiianbod February 2, 2011 7:39 pm

No Kuehu VS Kuehu match up this year again.

Brian McInnis wrote on his blog a while ago that Shaena-Lyn Kuehu is done playing ball for the year. She is off the Idaho roster and supposedly back in Honolulu.

McInnis cites some “medical issue” as a reason for her departure.

  402. Kazz February 2, 2011 7:59 pm

Artie Wilson doesnt usually work the Wahine games. Usually it’s Lori Santi.

Sounded like Artie was dumbfounded at some of the BONEHEAD officiating that is usually the norm for the Wahine games.

I swear… if people thought the officiating in the men’s games were bad….

Tonight not so bad, but some calls had Artie sounding lost in finding out why the blown calls…. 😆

Gotta say our former Warriors are building great reps here and on the mainland. Once again congrats to Stutz and also Klemm.

  419. kama krab February 2, 2011 8:29 pm

    Oh yah,

Pretty good class. Would have like to see a couple of more local boys but thats what happens when you fall asleep at the wheel. Anyways for the local boys that we did get, hopefully they take care of the school cause if they do then this will be a solid local core.

Oh and hopefully the coaches have already gotten in touch with the local boys for 2012 cause I can tell you that there are going to be some solid boys next year. Oh and please stop by Punahou and St. Louis cause going get some big boys looking for someone to give them a chance.

  420. Bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 8:32 pm

    kama krab

howzit. looked on idaho state recuit site, no posting yet. congrats to Coach Stutz.

my grand daughter got a schollie to CW Post. She is happy. we’re happy. good for all Hawaii kids to get a education, especially paid, and grow.

for me, for Warrior Nation, for Hawaii football, my focus is Warriors. afta Christmas eve last, i wuz depressed, concussed, flabbagassed.

now, afta today, i get hope dat our coaches take their jobs seriously, know that all Hawaii is counting on them, that i’m counting on dem.

yup, my world is looking sunny and bright. 😀

  421. A-House February 2, 2011 8:33 pm

Talk about a good start for 2/2/2011 – great Warrior recruiting class! – Na Wahine won for the first time in 2011! – great accolodes for Na Wahine SB players!

and, for al, maybe the last scholarship Coach is holding will be your “holy grail” – that would make the start of 2011 out-a-site and “riches to behold” by 12/31/2011.

cannot forget the Na Wahine soccer team for their 4 outstanding local recruits – way to go Coach Nagamine!!!!!!!!

  422. Bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 8:39 pm

    so….

    gotta tell you honestly…..

    coaches get a AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Possible guy UH should take a look at.
OT Maataua Brown – 6-4 280 48th rated OT. Polynesian background. Supposed to sign with Udub but didn’t because grades. If somehow he gets eligible, maybe we should open up communication to swoop in. Just a thought to have possible stud targets ready in case guys become eligible.

  425. papajoe2 February 2, 2011 9:10 pm

After the Bowl game, because of lack of live Warrior football, this blog mostly focused on recruiting. In the beginning and leading up to today, until about a week ago, it was mostly negative. Today, it seems like a whole lot of Tsakos are very happy, but just a little disappointed that we didn’t get more local boys. I think we have to give credit where credit is due. Mahalo to recruiting coordinator George Lumpkin. Seems he topped last years incoming class, but only time will tell. I don’t know the inside of the Warriors recruiting strategies, but by setting the stage so all of the coaches could recruit certain players, I think coach Lumpkin and coach Mack did a good job. Today starts, if not continues, next years recruiting and the year after that.

  426. Bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 9:20 pm

    papajoe2

yup, i’m very happy. cuz da coaches neva let us down. da tellin is lookin real good. got speed. coach mack reminds me ah me. not so good at da public speak, but da bugga neva quit. no sir, he neva quit. and yup, we neva get all da top local guys. but, so wat? ova time, da local guys gonna KNOW day wisht day stayed home.

so if day listen to da advice given in da above, no burn bridges, Warrior Nation get chance fo swell good.

and den I’ll porget doze 3 buggaz on da concourse in da 3rd qtr Tulsa, tellin “look look, day [Tulsa] going score again,” while laffin at us.

nobody laffin today. yup, Coach did good. and yup, i’m a happy membah ah Warrior Nation!

  427. OldDiver February 2, 2011 9:20 pm

I’m still reading comments that Mack and his coaches made a less than stellar effort to recruit local athletes. I want to know how many of those people who are saying this were at the coaches recruiting meetings. Are they getting this information from Mack himself? The coaches are defenseless against these types of accusations. They are unable to respond which gives these types of comments some credibility even though there is none. I just can’t believe there are working stiffs around who know more about local recruiting than the UH coaches. Okay, got that off my chest……feeling better now.

  428. jeezy33 February 2, 2011 9:28 pm

    429. I think they missed out on one guy. Peni Vea. Other than that, I think we did our best to get the best local athletes here.

  429. Bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 9:39 pm

i dunno who thinks Mack and coaches made less than stellar effort to recruit local athletes.

too bad for the local athletes. too bad for the east side coaches. too bad that their mindset is to go away, day gonna get betta recognized, dat we not good enough.

dats da reality. dats what doze 3 baboozes wen tell me by dare actions on da concourse, laffin at us.

sometimes you just gotta lick sumbuddy, kick sum okole, get da recognition. da brudaz wanna play fo winnaz. dats comin. first, gotta get rid of da concussion. dat happened today, for me.

    good job coaches! fo real.

now, go get ready for Colorado and Washington. and while you at it, get ready for UNLV, cuz I’m making plans!

  430. Kazz February 2, 2011 9:42 pm

    February 2nd, 2011 at 8:04 pm

Kazz – I saw Keilani Rickett’s name on the ASA Watch List. Time for big sis to show up little sis!

    JM,

I saw Keilani in a few games in the WCWS last season and when I say this I don’t mean any disrespect to Keilani, but there is NO reason that Stephanie should be off that Top 50 list other than pure stats and S. Ricketts had a bit of a slow start last season that hurt her overall ERA… BUT then again current Indiana and former Fresno State pitcher Morgan Melloh is on that list with an ERA of 3.08, which is way behind Steph’s #s (2.59 ERA) last season and rated near the bottom of the WAC last season…… hmmmm.. sounds like her transfer to a Big Ten school helped getting her name on this list right???!!!!!!!!!!! 🙄

We all know what our Rainbow Wahine pitchers are capable of and that’s all that matters.

Besides, that Top 50 list is quite questionable. I mean, how do you also leave Jessica Iwata off that Top 50 list????? I mean all Iwata did was finish her true freshman season hitting .367%, 18 homers, and slugged .729%. Oh and she was also the FIRST Rainbow Wahine to score the NFCA NATIONAL Player of the Week honor… but that’s all… 😯

Eh whatever… the list is what it is.

    ez tyga. choke pidgin ah?

they wanna play for colorado (unranked), and uw (unranked w/ jake locker)?

  432. ikaika February 2, 2011 9:49 pm

you folks got it so wrong….we got 3( THREE ) hawaii recruits. that is despicable!!!!!!! we dont need to worry bout UW, OSU, Wassu, colorado!!!! our coaches got only 3!

  433. bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 9:56 pm

    gambit_808

i don’t care if da playah who wanna go away wanna play for whoeva. east Billings CC, wateva, da point is day neva like play fo us, Warrior Nation. da ones dat upset me is da ones who tink day too good fo us, an we boat no get summa dat kine.

to create da mindset for next year, da upcoming class gotta hear from peeps like me, know from right now dat da buck stops here. get dem to realize dat get summa us, who no play da sport, know dat we really appreciate da brudda who wants to be a Warrior. play for us.
be our hero. be my hero. know that, straight up, Warriors are appreciated by Hawaii, by me. and i dn’t take laffin at Hawaii football lightly. no sir.

i expect our million dollar coach to coach like a million dollar coach. yes, Coach Mack showed up in our darkest hour. that counts for sumtin. what counts more is that he is producing a great recruit class. and his coaches are working hard at backin him up.

yup, i’m a Happy Happy Member of Warrior Nation.

  434. HawnBuff February 2, 2011 9:58 pm

Until the two Kahuku guys qualify, you only got one local recruit. Coach Mack does it every year, to make the class look good on paper. In three months when no one is paying attention, four or five players will end up not enrolling in school. Smoke and mirrors. Smoke and mirrors.

  435. Lava February 2, 2011 10:00 pm

I’m not ready to be in awe of our 4 star recruit. His athleticism was excellent in the fall of 2009, but he wasn’t much of a cover guy or a run stopper from the ratings I’ve seen. The time away may have helped him off the field, but it won’t make his skills any sharper. I see this guy as a project.

If I could only have one recruit, I’d much rather have Vele.

    Hopefully both will contribute.

  436. Lava February 2, 2011 10:03 pm

Re local recruits, who were the local boys who wanted to play here and weren’t offered. Ah, the list gets very short.

Re the 2 Kahuku boys, they need to take care of business in the classroom. How can you fault UH for that?

  437. bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 10:09 pm

summa us wuz speakin out about da Tulsa concussion on 12/24. i wuz. and at da end ah da day on 9/3/11, i’d like alla us to feel dat dare wuz a supah change around. a roundabout starts now, smoke an all.

i totally understand what yu stay tellin. da bottom line, wedda its smoke an mirrors o not, we gotta play peeps this coming year, and our Warriors gotta know we backin dem up. our coaches gotta know we backin dem up too, give em hope dat we really backin dem up, not just stickin knives in da back, give da new Warriors da feelin dat day are welcome to Warrior Nation. for me, dat is da bottom line. So to da new recruits, welcome welcome welcome.

face facts. whoever to blame, we got left high and dry 3 years ago. Mack stepped in. sumtimes, wen da results was not to my satisfaction, i’ve been a big big critic. but i got hope. really. looking at our recruit class, i gotta honestly praise him and the coaches for their recruiting results. they done good, and they should be praised for it.

    Good job coaches! Fo Sure!!!!!

just wisht Coach leart to speak like me.

  438. bighilofan2 February 2, 2011 10:15 pm

  482. bighilofan2 February 3, 2011 6:47 am

    bye fo now.

    esme woooshhhhh…..

  483. Buffoman February 3, 2011 7:02 am

I think that after looking at the list, this is a solid group. I have to also believe that we actually scored the two best Hawaii players for the team’s needs now and into the future with Vele and Hill. Take nothing away from the folks who decided to go to the continent as they were probably great fits for the immediate and future needs of the respective institutions.

I believe that Vele has the potential to be as good or better than the UH linebacker currently in the NFL. I don’t know about Hill as his potential could be off the charts as his size and speed could make him down right scary. The key is their ability to keep both eyes on the books (in school), work hard off season, stay healthy and get coaching that would continue to develop the potential.

Done right, in two to three years people will be saying that UH recruited the best players in 2011.

  484. Jack Flash February 3, 2011 7:14 am

    Go Warriors- current and future!

  485. tommui February 3, 2011 7:59 am

My husband and i got very comfortable when Ervin managed to round up his basic research out of the ideas he gained out of your web pages. It’s not at all simplistic just to always be handing out techniques which some people may have been selling. And we also consider we have the website owner to give thanks to because of that. Those illustrations you’ve made, the straightforward web site navigation, the friendships you give support to create – it is many incredible, and it is leading our son and our family consider that this concept is fun, and that is extremely vital. Thank you for all the pieces!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
