Setting the 2012 clock

The early buzz is that defensive tackle Kaniela Tuipulotu is considered to be the Warriors’ top NFL prospect for the 2012 draft. Tuipulotu has drawn praise for his skill, technique, leadership and on-field nastiness.

Before Miah Ostrowski and after Ikaika Alama-Francis, the best basketball-playing football player on the Manoa campus was Davone Bess.

Bess created the Bess All-Stars, which plays in basketball games to raise money for local charities. Bess said he is planning a game against HPD officers in January in Hawaii. He said among the players he will bring are Ronnie Brown, Josh Johnson, Marshawn Lynch and, possibly, Brandon Marshall.

Bess said his activities can be found on his Web site: Davone Bess.

Follow his tweets at http://twitter.com/#!/davonebess.

Imitation isn’t always so flattering, though. Bess said there was a guy going around South Florida pretending to be him. The fake was getting free drinks. Bess said they caught the guy.

Just learned what probably everybody else knew: NFL players have to pay taxes to the state in which road games are played.

Most NFL players get paid once a week, for 17 weeks. (Some teams pay every other week; the Titans stretch the pay period over nine months.) But for those who get paid weekly, the amounts are different based on the game’s location that week. Best places to play? Florida, Texas and Washington state do not impose state taxes.

Wonder how much a player gets squeezed for playing in the Pro Bowl?

Tuipulotu will have good company with Meatoga, Satele, Corey, Brown, Hokins and Torres on Defense.

good monday morning and happy to be in the elite list of tsaikos

  8. Kris May 2, 2011 9:03 am

What does everyone think of Bryant Moniz’s chances of being drafted? We all know their is a bias towards Run n’ Shoot or “System” quarterbacks…unless you are Tim Tebow of course.

  9. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:05 am

Our Defense will be solid. Question is our Offense able to move the ball and score without Salas, Green and Pilares. That’s a lot of Offense to replace.

  10. Graham May 2, 2011 9:12 am

No chance Moniz is drafted. He is under sized, not a strong arm, and plays in a pass happy offense that does not transfer well into the NFL

  11. Kekoa May 2, 2011 9:17 am

Osama Bin Gotten!…Still very glad that our guys have finally rid the world of this vermin.

I didn’t know it was MIH’s birthday. Happy birthday, MIH! Hope you had a great celebration.

  14. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:23 am

And I’m still mad about 49er’s not picking Gabbert in 1st round instread of Kaepernick in 2nd.

  15. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 9:24 am

Had my eyes checked this morning. My left eye is better for distance, while my right eye is better for reading. Guess that’s why I don’t wear glasses very often — usually to read the phone book only.

  16. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 9:25 am

no glaucoma. a little cataracts. and some small floaters in one eye.

    Halleluia! Could be worse, right?

  17. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 9:28 am

My take on the QB draftees is this: Height and weight don’t always make a great quarterback. We should consider the heart and spirit of the man first!!!

  18. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:28 am

When did Fox start spelling his name “Usama”?

  19. Da Punchbowl Kid May 2, 2011 9:30 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂

The defense will be a lot of fun to watch next season, lotsa bulls up front.

Good for Bess, a class act all the way.

  20. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 9:32 am

I don’t know about you guys, but I bet President Obama didn’t even tell his WIFE about the top secret operation.

  21. Da Punchbowl Kid May 2, 2011 9:33 am

Good morning Mr. Tsai. You watch Fox News?

  22. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:37 am

Congratulation gigi for great eye check up. We all need to get our eye exam done.

I had a floaters too and had Laser done at Retina Institute of Hawaii.

I can still read the smart phone fine print without glasses.

  23. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:40 am

    DPK:

I was trying to watch CNN but they had too many commercials, so I started channel surfing. The interesting one was Fox’s interview with Dick Cheney. It was like trying to ask Jim Bolla about this year’s women’s basketball team. He kept telling the interviewer that he’s no longer involved in high-level conversations because, well, he’s not the veep anymore.

  24. rage777 May 2, 2011 9:41 am

I thought Corey Paredes would have been the top prospect. I can imagine he would be on some pre-season watch lists.

  25. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:45 am

#20 Gigi and it’s a good they didn’t let Pakistanese know either.

With their Military Acadamey just 100 yards away something smells fishy.

  26. rage777 May 2, 2011 9:45 am

    Gigi,

Once you get a clearance you can’t tell anybody about your work unless they have clearance and a need to know. Even if Michelle had the clearance, she probably didn’t have the need to know. I know husband and wives that have clearance but work on different projects, so they can’t tell each other about their jobs. My wife has learned to deal with my job and doesn’t ask me what I do anymore. She always hated that she couldn’t see my office or discuss what I work on. I don’t have to kill her if I tell her, but I could be subject to a fine, imprisonment, and definitely loss of clearance. Having taken a polygraph to get one of my clearances, I am not even tempted to go against security.

  27. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:45 am

    Rage 777:

Paredes, Vaughn Meatoga, Royce Pollard, Aaron Brown and Moniz are prospects. It’s just that, at the moment, Tuipulotu is the top prospect.

  28. Kekoa May 2, 2011 9:47 am

Got to B-E-L-I-E-V-E that this edition of the Warrior fb team will prevail.

Try not to dwell on the departure of our former recievers. We have a replacement corps of guys who are working hard to continue the tradition. So much so as to cause competition at those prime positions.

So much of what this team is about can be attributed to the sweat equity they put in almost daily. Preparation in the weight room and on the practice field is evident. Believe!

    GO WARRIORS!

  29. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:49 am

    Gigi:

The key is never to mention you know a secret.

Every time I mention that something might be coming up, I get 10 e-mails from people saying, “You can tell me.”

I usually do tell them. If they ask nicely.

Maybe Mrs. Obama didn’t ask nicely.

  30. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:49 am

I just Google Earth and can see the very large compound where Osama stayed from others in the area.

  31. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:51 am

Question: Why do WAC baseball teams play four-game series but softball teams play three-game series?

  32. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 9:54 am

    Okole:

It’s always greed that gets a person.

If Osama/Usama kept the compound to look like the other houses in the neighborhood, we’d still be playing Where’s Waldo. But, nope, build the building that stands out and that draws attention. Plus, if you’re in a middle-class neighborhood, anywhere in the world, and you don’t have cable or the Internet, that has to raise a red flag.

  33. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 9:59 am

I’m sure the Delta Force had this place under cover for a while and waited just for May 1st.

and How can anyone go with-out Internet these days ST?

  34. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 10:02 am

  36. NCAA May 2, 2011 10:06 am

    Just got and Immediate Release:

anyway, my mom is legally blind in 1 eye and has glaucoma.

doctor told me my last eye exam was in 2004.

he told me to have an exam EVERY YEAR. why? cause I could inherit glaucoma from mom and go blind.

i said, “Yeah, but my dad did not have glaucoma. maybe I inherited his eyes.”

  44. NCAA May 2, 2011 10:27 am

The reason people cannot keep secrets is because they want to be the first to break the news. Sort of like a need to be noticed or be boastful.

Per Rush Limbaugh: “Thank God for President Obama.” Now, I’ve heard everything.

I am not sold on Blaine Gabbert. I don’t think Locker will be great either. So is Christian Ponder. Newton? I like his potential and his athletic ability, but he still has to do it in the NFL. Frankly, I feel higher about Andy Dalton for some reason. Kapernick? Well, for one he’s the only QB in college history who has thrown for more than 10,000 yards and rushed for more than 4,000 yards in a career. Personally, I see him as a sleeper. He has a lot of athletic ability and he’s elusive, deceptively fast. He’s hard to stop once he starts going. Jim Harbaugh has to work with him as a passer. Kaepernick has a very strong arm, but Harbaugh has to work with him on his throwing and his accuracy. I think Kaepernick’s sucess is tied to Harbaugh’s coaching and they are intertwinded with the 49ers success and failure. I have high hopes on Harbaugh’s ability as a coach. As a 49er fan, I am interested

in seeing everything how things fold.

    Kazz,

What about Elvis?? How could you forget the King? I didn’t know Bush was such a rap/hip-hop fan.

  59. Shoko May 2, 2011 11:45 am

Kaepernick’s potential at the next level is promising. He’s pretty smart as he scored above average for that position on the Wonderlic. No character issues and humble as can be for a kid his age.

He has a strong arm (60mph) and pretty fast – not explosive-type speed – but can gain yardage quick due to his long stride if he finds an opening. Only problem I see is his mechanics (long windup, slow release), which has been brought up by various NFL coaches. Then again, which QB entering the Pros doesn’t need some improvement in this area. Not exactly quick dropping back and looks, at times, uncomfortable in the pocket. He can take a hit in college, but the question is whether he can take a hit in the NFL.

QB’s taken in the third round, like Kap, by the Niners? Montana and Carmazzi. Question is where Kap fits between a success and a bust. Niner Insider scored Kap pretty high on the Montana Factor. We shall see…

  60. mctruck May 2, 2011 11:46 am

Ohhh!!, I can see the birthers coming out and questioning if Osama-b is really dead now and want to see his death certificate; 1st up will be the Donald, so he can take credit for questioning it’s authenticity.

I used to play against Bess at Gym 2. The football team would have their five, we would roll with ours and it was go time. I had to guard Bess a couple of times. He was so athletic, very nice guy on the court, but very competitive.

  63. Shoko May 2, 2011 11:49 am

DNA is great, but I think there is a good score of Americans that want to see Osama with that bullet to da head. Sort of like when they posted pictures of Saddam’s hanging and the pictures of his two dead sons.

  64. Kazz May 2, 2011 11:51 am

Hey, leave Trump out of this.

He is a Republican and is worth 8 billion dollars.

  65. tommui May 2, 2011 11:51 am

rage777 #53 – depends on the priorities given and the amount of the samples. In Osama’s case, you had blood, body etc. Lots of samples – jet the stuff to the nearest lab (a jet fighter would do it) and the lab works on it pronto.

  66. Kazz May 2, 2011 11:53 am

Last political RANT of the day.

I find it AMUSING that all these college campuses seem to be leeching off this “event”. The same ones attending peace/beer rallies against the war on terrorism and pleading to approach Bin Laden with a more diplomatic approach and now the ones running from GWU to the White House gates to snag some TV time while cheering…

Hypocrites to the left, hypocrites to the right.

  67. jm2375 May 2, 2011 11:58 am

    Howzit Tsaikos!!

    Happy Monday!

Kaepernick will always be a crybaby in my opinion. Not worthy of a pro career.

Slugger – hubby said it wasn’t too bad getting on base this morning. As long as they don’t elevate it further, it should be ok. Just remember to bring your ID AND your car registration and insurance card (don’t ask, I have no idea why). Hopefully it won’t stay elevated for too long.

  68. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 12:00 pm

bin Laden was shot in the left eye. That’s what killed him, per news sources.

I think it would be in poor taste and inflammatory to release a photo of his deceased body.

  69. 1996warrior May 2, 2011 12:04 pm

There were many great football players that were very good at basketball. Ostrowski (obviously), Alama Frances, Sapoaga (could dunk standing under the rim), Lelie (got dunked on by him a couple of times), the red haired back up quarterback to Brennan was really good.

  70. gigi-hawaii May 2, 2011 12:05 pm

    tyler graunke?

  71. Hilo Moon May 2, 2011 12:11 pm

The “birthers” just won’t go away. They are morphing into the “deathers.” Auwe!

  72. 1996warrior May 2, 2011 12:12 pm

I played against Bess, Lelie in my opinion was way better. He was hard to stop because he could shoot the three, post up, and he could fly. As far as the best football player to play basketball (other than Ostrowski and during my time there) was Lelie and that back up quarterback to Brennan with the red hair.

  73. 1996warrior May 2, 2011 12:12 pm

no, it wasn’t graunke. Was there anyother one? maybe before brennan.

  74. Hilo Moon May 2, 2011 12:15 pm

I wonder if Mr. Trump is going to ask King Neptune for a burial certificate? Maybe Trump will send an investigative team to the bottom of the ocean to look for Osama.

  75. madeinhawaii May 2, 2011 12:17 pm

I wonder how many documents, name lists.. phone numbers, laptops, thumbdrives and cell phones the military got from Bin laden’s hideout… got to have some good leads there.

  76. madeinhawaii May 2, 2011 12:19 pm

While there may be hundreds who would gladly take Bin laden’s place, there are really only a few capable of pulling all the Middle East terror cells together like Bin Laden and al-Zawahri can.

  77. Shoko May 2, 2011 12:21 pm

    MIH,

From what I heard, they found a few computers but they were gutted (hard drives removed). Happy belated birthday too…

I agree Gigi, posting pictures would be in poor taste and might further infuriate terrorist and spurn retaliation against Americans.

  78. Shoko May 2, 2011 12:25 pm

CNN just reported that Osama was short twice. First in the chest then in the head. Double-tap.

  79. Shoko May 2, 2011 12:26 pm

Uh, meant to say shot, not short. He wasn’t exactly a short man.

  80. Hilo Moon May 2, 2011 12:34 pm

I hope the “deathers” realize that by insisting on keeping the issue alive ( pun intended ), terrorist retaliation would be encouraged.

  81. tommui May 2, 2011 12:34 pm

Death pictures of Osama are already on the Net for the past couple of hours.

Probably necessary – “Unless I put my hands into His wounds, I will not believe” was uttered prior to photographs, the Net etc.

  82. warriorsun May 2, 2011 12:34 pm

Keith Price made a statement in the huskies Spring game to become Washington’s QB starter in the fall.

Price led the new-look huskie pro style offense and accounted for 4-TDs: 3 passing and a nifty 29-yard bootleg sprint to cap an outstanding game for the 6-1, 192# soph QB…. Price passed for 212 yards and went 20-28 with no intercepts.

In the meantime, the Dawgs have found an initial offensive identity to build upon in 2011. That bodes well as they enter the newly expanded Pac-12 and try to follow the progression of Sarkisian’s UW career: From 0-12 to 5-6 in his first season of 2009, then to 7-6 last season and a third-place finish in the Pac-10.

The Huskies will use the tight end more, simply because they have a potentially dominant one now. They will use more two-back sets with the quarterback under center, as they continue to emphasize pocket passing behind an offensive line that is searching for starters at right tackle and left guard.

Sarkisian is as close to the USC style of offense, with which he won Rose Bowls as top Trojans assistant, as he’s been since he arrived to lead UW in January 2009.

“I think we’re a physical group. We’re much more pro style than we’ve been in the first couple years here,” Sarkisian said, assessing what he learned over these 15 spring practices. “Obviously, with the usage of the tight ends, with the fullback, getting the ball spread to five receivers and not knowing where the ball could be going on every snap, and the ability to play-action pass even more … (it) makes teams defend the entire field.

“I think this spring has helped us with the style of play that we’d like to become.”

  83. Richard Bellville May 2, 2011 12:41 pm

Say, you got a nice blog post. Thanks Again.

  84. Derek May 2, 2011 12:43 pm

Shoko, Kaepernick was picked in the 2nd round compared to Montana in the 3rd round. It doesn’t matter what round you go in, it’s how they play on the field. Look at all the QB busts in the first round. They couldn’t handle the pressure and the skills and probably some due to poor coaching. One of the best, Mr. Brady, was picked in the 6th round. Romo was a free agent and he ain’t bad. The worst thing is to play a QB when they aren’t ready. Confidence is a very fragile thing and they have to get prepared thru repeated practices. Jim Harbaugh knows if a QB can be good. I trust his judgment solely on the fact that he recruited Andrew Luck and he coached him and he was sure he had the best QB in college and he is right. There is no argument about that from Kiper and McShay.

  85. mctruck May 2, 2011 1:01 pm

  86. Curt May 2, 2011 1:23 pm

    Okole Maluna,

#25 If you think it’s fishy that Osama’s compound was close to a Pakistani military academy, you’re right. But what I believe I heard reported last night is really fishy. I heard the report that the compound was BUILT by the Pakistani military! Is that something or what? Did anyone else hear that? With all the $$$ we the Pakistanis for counterterrorism, that’s very upsetting if you ask me.

Bo Jackson played for the Chicago White Sox and the L.A. Raiders. Dion Sanders played for the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. Jim Thorpe is as of now, known to play 3 different Pro sports. Pro baseball, Pro football and Pro basketball (not NBA).

  88. Curt May 2, 2011 1:42 pm

Apparently, we contribute billions of dollars in military and civilian development aid to Pakistan. With some of that $, they build a compound to hide Osama. How outrageous of this “ally.”

  89. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 1:51 pm

    Sneaking across our border …

  90. NCAA May 2, 2011 2:25 pm

Don’t blame the Pakastani’s. Osama was just good at playing hide and seek. The weapons of mass destruction is also good at playing hide and seek.

  91. Hawaiianbod May 2, 2011 2:29 pm

    tsk tsk tsk

u must be related to that jacka$$ Donald.

    UFL Draft is happening now.

  96. tommui May 2, 2011 3:00 pm

EVENT MANAGEMENT – what does he believe, except what he wants to believe.

  97. kev-1 May 2, 2011 3:00 pm

brah – Davone Bess is one stand up guy. Love that guy. He’s not even from here, yet he keeps giving back. So proud of him.

  98. kev-1 May 2, 2011 3:03 pm

ummmmmmmmmm . . . UFL draft – Hartford Colonials take QB (wait for it . . . ) Jerrod Johnson, out of Texas A&M??????????????????????????? What happened to Colt? Is he not part of the draft?

  99. RedZone May 2, 2011 3:12 pm

Colonials already own rights to Colt. why do they have to draft him?

  100. J May 2, 2011 3:14 pm

Been following the UFL draft via Twitter.

  101. kev-1 May 2, 2011 3:16 pm

99 REDZONE – yeah, I’m not sure, that’s why I’m asking. Thanks for the answer.

  102. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 3:19 pm

I think Jerry Glanville just wasted a 1st round draft pick when you already have Colt.

Jerrod Johnson lost his starting job half way though the season last year. From the quote of the Kansas game “During the ensuing Kansas game, he split time at quarterback with second-string Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill outperformed Johnson with his 12-for-16 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson lost the starting job to Tannehill after the Kansas game.”

Should have gotten more OL to protect Colt.

  103. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 3:21 pm

Sounds just like my 49ers. A wasted 1st Round pick.

  104. LizKauai May 2, 2011 3:24 pm

I’m thinking they are protecting themselves in the event that Colt moves into another league…

  105. NCAA May 2, 2011 3:25 pm

No tst tsk tsk here. I’m glad that Osama was found and duly put to rest. Just the time it took to find the guy seems odd. But if you look at our own backyard we have criminals that live near law enforcement and military installations and they can’t be found either. Do we blame the police or military? No. The criminal is just good at hiding.

  106. RedZone May 2, 2011 3:25 pm

I think Colt is still unsigned so that maybe the reason JG drafted a qb.

  107. RedZone May 2, 2011 3:26 pm

Everybody still waiting on the NFL…………………….

  108. RedZone May 2, 2011 3:29 pm

Usama only lived less then a kilometer from Pakistan’s version of West Point.

  109. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 3:53 pm

UFL Draft 2011 Harford Conn (Jerry Glanville)

Gets 1st pick in each of 10 round drafted players on (May 2) Free agency (begins May 3)

    So far Jerry Drafted:

    1. QB Jerrod Johnson – Texas A&M A wasted Pick he lost starting job half way thru season.

    2. OG Kurt Quaterman – Louisville Mostly Practice squad on NYG, Cleveland and Detroit

    3. C Cecil Newton Jr – Tenn State Brother of now famous NFL No. 1 Draft Cam Newton

    4. OG Ricky Henry – Nebraska RG did superb job protecting the QB and holes for RB

    5. RB Phillip Tanner – Middle Tenn State Runs 4.55 Pro Day – A player to watch with 34 TD

  110. Okole Maluna May 2, 2011 3:56 pm

By the way how did UH do in Fresno Ball? Or doing? We need to win the last one and go 3 – 1 to Reno.

    Good evening, everyone.

Long night last night resulting in a long day.

  118. Brandblusser May 2, 2011 4:24 pm

Hello webmaster. I like your blog about The Warrior Beat| UH football, University of Hawaii athletics | staradvertiser.com | Honolulu, Hawaii.

But i have a question totaly off this subject: Do you use a seperate blogposting program or do you write your blogposts in the wordpress admin? If you post your answer below mine, then i will read this in the next few day’s.

    Thanks Brandblusser

  119. Dennis Halloran May 2, 2011 4:31 pm

Harbaugh, when he was at USD, took a skinny kid from Oakland Tech to a top flight, drafted and still playing kid

    Josh Johnson

  120. Garret May 2, 2011 4:35 pm

There was some talk about how the “Birthers” would be “Deathers” earlier in the blog…but they aren’t done being “Birthers”. “Birthers” argued in federal court today that Pres. Obama has faked vital documents all his life and is ineligible to be President:

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/05/cocal-birthers-urge-appeals-court-to-hear-their-case-challenging-obamas-presidency.html

  121. Garret May 2, 2011 4:37 pm

I think that Tuipulotu has a chance to go very, very high in the draft next year. DTs are a need position for a number of teams and he has the measurables that the NFL values as well as the production.

  122. Garret May 2, 2011 4:38 pm

The Sun Belt’s Commissioner revealed that 4 of the schools in his conference have turned down the WAC.

Waters said North Texas, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe are “not interested” in joining the league, which is searching to bolster its ranks even further after the recent additions of UTSA, Texas State and Denver (non-football).

“All four have called and said, ‘Just to let you know, they’ve called, but we’re not interested,’” he said. “I’m not worried about it. We’ve kind of moved on. There are other issues to worry about.”

    http://blog.mysanantonio.com/utsa/2011/05/waters-source-wac-expansion-wont-include-sun-belt-big-sky-schools/

  123. Garret May 2, 2011 4:40 pm

It appears that Montana, Montana State, Cal-Poly, and possibly another Big Sky school were contacted by the WAC but aren’t interested.

Though the Big Sky source said commissioner Doug Fullerton has yet to receive definitive declarations from his schools, the source is “very comfortable” the league will remain intact after Montana, Montana State, Cal-Poly and “maybe one more” Big Sky school were contacted by the WAC within the past month.

  124. Shoko May 2, 2011 4:40 pm

I can’t seem to stop watching CNN.

    Derek,

I agree completely on what you said. The purpose of my comment wasn’t to bash him in anyway. Just wanted to keep it real on Kap’s future in the NFL. He has alot of work ahead of him. As I said before, he’s a good well-mannered kid with alot of potential and I wish him success.

Had the opportunity to talk with him couple times. Once in Reno couple years ago at a restaurant when he was dinning with his parents – who are also good peoples – and once at SFO earlier this year. He knows what ahead of him and have no doubt, with his work ethic, he will have a fruitful career, even if its carrying a clipboard..lol.

  125. Shoko May 2, 2011 4:43 pm

Tough to be in Benson’s shoes.

  126. LizKauai May 2, 2011 4:46 pm

Mana Silva will be Kainoa’s teammate in SAC!

  127. Shoko May 2, 2011 4:46 pm

Apparently a teacher from Washington shaved for the first time since 9/11. Wonder if he goes by Wafan?

  128. Kazz May 2, 2011 4:48 pm

Heavy price to pay for being in the MWC and not so much for the BWC…

Again, the situation for the WAC leaves NO DOUBT that UH could NOT afford to stay in the WAC.

  129. Kekoa May 2, 2011 4:53 pm

ST ~ You have UNCLASSIFIED mail.

  130. Curt May 2, 2011 4:54 pm

I haven’t found any other news that collaborated the report that Osama’s compound was built by the Pakistani military. So until I do, I’ll have to treat that report more as a rumor or maybe attribute it to aging, defective ears.

  131. Shoko May 2, 2011 5:10 pm

Wonder if Mark Bowden is thinking about writing a book about Osama’s death.

  132. Ralph May 2, 2011 5:19 pm

Curt Focus on locating the Senegalese, or offer to feed the birdie, but forget the quest to find out who built the compound, the dude is dead and buried at sea.

  133. wafan May 2, 2011 5:20 pm

    Shoko . . .

    Ummmm, no.

  134. Marky May 2, 2011 5:20 pm

Howdy!. Informative article. I attempted load up this website and it seemed look at. I was loading it on a EVO 4g. It may have been this cell though. I am quite postive. Perhaps check into it. Anyways…. Keep up the excellent work and I will stop by in the near future. The article was worth the read. Buh-bye..

  135. wafan May 2, 2011 5:20 pm

    Nytal!

  136. Hammi May 2, 2011 5:22 pm

This is the worst thing that could happen for Colt. He has zero chance of going to the NFL without UFL exposure. Jerrod Johnson towers over Colt and has 5 times the ability, mobility, and arm-strength. This is Colt’s last dying days of relevance, and Glanville knows it 🙁 Keep your head up Colt!

  137. Yips May 2, 2011 5:26 pm

Colt better hurry up and sign because Jerrod Johnson is already very interested in this league (per his agent) and being second string in the UFL is an NFL death sentence.

At this rate Colt will end up in the AFL if he isn’t careful because even if the NFL lockout is lifted, he has no chance of a camp invite: zero, nada, nothing. The guy hasn’t played football in forever and is coming off an accident! He can use June and Glanville for UFL hookups, but NOBODY cares about his future in the NFL. Get your act together Colt, we still believe. Mahalo Yips.

  138. Questionable May 2, 2011 5:28 pm

Let me guess, within the next 10 posts we will hear, “Colt was never given a chance in the UFL!” Just like he was “never given a chance in the NFL” despite 3 chances with the Redskins, Raiders, and Texans. Fail Brennan, please stop embarrassing yourself.

  139. FlouD May 2, 2011 5:35 pm

Where is the football commitment Colt Brennan? The reason why you flopped in DC was your poor work ethic and conditioning. And I hear today from one of my charter boys that you are fishing in some tournament and getting drunk in Hawaii today? WHY ARE YOU NOT TRAINING IN ARIZONA? Why are you not rehabbing your body back into football shape? Do you realize just how close you are to never taking another snap in a football game again? Do you care? I love you bro, but damn, it’s like you want to fail. Talk about entitlement. Arghhhhhh.

  140. 花蓮旅遊 May 2, 2011 5:42 pm

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  141. Kekoa May 2, 2011 5:47 pm

Guy Hagi going bonkers over a water spout off the reef runway. Watch, now no mo time for important news like SPORTS!

  142. Kekoa May 2, 2011 5:55 pm

    – Now Justin on kitv is going crazy with this weather event. Like we nevah seen rain storm before. Hmmmph!

  143. motorbreath May 2, 2011 5:55 pm

    “LizKauai:

    May 2nd, 2011 at 3:24 pm

I’m thinking they are protecting themselves in the event that Colt moves into another league…”

Aloha and allow me to stop laughing. Whew! What is lower than the UFL? Because Colt isn’t moving up to the NFL, that’s for sure. That chapter is closed shut forever and it’s 100% his own fault. Oh, he may be able to start in the Hawaii Professional Football League? You don’t washout of the NFL to the UFL and go back up to the NFL without doing anything. Turn out the lights, put away the pineapples, it’s over for Colt. He’s way off the NFL radar and nobody even knows he exists unless you believe the lies of Ryan Tollner. lolololol hahahahahahah You did us proud at UH, but let us down when UH needed NFL representation the most! Thankssss Colt!

  144. smileyinhawaii May 2, 2011 6:03 pm

This is what my UH brethren have turned into? What matters: Green, Pilares, and Salas drafted into the NFL. That is who we should be proud of. Colt Brennan let us down with his poor work ethic, character, and conditioning while with the Redskins, he’s a distant memory. Have fun in the minors Colt, nobody cares.

  149. Kekoa May 2, 2011 6:22 pm

Congrats Jason! I’m glad my vote made such a HUGE impact.

  150. kealoola May 2, 2011 6:38 pm

Damn, was that thunder? Or the window slamming shut on Colt’s football career? Either way, I’m logging off, the lightning is bad!

  151. papajoe2 May 2, 2011 6:43 pm

    All same person?

  152. Kekoa May 2, 2011 7:08 pm

Obviously not Colt fans. How soon they forget.

  153. J May 2, 2011 7:19 pm

    Maybe all same insane person.

  154. Curt May 2, 2011 7:27 pm

    Sounds like the same person.

  155. Curt May 2, 2011 7:29 pm

C’mon Colt. Bear down and make it happen.

  156. Curt May 2, 2011 7:31 pm

    Ralph,

#133 I hear you. But when you’ve served in the desert, it’s hard for me to not be interested. Don’t know if it’s the same for Kekoa, BG, or the others.

  157. Curt May 2, 2011 7:40 pm

Most people aren’t affected or care about what’s going on overseas. When I was attending UH back in the Middle Ages, one of my friends didn’t know if we were fighting the North or South Vietnamese.

But you’re right Ralph, this is the Warrior Beat afterall. So lets talk about da thunder and lightning show. Wowee…must be the Warriors bombing away on the practice field.

  158. Curt May 2, 2011 7:43 pm

Good to hear Blakes and Dillon bonding on their trip here. Looking forward to seeing them on court. Shaquille should be the visitor coming in this weekend. Hopefully all goes well.

  159. el burro sabio May 2, 2011 7:51 pm

Big Island track & field championships held over the weekend. The same girl won the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, triple jump, and placed 2nd in the high jump, some kid named Emalia Galdeira. Heard she plays a little basketball too.

  160. Shoko May 2, 2011 8:09 pm

I think the AFL or AIFL would be considered as a step down to the UFL. Anyway, lets be reminded of a certain player, Kurt Warner, who played in the AFL before his NFL career.

Man, I think I had my fill of CNN and the Osama coverage. Hope I don’t have nightmares tonight. Good night Tsaikos.

P.S. Wafan, I was just kidding about my #128 post.

  161. Derek May 2, 2011 8:41 pm

Blakes and Biggs learning to surf being shown on ESPN.com. Good publicity for recruiting in the future. You can’t beat that kind of exposure an you can’t put a price on it. One top recruit because they saw this clip is priceless. Great job Gib and Brendyn. Of course, thank you Dayton for your site and your video.

  162. al May 2, 2011 8:43 pm

plenty lolos here today or am i sadly mistaken that perhaps they are one of the same.

poor guy was caught lying. how embarassing that he got swallowed by his own whale.

  163. SteveM May 2, 2011 8:48 pm

    Weather quieting down?

Who’s running on laptop/smart phone power battery power and who’s running on home electricity?

    Desktop power here in Liliha/Nuuanu.

  164. G (China) May 2, 2011 8:51 pm

President Obama has problems not because of his handling of Afghanistan or his stance with Bin Landen but rather handling of US deficits, jobs, economy, taxes, and increasing the government at levels never seen before namely spending. Those problems will not just go away. I’m happy for Obama and America that we got the terrorist, but it is silly to try and politicize this achievement.

  165. al May 2, 2011 8:57 pm

well the ghost is going to western kentucky. kevin kaspar committed today after visiting fresno st. this weekend. the significane of this is that he was one of two point guards in the mix there.

earlier he too was on our radar. but things change along the way.

and even more of significant importance is that shaquille stokes who is tripping this weekend had western kentucky in his new top four which included colorado st. where he was visiting this past weekend. the other team is tcu.

how good a closer is gibber? we’ll find out soon.

  166. al May 2, 2011 9:12 pm

well the power was out for hours. we had literally a candlelight dinner.

glad i bought the backup battery for the pc.

  167. Curt May 2, 2011 9:13 pm

    al,

With Kaspar going to W Kentucky, you would think that might decrease the attractiveness of that school to Shaquille. I would think the bigger competitor for us is TCU as they’re going to the Big East. Hope da Gib can pull another one out of the hat.

  168. Curt May 2, 2011 9:15 pm

    al,

Do you have an opinion on who’s the better player? Da ghost or da Shaq?

  169. cocobean May 2, 2011 9:31 pm

    John Lennon once sang,

All the lonley people where do they all come from, all the lonley people where do they all belong , aah all the lonely people…..

The Colt bashers(or basher) should have posted as Eleanor Rigby or Father Mckenzie. To post what they(he) did on this blog is a definite cry for attention. They(he) know(s) that some of the staunchest Colt supporters post here. To them(him) negative attention is better than no attention.

“aah, all the lonely people where to they all come from”

  170. RedZone May 2, 2011 9:48 pm

Power off then power on. Power off then power on again. I wish that the guy at Hawaiian Electric would stop playing with the switch.

  171. Kekoa May 2, 2011 10:08 pm

Aunty LizK ~ Get your lead slippah ready. Next Colt basher go’n get it right on top da head!

  172. Kazz on Droid_X May 2, 2011 10:29 pm

    All the same profile.

50+ or older and no one in their life will listen to them so they go online to find someone that will.

    Probably all divorced or virgins.

No kids or kids that disowned them.

  174. kev-1 May 2, 2011 10:41 pm

How the **** did Colt let anyone down? I’ll grant that he hasn’t succeeded like many of us thought he would, but let us down? Wake up! Never mind coming over here just to bash someone pursuing his dream, let alone insult the many UH and Colt fans that frequent this site. Nobody forces anyone else to like Colt. Smack talkers that talk smack on blogs do so because they no like get smacked in person. SMACK EM LIZK!

  175. tommui May 2, 2011 10:49 pm

KAZZ re:173 – I think you overstated it – I think it is the same jerk that is posting under three names –

    ST, check them out!

  176. SteveM May 2, 2011 11:11 pm

Obviously the same sock puppet master is back today… I was thinking of recording all the sock puppet names in one record but that’s too much work. Only counts as one person anyway…. 😐

  177. SteveM May 2, 2011 11:27 pm

In my records, there have been 2,568 Hawaii and 227 mainland/international credible blog names since The Warrior Beat began. Total = 2,895

No known aliases and sock puppets were listed, but there are probably more. Also, some residing outside of Hawaii never indicated what city.

Two exceptions in the records: Koa Mahu/Koa-Mahu and Maryann(e). 🙂

  178. Kazz on Droid_X May 2, 2011 11:38 pm

    Tom Mui,

Prior to the Colt hater, there are two seperate individuals.

This third one is pretty much a third different person.

  179. Slugger May 2, 2011 11:41 pm

Congratulations, Moanalua HS & Jason! They interviewed 3 students on the morning news (KFVE?) today. That helped. Next time, get some air time earlier…

Lots of lightning & thunder tonight. Just one brief outage.

    K, good night!

  180. Stephen Tsai May 2, 2011 11:53 pm

    Yep, same person.

  181. al May 3, 2011 12:16 am

    curt…can’t say since i haven’t seen either.

i’ll just trust in the gibber with all my heart….

  182. al May 3, 2011 12:17 am

heard that kaspar was more of a combo guard.

baby shaq is a true point guard.

  183. al May 3, 2011 12:20 am

signing small shaq will require a total mutual agreement by both coaches, team, and recruit and his parents.

recruit and parents must also place their trust in gibber and staff to let their son come to hawaii by way of new york. that is about as coast to coast as one can get. but, we have had many east coast athletes.

  184. al May 3, 2011 12:23 am

    and guys…no forget.

mother’s day is approaching this sunday.

don’t ever say to the boss, “you’re not my mother…”, as that is one of the fastest comments to take you to the doghouse.

  185. Curt May 3, 2011 12:26 am

    al,

I’d say TCU has the big double advantage: 1. Being in the Big East. 2. Many games will be within driving distance of NYC for the family to attend.

  186. Curt May 3, 2011 12:27 am

But if we got Reggie Carter from NYC in the past, maybe we have a chance with lil Shaq. But then, didn’t Reggie transfer to St. John’s after his freshman year?

  187. al May 3, 2011 12:28 am

i am hoping that football recruiting gets it in gear.

i don’t want to hear the same stuff year in and year out from the top local talents.

“…well, we haven’t heard from hawaii.”

“no one’s kept in contact with us.”

“we called coach mack but he sent coach __ instead. all we wanted was to meet with the head coach.”

i am hoping this is not going to cost us another local blue chipper.

    …nuff said.

true curt…but, recruiting is such a fragile thing. you never know what it is that will influence a 17-18 year old to pick a school/program.

btw, reggie carter left after the ncaa sanctions. if not, he would have finished his career hear.

Undeniably believe that that you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the internet the simplest thing to have in mind of. I say to you, I certainly get irked even as other people think about concerns that they just do not recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also outlined out the whole thing with no need side-effects , other people could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thank you

Guess I was wrong. Guess the idiot is speechless and sad about softball sweeping NMSU.

You’d figure he’d sing Trap’s praises about baseball splitting with #13 FSU, but the moron thrives on UH losses.

  193. wafan May 3, 2011 2:42 am

    Good morning, Tsai-kos!

  194. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:04 am

    Morning, everyone!

Seems like the PNW… always raining here!

What happened yesterday? Looks like another clown decided to double park his bus in a no parking zone, and offload all his alter-egos… as the crowd sings, “Look at all the stupid people…”

Anyways, hope you all have a great day!

  195. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:06 am

Been sticking with Green Tea lately, in place of my usual coffee.

So much for my health kick… downing some Famous Amos cookies with the tea! Now, I’m gonna have to workout twice as hard today. Some people never learn!

  196. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:07 am

    C’mon, Wafan… join me… 197… (unless others are up too…)

  197. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:08 am

  200. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:09 am

    200… And I have a question…

If I move to Georgia, am I still referred to as Michigan Warrior? Or shall I come up with a new moniker?

  201. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:10 am

  206. Michigan Warrior May 3, 2011 3:19 am

At least it’s not hot out there yet. We used to make it to the MAGIC fashion convention every fall when we had our stores. Way too hot at that time of year.

  207. Shoko May 3, 2011 6:49 am

So, the WAC and its remaining schools are asking the three exiting schools to forfeit not just next year’s paycheck, but this year as well?

I sympathize with the WAC and its eventual loss of revenue, but UH, Nevada and Fresno State gotta eat too.

  208. Shoko May 3, 2011 7:10 am

Interesting tidbit on Boise State and the NCAA who are claiming violations have occured.

“The probe discovered 63 incoming football players received impermissible benefits for housing, transportation and meals worth a total $4,934. The amount of the violations ranged from $2.34 to a maximum of $417.55 and have been reimbursed”

So all Warrior fans, be forewarned, do not buy any plate lunches to any incoming players. Sorry Dillon and Biggs.

  209. Slugger May 3, 2011 7:14 am

    Good morning, gang!

  210. Kekoa May 3, 2011 7:16 am

Just a friendly reminder that we here on the ceded lands are on a heightened security watch for the next decade. 😎

  211. Fredrick Olson May 3, 2011 7:39 am

OK, it’s finally done with. United States at last found Bin Laden. A chapter finished for us living in the United States.

  212. BG May 3, 2011 7:52 am

Good morning folks! Might want to be a bit careful about being around widely publicized events with big crowds…at least for the next 3-4 months. I do admit to a little paranoia [looking around wide-eyed], but as sure as the sun rises in the east, there will be retaliation from Osama’s organization. Perhaps uncoordinated at first, but moreso when the replacement is in place…hopefully that will take a long, long time if the organization fractures. A little paranoia could go a long way. When traveling outside the US, its worthwhile to read the anti-terrorist literature to reduce your profile as an American. Don’t stress but be smart.

  213. BG May 3, 2011 7:59 am

There are Tsaikos (who I won’t name) who can corroborate that the number of terrorist groups in the world are incredible. There are many within the borders of the US who are sleepers waiting to be activated. This is not a video game. Living in fear is not living. But being aware and taking what steps you can is a good thing.

We should hope that the WH does NOT release a picture of a shot up OBL. It will only incite more hatred of us through Al Queda. A picture will not be accepted by the “skeptics” anyway; they will say it is faked (as they quite simply say was the birth certificate). So why bother?

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

It really doesn’t matter what proof they release, these “doubter” bozos will find reasons to say it is just a “fake” or it’s “photo-shopped”. You can count on that. This nonsense will take and on and on, just like the birth certificate inability. Then the bozos will move on to their next conspiracy theory. Apparently, it’s their life blood.

The brand new Pfizer logo looks sloppy and careless to me. The blue clearspace approximately the wordmark is uneven. I such as the idea, but the execution is bad. The previous one is tighter.I do notunderstand what you like improved regarding the new Guitar Hero logo. The detrimental space between the letters makes it almost extremely hard to learn for me.As for El Banco Deuno, I do notget it at all. The line breaks appear entirely jarring to me and remind me of a logo I did for my s ister is line of crafts when I was about 15 (it was the phrase pollywogs??? on two lines, having a hyphen?- ugh). Finally, I’d like to view your l ist of Identities that are in desperate require of a redesign. My #1 choose could well be Verizon.

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.

  304. e-ticaret May 18, 2011 4:07 am

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
