“Quez” to return
Remember Marquez Jackson?
He said he is registered for the spring semester and hopeful of competing with the Warriors. Jackson originally enrolled at UH as a slotback. He then left to play for the Rainbow Warrior basketball team. And then he left UH.
Jackson said he is focused solely on football.

With the Hula Bowl dead and the Pro Bowl on hiatus, there won’t be another football game in Hawaii until Sept. 2. Now you wished you attended that UH-New Mexico State game.

Where is everybody?
Good Morning!
That “another football game in Hawaii” in September is against USC. With an almost new O-Line for the Warriors.
Hope the coaching staff doesn’t try to feed us too much hype this year.
The development of the offensive line should be interesting in spring practice.
Happy New Year Tsaikos
Morning all.. hope everyone had a great, safe, wonderful Christmas…
The O line should be very good this yr and I think they may outperform this yr’s line with the exception of the center. The cupboard is not bare and there are some studs there now and incoming.
Everyone has gone to the malls this AM?
Good morning Hawaii!
Top 10?
but I look forward to the spring competition for the qb’s job. this yr the qb will be working with a much taller oline, so height may make a difference.
Hope everyone received what they wanted for Christmas and what they need for the New Year!
The worst part of the holidays is the clean up.
Ugh.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Hey! Top 10!!!
Whoo-hoo!!!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
ST, you are right, Benson DID text me his Christmas wish list to Santa.
1. ST would be nice to me, I want to be his friend.
2. The Tsaikos would accept me
3. Chawan Cut stops making lame comments.
4. Boise St wins (only because I am a BSU alum)
5. A white long sleeve shirt and tie, this aloha shirt is not “up tight” enough
Stretch
you’re killing me, but still gotta love ya
it’s going to be exciting at Spring practice….i think the OL will be on a quick learning curve, but that’s the beauty of Spring practice.
Happy day after to everyone……stay safe and stay healthy 🙂
Bulla – I hope Benson loves me too, but somehow I don’t think so. He probably don’t know me by my “name” but am sure he would recognize me as that damn loud mouth at the baseball games. Wait, he might get me confused with koakane. Okay, he doesn’t know who I am.
Since Christmas is over – SHINNEN AKEMASHITE OMEDETO GOZAIMASU!!
Eh??? Shinnen wa mada aketa arimasen!
Stretch…
#6… Hmm… Week#2 Boise…Week#3 Fresno… Week#4 Utah… shucks after that Hawaii gets home games, huh?
Yep, just tu-fiddy mo’ days ’til football…..
Whew! The refuse guys DID come by this morning…thought it might be 3 weeks between trash pickup days!
I thought it’s called – RUBBISH in the 808! 😯

~~~•~~~~•~~Good..Morning..Tsaikos..and..Warrior..Nation!!!~~•~~~~•~~~
Stretch
no way he’d confuse you with koakane…..no comparison, he’s more round (in the eyes of course) and when you guys walk down the road, it looks like #10.
when pride, jim d. and i walk down the road…..you say, ‘road, what road….’ haha
you still #1 UH fan…die hard to da maximus gluteus maximus
βρεω808,
Not since the unions got involved! Rubbish!
😆
βρεω808,
Not sure about other locations, but the way folks were loading up the firecrackers by the case, the Waipahu store may be cleaned out by now!
Was talking with a friend of ours and she said their family bout 80 permits! 😯
Stretch,
No forget about Ajoe…
Speaking of stretches….
Not only a long wait until live football returns but….
βρεω808, Jason, A-house, d1島….all blue since the Niners eliminated from playoffs. 🙁
Adding to the #13 KB Wish List started by Stretch – 😆
➡ – Standardize “blue” underwear. KB is tired of dying his own…. although the “dying” process does provide shrinkage and that special commissioning “fit”….. 😈
➡ – Forget russet potatoes….. need one “special” variety named “Benson”
➡ – Get that “A-house” guy to stop picking on “me”….
At least we’re not RAIDER fans!!! 🙄
Good morning everyone!
Was wondering if anyone read this yet:…
“In it’s current state and on it’s current course, by the end of 2010, the University of Hawaii football program will either be faced with dropping to Division II status, or dropping football all together.”
Some guy was setting up the tables for fireworks to go on sale later today at Windward Mall… 2nd floor just off Macy’s.
EH NO MAKE !:
Yeah… we discussed that last week.. the premise was too weak or too faulty.
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Merry Christmas Day After and a Happy New Year!
Happy birthday and belated B-days to the December folks!
Just woke up from my food coma only to go straight to eating breakfast.
So with Quez coming back how much eligibility does he have left?
Good morning gangeez!!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!! People still in their fuuuuud comas from yesterday?
Dropping keed off at Ala Moana and then heading in to the office for a little while. Need to make it to the post office to send off my “holiday” cards before they close today.
Royvic…
I think it also depends on whether or not these applicants get accepted by UH Grad School, too.
Some things are not in the control of the coach.
Time to wish them a happy holiday with family, too. Players, coaches, grad assists and all. Happy Holidays!
no lame comments here. only insightful ones!
and too STUPID.
12-1 in one season = can we afford a Top 20 program?
13-14 in two seasons = should we dump football or get down to DII?
again… F’N STUPID.
I’m curious as to how much eligibility Marquez Jackson has left. It would seem that his eligibility clock would have started when he originally joined the UH football team and he hasn’t had an event that would have stopped his clock. With the long break from football and with the depth that UH has at the receiver position next season, he has a hard battle to move up the depth chart.
On the bright side for him, UH loses a lot of receivers after next season and there could be playing time available for a receiver who understood the system then. I wish him well in his attempt to join the Warriors. The amount of eligibility he has left is a big factor in his chances to earn playing time.
Kazz,
Don’t rule out stupidity when the state is looking around at what they can do to cut expenses. There are some huge cuts coming to UH, so the budget deficit for the Athletic Department worries me. The good news is that it would be political suicide to try to go after sports at UH. But politicians have done stupid stuff before…
However, it appears that they already cut funding for high school sports and without Amemiya’s big fundraising job there would be big cuts in high school sports. With Amemiya not at that position anymore, the new person will have to be just as good of a fundraiser or some high school sports *will* be cut. After that, the number crunchers will start looking at UH Athletics…
I don’t think that UH Athletics is in any danger for the next 3 years at least. However, there may be a *huge* conference shuffle in 3 years or so, and many of the schools left out in the realignment will probably end up eventually cutting football. Due to travel costs, I do not think that UH could afford a D-I Athletic program without football.
So it is very, very important that UH football and men’s basketball be in good shape within the next 3 years. Those are the only important sports to a conference since they are the money makers and the way that conferences get respect.
royvic,
No one is around to do the paperwork either
another breaking news Urban Myers stepping down from Florida.
afternoon tsaiko country, warrior and wahine fans
yes you heard it Myer’s leaving Florida
My God! I’m trying to watch this football GAME between Pitt and NC and they’re acting like Meyer was discoved to be the second gunman on the grassy knoll… 🙄
Agree wholeheartedly!! Very negative, nearsighted, sky is falling, defeatist attitude every time there is a financial challenge to UH Athletics. “Gotta drop down to Div-II.” UH no can complete against the big boys.” “Drop Athletics all together.” Sounds like the old futs who hang out all day at McDonalds and have nothing better to do than complain about stuff – “I no more kids, so I don’t care about education anymore.”
Then I shall wish ill feelings on the “number crunchers” and those looking to support budget cuts to UH athletics that may render it unable to compete at the Division 1 level.
I shall wish that a foul wind of physical or mental disease sweeping over their immediate family members.
If these morons have already forgotten how UH athletics affects the local economy (i.e. food and beverage beer sale increases during the UH football season due to tailgates and house parties) then I wish phyisical harm upon them.
There is no other way to say this other than an foul language-filled rant.
Urban Meyer shoud just relax, kick back, get some sun and surf and come to Hawaii to apply as head football coach at University of Hawaii. It would be a no stress job for him and good for him and his health. Better yet, his kids can get a first rate education at Punahou (assuming they are not in college).
I said “trying” to watch. 😆
What happened? Was watching game and fell asleep. Boring.
Hope the next one is better.
Florida should go after JJ.
By saying “better yet”, are you implying that the best pitch to someone like Meyer that the real plus for him to apply for the UH head coaching job is so his kids can get into a private high school in Hawaii?
Right… 😆
Urban Meyer resigns…. WOW..
RedZone,
Florida going after June Jones?
How big would a book about two seasons of Mustang football be? 😯
Old School Dave,
Actually it’s not “I no more kids anymore so I don’t care about education”, it’s actually the “well, my kids neva went UH so I no care and the parking is real bad, I have to sit in traffic for 20 minutes, and get plenny people making noise”…
😆
Wonder if Charlie Strong + Mike Sanford already signed their contract with Louisville? Wow talk about bad timing.
so i checked with my good friend free online fortune teller crystal ball and asked
so what, Urban, da wife Shelley and daare tree kids gonna leave Gainesville and come Honolulu so da kids can go Punahou or McKinley?
and da crystal ball answered, Huh?!
only joking,
I mean Fearington. 😆
sounds like a really successful football coach got a case of the
chest shakes, and is scared for his life. sounds like a good time to
spend more time with the kids…. his kids…
KAZZ: How many students in a private school in Florida ever became President of these United States?
How many students in a private school in Florida ever got the Nobel Prize?
Something Urban is thinking about?
My best to Coach Meyer and hope he has a healthy 2010 and yrs to come.
Urban Meyer’s oldest daughter is a volleyball player at Georgia Tech. I’m guessing that his other 2 kids are either finished with high school or just have a year or so left.
sheeesh, when they said that this was a “dead” week, it doesn’t have to be that literally
Wow, I didn’t realize that Meyer had been diagnosed with a heart valve muscle defect and had been to the hospital multiple times in the past few weeks. He’s made a lot of money, had great success, and I hope that he is able to relax and have a long, healthy retirement.
KB is just trying to appear busy so he doesn’t have to look any of the hostile natives in the eye.
Hostile natives like Tom Mui or whitey… ya know, the real mean kind.
here’s one story about Meyer.
Or maybe KB is tryin’ to figure out how to work his camera phone so he can take a picture of Tsai takin a picture of him.
I was looking up costs for a new stadium in Hawaii and didn’t realize that SMU’s stadium cost just $42 million! For that they got 32,000 seats (can be expanded to 45,000 quite simply) with about 600 preferred club level seats and 240 seats in 24 luxury boxes ($$$). The stadium was completed in 2000, so costs would be higher now, but still much less than the numbers I had seen estimated for a new stadium in Hawaii.
After seeing SMU’s three horseys on the field, KB is checking the NCAA rules to see if it would be okay to have three horseys on the field for Boise. All of those horseys would be “Boise Turf Blue”of course.
He’s trying to find out where he and Coach Ault can get one o’ them blue margaritas in Waikiki after the game.
Garret-
Weren’t the local estimates for a new stadium upwards of $300 million?
DPK.. I think 300 million was for the maintenance and repair necessary to keep the current Stadium for the next 20 years.
too much stress at the florida position. just like ND and bama. i bet he also didn’t want to deal with a year without his golden boy tebow. meyer ran away to florida after he led utah to their first bcs and undefeated season. i bet utah fans know what the florida fans are feeling right now. that was also alex smith’s final season too.
coaches always have the coaching itch. he won’t stay out for long.
DPK,
I think that the estimates for maintenance for Aloha Stadium have been reported as high as $100 million and the estimate for a new stadium has been put at $200 million to $300 million.
we should also all be watching the Emerald bowl right now. its good preparation for our first game of the season next year. most of those USC guys will be back.
14-7 USC right now in the 2nd.
spoke too soon. its 14-6. BC misses the XP.
madeinhawaii,
$300 million for maintenance? Will the state actually come up with that money? They already are forcing the Stadium Authority and/or UH to fundraise to replace the turf, and that is a health issue.
I’d hate for the maintenance to fall so far behind that the stadium has to be closed for repairs after a bad incident. UH is already years behind of its maintenance and WassupDoc already reported how the second stage of the maintenance repairs for Aloha Stadium may get pushed from a 2012 completion to a 2014 completion.
Hey Garret, howzit MIH! How was your Christmases?
How much does the state have allotted for ongoing repair at this point?
Thanks for the helpful and insightful heads up chawan_cut! Will do.
The differences in stadium costs:
Lots of illegal aliens + lots of rich alums = lower costs for a stadium.
Hawai’ian time + kickbacks + lack of quality control = tremendous cost overruns for half of what was planned.
I was surprised that the cost of living here averages 60 percent or so higher than the mainland. That must go for stadiums.
Even the illegal aliens here cost more… 😆
Wafan – don’t forget the unions.
I doubt that the State will make a decision on the stadium until it’s really too late and the Stadium can no longer be brought up to safety standards under a reasonable budget… like all things under the State…
I mean look at the schools… they need 250-300 million just to catch up with overdue repairs.. and the University of Hawaii estimates their needs to be what was it? A billion in 10 years or so? Yikes! Most of that gets inflated because the State fails to maintain existing properties on a timely basis.
It’s like a small hole in a damn.. leave it alone and you’re asking for trouble.
Same thing with JJ’s situation in 2007… sit on it.. wait till the last minute… maybe it won’t be a shuffling of the Majors in football that closes down Warrior football.. maybe it’ll simply be ineptitude on the part of our Governor, State legislature and senate.
Ok, we all grab shovels…
and meet in Diamond Head…
and start carving out steps…
Should only take a year or two…
and whalah! One stadium inside Diamond Head…
Unless the sleeping volcano wakes up…
HiFlyer,
We should ask Walmart to design and oversee the construction of a new Stadium. They’ll probably get it built under budget and before the deadline, just like their Keeaumoku store. To think they managed that with the striking cement workers.
And all the concern about traffic.. I swear, traffic flows better there than when there was no Walmart.
Hmmmm…
Walmart…or Cosco…or Don Quixote…
No need a “public” stadium…
and no need a stadium “authority”…
They could have a store on first level all around…
And even make it a mile high with condo’s above
the execute sweets and press boxes…
It could be a money maker…
But location of Ala Wai golf course would not work…
Too many smashed windshields from errant golf balls…Gotta put it somewhere else…
it will be interesting to see if “Quez” gets his elgibility question settled before spring ball. I wish him well and hope he does get it.
wonder how much it would cost to buy the old stadium site and turn it over to UH for the purpose of expanding their athletic facilities.
since getting a new stadium is not in the near future, how can we get more students going to their home game at Aloha???? I think if someone would work with the bus company for game day trans, UH to Halawa to UH, it could be done. Cost would be free to nominal for the students. Be great to see at least 10-15000 students at each home game.
“Same thing with JJ’s situation in 2007… sit on it.. wait till the last minute… maybe it won’t be a shuffling of the Majors in football that closes down Warrior football.. maybe it’ll simply be ineptitude on the part of our Governor, State legislature and senate.”
MIH
Ya took the words right outta my mouth.
looks like BC does not have someone watching over them today as they are getting the purple shaft from the officials.
At least they’re gonna try Drive In Movies at the stadium to help bring in more revenue. It will be interesting to see how that flies.
dpk, how u???? hope you had a great Christmas and wish you and your family a healthy new year!!!
DPK,
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, but I was offline for dinner. Christmas was very nice with two friends over at our home for dinner (lau lau, lomi salmon, etc.) and with my girls having fun and being good all day. We also had my sister-in-law at our home for 4 days and she left on Christmas night…I would love to say more about that but my parents read this blog and my wife might read this also.
For those of you that are watching the USC – BC game, it seems that the refs and even the replay officiating is biased toward USC.
pecanpie’s idea of putting offices, etc at Aloha is an excellent idea. if you look at most of the stadium being built today, all have that concept and premium boxes.
whitey,
I think that UH offered free bus service to Aloha Stadium for UH students for several Warrior games and I do not think it increased student attendance much. The best student turnout seemed to be that late basketball game where the students could attend for free. If the students paid an Athletic Fee and could go to all UH sporting events for free, then maybe the student turnout would be much better.
They could have a licensed driving school there, so students would not have to expose themselves to undue stress while learning how to drive.
As far as KB is concerned, I will continue to state my negative opinions until HE does things that convinces me that his decisions are for the betterment of the WAC; not Boise State!
No waha, total transparency in all scheduling games, getting Fresno State to delete the “gauntlet” before some one gets hurt and sues the WAC, KB, Fresno St and its President/athletic director/football coach for lack of “oversight”, get rid of blue turf, etc, etc, etc.
Garret, yes, i think they did, but it has to be an organized thing where students know exactly what time the bus will be there and where to board the buses after the game. Like you said, build it in the student activity fees at a very nominal fee. Pickup could be at various dorm and campus spots and return would be at the same spot. We need to get the studnets to attend the game, so when they grad from UH, these will be our future support group for UH. We need to make them feel that UH has been a very good place to attend school and in the future they will be thinking of their time at UH as a most pleasant one. Going to athletic games is a great boost.
whitey,
I agree with everything you said in #114.
I wonder how big the musical chair will be for the Florida hc job?
Garret, your post about your in law can be taken either way, but am still holding my stomach and making sure I don’t fall off the chair.
whitey-
Christmas was excellent, thank you. Only problem was I’m sick with really bad bronchitis. I had to go to the docs today and get an IV. Might have to go back tomorrow. I haven’t been sick like this in years! Feelin much better today, das why you guys gotta put up with me here so much today.
Garret-
I missed da laulaus at my Uncle’s house yesterday because I was too sick to go. 🙁 Sounds like you folks had an awesome Christmas!
I really don’t understand why the WAC office cannot make the fb schedule at least 4 yrs in advance. True, tv may want certain games, but you wheel and deal when you come to that hurdle. WAC schools can then schedule opponents to upgrade the WAC image. How can you do that when all the other major schools are scheduling non conference games 4 yrs or more in advance and the WAC is left behind?????
Well, the UH students can ride the train…
when it is built…
in 2020???
dang dpk, it sounds bad, but know you will get better. believe in your inner soul and your ability to overcome this and yes you will be back to your old self. I know you can do this and you know you can do this and together we both know you can do this.
DPK…
Sorry to hear you’re under the weather. Take care and get better fast.
Thanks whitey. I know you know, and I know you know I know! Actually, I’m much better already, but you probably know that. 🙂
Does that other kid play football for KS Maui too?
Your 119, that’s so that KB can really make the schedule hard for UH if it appears we will have a good team that particular year.
Thanks mih-
Ironically, I got two weeks off from work just in time to get sick like this. 😆
prayer for the punchbow kid:
“…your FAITH has made you WHOLE.
Go in PEACE and be WHOLE of thy plague.”
(Mark 5:34)
Now you gotta take sick leave to enjoy a holiday.. not good.
I hate it when the cold goes down the chest. Just prolongs it all.
whitey: The UH-Mānoa Chancellor’s Office has paid for bus service for the past couple of years. It’s always the same, x many hours before kickoff (I think two?) from the same location (I think at Dole St and East-West Rd). I never used it, so I’m not sure of the details.
I’m more curious to see the usage statistics for that bus service. I know in the past, UH has had to get MORE buses because those they already had filled up. But as the team struggled, I wonder if those buses were still full.
ILPP-
Mahalo for that one. Love it! 😉
Are you a new poster or a new nic?
whitey,
I agree with your 114 and 119.
we can only pray that
JIM DONOVAN will make the call to Karl Benson
and give him the idea to schedule WAC games 4
years out. He reminds me of a typical politician,
say NO first thing.
HiFlyer rationale is closer to the truth. Union labor raises the cost tremendously, and it contributes to our high cost of living. Currently, the Aloha Stadium repair is being completed by mainland workers who are non union and it is costing us less. The Union hierarchy placed a tv ad asking the State to hire local, union labor. Bunch of BS.
Wafan, a lot of Mexicans are now looking for you because you dissed them.
Dallas isn’t cheap, the college is located in an up scale neighborhood. The non union contractors were productive to keep the cost down, finished on time. No issues.
Hey Jay! How’s the rookie of the year teacher doing?
bhf2 and Ralph in da hale! Hows you, gennlemens?
Hi, Da Punchbow Kid,
I’m relatively new but 70 years old…
IDK, DPK, I’ll be sure to ask him when I see him. 😀
Nice to have you here Pecan! BTW, Pecan Pie is my absolute favorite! I remember when we were kids on the mainland, gathering wild pecans to to make pies.
Jay- Humble! Nice…
I wonder how often teams like USC and BC play on natural turf?
aloha Tsaikos,
happy day after…….hope everyone survived!!
more specifically.. WET and Muddy, natural turf
Merry Christmas DPK, Merry Merry Christmas.
Jason, you the math genius, so it should be no problem for you to figure it out.
at least they promoting the usc – hawaii game in 2010.
ok, brake time. schreeeeeeech!!!! Watch out for the tree!!!!
Howzit!
Made it to the post office in time today. Lined seemed long but it moved quickly. Thought Ala Moana would be cleared out by 4pm, but noooooooo…..
Wow, Urban Meyer leaving UF. So who’s the likely candidate to replace him?
Under current state law, the Stadium Authority cannot sell naming rights to the Stadium. if you want that to change, then you must organize yoursleves, hire a lobbyist if you cannot get someone to do it as a volunteer, and work the Legislature just like any other special interest group to change the law. And that does NOT mean buying votes – it means educating & informing legislators why what you want is going to benefit the state.
If you want to privatize Aloha Stadium by selling it, then you will have to deal with four different state agencies – DOE, UH, DAGS & DLNR – plus the US Navy, Air Force and Army. You will also have to deal with the City & County along with several different community associations and at least two, possibly three, major landowners.
I’m not saying that it couldn’t be done, but there are way too many issues that have a much higher priority than selling Aloha Stadium during a bad economy.
The current Governor will only be around for 49 more weeks. Will things get better with the next Governor? Who knows?
Here’s how to find out what their intentions are – start asking these questions at every opportunity – especially when the gubernatorial candidates are speaking. Sponsor an event in which the subjects are UH Athletics and Aloha Stadium and invite the three major candidates.
As for maintenance and repairs, most of them are what could be expected given the age of the Stadium – replace the roof, replace the seats, upgrade the restrooms, etc., etc. The only structural defects are almost all addressed.
The real improvements will come with the Transit-Oriented Development since the Stadium is in a critically-important location. I hope that the Stadium Authority has somebody with the kind of vision needed to address these issues.
IF STATE LAW IS AMENDED TO ALLOW NAMING RIGHTS OF PUBLIC BUILSIND, then here is one very realistic scenario which has been discussed in various places where Big Muckamuckas gather. Assuming the local teabaggers don’t kill the mass transit project altogether, commercial, retail and light industrial TOD will be completed about 2020 and will include at least two parking garages also topped with TOD.
Planning & design for a new 60,000 seat Stadium will begin in about 15 years with construction due to be completed around 2030. The current Stadium will then be torn down, additional parking garages with either condos or business offices above it will be built on the site. Around 2035, everything should be completed.
Some people have argued that a new stadium should be built out in West O`ahu close to the new campus. That does not make sense given the distance from H-2 and H-3. No matter how much West O`ahu grows, at least 75% of the island will NOT be livng and working there. As long as Manoa is the flagship school, the Stadium has to be as close as possible to it.
Is there an appropriate site between the current location and downtown Honolulu. There might be, but I think it’s unrealistic to think that the money would be available anytime soon.
BTW – I cannot get access to current and 2011 budgetary documents until January 4 to identify what’s going to be going on at Aloha Stadium and on campus with respect to CIP projects. Will report back as soon as I can get to the documents and identify wassup.
There are many reasons why students don’t go the games, but one of the most important ones is that tickets and the related costs are not affordable. Don’t forget the the students have voted down every attempt to create a new student fee charge. It won’t happen unless the students say “yes.”
.
Playing on real grass is playing real football…
Nothing like it…smells good, too. And looks kinda
tough when you get grass stuffed in your face mask…
btw, dpk, you can get pecan pie at Don Quiotes on Kaheka st but they were sold out for Christmas eve
and Christmas day…
I hafta confess, I was a long, long time lurker, but
when Stephen Tsai began to offer free football
tickets, well that was it…:>)
I suppose they could always close down another elementary school somewhere and build a Stadium there…
What was the final USC /BC score, anyway? I went to eat.
Ching / First Hawaiian Bank/ Bank of Hawaii Warrior Stadium located in the Lower Campus Quarry or the former Ala Wai Gold Course (whoa, I better duck and cover on that proposed location) :-).
Old School Dave…
Not fair.. that’s like bribery.. anything besides the Stadium food is bribery…
Whoa.. USC threw for 350 yards? But they only got 24 points?
Ah.. forgot .. their star RB wasn’t able to play..
I was google map aloha stadium
i wen google map lower campus.
Walmart can build a stadium there. piecemeal.
with a big store. big parking. plenty room for UH offices. box seats.
connectors to the highway. i dont understand why it hasn’t been built yet.
Look, Mommy and Daddy! At the top of the blog! It’s Santa Claus! 😀
you want 15000 UH students in the stadium? put da stadium in their lap. everybody’ll have to suffer one year. piecemeal is the key.
Hugh Grant had received praise for his judgment of art when he bought an Andy Warhol painting of Elizabeth Taylor for $3.3 million and sold it six years later for $21.5 million…until he mentioned in a recent interview that he was *drunk* when he ordered his assistant to bid on the painting and was horrified to find out that he won the auction!
I think that it is AWESOME that Disney is giving a free ticket to Disneyland or Disney World for people who volunteer for a day at one of the selected charitable organizations next year. This is great because people will be motivated to volunteer, charities will get help they need, and maybe the volunteers will have a great time and will continue to volunteer for the charity.
that beady eye Santa looks familiar
We know the WAC front office changed the distribution amount for schools participating in bowl games; especially, the BCS bowls.
Why does the WAC need the extra $$? Did the WAC distribute a list of what the extra $$ will be used for? Was it the WAC reps, who sit on the “board”, decide the new arrangement?
Does the WAC conference intend to fly Benson and others “first class” to every destination? ditto for all the LOUSY game officials!
Jason, was thinking about how Boyd Gaming had to transport 2,000+ UH fans in Vegas and they still needed 40+ buses. So it looks like we would need 50 buses to make 4 rd trips to bring 10000 students to Aloha. This is a major task and needs to be worked on. 100 buses can bring only 5000+ at one and can you imagine what the freeway would look like. It would be a most impressive sight.
A-House,
The WAC isn’t keeping the BCS money. They capped the payout to the school going to the game at $3 million, which means that the other WAC schools will get a bigger piece of the BCS money than they would have in the old system. This year that change benefits UH and hurts BSU…how many times has the WAC changed a rule that benefits UH and hurts BSU?
computer question: my computer slows down, won’t boot at times:
message: insufficient system resources. How can I enlarge or regain my system resources? I use my computer for online news, facebook, blog, about 6 gb of music loaded, nothing else. My hard drives, internal and external, with 68 gb of memory left.
Ralph…
Right click on your My Computer icon.. select “properties” …what does it say
for Processor and amount of Ram?
i did, where is the “properties” heading. It shows all my drives as icons
found it under files
MIH disc used 31.7 gb, free 20.5, no ram notation. I cleaned my disc, defrag, ran spyware, anti virus, ran error checking- message remain the same over a week, “insufficient system resources”.
Ralph.. just right click on the “My Computer” Icon on your desktop.. on the popup menu.. select properties… on the popup panel, it should show you your Processor speed and Ram.
I’m trying to determine if you have a hardware problem or a software issue.
MIH cpu 1.80 GHz, 1.79 GHz 256 mb of RAM, XP with service pack 3
just buy a new one already.
256 MB of ram sounds wrong… looks like your RAM has come loose.
Unplug your unit. You will need to open up the case…touch the power supply to remove any static in your hands… remove the RAM and reseat them carefully.
Ralph… Where do you live?
RAM is correct, older model computer.
mililani
Wait.. sorry but are you on a laptop?
desktop
Okay.. then it probably is your RAM..
How old is your computer?
might have to support the economy and buy an up grade. what processor is needed to browse webs with video. I was told by best buy that lots of sights have ads and video on their sight and that’s what slows the up load even if I don’t view the video. most of the sights I have have people posting pictures, videos, tinyurls, etc-facebook, warriorbeat, twitter and athletic sites.
I’ve heard of duo quad speed, lots of hd memory and 1 gb or more of RAM
Ralph.. you have enough oomph..for what you do… just need to fix the RAM. If the reseating doesn’t work.. I’m sure I have RAM for your unit that you can have.
Just gotta figure a way to get them to you.
Best buy told me that since my computer is old, the price of the RAM for 1 gb would be about $240. He looked it up on their price list. for that price i better buy a new computer. adding more ram won’t help too much unless the processor speed is increased.
I have dual core .. triple core and quad core computers… my dual core runs as fast as the Quad for 99.9% of my work. And I do a lot of graphics. I also watch a lot of video.
$240? What kind of computer do you have? What brand?
I can bring the computer to you at windward mall, haven’t been to a foreign zone in a long time. lol.
I dunno.. we might be going to the North Shore tomorrow.. lol
email me your phone number.. I’ll call you in the morn..
madeinhawaii(at)hawaii(dot)rr(dot)com
I might have to dig deep in my closet to find 72 pin simms though.
HP pavilion 513n celeron processor. I got it from CompUSA.
ok sending phone via e mail. after the new years is fine. fb is over, not much on the blog. lots of bowl games to watch.
Okay… will research your unit and email you with any other info I might need. But I really think it’s just your RAM that has come unseated. Especially if it was working fine not too long ago.
alrighty.. gotta go nighty night… Night everyone…
Hiya!
“I no more kids, so I don’t care about education anymore.” – sorry I was truly LOL at that…
DPK, get well soon. Prayers heading to Ke Akua for help.
Ralph- go to Costco and send $500 on a new netbook if you have wifi. Seriously. You will love it. I say netbook because they still run Win XPpro and not the new Windows ^&%@.
That’s why I am Mac at home and work now.
Nitey nite and Sweet Redskins over Cowboys Dreams!
Ralph?
btw- you have a very lovely daughter.
Anyone? Anyone?
two hunnert
DPK,
Hope you get better soon!
Just got home from a family get together at my bro’s. Lots of fuud, family, gift exchange fun & a jankenpo game. Talked football & got an earful from my cousin’s husband about what happened in Tampa at the VB tourney. Ho-boy…
Hey, I can pick up watching the BC-USC game from where I left off this afternoon…ah, life…
Night y’all….
take care bro, IV’s are serious stuff…..if it’s bronchial, lots of fluids, sleep in the chair upright so you don’t cough all night……hope you’re feeling better 🙂
up late, or just king of the blog now, haha
ok,
so this is what happens when you drink a mountain dew at 1030 pm, ouch. but all is good, it gave me a chance to do some ironing and cleaning up…..just thinking back of the past year…..so grateful for the memories with this motley crew called the Tsaikos…..funny, our collection of misfits, professionals, celebrities, county/state workers, entrepeneurs, retirees, students, teachers, even attorneys……the common thread, the thread that weaves this fabric together…….the common thread is our love for UH Football, Rainbows or Warriors, it’s still Rainbow Warriors. we love our team, in all times, good and bad, happy and sad, winning or losing…we still love our team.
when the dust settles, and all the kidding is aside……they’re just a bunch of young men playing the game they love……it is the media and fans (like us) who blow things out of proportion…..they’re just living their dream…..that’s all.
sometimes in the heat of a discussion, we’ll forget how young most of these guys are….and i know when i was their age, i didn’t have everything together, no where near the maturity level of most of the players…BUT, they’re still barely out of high school……we gotta remember that.
anyway, just thinking out loud……………and grateful for the memories made and shared, and grateful for the many memories to come…..
GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS…..:)
i’m here too.
regarding an earlier quote about the tardiness in the hiring of the grad asst…it paints a picture of more things to come down the pike perhaps?
just thinking aloud…maybe more coaching changes are in store, therefore, the hire may be predicated by whom is leaving and therefore, at this juncture a quick hire may not be in the best interest of what their needs just might be in the future.
bulla howzit bro.
who would you send to the homes of recruit prospects? what would you say to Hasiak’s parents now, if you know enough to say at all?
just wondering. no rush, think about it. answer me on the email.
gee bulla.
i wonder who thinks aloud louder you or me?
i could hear your gears turning from as far away as upper kapolei.
just read your last post, bulla.
all i gotta say is….. MAN UP.
😆
hasiak…is he still off limits or did ucla give its release already. if it is the former then no one can go to his house yet. besides we still in the dead period.
DPK,
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Take care.
ralph
if you are 256 ram, which i think is the correct memory you have on your model. then, by industry standards you are at least 16x slower than the average 4gb ddr ram. in fact, some are now flying at 8gb.
Wow!
It’s Three French Hen Day and look all da elves who no mo’ nuttin’ fo’ do but hang out on the blog! 😆
al,
Interesting point about the GA hire.
dpk…ever the show man still did his now annual santa claus thing for some senior folks. this time he brought along mrs. santa as well.
he is a natural born santa claus.
i heard stutz1 was at the coaches convention or is going to the coaches convention. that’s one way to get his name out there. i hope him the best.
also, heard the rumblings at kalaepohaku about to be a public issue soon. interesting the names flying around.
i’m hanging out because I love my country and I’m looking for signs of
al quaida. i’m worried fo ralph’s computah.
I think the plan is to head up there soon, unless…..
bhf2
dead period, however by NCAA rules phone communication can take place. however, in Hasiak’s case, i think he will still need an authorization ‘letter of communication’ from the AD, signed on their letterhead allowing contact to be made.
NCAA is very, very strict…especially in cases involving student athletes. getting that letter is a challenge, because it is the signal that a process is in place, and gives leeway for a transfer
al
kalaepohaku is rolling stones down the hill……..interesting when it all comes out….
this mountain dew is killing me…..wired, ironed 4 shirts, did some laundry, i got the dog all confused, haha
bhf2
regarding communication etc., there probably needs to be a ‘chain of communication’, sort of like an organizational chart on a wall……everyone has an assignment and is accountable to the person above them. it’s not about who’s the boss and all that inner office bickering, but moreso, this eliminates confusion, missed contacts, missed appointments.
you run it like a marketing company with lead sheets and someone controls the ‘master files’ that records everything…i am talking out loud, they probably have this in place already.
they could use a program such as ‘ACT’ that they could input everything, keep track of contacts, and automatically schedule follow up calls/emails through the system…..just a thought
it’s a process, it’s not rocket science, just the hoops that they have to go through, and they should not make it more difficult that it has to be.
just my 2 sense
Like it was stated in an earlier comment, probably things moving a little slow at a lot of schools this week and next.
thanks for the wise words
i was responding to your earlier post, then just deleted the stuffs. no like make waves. gotta give the young guy some slack, so he knows we mean him well no matter his choices.
Good luck to you, Hasiak.
bulla, i’m gonna say good nite and sweet warrior dreams. take care bro.
Hiya, guys!
Up late, but fading fast.
You’re right, Bulla. The young men playing at UH are just that, young men, recently out of high school. We just have to support them and hope that the coaching staff does the right thing for them.
K, gotta go fall over into something soft. Laters.
I’m gonna call it a night, too.
Oyasumina-tsai….
bulla…you think i could bring some shirts over for you to iron?
it would be odd to call it day…its sorta dark outside right now.
well. all righty then.
good night you all.
al
in the time i iron one of mine, i could do about 3 or 4 of yours, haha
g’night d1, hope to see you before next year
al
i am signing off also…..got 1st service in the morning, and getting commissioned tomorrow night 🙂 Praise Him in all we do
Everyone needs 4 somethings in their lives…
that was from Coach Lou Holtz……
gnight my friends.
just back from listening to Sissel Kyrkjebo on youtube.
Al I thought the processor was the speed demon, the ram is the ignition to start. Maybe the ram capacity is needed to load up all the junk software, plug ins, and add on that I don’t want but its there built in the computer software base.
ralph….go check best buy’s ad for sunday.
you could get something with 300 plus gb/8gb ram with a hiflying processor for about 600 bucks.
anyway, i think yours is like 7 years old already.
okay, time to hit it.
i’m surprised that the Kapolei LBs didn’t earn top three teams for All State. More surprisingly, I don’t see the names of UH recruits on the offense or defense side of the ball on all three teams. I read somewhere that they were hoping UH recruit Shaydon Akuna and Dustin Elisara out of Kapolei.
The HA also posted their All State team for ’09. Few of the names with UH commits that I saw were Anguay, Tuaau, and Fonokafi (sp). Quines is another. There must be others I’m to lazy to look up-sportsbow keeps a good account of UH recruits, maybe Stephen can post a list of UH commits again.
mountain dew kept Bulla up to 1 am, i drank 4 cokes and I am still wide awake. lol. but its Sunday morning, i’m sleeping later on while Bulla is preaching.
Bulla ~ No tickee, no laundry? Auwe!
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Be healthy and happy, everyone.
” Brennan is determined, however, to salvage something from his season on the sideline: confidence in facing adversity.
He recalls the interception he threw against the New England Patriots in the preseason that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown. He responded by throwing a touchdown pass later in that game and by completing 10 of 14 passes against Jacksonville in the following game.
Brennan pulled his stats from the Jacksonville game off the top of his head.
“That’s what you have to show as a quarterback, that you can bounce back from something negative,” he said. “I really thought in the worst time, I really rose up and did some good things to solidify myself and make them say, ‘Hey, let’s not give up on this dude yet.'”
Brennan is eager to build on that, and he’ll take a significant step in that direction this week.
He expects Dr. Philippon to clear him to resume football activities. With the help of his agent, he plans to hire a personal trainer to get him back into top shape in time for the start of offseason workouts in March.
There likely will be a new coach by then. The roster could be drastically overhauled.
For now, Brennan will wait with the rest of his teammates to see how Allen steers the club.
“If we do go a different direction and changes are made, all I can hope is that whoever people are brought in like me,” Brennan said. “Hopefully they respect what I’ve done and hopefully see potential in me.”
good morning Tsaikos, (from your mountain dew drinking friend)
i should know better, haha. hope everyone has a restful day, before you know it, 2009 is gone and 2010 will be here.
where did it all go? may 2010 be filled with happiness and joy for all, and may all your goals be met…… and remember:
Everyone needs 4 somethings in their lives…
Something to do (cheer for the Warriors)
Something to love (UH Football)
Something to hope for (Bowl game)
Something to believe in (Warriors)
what an easy list………………GO WARRIORS
Good morning Tsaikos.
most tsaikos must be having post Christmas shopping hangover.
Congratulations to all that made the All State team and to those who played the game.
After looking at Garret’s post, Warrior fb is beginning to look like a log jam. That is a lot of talent and am sure there are still more to add.
d1, wake up, but you no need go to work this am.
sheeesh, that was a climb to #250
I still feel that if Mike Shanahan is brought in to coach the Redskins, he at least is smart enough to take a good long look at Colt & realize what he has right in the cupboard. Not sure exactly what he will do with Campbell (if it’s his call rather than Allen’s) & Collins? One expert recommended slapping the franchise label on Campbell-sounds stupid to me, though. Same guy said they’d get rid of Colt because Zorn is leaving-also fuzzy logic to me.
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
Good mornin’, good mornin’ to you.
Kope & football…good way to slowly start Sunday morning.
HAPPY BERFDAY, LEFTY!!!
I hope our Warriors watched the USC vs BC game and came away thinking that they could beat USC next season if they worked hard this off season. USC looked vulnerable and beatable. Our team has to come together early and be ready before the season starts.
how to fix my credit…
So many different ideas listed here – amazing…..
This brings me to an idea:…
I have a mom purchased a brand new one for my house. However I am having some trouble and I need a little help.
Unlike many posts on the internet, this was fun to read and gave me some valuable input. I will have to put a backlink on my website. Regards. J
