“Quez” to return

Remember Marquez Jackson?

He said he is registered for the spring semester and hopeful of competing with the Warriors. Jackson originally enrolled at UH as a slotback. He then left to play for the Rainbow Warrior basketball team. And then he left UH.

Jackson said he is focused solely on football.

* * * * *

With the Hula Bowl dead and the Pro Bowl on hiatus, there won’t be another football game in Hawaii until Sept. 2. Now you wished you attended that UH-New Mexico State game.

    Where is everybody?

    Good Morning!

  2. locomoco December 26, 2009 9:03 am

That “another football game in Hawaii” in September is against USC. With an almost new O-Line for the Warriors.

Hope the coaching staff doesn’t try to feed us too much hype this year.

  3. Stephen Tsai December 26, 2009 9:08 am

The development of the offensive line should be interesting in spring practice.

  6. whitey December 26, 2009 9:14 am

The O line should be very good this yr and I think they may outperform this yr’s line with the exception of the center. The cupboard is not bare and there are some studs there now and incoming.

  8. whitey December 26, 2009 9:17 am

but I look forward to the spring competition for the qb’s job. this yr the qb will be working with a much taller oline, so height may make a difference.

  42. Garret December 26, 2009 12:37 pm

I’m curious as to how much eligibility Marquez Jackson has left. It would seem that his eligibility clock would have started when he originally joined the UH football team and he hasn’t had an event that would have stopped his clock. With the long break from football and with the depth that UH has at the receiver position next season, he has a hard battle to move up the depth chart.

On the bright side for him, UH loses a lot of receivers after next season and there could be playing time available for a receiver who understood the system then. I wish him well in his attempt to join the Warriors. The amount of eligibility he has left is a big factor in his chances to earn playing time.

  43. Garret December 26, 2009 12:42 pm

    Kazz,

Don’t rule out stupidity when the state is looking around at what they can do to cut expenses. There are some huge cuts coming to UH, so the budget deficit for the Athletic Department worries me. The good news is that it would be political suicide to try to go after sports at UH. But politicians have done stupid stuff before…

However, it appears that they already cut funding for high school sports and without Amemiya’s big fundraising job there would be big cuts in high school sports. With Amemiya not at that position anymore, the new person will have to be just as good of a fundraiser or some high school sports *will* be cut. After that, the number crunchers will start looking at UH Athletics…

  44. Garret December 26, 2009 12:46 pm

I don’t think that UH Athletics is in any danger for the next 3 years at least. However, there may be a *huge* conference shuffle in 3 years or so, and many of the schools left out in the realignment will probably end up eventually cutting football. Due to travel costs, I do not think that UH could afford a D-I Athletic program without football.

So it is very, very important that UH football and men’s basketball be in good shape within the next 3 years. Those are the only important sports to a conference since they are the money makers and the way that conferences get respect.

Urban Meyer shoud just relax, kick back, get some sun and surf and come to Hawaii to apply as head football coach at University of Hawaii. It would be a no stress job for him and good for him and his health. Better yet, his kids can get a first rate education at Punahou (assuming they are not in college).

  74. Garret December 26, 2009 3:31 pm

I was looking up costs for a new stadium in Hawaii and didn’t realize that SMU’s stadium cost just $42 million! For that they got 32,000 seats (can be expanded to 45,000 quite simply) with about 600 preferred club level seats and 240 seats in 24 luxury boxes ($$$). The stadium was completed in 2000, so costs would be higher now, but still much less than the numbers I had seen estimated for a new stadium in Hawaii.

  75. Da Punchbowl Kid December 26, 2009 3:36 pm

After seeing SMU’s three horseys on the field, KB is checking the NCAA rules to see if it would be okay to have three horseys on the field for Boise. All of those horseys would be “Boise Turf Blue”of course.

  76. Da Punchbowl Kid December 26, 2009 3:39 pm

  77. Da Punchbowl Kid December 26, 2009 3:41 pm

    Garret-
Weren’t the local estimates for a new stadium upwards of $300 million?

  78. madeinhawaii December 26, 2009 3:44 pm

DPK.. I think 300 million was for the maintenance and repair necessary to keep the current Stadium for the next 20 years.

  79. chawan_cut December 26, 2009 3:44 pm

too much stress at the florida position. just like ND and bama. i bet he also didn’t want to deal with a year without his golden boy tebow. meyer ran away to florida after he led utah to their first bcs and undefeated season. i bet utah fans know what the florida fans are feeling right now. that was also alex smith’s final season too.
coaches always have the coaching itch. he won’t stay out for long.

  80. Garret December 26, 2009 3:45 pm

    DPK,

I think that the estimates for maintenance for Aloha Stadium have been reported as high as $100 million and the estimate for a new stadium has been put at $200 million to $300 million.

  81. chawan_cut December 26, 2009 3:45 pm

we should also all be watching the Emerald bowl right now. its good preparation for our first game of the season next year. most of those USC guys will be back.
14-7 USC right now in the 2nd.

  82. chawan_cut December 26, 2009 3:46 pm

spoke too soon. its 14-6. BC misses the XP.

  83. Garret December 26, 2009 3:48 pm

    madeinhawaii,

$300 million for maintenance? Will the state actually come up with that money? They already are forcing the Stadium Authority and/or UH to fundraise to replace the turf, and that is a health issue.

I’d hate for the maintenance to fall so far behind that the stadium has to be closed for repairs after a bad incident. UH is already years behind of its maintenance and WassupDoc already reported how the second stage of the maintenance repairs for Aloha Stadium may get pushed from a 2012 completion to a 2014 completion.

  84. Da Punchbowl Kid December 26, 2009 3:53 pm

Hey Garret, howzit MIH! How was your Christmases?

How much does the state have allotted for ongoing repair at this point?

    The differences in stadium costs:

Lots of illegal aliens + lots of rich alums = lower costs for a stadium.

Hawai’ian time + kickbacks + lack of quality control = tremendous cost overruns for half of what was planned.

I doubt that the State will make a decision on the stadium until it’s really too late and the Stadium can no longer be brought up to safety standards under a reasonable budget… like all things under the State…

I mean look at the schools… they need 250-300 million just to catch up with overdue repairs.. and the University of Hawaii estimates their needs to be what was it? A billion in 10 years or so? Yikes! Most of that gets inflated because the State fails to maintain existing properties on a timely basis.

It’s like a small hole in a damn.. leave it alone and you’re asking for trouble.

Same thing with JJ’s situation in 2007… sit on it.. wait till the last minute… maybe it won’t be a shuffling of the Majors in football that closes down Warrior football.. maybe it’ll simply be ineptitude on the part of our Governor, State legislature and senate.

    HiFlyer,

We should ask Walmart to design and oversee the construction of a new Stadium. They’ll probably get it built under budget and before the deadline, just like their Keeaumoku store. To think they managed that with the striking cement workers.

And all the concern about traffic.. I swear, traffic flows better there than when there was no Walmart.

  97. I Love Pecan Pie December 26, 2009 4:53 pm

    Hmmmm…
    Walmart…or Cosco…or Don Quixote…
    No need a “public” stadium…
and no need a stadium “authority”…
They could have a store on first level all around…
And even make it a mile high with condo’s above
the execute sweets and press boxes…
It could be a money maker…
But location of Ala Wai golf course would not work…
Too many smashed windshields from errant golf balls…Gotta put it somewhere else…

  99. whitey December 26, 2009 4:56 pm

wonder how much it would cost to buy the old stadium site and turn it over to UH for the purpose of expanding their athletic facilities.

  100. whitey December 26, 2009 5:02 pm

since getting a new stadium is not in the near future, how can we get more students going to their home game at Aloha???? I think if someone would work with the bus company for game day trans, UH to Halawa to UH, it could be done. Cost would be free to nominal for the students. Be great to see at least 10-15000 students at each home game.

“Same thing with JJ’s situation in 2007… sit on it.. wait till the last minute… maybe it won’t be a shuffling of the Majors in football that closes down Warrior football.. maybe it’ll simply be ineptitude on the part of our Governor, State legislature and senate.”

  105. Garret December 26, 2009 5:07 pm

Hey Garret, howzit MIH! How was your Christmases?

How much does the state have allotted for ongoing repair at this point?

    DPK,

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, but I was offline for dinner. Christmas was very nice with two friends over at our home for dinner (lau lau, lomi salmon, etc.) and with my girls having fun and being good all day. We also had my sister-in-law at our home for 4 days and she left on Christmas night…I would love to say more about that but my parents read this blog and my wife might read this also.

  106. HiFlyer December 26, 2009 5:08 pm

For those of you that are watching the USC – BC game, it seems that the refs and even the replay officiating is biased toward USC.

  107. whitey December 26, 2009 5:08 pm

pecanpie’s idea of putting offices, etc at Aloha is an excellent idea. if you look at most of the stadium being built today, all have that concept and premium boxes.

  108. Garret December 26, 2009 5:09 pm

    whitey,

I think that UH offered free bus service to Aloha Stadium for UH students for several Warrior games and I do not think it increased student attendance much. The best student turnout seemed to be that late basketball game where the students could attend for free. If the students paid an Athletic Fee and could go to all UH sporting events for free, then maybe the student turnout would be much better.

  109. whitey December 26, 2009 5:12 pm

They could have a licensed driving school there, so students would not have to expose themselves to undue stress while learning how to drive.

  110. A-House December 26, 2009 5:15 pm

As far as KB is concerned, I will continue to state my negative opinions until HE does things that convinces me that his decisions are for the betterment of the WAC; not Boise State!

No waha, total transparency in all scheduling games, getting Fresno State to delete the “gauntlet” before some one gets hurt and sues the WAC, KB, Fresno St and its President/athletic director/football coach for lack of “oversight”, get rid of blue turf, etc, etc, etc.

  111. whitey December 26, 2009 5:18 pm

Garret, yes, i think they did, but it has to be an organized thing where students know exactly what time the bus will be there and where to board the buses after the game. Like you said, build it in the student activity fees at a very nominal fee. Pickup could be at various dorm and campus spots and return would be at the same spot. We need to get the studnets to attend the game, so when they grad from UH, these will be our future support group for UH. We need to make them feel that UH has been a very good place to attend school and in the future they will be thinking of their time at UH as a most pleasant one. Going to athletic games is a great boost.

  112. Garret December 26, 2009 5:25 pm

    Garret-
I missed da laulaus at my Uncle’s house yesterday because I was too sick to go. 🙁 Sounds like you folks had an awesome Christmas!

  116. whitey December 26, 2009 5:33 pm

I really don’t understand why the WAC office cannot make the fb schedule at least 4 yrs in advance. True, tv may want certain games, but you wheel and deal when you come to that hurdle. WAC schools can then schedule opponents to upgrade the WAC image. How can you do that when all the other major schools are scheduling non conference games 4 yrs or more in advance and the WAC is left behind?????

  117. I Love Pecan Pie December 26, 2009 5:36 pm

  124. Jason December 26, 2009 5:53 pm

whitey: The UH-Mānoa Chancellor’s Office has paid for bus service for the past couple of years. It’s always the same, x many hours before kickoff (I think two?) from the same location (I think at Dole St and East-West Rd). I never used it, so I’m not sure of the details.

I’m more curious to see the usage statistics for that bus service. I know in the past, UH has had to get MORE buses because those they already had filled up. But as the team struggled, I wonder if those buses were still full.

  127. Ralph December 26, 2009 5:57 pm

HiFlyer rationale is closer to the truth. Union labor raises the cost tremendously, and it contributes to our high cost of living. Currently, the Aloha Stadium repair is being completed by mainland workers who are non union and it is costing us less. The Union hierarchy placed a tv ad asking the State to hire local, union labor. Bunch of BS.

Wafan, a lot of Mexicans are now looking for you because you dissed them.

Dallas isn’t cheap, the college is located in an up scale neighborhood. The non union contractors were productive to keep the cost down, finished on time. No issues.

Wow, Urban Meyer leaving UF. So who’s the likely candidate to replace him?

  141. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc December 26, 2009 6:26 pm

Under current state law, the Stadium Authority cannot sell naming rights to the Stadium. if you want that to change, then you must organize yoursleves, hire a lobbyist if you cannot get someone to do it as a volunteer, and work the Legislature just like any other special interest group to change the law. And that does NOT mean buying votes – it means educating & informing legislators why what you want is going to benefit the state.

If you want to privatize Aloha Stadium by selling it, then you will have to deal with four different state agencies – DOE, UH, DAGS & DLNR – plus the US Navy, Air Force and Army. You will also have to deal with the City & County along with several different community associations and at least two, possibly three, major landowners.

I’m not saying that it couldn’t be done, but there are way too many issues that have a much higher priority than selling Aloha Stadium during a bad economy.

The current Governor will only be around for 49 more weeks. Will things get better with the next Governor? Who knows?

Here’s how to find out what their intentions are – start asking these questions at every opportunity – especially when the gubernatorial candidates are speaking. Sponsor an event in which the subjects are UH Athletics and Aloha Stadium and invite the three major candidates.

As for maintenance and repairs, most of them are what could be expected given the age of the Stadium – replace the roof, replace the seats, upgrade the restrooms, etc., etc. The only structural defects are almost all addressed.

The real improvements will come with the Transit-Oriented Development since the Stadium is in a critically-important location. I hope that the Stadium Authority has somebody with the kind of vision needed to address these issues.

IF STATE LAW IS AMENDED TO ALLOW NAMING RIGHTS OF PUBLIC BUILSIND, then here is one very realistic scenario which has been discussed in various places where Big Muckamuckas gather. Assuming the local teabaggers don’t kill the mass transit project altogether, commercial, retail and light industrial TOD will be completed about 2020 and will include at least two parking garages also topped with TOD.

Planning & design for a new 60,000 seat Stadium will begin in about 15 years with construction due to be completed around 2030. The current Stadium will then be torn down, additional parking garages with either condos or business offices above it will be built on the site. Around 2035, everything should be completed.

Some people have argued that a new stadium should be built out in West O`ahu close to the new campus. That does not make sense given the distance from H-2 and H-3. No matter how much West O`ahu grows, at least 75% of the island will NOT be livng and working there. As long as Manoa is the flagship school, the Stadium has to be as close as possible to it.

Is there an appropriate site between the current location and downtown Honolulu. There might be, but I think it’s unrealistic to think that the money would be available anytime soon.

BTW – I cannot get access to current and 2011 budgetary documents until January 4 to identify what’s going to be going on at Aloha Stadium and on campus with respect to CIP projects. Will report back as soon as I can get to the documents and identify wassup.

There are many reasons why students don’t go the games, but one of the most important ones is that tickets and the related costs are not affordable. Don’t forget the the students have voted down every attempt to create a new student fee charge. It won’t happen unless the students say “yes.”
    .

We know the WAC front office changed the distribution amount for schools participating in bowl games; especially, the BCS bowls.

Why does the WAC need the extra $$? Did the WAC distribute a list of what the extra $$ will be used for? Was it the WAC reps, who sit on the “board”, decide the new arrangement?

Does the WAC conference intend to fly Benson and others “first class” to every destination? ditto for all the LOUSY game officials!

  162. whitey December 26, 2009 9:09 pm

Jason, was thinking about how Boyd Gaming had to transport 2,000+ UH fans in Vegas and they still needed 40+ buses. So it looks like we would need 50 buses to make 4 rd trips to bring 10000 students to Aloha. This is a major task and needs to be worked on. 100 buses can bring only 5000+ at one and can you imagine what the freeway would look like. It would be a most impressive sight.

  163. Garret December 26, 2009 9:17 pm

    A-House,

The WAC isn’t keeping the BCS money. They capped the payout to the school going to the game at $3 million, which means that the other WAC schools will get a bigger piece of the BCS money than they would have in the old system. This year that change benefits UH and hurts BSU…how many times has the WAC changed a rule that benefits UH and hurts BSU?

might have to support the economy and buy an up grade. what processor is needed to browse webs with video. I was told by best buy that lots of sights have ads and video on their sight and that’s what slows the up load even if I don’t view the video. most of the sights I have have people posting pictures, videos, tinyurls, etc-facebook, warriorbeat, twitter and athletic sites.
I’ve heard of duo quad speed, lots of hd memory and 1 gb or more of RAM

  182. madeinhawaii December 26, 2009 11:00 pm

Ralph.. you have enough oomph..for what you do… just need to fix the RAM. If the reseating doesn’t work.. I’m sure I have RAM for your unit that you can have.
Just gotta figure a way to get them to you.

  183. Ralph December 26, 2009 11:01 pm

Best buy told me that since my computer is old, the price of the RAM for 1 gb would be about $240. He looked it up on their price list. for that price i better buy a new computer. adding more ram won’t help too much unless the processor speed is increased.

Okay… will research your unit and email you with any other info I might need. But I really think it’s just your RAM that has come unseated. Especially if it was working fine not too long ago.

up late, or just king of the blog now, haha

  204. Bulla December 27, 2009 12:44 am

    ok,
so this is what happens when you drink a mountain dew at 1030 pm, ouch. but all is good, it gave me a chance to do some ironing and cleaning up…..just thinking back of the past year…..so grateful for the memories with this motley crew called the Tsaikos…..funny, our collection of misfits, professionals, celebrities, county/state workers, entrepeneurs, retirees, students, teachers, even attorneys……the common thread, the thread that weaves this fabric together…….the common thread is our love for UH Football, Rainbows or Warriors, it’s still Rainbow Warriors. we love our team, in all times, good and bad, happy and sad, winning or losing…we still love our team.

when the dust settles, and all the kidding is aside……they’re just a bunch of young men playing the game they love……it is the media and fans (like us) who blow things out of proportion…..they’re just living their dream…..that’s all.

sometimes in the heat of a discussion, we’ll forget how young most of these guys are….and i know when i was their age, i didn’t have everything together, no where near the maturity level of most of the players…BUT, they’re still barely out of high school……we gotta remember that.

anyway, just thinking out loud……………and grateful for the memories made and shared, and grateful for the many memories to come…..

GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS…..:)

  205. al December 27, 2009 12:44 am

    i’m here too.

regarding an earlier quote about the tardiness in the hiring of the grad asst…it paints a picture of more things to come down the pike perhaps?

just thinking aloud…maybe more coaching changes are in store, therefore, the hire may be predicated by whom is leaving and therefore, at this juncture a quick hire may not be in the best interest of what their needs just might be in the future.

  206. bighilofan2 December 27, 2009 12:49 am

    bulla howzit bro.

who would you send to the homes of recruit prospects? what would you say to Hasiak’s parents now, if you know enough to say at all?

just wondering. no rush, think about it. answer me on the email.

  207. al December 27, 2009 12:51 am

    gee bulla.
i wonder who thinks aloud louder you or me?
i could hear your gears turning from as far away as upper kapolei.

  208. bighilofan2 December 27, 2009 12:53 am

just read your last post, bulla.

all i gotta say is….. MAN UP.

    😆

  209. al December 27, 2009 12:53 am

hasiak…is he still off limits or did ucla give its release already. if it is the former then no one can go to his house yet. besides we still in the dead period.

  210. d1島 December 27, 2009 12:56 am

    DPK,

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Take care.

  211. al December 27, 2009 12:57 am

    ralph

if you are 256 ram, which i think is the correct memory you have on your model. then, by industry standards you are at least 16x slower than the average 4gb ddr ram. in fact, some are now flying at 8gb.

  212. d1島 December 27, 2009 12:58 am

    Wow!
It’s Three French Hen Day and look all da elves who no mo’ nuttin’ fo’ do but hang out on the blog! 😆

  213. d1島 December 27, 2009 12:58 am

Interesting point about the GA hire.

  214. al December 27, 2009 12:59 am

he is a natural born santa claus.

  215. al December 27, 2009 1:01 am

i heard stutz1 was at the coaches convention or is going to the coaches convention. that’s one way to get his name out there. i hope him the best.

also, heard the rumblings at kalaepohaku about to be a public issue soon. interesting the names flying around.

  216. bighilofan2 December 27, 2009 1:02 am

i’m hanging out because I love my country and I’m looking for signs of
al quaida. i’m worried fo ralph’s computah.

  217. d1島 December 27, 2009 1:03 am

I think the plan is to head up there soon, unless…..

  218. Bulla December 27, 2009 1:03 am

    bhf2

dead period, however by NCAA rules phone communication can take place. however, in Hasiak’s case, i think he will still need an authorization ‘letter of communication’ from the AD, signed on their letterhead allowing contact to be made.

NCAA is very, very strict…especially in cases involving student athletes. getting that letter is a challenge, because it is the signal that a process is in place, and gives leeway for a transfer

  219. Bulla December 27, 2009 1:04 am

    al

kalaepohaku is rolling stones down the hill……..interesting when it all comes out….

  220. Bulla December 27, 2009 1:05 am

this mountain dew is killing me…..wired, ironed 4 shirts, did some laundry, i got the dog all confused, haha

  221. Bulla December 27, 2009 1:09 am

    bhf2

regarding communication etc., there probably needs to be a ‘chain of communication’, sort of like an organizational chart on a wall……everyone has an assignment and is accountable to the person above them. it’s not about who’s the boss and all that inner office bickering, but moreso, this eliminates confusion, missed contacts, missed appointments.

you run it like a marketing company with lead sheets and someone controls the ‘master files’ that records everything…i am talking out loud, they probably have this in place already.

they could use a program such as ‘ACT’ that they could input everything, keep track of contacts, and automatically schedule follow up calls/emails through the system…..just a thought

it’s a process, it’s not rocket science, just the hoops that they have to go through, and they should not make it more difficult that it has to be.

    just my 2 sense

  222. d1島 December 27, 2009 1:13 am

Like it was stated in an earlier comment, probably things moving a little slow at a lot of schools this week and next.

  223. bighilofan2 December 27, 2009 1:15 am

    thanks for the wise words

i was responding to your earlier post, then just deleted the stuffs. no like make waves. gotta give the young guy some slack, so he knows we mean him well no matter his choices.

    Good luck to you, Hasiak.

  224. bighilofan2 December 27, 2009 1:16 am

bulla, i’m gonna say good nite and sweet warrior dreams. take care bro.

  225. Slugger December 27, 2009 1:20 am

    Hiya, guys!

    Up late, but fading fast.

You’re right, Bulla. The young men playing at UH are just that, young men, recently out of high school. We just have to support them and hope that the coaching staff does the right thing for them.

K, gotta go fall over into something soft. Laters.

  226. d1島 December 27, 2009 1:20 am

I’m gonna call it a night, too.

    Oyasumina-tsai….

  227. al December 27, 2009 1:21 am

bulla…you think i could bring some shirts over for you to iron?

  228. al December 27, 2009 1:22 am

it would be odd to call it day…its sorta dark outside right now.

  229. al December 27, 2009 1:23 am

    well. all righty then.
    good night you all.

  230. Bulla December 27, 2009 1:25 am

    al

in the time i iron one of mine, i could do about 3 or 4 of yours, haha

g’night d1, hope to see you before next year

    al

i am signing off also…..got 1st service in the morning, and getting commissioned tomorrow night 🙂 Praise Him in all we do

that was from Coach Lou Holtz……

    gnight my friends.

  231. Ralph December 27, 2009 1:31 am

just back from listening to Sissel Kyrkjebo on youtube.

Al I thought the processor was the speed demon, the ram is the ignition to start. Maybe the ram capacity is needed to load up all the junk software, plug ins, and add on that I don’t want but its there built in the computer software base.

  232. al December 27, 2009 1:35 am

ralph….go check best buy’s ad for sunday.

you could get something with 300 plus gb/8gb ram with a hiflying processor for about 600 bucks.

anyway, i think yours is like 7 years old already.

  233. al December 27, 2009 1:36 am

    okay, time to hit it.

  234. Ralph December 27, 2009 1:45 am

i’m surprised that the Kapolei LBs didn’t earn top three teams for All State. More surprisingly, I don’t see the names of UH recruits on the offense or defense side of the ball on all three teams. I read somewhere that they were hoping UH recruit Shaydon Akuna and Dustin Elisara out of Kapolei.

  235. Ralph December 27, 2009 4:09 am

The HA also posted their All State team for ’09. Few of the names with UH commits that I saw were Anguay, Tuaau, and Fonokafi (sp). Quines is another. There must be others I’m to lazy to look up-sportsbow keeps a good account of UH recruits, maybe Stephen can post a list of UH commits again.

  236. Ralph December 27, 2009 4:12 am

mountain dew kept Bulla up to 1 am, i drank 4 cokes and I am still wide awake. lol. but its Sunday morning, i’m sleeping later on while Bulla is preaching.

Talk about personal humility and challenges in football.

    http://tinyurl.com/yh3qopa

” Brennan is determined, however, to salvage something from his season on the sideline: confidence in facing adversity.

He recalls the interception he threw against the New England Patriots in the preseason that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown. He responded by throwing a touchdown pass later in that game and by completing 10 of 14 passes against Jacksonville in the following game.

Brennan pulled his stats from the Jacksonville game off the top of his head.

“That’s what you have to show as a quarterback, that you can bounce back from something negative,” he said. “I really thought in the worst time, I really rose up and did some good things to solidify myself and make them say, ‘Hey, let’s not give up on this dude yet.'”

Brennan is eager to build on that, and he’ll take a significant step in that direction this week.

He expects Dr. Philippon to clear him to resume football activities. With the help of his agent, he plans to hire a personal trainer to get him back into top shape in time for the start of offseason workouts in March.

There likely will be a new coach by then. The roster could be drastically overhauled.

For now, Brennan will wait with the rest of his teammates to see how Allen steers the club.

“If we do go a different direction and changes are made, all I can hope is that whoever people are brought in like me,” Brennan said. “Hopefully they respect what I’ve done and hopefully see potential in me.”

  241. Bulla December 27, 2009 6:37 am

good morning Tsaikos, (from your mountain dew drinking friend)

i should know better, haha. hope everyone has a restful day, before you know it, 2009 is gone and 2010 will be here.

where did it all go? may 2010 be filled with happiness and joy for all, and may all your goals be met…… and remember:

Everyone needs 4 somethings in their lives…

Something to do (cheer for the Warriors)
    Something to love (UH Football)
Something to hope for (Bowl game)

    what an easy list………………GO WARRIORS

d1, wake up, but you no need go to work this am.

sheeesh, that was a climb to #250

  248. protector December 27, 2009 8:00 am

I still feel that if Mike Shanahan is brought in to coach the Redskins, he at least is smart enough to take a good long look at Colt & realize what he has right in the cupboard. Not sure exactly what he will do with Campbell (if it’s his call rather than Allen’s) & Collins? One expert recommended slapping the franchise label on Campbell-sounds stupid to me, though. Same guy said they’d get rid of Colt because Zorn is leaving-also fuzzy logic to me.
