Former UH offensive lineman Aaron Kia (Mililani High, 2005) has been invited to participate in a tryout with the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.
Kia will go through the same workouts as the other free agents. If successful, he hopes to land a free-agent contract.

Mahalo, Chawan!
Braddah you still working hard hea even when you abroad. Awesome!
Holy moly! top 10? Good morning to all the Tsaikos when you wake up!!!
There must be a time discrepancy between the posting time and Texas time…. seems to be off about 30 minutes or so…. 7:37 am right now
Looks like 22 minutes
Sorry for the curiosity ramblings. Barbara and I are with the Tsaikos even though we are miles away…… Love to all!!!

Hi midnight and Barbara!
20?
Alojah Kakahiakaz…
Au’ryte David Graves today, sound good!
Good Luck to Bruddah Blaze, hopefully he can land on the Bears and be with Pisa…
David,
How do you decide when to run and when you should stick in the pocket a second longer to give the receivers more time to get open? Do the coaches want you to wait a certain number of seconds or do you go through your first 3 or 4 reads before taking off?
ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs,
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball!
midnight,
howdy….from Marshall, Texas…….where you situated???
midnight,

Good luck to Blaze.
ST – When does the team leave for NorCal? Tomorrow?
Yep. Volleyball team leaves tomorrow.
Mahalo Stephen for the MVB tickets. What a great match!
Good Morning Tsai-kos!
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball.

OLDIE: You’re terrific! Big sale on TDKs at Office Depot!
Good morning Hawaii!
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball.
Saturday’s Bowsball game is actually a double-header starting at 3:05 with the Softbows double-header starting at 4 pm. You can go to both – just remember to get your hand stamped when you leave The Les.
Senior night for the Wahine will probably start around 8 pm at the conclusion of the second game and last about half an hour. The men’s second game will probably end around 10 pm.
Just guessing, of course, but as stated elsewhere, the average men’s game is about 3 hours and ten minutes long with a 30-minute break while the women’s games are about about 1 hour 45 minutes long with a 20-minute break.
I’m excited about the two basketball prospects that visited over the weekend. A 6’8″ forward who can handle the ball and shoot the 3 w/ 40% accuracy and rebounds 8+ per game. That’s pretty impressive. From what I read he has 3 years to play 3. PG Bobby Miles looks like a keeper too. I read about him on Google and he’s a team player. Good grades and already qualified ACT and SAT also. Did his name change?
I thought he was Bobby Miles-Serrano. He wasn’t on a very good team because a couple of players got ACL knee problems and a very good player transferred. These 2 recruits look like they would fit him with what Gib Arnold wants to do and that run the floor and show great versatility.
I hope they pull the trigger and choose UH. Good luck!
Great Morning All!
Glad to see the Warrior Beat is still here…
Derek,
I’m with you on these two recruits. I am hoping that if we get Miles Serrano that his childhood friend Guerrero (who is highly touted) comes for the 2011 season. For that alone he might be a good get.
I really like Brumfield. Versatile 6’8″ that can do a lot of things. He would be a great addition.
I wonder if Gib is looking at Malachi Roberts. He’s a nice prospect from the Pacific Northwest area.
Was passing by Manoa on Saturday afternoon and decided to catch our football Warriors at practice.
I hope what I say doesn’t come across the wrong way. But I was very, very, disappointed in our defensive players. I believe that when you bring up your kids that they should be taught to be kind, generous, and hospitable, young adults. Our defensive football players possess none of these traits. I would have thought better of our young men, but I don’t think our coaches are teaching them anything about proper behavior, and manners. The defensive players as a whole are ornery, nasty, mean, son of a guns, with a bad attitude. They hit anything that moves, they don’t allow the offense to get into any kind of rythym, and they appear to tackle you to hurt you. I totally disappove of this type of behavior. I am going to make a phone call to the head coach of the University of Hawaii football team to tell him to get his act together and learn to control those defensive guys. This type of attitude and behavior should not be condoned in a University setting.
Good morning, David and welcome to the Hawaii Beat and thank you for choosing to pay for the Warriors.
In your opinion, what do you bring to the run ‘n shoot offense?
Good Morning Gangeez! š š š š
Best of luck to all the Warriors NFL hopefuls. Somebody needs to give Kia a look also!
Ya just can’t stop talkin’ bout that tool of yours, can ya D1?
David Graves: Aloha and welcome!
Is the “light” on in your head when it comes to the Run and Shoot? Fans here have seen great results from our QBs when that that light comes on, beginning with your excellent Coach Rolovich back in the day.
How comfortable are you running this kind of offense at this point?
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball.
Kendall,
How would you assess the games of Miles-Serrano, Guerrero, and Shamburger who we lost of San Jose. I know Shamburger was MVP of his league and Guerrero is some kind of a scorer. What about defensively, quickness, penetration, assist/turnover ratio, etc. Any news? Just wondering. Sure would like to see some highlight reels of them.
P.S. I haven’t gone to a UH game in years, much less buy season’s tickets, but I’m thinking this year that I want to see some games live. I watch all the games on TV because I’ve been frustrated the last 3 years.
Now, my interest has picked up because the recruiting has picked up a lot. I’m excited for what the program could be. I will admit I was very much against Hawaii hiring Arnold and that we should have hired Kyle Smith from St. Mary’s. Now that Gib IS the coach, right now I am encouraged in what seems to be happening. We still have to see if he can coach and what kind of team he will run. You can see a good coach from a mile away. You knew Brad Stevens was good, Lon Kruger, Steve Alford, Mark Turgeon (notice they were all guards). Coach K, etc., etc., Way! Because they think like leaders and they know who to run the floor. I predict we will know what kind of coach Gib Arnold is by the way the Rainbow Warriors play in their very first game. Mark my words. What do you think about Micah Christensen as a basketball player? Although he might play volleyball in college. Just asking.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Pride.,
Those young men on defense were cracking helmets on the field. Noisy bunch. They weren’t playing nice, trying to catch or steal the ball.
david graves
how has your hawaii experience been thus far?
at this point, how much of the offense is at your grasp? (for example, expressed in percentage of knowledge and please explain)
pride….what?
was that a play on words, meaning you liked the mentality of the defense?
or do you really want to see them apologizing after a hit?
Huh?
Why is my comment awaiting moderation? That’s the first.
bobby miles(serrano) is one of those sleeper type guys who often get lost in the shuffle. after all there are so many players in california alone. i couldn’t find any video on this kid which may have been a detriment to his recruitment.
what i did find were several blogs where the people in his area were all touting him over everyone else in his league.
i hope he signs here. sounds like just the type of pg we are looking for.
is he 6’0″ or 6’2″. not matter to me.
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball.
Go Bows!
David Graves,
From what I hear you are a move the chains kind of quarterback. Colt was that type of QB during his first year here. He gained yards passing and running. Gotta be tough to do that. What is your weight now and what weight would you like to be?
Pride. – #38 – Go for it! hehehe.
david graves
okay, so by the numbers, height, weight, 40, gpa?
as a former inland norcal guy, do you surf?
Derek – #44 – I hope both Charlie Wade and Gib Arnold are courting Micah Christenson. He needs to follow in his mom’s footsteps and go to UH (mom played vb at UHH).
Its nice to see a big ole guy like Pride showing such sensitivity. Its quite touching actually… sniff, sniff…
Pride
Read your post. Read it again. Read it a third time and was cracking up!!!
jm-
Micah’s Dad was a men’s BBall player at UH-Hilo IIRC. He and his wife are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
Micah would be a double threat at UH, a star in Volleyball and Basketball.
Hi David!
Do you believe in the magic of team synergy? If so, what do you think is the most important thing you and the team needs to do to achieve it?
Thanks for choosing Hawaii
BG
Pride, your #38 – writing style is similar to yours, but the words don’t seem to match your personality and character. Very interesting reading as tho’ it’s like a sarcastic turism of what one would expect of a defensive unit.
Reminds me of my English Lit class where interpretation of a play or book or poem.
David Graves,
Do you practice with any of the receivers on your own time? And if you do, who are they?
david graves
your brother is poised to break all of your records at folsom high, what’s the chances of little brother dano becoming a warrior?
Congrats to Steph Ricketts!
David Graves,
I met your Coach Robinson after practice a few weeks ago. He mentioned that a couple of other players at Folsom High might play for UH in the future. Do you know who they are?
methinks that micah christenson is an excellent basketball player and quite the leader of the pack for the kapalama heights school.
he is a gifted athlete.
i do believe that his future is on the volleyball court as an outside hitter.
his potential is with the smaller white ball.
in either case, he needs to gain some muscle.
Altho Mom is a former UH vb player – any signals that he may be interested in playing for Hawaii?
New coaches in both sports may be a link to Manoa.
david graves
everytime i think of folsom, california that song by johnny cash starts ringing it up, “i hear that train a coming…..” that “folsom prison blues” is catchy.
now, i know that you are an accomplished musician. do you get together with your teammates who can also strum some guitar and uke such as pepa?
ahouse…i’ve seen micah sitting a row or two behind the bench at the ssc on several occasions including senior night.
who knows yah?
he would be an instant hero.
from what a birdie told me…in the past uh picked some local boys of note, only to find themselves stuck on the bench.
the word got out, if you want a chance go elsewhere. tony ching was a rare exception.
now with charlie on board, he knows the value of the local boys on the team and he really wants to change that thinking. however, he needs to create the momentum swing back to manoa.
his biggest challenge would be…do you want a stanford education or hawaii.
not surprised that the university of hawaii scooped both pitchers of the wac week.
josh slaats and stephanie ricketts.
Micah’s Grandfather was Harry “Clown” Kahuanui, an All America honorable football player at UH in the 1940s. It would seem that Micah has some serious UH pedigree going. Didn’t his Auntie Shelly play at UH too?
honorable mention* that should read above.
Warriors n Tsaikos, howzit!! Haku work hard n give-em!
Bradduh Midnight how you?

i was wonderin when kia would get a call.
Congrats to Stephanie Ricketts & Josh Slaats!
Bulla – one more – jumbo shrimp
Good luck to Aaron Kia!
Micah Christenson will be a setter in college, he is the starting setter on the USA youth national team. He is a VERY athletic setter who is a devasting blocker and would probably be the most athletic setter in the country even as a freshmen ( how many setters out there are also the state player of the year in basketball??)
I really hope Coach Wade can get him to stay home, he would be the perfect replacement for Nejc Zelmjak and get to play infront of his family and I know Coach Wade will prepare him for his future as a pro volleyball player and olympian.
jm,
good one, and since my office looks at the ala wai, how appropriate, haha…..how about this one…new habits…..not talking nuns either.
As al said, Charlie Wade must make Micah realize that being a Hawaii player may reap more benefits if he plans on living in Hawaii after sports.
Yes, a Standford degree is valuable if a graduate plans on residing on the mainland, but having played for Hawaii may be of greater value in the future. My bother-in-law, who did his medical residency at Stanford, recognized this a long time ago.
morning gang!
Pride. – #38 š
made me think of my daughters bb team, after they commit a foul they apologize to the player and then get that š look from the opponent
David Graves,
What is your attitude and emotions when the team is in the red zone? Do you feel a lot of pressure? What QB do you emulate? Or a better question, what QB do you idolize and why? Thanks for being a Warrior.
Q: David, when you are scrambling – and the play has now dissolved into into your receivers trying to get open…Who do you look for first? Do you have one favorite slot or wide receiver, who is your go to guy?
ahouse…we all have a few bother-in-laws.
i like how you coin new phrases that just make a lot of sense.
Good Luck to Aaron Kia; hope that you get a fair shot with

UH-Campus Palo Alto? Whoa, 7 local boys on the Stanford VB team. Hope Charley Wade can keep some of the local talent home in the future. But then again, the lure of a “free” Stanford Education is a strong sell. What’s the tuition there now, upwards of $90K a year?

OK, now!!!
David Graves,
Before one of your practices last year I was watching all the quarterbacks tossing the ball around. It started out with short passes. Then some longer passes. At that time Brent, Greg and Bryant (concussion) were out. So my question with the QB situation thin why did you guys risk injury to possibly jamming a finger or thumb? I thought this was risky. And I was surprised that in plain view of Miano and Delaura nobody picked this up.
(note to moderator don’t ask this question, one of the wiser coaches will pick up on this.)
Some where out there, a “techie” messaged I am posting to quickly and to slow downnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
scyned? you did that on purpose right?
as far as your bother-in-laws i am sure the mrs. ahouse would let you know with a couple of tankobo on the head if you were out of line.
ST,
Kinda weird that the 2010 Wahine Softball media guide hasn’t been available all year long online and even to this day yeah?

Whats your major? What are you r plans after college if you don’t play pro ball?
jm411….i think she is okay with feet. well, until you remind where those pig feet wallow.

maybe i can get sjmacro to toss some in his ono filipino cuisine this year.
David,
How eager are the boys to face perennial power USC? And, what do you and your fellow warriors plan to do in the offseason to avoid an embarrasing performance against the trojans on national tv?
DPK – Da keed played vb in Manoa in 2nd and 3rd grades (and hasn’t played since). Her coaches in 2nd grade were Nanci Coolen, Lori Santi and Amy Yosaitis (another Pun PE teacher). In 3rd grade, the coaches were Charlene Christianson and Shelley Fey.
How many PE teachers does Punahou employ? sheeesh.

David Graves: Why did you choose Hawaii over schools?
Pride…#38…LUV your analysis of the Warrior D!….Back to the days of biting, clawing, scratching and gouging?….Nasty young men! We need to talk to da parents?
Come September…we see if they learned any manners huh?
NSF – #126 – I hope not!!!
David Graves: Some think our defense is pretty ornery. Do you agree or do you think they’re more like puttytats? š
P.S. Your life & health are on the line with this answer.
Warrior D etiquette..
1. After decleating the opponent, help with putting shoes back on.
2.
How close is the battle between the QBs? Please indicate how many points ahead or behind are you.
Sorry Stephen. I’m just kidding with my last question (#128). I don’t want to be responsible for any injuries to young QB.
Jm..das was the standard back in da “old days”… spitting scratching grabbing, gouging, my firends who played got the “reminders” of some games.
David–
What’s a typical day for David “the undertaker” Graves?
NSF – I hope the D doesn’t learn any manners! (so long as it doesn’t result in a flag)
jmxxxx ~ Hmmm…now I’m thinking of making pig’s feet in blackeyed peas for tailgate come September. Mebbe a Pig’s head to pick on would be good as a 2nd Entree. Put a Trojan helmet on it for some PR photos before devouring it.
Hi mctruck,
I moved to Arlington, TX to be near my ailing brother. So we are about 170 miles apart by Google. My email is: wongkkt at hotmail.com. Like to hear from you
UKU –
NIce to see you on the blog.. I guess you are like me, just lurking…. One drawback I have now with the blog…. Barbara and I are five hours ahead of Hawaii time. We get up in the morning and the Hawaii Tsaikos are mostly in bed, with the exception of midnight burners like Ralph, and Liz to mention a few.
Have a good one!

Hi, midnight!!!
The live Warrior Beat show transmission was gret today! No glitches. David does sound like Colt.
Good luck to Kia with the 49ers! Would love to see him playing for them.
Last summer 2009 practice I mentioned to curveball, sjmicro and myki. Watch out for this kid Graves, he’s going to start next year.
Au’ryte, I like Bruddah Davids attitude about winning and not worrying about everybody else and what they’re doing. With the mentality to keep focused and do what he needs to do to be the man, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before he’s tossing TD’s all day! Also, I like the fact that although he knows he may not have everything on par as far as the offense goes, he’s the type of guy to improvise and do whatever it takes to win and score. Love the Red Zone mentality… Red Zone = Score TD…Period! Good Luck to him and the rest of the Warrior Boys…
Great show!
Mahalo with a shaka to David Graves for taking the time to answer questions.
Also, mahalo plenny to the princess and the tsai maestro.
What’d win? š š
It’s time to get serious about Rainbow baseball.
BleedGreen808 now if he can just get the rest of the team to adopt that attitude. Look out. I like the fact that he wants to go into every game thinking they are going to win.. Like Liz said maybe wi have another BELIEVE year in the making……….
Pomai,
I think you meant years in the making, remember he is a red-shirt freshman still with 4yrs. to play! He will make his own path to stardom, Colt and the Believe team is gone…he will mark his own territory and put his own signature touch to what Warrior Football and scoring touchdowns is all about…garrans babbarrans!
Good show with David, Wai-Wai, and the other guy.
Thanks, too, for putting it on later in the day.
This is going to be good in the next few years. Colt and Company had it for just a few years. Can you contain your imaginations of what things will be like in 4-years?
Whoo-hoo!!!

This year is THIS YEAR and the past is the PAST!! Wahine will prevail!
Congrats to Tyson Alualu and family! Malo Tyson! Too bad for Colt Brennan. Too bad also to Estes and gang from UH who were not drafted as media people from Hawaii were saying Estes and gang would be drafted, and high, come this year’s draft.
Next person to be drafted high from Hawaii will be Savai at Cal.
What does it matter what happened in the past for the Wahine? It will be a brand new season at the tournament.
Time for an undefeated “season”!!!

Let’s get this straight. Colt Brennan was drafted in the 6th round. The same round that drafted Tom Brady. Being drafted doesn’t insure success. Look at Ryan Leaf, bust. Jamarcus Russell, bust. The good thing for them is that they got top dollar, but I doubt they are happy.
Good news about MVB,
Good luck to Aaron Kia.

d1 on 174,
Have a hunch there’ll be some payback on the Warriors’ minds this year. The way the D has been ball-hawking INTs this Spring, added to the loss of Ryan Matthews, and with the D-Line & LBs ready to stuff the run, I don’t think their QBs are going to be ready to pass it as much as they may have to.
FYI – I am not okay with FEET…don’t even like looking at human feet!
That’s just gross that they eat them after the places they have been!! Chicken feet at dim sum is totally gross to look at also.
Kekoa, stop taunting me!!! šæ
Oh, and I don’t want them stinking baseball tickets because I will be cheering in Palo Alto this weekend or watching the Raiders mini-camp…maybe both!?!?!
Kazz,
I thought I read that Masoli got probation & community service. I don’t know what they are doing on the football team with him.
Practice was practice. Watching them try to catch bouncing tennis balls; grabbing towels & then trying to block a kick. I have no clue, but it was interesting. All of the QBs need more reps. I think it was Dustin Blount who made a wonderful one-handed catch.
Nebraska’s Chancellor says that Nebraska is open to switching to the Big 10 or some other conference if it makes sense for Nebraska. The extra $11 million to $15 million per year in TV money from the Big 10 Network seems to outweigh the extra travel costs Nebraska would have for nonrevenue sports.
Another interesting thing about this article is that it reveals that conferences (probably the Big 10) aren’t just talking about expanding to 12 or 16…one of the major conference might actually expand to *24*!!! That would set up a whole mini-D-IA division, with TV revenues and a national TV reach that could threaten to leave the rest of the schools behind.
First, I should point out that Nebraska’s Chancellor is positioned very well in Athletics.
Here is how he reveals that some conference or conferences are talking about going to 24 teams.
Note about the power of the Big 10 Network.
Note about why the NCAA cannot do anything about conference realignment.

I attended practice this afternoon. The defense definitely looked better than the offense. They seemed more “jacked” up also.
I noticed that Nielson only took mental reps while the four other QBs were rotating at leading the offense. There were a lot of drops by the receivers. Also the DBs stayed a little later than the rest of the team running some drills.
While I was watching from the parking structure, the Wahine softball team passed underneath. Man, that Ricketts could put a hurt on some of our football players! I would be scared of running into her on a dark street!
When leaving, saw Jonas Umlauft riding his bike back to the dorms. That boy is tall, but he needs a bigger bike because it almost looked uncomfortable to see him trying to pedal with his legs all bunched up. Such a nice kid though!!! Can’t wait to see him show Stanford why he is Freshman of the Year!
masoli has been suspended from playing for one year. in effect, he is using his redshirt year.
what kind of lesson does that teach?
So I was on Volley Talk last night and someone was griping about how Hawaii won with a net serve. Okay, all the teams have to deal with that same possibility. What does that person want? Take away the dump from the setter too? How about not allowing a joust to be the final point too? Let’s be real…the rule applies to all teams and I’m pretty sure that Nejc didn’t say…hmmm let me hit the chord and hope the ball falls on the other side. GEEZ…the whiners always come out after they lose!!
bobby miles commits to uh
Rob Stephanie is big, her sister Keilani, a freshman, is taller at 6’2 and is big(ger). She’s a lefty pitcher for Oklahoma Sooners. Yeah, go to the Raider Mini and send back a report.
Good luck Aaron Kia.
Rob25 or anyone else: What is VolleyTalk? Also, what other college local sports blogs are there besides this one?
Off topic, but I think this will be of interest to many here.
Lori discovered something interesting when she was taking her parents around San Diego last week. San Diego State’s basketball arena is named after Viejas, which owns a casino and outlet mall just 20 minutes away from their campus. Lori took her parents to gamble at the casino (they had a great time, walking away slightly ahead after over an hour of play) and found out that the gambling age at the casinos in the San Diego area is *18*!
So, you have a casino located 20 minutes away from a college campus that allows 18-year-olds to gamble…and their name is up in HUGE letters in the campus as the name of the basketball area. Wow. There are also 3 or 4 other casinos in pretty easily driving distance that allow 18-year-olds to gamble.
Lori and I went to the casino today because Lori’s parents got 2 free buffet coupons (you get 2 free buffets if you earn just 15 points from gambling in a day, which they did on a penny slot machine in less than an hour). We didn’t have time to gamble, but I checked out the tables saw that the odds they give are just as good or better than Vegas! For example, I checked the Let It Ride payoffs and they matched the best odds I’ve found in Vegas.
I’ve been to Native American casinos in Washington, Oregon, etc., and the Riverboat casinos in New Orleans…the odds at those places normally were noticeably worse than Vegas odds. And I always thought that the gambling ages at those places were 21.
mbb is looking up.
be nice if the last recruit commits as well.
i guess all along artie wilson was right.
there are a lot of basketball players out there.
The NCAA says that USC paying someone to advise them on special teams violated rules for paid consultants. Even though the advisor did not talk directly to the student-athletes, it appears that he was too close to the line to being a coach.
Gib is really putting together an impressive first recruiting class. It sure appears that JD chose well, and hopefully this will show up in increased ticket sales next year.

Now that we’ve got Serrano, all we need is Willie Mays Hayes and Ricky Vaughn! If we can get Dominick Brumfield, that makes seven recruits and we can go all in. I want to see these guys at practice already.
Things are looking up. New Mexico St. will lose Jahmar Young (kicked of the team) and Nevada’s Babbitt and Armon Johnson declared for the NBA draft. I think UH will be well positioned to make some serious noise next season.
Baylor’s Udoh and Butler’s Hayward (both teams are in the Diamond Head Classic in Dec.) has declared for the NBA draft so again the stars are aligned perfectly for Hawaii.
OLDIE: Wouldn’t mind getting a copy! Thanks.
NOTHING.
Bobby Miles, a high-scoring point guard at Workman High School in City of Industry, Calif., said Monday night that he is committed to playing for the Rainbow Warriors next season.
bulla see #190
derek i share your excitement. but, lets not get ahead of ourselves many of the newbies will be incoming freshmen.
but yah….things are looking up.
will we stop at the magnificent seven?
or will we keep going for it?
will dwain “the pain” williams still be with us?

somehow recruiting news always brings the best out of everyone.
for example, i can’t wait to see the beast in action in 2011. idk if i could wait that long.
I like Dwain, hope things workout for him. I think of all the players coming back, Hiram has got to have the biggest smile on his face. I think he surprises many next year.

I hope the preseason schedule is a good one, lots of anticipation, UH plays good basketball and wins its share, the crowd will be back like they did for the mvb. Win and they will come, but the schedule got to be somewhat challenging like the MPSF in volleyball. At $26 per seat in the lower bowl, fans will be willing to pay to watch a perceived good game.
vander joaquim, 6’10”, c/pf, jc w/3 for 3 9 ppg/7 reb
(as a junior, high school numbers: 21 ppg/17 reb/3 blk
good to see the players are rebounders, multi dimensional, and the steals are good. Controllling the boards and playing good defense will keep us in the game, the quicker they learn the offense and score points off set plays, then the wins will come in bunches.
as late a start coach Gib had in recruiting and not having his assitants in place, he has done a remarkable job in picking up players who have done well in their careers. I hope he can mold them quickly into his offense and defense. How many days of practice before UH plays its first game?
i hope they play a physical, choking defense, that’s exciting in itself.
so who are the sb players who will be quests on the WB show at 3 pm today
Is there room for all five seniors? Hmmmm maybe not.
At least Taualii and Grimes.
ralph….the gibber has mentioned on numerous occasions that he will employ a pressing defense. he likes his teams to press length to length from the get go.
he feels that the offense will be predicated by the havoc created by the defensive pressure.
he likes a fast paced, run n gun, pro style game.
therefore, he recruited a lot of guys who can shoot and shoot the threes from all five positions, handle the ball, run up and down the court, athletic, and have the passion for the game that he shares.
and then there’s the enforcer down low…vander joachim.
hopefully, he’ll land that other big that he needs to complement this class.
in time they will be called the magnificent seven as someone has already called them.
kazz…kelly girl has got to be one of the chatters. afterall, isn’t she the darling of this team???
oh by the way doesn’t ray ray look stout?
good job. i hope he gets there in the nfl. he will the first samoan/japanese nfl’er ever.
that would be cool.
C’mon now Al,
WarriorBeat has never had the same guest(s) twice.
That’s why replays aren’t popular.
Since I don’t have basketball season tix I’ve tried to buy lower level indovidual seats to NO AVAIL!!!!
So many empty seats down there and they say “nothing available”… š
To add to my post…
This is why we move down to open seats while paying for upper level ones.
No joke, you have people trying to be honest and pay the real price to benefit UHAD and nothin….
Wahine vball booster club president Stan Lee pointed out on persons complaint of trying to buy Wahine vball season tix in the. Lower level and willing to pay the premium price only for the ticket office to tell them none available in the section they wanted after these people spotted so many seats available and empty there all season long.
#221 Al so how does Hiram fit in this run and gun and pressing defense. I didn’t see any speed or quickness to play the press and trapping defense. His experience is the slow motion flex, its like he doesn’t bring any experience to the table, he himself got to learn to play up tempo. and to lead a break, he and Dwain had trouble handling the ball especially when the other team had athletic guards, like New Mexico, too quick and physical for them.
Nevertheless UH lost these ppl as potential customers due to their frustration in the whole process.
Kazz that is why the tickets issued count is so much higher than the actual attendance. Corporate seats? Big donors or advertisers who are give complimentary tickets but can’t get their employees to go to the game.
maybe JD got to keep tabs of the complimentary tickets and tally who is showing up regularly and those that aren’t, reassign those seats that are regularly vacant and sell them next season.
Katie Grimes as a guest on the WB today would be nice.
This is where a luxury box comes in handy at the SSC.
Kazz,
Where would the luxury boxes be situated and how much would they cost to use them?
ralph….hiram played injured all year. he’ll do fine with the new look rainbow warrior team.
dwain if he stays on the team actually has some skills. however, he needs to be a team player.
playing an untempo game doesn’t mean you have to be fast or the best ball handler. it means you got to know your responsibilities on both ends of the court. you need to know which land to fill on offense and where the pressure needs to be applied on defense. in either case, each player needs to know their role and responsibilities.
no need be so fast. the court is less than 100 feet 94 feet to be exact..
Hiram has been injured for two seasons, the game is physical, he got hit a few times. He ought to see Heffernan and toughen up for the physical play expected in a pressing defense and up tempo game where I hope the point will at times take it to the hoop to draw the big man. Last season he was begging for fouls on contact, he has to play through it, contact and all, and continue play, no begging like Balocka.
Fast, quick, I don’t know what is needed but I know what I saw, he couldn’t keep up with the New Mexico guards, he struggled bringing the ball up on full court man presses and traps, guards with quick hands really handcuffed him. But this is a new season coming up, new coach, new system, everyone starts at ground zero, the best will play.
Luxury boxes, raise the roof. But first we got to get the Stanley half filled with real people, not tickets issued. Then 3/4 and when we are on the verge of regular sell outs, UH can start thinking of luxury boxes.
Ferd has a good sb column in this morning’s paper. Got to beat Fresno!
Good morning!
Make it a good one!!!
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/377771-ncaa-football-teams-that-return-the-most-and-least-starters-in-2010
BS the most with 23 returning. Of course that one missing went to the Jets in the first round.
Rob25 ~ I had no idea you were that far off the reservation. None of Ke Akua’s Kritters to satisfy your hunger. That’s sad woman.
To make matters worse, you want to go to the Radarz mini-mental reps camp?…Oh, Puh-Leeze!
Great Morning All!
Nice reading about Coach Heffernan’s “clean” program…hope it pays big dividends in the fall.
good morning tsaikos. d1, time to wake up and go. yeeesh!!!!
Kazz – what frustrates me about the ticket prices is that there are no youth seats available for the lower bowl. I would be willing to pay a higher price for youth seats, to legitimately sit in the lower bowl.
š³ Good morning Tsai-kos!
What wud make me feel more at ease w/mbb is another good pg and either another really strong pf or c.
whitey,
I going, I going….
HiHo.
Ralph on 236,
I think at least part of the reason Hiram had difficulty bringing the ball up (aside from injuries) was that his teammates seldom came back to help-out. This year, the majority of these new recruits seem to have ball-handling skills & a number of them can bring the ball up on their own if need be. This might make it a lot more difficult for opponents to press & trap them. Still, there will be teams like Butler that play a very disciplined offense & smothering defense that will dictate that UH at times needs some type of half-court game; can’t just play run-and-gun.
I agree with Kazz, Ralph & others that the lower bowl seating availability needs to be looked at. If certain sections remain chronically empty, those corporate assignments should be assigned to mid-level seats. If next season they remain empty again, should be moved to upper-level, etc. That way, at least portions of the lower bowl could systematically be freed up.
Protector ~ I’ve always had the feeling that the entire UH ticket office needs an overhaul. I never felt like they were doing their best to accomodate the customer.
Let’s start with who is in charge and check out their new hire/training program. Move on to daily operations, of OTC/internet & corp sales. Then, identify the ‘no-show’ seats. We all know how screwed the FB ticket sales have gotten both home and away.
…and what about this guy that has tickets to burn on the WB? He should certainly be a person of interest!
whitey,
I going, I going….
