On the move

After a nice practice this morning, the Warriors are off to Fresno (via Oakland).

Rodney Bradley had his first full practice in two weeks, and will start at left wideout.

Right wideout Royce Pollard has some wear and tear, but he also is expected to start. If he needs a break, then Billy Ray Stutzmann, who started in place of Bradley last week, slides over to the right side.

And there definitely will be a role for receiver Dustin Blount, as a slotback, wideout or fifth receiver. Blount also will return punts.

* * * * *

Practice was over for about 10 minutes, but still on the field was Kealoha Pilares, this time working on … long snaps?

A little later, special teams coordinator Chris Tormey needed someone to lob high throws for the kick-returners. “Can you do it, Kealoha?” Tormey asked.

“Of course,” Pilares answered.

And he did, launching towering passes.

Happy birthday to a tireless volunteer — Wassup Doc.

And a very happy birthday to my dear neighbor, Mrs. A-House.

vote for Moniz – Davey O’Brien award.

He has only 78 votes so far. c’mon, help out.

  27. A-House October 7, 2010 7:57 am

Why is it that Moniz will wait until 6 or 7 seconds on the field clock before getting the snap even if he is ready with 17 or 18 seconds to go?

Is this part of the coaching staff’s run-n-shoot? Seems a lot of wasted time especially when UH is behind.

  28. Michigan Warrior October 7, 2010 8:02 am

Pomai… just playing… I know “gramps” was directed to one person in particular… and that person knew who you were talking to. Just saying that it’s funny like how a kid will say “mommy” at a party, and all the ladies turn around.

  29. Michigan Warrior October 7, 2010 8:04 am

A-House.. maybe it’s our way of burning some clock, to give our defense more breathing time.

  30. al October 7, 2010 8:10 am

fresno to oakland by bus is nearly 200 miles and 3+ hours.

  31. al October 7, 2010 8:15 am

ahouse…i thought we were rather efficient in our two minute drill. also, unless there is a real sense of urgency, vs army for example, the qb is reading coverages. a man in motion is designed to also read the coverages. more important to move the chains rather than hurry up, especially in our offense which is predicated by what the defense is doing.

  32. Michigan Warrior October 7, 2010 8:20 am

When I left California back in ’86, the speed limit on I-5, 101, etc. was only 55mph. It’s probably 70mph or so now. So that should save some time.

  33. Kekoa (iPhone) October 7, 2010 8:27 am

Good morning Tsaiko’s…(and our beloved Gramps).

MW ~ Koakane is our instant party starter. Much like using starter fluid for charcoal. With him, just add a few ounces of beer, and stir! We have had some real ‘cartoon’ episodes with our Warrior Braddah. Add him to the top of your meet & greet list in Vegas next Sep.

  34. Kekoa (iPhone) October 7, 2010 8:30 am

…and yes, the speed limit in CA is 70 Mph in the unincorporated areas of the Hwy sys.

  35. longdistance808 October 7, 2010 8:32 am

Uh… yeah. The drive from Oakland to Fresno is ONLY 3.5 hours with almost no bends in the road for mountains. The drive to Vegas from Fresno (according to Google Maps routing through Bakersfield and Barstow and into the Sierra) is more than double that at a simple 6.5 hours!!! They’d be better off going back to Oakland or San Jose. Or is this a magic schoolbus that they have in Fresno?

  36. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 8:34 am

Did you see the smerk on Rolo face (looking to the side of another assistant coach) when Liz asked are there any new tricks for Fresno Game as we’ve seen in the last few games?

Boy I can’t wait to see what’s up on Rolo’s sleeve.

Too bad I couldn’t be at the practice today before they board the bus.

Go Warriors! Eat those Red Dog Meat!

  37. longdistance808 October 7, 2010 8:34 am

Or heck with it… drive to Reno and scout the Wolfpack already.

  38. manoa October 7, 2010 8:38 am

35, It is not a bus, it is a plane! They are taking a charter flight to Vegas to catch a 2:50 AM flight– pretty sure only Vegas has a flight like that.

  39. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 8:42 am

Yes they have Airports in Fresno too. They can be home by 7 AM @ HNL Sunday!

  40. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 8:44 am

There are no flight out of West coast till Sunday morning to Honolulu.

  41. longdistance808 October 7, 2010 8:46 am

Ah. I can see clearly now. I inserted “bus” into the post unknowingly. Wow. Thanks.

  42. Committed Road Warrior October 7, 2010 8:47 am

It’s called a charter flight from Fresno to Vegas after the game. 45 minutes to an hour long.

So what happens if the game runs long, say double overtime? Does Hawaiian hold the Vegas flight for the team, or leave without them?

  43. longdistance808 October 7, 2010 8:52 am

I’d assume they’d hold it for half an hour or so if needed to save the headache and expense of rebooking.

  44. Bulla October 7, 2010 8:54 am

  46. Shoko October 7, 2010 8:59 am

I would think if the game went into double overtime and the team misses their connecting flight out of Vegas, it would mean one night in Vegas dropping some coin into those slots or a little playtime on the tables. That 2:50 am flight is probably the last flight out of McCarran airport.

    Anyway, good morning, folks.

I don’t know the logistics of the Fresno airport or what it entails to charter a flight, but it’s too bad that Hawaiian Airlines couldn’t somehow provide a charter flight for the Warriors out of Fresno.

  57. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 9:27 am

Die Hard Fans still trying to go Fresno Game there are still tickets available on Press Box side of section 9 and 10 available for $60.00. that is on 30 yard line UH Warrior side.

  58. gigi-hawaii October 7, 2010 9:32 am

The Fresno game is at 4 pm, right? Will watch it on ppv.

  59. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 9:32 am

Hawaiian Air could but their charter flights costs Arm and a Leg. You don’t want to add anymore to $2 Million deficit.

In fact what Hawaiian Air should do is Paint one of their plane with UH Log and Warriors on the side as a Promo to Come fly to Hawaii.

  60. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 9:35 am

Maybe we should ask Horizon Airline to paint with UH logo will be faster than Hawaiian.

Only thing I don’t think they fly to Hawaii.

    Good Morning Everyone!

My weekend starts after work today. I’m participating in RainbowCliff’s charity golf tournament tomorrow (for the foundation he works for in South Central L.A.), then driving to Fresno Saturday for the tailgate and whooping of the bull-puppies. Can’t wait to see some old friends!!

Nice to see the offense getting tuned up for the tough WAC schedule against Freakno, NoBoddah, and Lousy St. Special teams & D still are a work in progress, but all the Warriors need to do is score one more point in each game. GO WARRIORS!

  62. Pomai October 7, 2010 9:36 am

Don’t understand why Hawaiian Air dosen’t work out a deal to fly UH Teams to the mainland for free, cost could be used as a donation to UH, tax writeoff???

    ***Off topic***

Apparently Apple ordered about 300,000 CDMI cards… INFAMOUS for necessary use for devices with Verizon.

COULD be that the iPad is coming over to VZW.. Or …. (I don’t even wanna think about it…)

    Forget T-Mobile.

The Journal cites a source saying that doomsday for current VZW customers will be in January 2011 when the network could be overloaded with new iPhone customers like AT&T and VZW customers will experience dropped calls and spotty areas of coverage like AT&T.

It might be enough to make me ditch VZW after 10 years, but after having a good signal consistently for this long, I cannot stand to suffer the injustice of a flooded network.

I hope this is another rumor… or that VZW will be able to modify their network in a short amount of time to handle the increase.

So, one plane with UH on it, one with SPAM attack, and one with Hawaii Five-0.

And as Pomai suggested, why doesn’t Hawaiian Air fly UH teams as a write off? At least this one game would be a good one, if they didn’t want to do the whole season. Maybe coordinate with UH as to which one or two games they could fly in and fly out as a donation.

Speaking of Csonka, what ever happened to Mercury Morris? Every time I see a tiny RB slicing and dicing through defenses, I think of that guy.

Hawaii still won’t have full 4G coverage.

Sprint jumped the gun and touted 4G like crazy then when it came out people soon realized that it wasn’t widely available, specially in Hawaii. The same goes for Verizon’s soon to be released 4G.

are you coming here to watch CATS this December? We saw it twice — once on Broadway, once at the Blaisdell (years ago).

    Heya Liz –

Gonna bring up the “big boy” camera along with the Sony P&S for plenty of tailgate and game pics. I’ll post them next week. (Assuming I still remember how to log into my picasa account.) Can’t thank you enough for directing me to the “big boy”. It’s a great camera with far more features than I can possibly understand.

    duffer would know.

didn’t he say that the cost of a charter flight round trip to and fro honolulu to the west coast is about 80-100k?

if so, that is a lot of money to ask of hawaiian air who already spends big bucks as a corporate sponsor and didn’t they throw in a huge chunk of change by offering free flight for recruiting purposes for all sports.

i am afraid that if such a freebie were offered then the airfares would certainly reflect that expenditure.

LIZ Of course not!! It’s just that most regulars prefer to sit with their friends rather than with folks they only know by face or a blog name.

The last time I was in Fresno – just outside the city limits – I accidently hit a cow wandering on a side road I was exploring and wound up spending four days there while the car was being repaired. Not a great place to be under any set of circumstances but especially in early August. I quickly identified four nearby air-conditioned restaurants/coffee shops although the motel I stayed at only had two table fans. I wound up seeing eight movies in four days just to stay cool.

Horizon is Alaska Air subsidearly and just yesterday Painted 3 aircraft in colors of Public Universities.

The thing about tax writeoffs is that taxes are never 100%, so the writeoff only helps you with a small part of the cost of the charter.

On top of that, like most companies, Hawaiian probably does not pay any income tax against which they could use the writeoff (the fact that most corporations do not pay any US taxes or Hawaii taxes is an interesting off-topic discussion).

  111. Okole Maluna October 7, 2010 11:26 am

Since 2008 Horizon had Boise State, Oregon State, U of Oregon, U of Washington and Washington State University logo’s on their planes.

Hawaiian’s planes are just too big for UH to charter cost effectively. Hawaiian is into charters — both the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks are using Hawaiian this year for their away games. USC charted Hawaiian to come to Hawaii this year and Oregon State used Hawaiian to fly from Eugene to Texas (and yes, I meant Eugene.)

It costs big money to paint a plane as big as a 767 or A330. I think it would be great if Hawaiian did that, but again, big money. When you think about Horizon’s network you realize how it makes sense for them to put essentially all the PNW school logos on their relatively small planes. When Horizon does it they do a pretty thorough job of it.

It would be great if UH could come up with a way to fill a 767 half with players and support staff and half with paying fans. That is a big commitment though and you would have to get the fans on board early enough or risk losing too much money. It would be great for say 100 fans to be able to fly direct from HNL to Boise for a game. The problem though of course is that the airports have to accommodate a 767 and the fans have to be willing to leave with the team, which is hoping to get home without having to shell out for hotel rooms if possible.

I don’t know if most of the airports in or near WAC cities can even accommodate wide body jets. I don’t think any besides SJSU and Hawaii regularly have planes that big at their airports.

Plus, don’t the players get to accumulate frequent flier miles? You don’t with a charter. Those miles are probably real helpful to some of the players in terms of getting home to see family and whatnot.

  121. Garret October 7, 2010 11:55 am

The UH-Utah State game is being televised on Altitude TV. That is nice for the mainland Warrior fans.

Altitude will televise four WAC college football games in the remaining 2010 college football season. The Utah State Aggies’ next televised game on Altitude will air LIVE on Saturday, October 9th at 2:00pm MT, when they face the visiting University of Hawaii Warriors in Logan, Utah. Other contests from the 2010 college football season can be seen on Altitude, including games from the Big Sky, Big East, SEC and more.

Altitude is available on Dish Network (ch. 410), DIRECTV (ch. 681), and through many cable television providers.

I think coach Pat Hill would have loved to have his Bulldogs remain in the WAC, and after reading how bad the economy is in Fresno and the domino effect on all things associated with Fresno, one can sympathize with keeping expenses down and doing so by going, MWC.

I mean, if the Golden Bears of California has to cut a bunch of athletic participation from their overall athletic program to make a go of it, then who can blame the Bulldogs reaction to the direction/decisions they’ve taken?

Pat Hill was good for the WAC and I personally hate to see him leave…but it ain’t his decision.

That being said…..throw dem bulldogs back into the dog pound……GO WARRIORS!!!..NO MERCY!!woof-woof!!

  123. Garret October 7, 2010 11:57 am

If UH does go indy it appears that BSU will have some openings in their schedule they need to fill. BSU played the first game of a 4-game series at Utah and now Utah canceled the other 3 games and is paying the $350k buyout.

Utah has canceled its three-game football series with Boise State, the Utes announced Thursday. The teams were scheduled to play in 2011 in Boise, 2012 in Salt Lake City and 2013 in Boise.

Utah paid $350,000 to get out of the deal. Boise State played the first game of the scheduled four-game series in 2006 in Salt Lake City.

Here is an interesting way that could make money for UH–auctioning a press box pass. The highest bidder gets 2 seats in the press box and a pre-game meal. SMU is donating the money to a breast cancer charity but I think UHAD should keep the money if they do this since they need it.

    Pomai,

My pick is UH 20, Fresno State 31

If this was a wishing contest instead of a prediction contest, then I would give a different number. I think that UH can win the game, but Fresno’s strength on special teams is a bad matchup for UH’s special teams right now.

  129. Garret October 7, 2010 12:08 pm

    Kazz,

I wouldn’t worry about Verizon’s network–they are ahead of schedule with their LTE (4G) deployment and they just increased the number of regions they will have LTE in before the end of the year. They have so much bandwidth for LTE that they will increase their data speeds by 10x *and* still have their 3G network to cover their customers.

  130. Rich2176 October 7, 2010 12:09 pm

re #121 – Warriors play Fresno on October 9. Correct date is two weeks later on October 23.

  131. Garret October 7, 2010 12:13 pm

The UC and Cal State systems are getting a *lot* more money under the budget that was just agreed to in California. The UC system gets $199 million more than last year from the state and the Cal State system gets $199 million more…plus, get to split $212 million in federal stimulus money.

Is UH getting more or less next year? Is UH gettings hundreds of millions in stimulus money? I don’t think UH fans want the real answers to those questions. I see $510 million more going to public Universities in California and the only talk for UH is on cutting budgets and raising tuition.

  132. Garret October 7, 2010 12:15 pm

    Rich2176,

That is funny that they made that mistake on the Warrior game date because the article started with this:

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will host the Utah State Aggies LIVE this Saturday, October 9th at 2:00pm MT on Altitude.

So, the article has Utah State playing both La Tech and UH on the Altitude channel on Saturday!

  133. Michigan Warrior October 7, 2010 12:21 pm

Garret… I still like the idea of UH auctioning player jerseys. Figure the cost of a new jersey, with name, numbers, patches, whatever it needs… then collect these after the game from certain players, put it up for auction at a minimum starting price to pay for replacement jerseys. Maybe even have the player sign it too, and possibly include a certificate of when it was worn (date, opponent, etc.)

Go one step further and auction replicas of prior players, like Colt, Robyn Ah-Mow, whomever.

    Player Jerseys for Auction.

I think there may be a way.

First thing is to NOT have the player’s name on the back.

    2) Don’t advertise it as “Colt Brennan’s jersey” for example. Just advertise the # and what year it was used.

    3) There is something about the way the item is listed with UH’s inventory stock. Something about how the item is declared as part of UH’s inventory. Can’t remember if it’s a state issue or an NCAA thing.

    DPK,

If I win the contest this week, I’ll give the prize to you.

  164. Kazz (click to support UH softball) October 7, 2010 1:21 pm

Might be a State of Hawaii thing, with the jerseys as far as them being listed on inventory because I believe I heard those are considered “state property”.

  165. Pomai October 7, 2010 1:22 pm

Michigan Warrior BTW I agree with you they should be doing something like that, or how about all the old jerseys that the great ones wore – How much do you think a game worn jesrey say from Al Noga would bring??? and there are many more – AC’s jersey ———

  166. Kazz (click to support UH softball) October 7, 2010 1:31 pm

    Michigan Warrior,

It’s weird I know, but at the same time I can sort of appreciate where the NCAA stands on it. At the height of popularity, no officially licensed UH apparel EVER feature the name of Colt Brennan, Davone, etc… not even their image.

Even when buying from the Rainbowtique, they will NOT allow you to purchase a black jersey and place a player’s name on it even if you personally have the same last name as them. Of course, you can just buy a UH jersey and go to a separate shop where they can place the name you want.

What if 3 girls named Suzie Salas, and Patricia Pilares and

To wear on their own it’s fine. They can even use the UH tapa fonts if they like and the logo too.

If they start giving them away, then it gets tricky I think.

To sell? Forget about it. Maybe if they did NOT use the UH font and UH “H” logo probably can without fear of legal action.

  175. wafan October 7, 2010 1:53 pm

    Hi!

  176. Kazz (click to support UH softball) October 7, 2010 1:54 pm

Buti Groove made a bunch of shirts related to UH, but they were smart as NONE of these shirts featured any copyrighted UH marks like the tapa print.

There were those “Buck Foise” shirts. Just a plain green shirt with white letters with no special design.

Then the “RUSH THE FIELD” shirts in the same scheme, just plain green shirt with white letters.

And my favorite “BOWS BFOR HOS” shirt. A little different with a little half rainbow in black and white on a green shirt and the words in HUGE white letters.

Shirts were sold and Buti Groove never got in trouble because they did it the right way.

But as you can see, with shirts like these, you can imagine WHY UH has to protect their logo and their image. Lots of FUDDY DUDDIES would have problems with these phrases and the “Rush The Field” thing for sure is something UH doesn’t want to be associated with due to safety issues and the fact that a school gets fined by the NCAA when fans storm the field or court of play.

Remember the song Sink the Bismark? On the flip side of the 45 rpm was a song titled “All Because of You” or “All for the Love of a Girl” – tired, brain malfunctioning, no can remember even who sang the song – country artist, I believe.

Any one still got 45 and/or 78 rpm records? I have several 78s and a friend got Jim Nabors to autograph the cover of his biggest hits for me.

When we went to the Colorado game, I went to Central City, about an hours drive noth of Denver to collect tokens or chips from 27 casinos.

First casino I walked into was the Bonanza and this nice lady asked me where I was from. I said Hawaii, and she immediately said SPAM. She grew up in the town where Spam is manufactured and her Dad worked in that facility for 42 years! Says she still eats spam, but nothing compared to what is consumed in Hawaii.

Classic example of how there is no security in the NFL. Jake Ingram has 1 bad snap and the Patriots start auditioning other long snappers.

The Patriots had long-snapper Matt Katula and kickers Shayne Graham and Shaun Suisham in for tryouts this week.

Katula’s tryout comes after second-year long snapper Jake Ingram — a sixth-round pick out of Hawaii last year — had a high field-goal snap in Monday’s win over the Dolphins.

  250. Mrs. A-House October 7, 2010 6:52 pm

    Good Evening Everybody!

To my dear Tsaiko friends…thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gracious Happy Birthday good wishes. WassupDoc, you and I share a birthday along with one of my favorite “The View” hostesses, Joy Behar, Oliver North and Adolph Hitler? Yikes! Well, there’s bound to be a bad apple in every barrel. Best wishes to you WDoc, too.

Slugger, the attempt to get on the Today Show in NYC was a bust. Even with 75 people in our Hawaii group with nifty signs, we were too far in the back for the cameras to scan the large crowd that beat us to the best spot. They must have been lining up before 5:00 am. My advice to our group leader, next time, why not gather to get on Good Morning America show which filmed across the street from our Marriott Hotel in Times Square. Far fewer people father, for some reason, and Robin Roberts, Sam Champion and George Stephanopoulos greet you right on the sidewalk and invite you into the studio. Nice to finally be back home, though.

Busy, busy, busy…been on the road almost the whole month of September. I’m still not fully recovered. Spending this week with house guests, so still haven’t had time to fully recover. Kazz, and Al, your advice to “snap and clear” after a heartbreaking loss is resonating in my head. I’ve “snapped”, but I still haven’t “cleared” after the Colorado loss.

I don’t have much hair on my head to begin with. Good thing I wear a hat…minimized how much hair I pulled out after watching those agonizing goal-line attempts to score within Colorado’s five-yard line. So, my Tsaiko friends, when you next see me, give me a consoling hug and reassurances that I can blame it on that !@#$%^ 1-mile above sea level atmosphere that left our Warriors “gassed”. They played hard, and I can’t say enough about every one of the players. Whether we win or lose a game, I love them all!! I continue to be soooo proud and happy to watch the Warriors play so splendidly these past two weekends as they dispatched their opponents. On Saturday, Warriors, do your very best, play with all your heart and soul, minimize mistakes and WIN!! Just do it!!

I’ve enjoyed a wonderful birthday…heartfelt mahalo to all.

    Mrs. A-House

Back in the dot com days I was part of a network that made a good deal of money with advertising sponsorship. But anyone will tell you, advertising isn’t what it used to be. With meager CPM rates, it has got people wondering if they should even bother with advertising.

Google Adsense is pretty popular and while people may be starting to filter it out and click less it still makes sense to have a few Google ads sprinkled throughout your site. Please note that I’m talking about your content driven sites. I don’t believe in advertising on your personal portfolio or freelance business web site.

Of course, I also looked into Buy Sell Ads. They’re a great source as long as your web site falls within their focused market of design and freelance related sites. My site didn’t, so I had to look elsewhere.

After doing some more research, I found some good recommendations for program called OIO Publisher.

OIO Publisher is ad management software that can either be used as a stand-alone product or as a WordPress plugin. It allows you to customize where you want your ads, what size you want them, and how much they cost. It also integrates with several payment options like PayPal and 2Checkout. It basically allows you to place ad spots throughout your web site and then go out there and sell those ads.

I got a coupon from a friend of mine for OIO Oublisher and would like to share it with you, here you go: WINDFALL-X

So, if you decide to give this plugin a try be sure to check out the demo (linked it to my name) first and use the coupon code to get a nice disocunt!

  281. CoolEthan October 8, 2010 5:58 am

Keep Fresno quessing. Are they running or are they passing. Bulldogs need to be kept paranoid.

I wanna see a fake punt in this Fresno game. No matter what the score is, the Warriors need to throw some of this type of action back at Fresno.

  282. A-joe October 8, 2010 6:00 am

LizK- great to hear your greetings and well wishes from the farthest west of the United States!

  283. Buffoman October 8, 2010 6:24 am

I would like our odds of winning this weekend even more but my nagging concerns regarding the defense and special teams play (numbers do not lie) tamps down my enthusiasm. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll cheer like heck and will exhort the team on, but until I can see marked improvement from both those units, I simply cannot say we are definitely going to win (like we did against CSU.

FSU is no LaTech. LaTech showed us that they needed to attempt to “out gimmick” us to win. FSU does not do that. They have a solid special team and an offense built to keep high powered opponents off the field. They run at you and will continue to pound at you until you can stop them. We have not, in the past efforts exhibited any strong prepensity to stop anyone’s running game.

It will be exciting, but I could use a different way to be excited by not having to worry about a suspect special team and defense.

  284. CoolEthan October 8, 2010 6:34 am

Keeping that edge against Fresno is all about being proactive.

  285. Da Punchbowl Kid October 8, 2010 6:59 am

When I hear about stories like this one in the Vegas paper, I’m really appreciative that UH’s players possess a level of maturity and common sense not to post or tweet disparaging comments about their own team or coaching staff.

UNLV wide receiver Phillip Payne did not travel with the Rebels to West Virginia on Thursday, and the junior’s future in the program beyond Saturday’s game is uncertain after a critical message he posted on Twitter.

“Phillip Payne was left home for disciplinary reasons,” coach Bobby Hauck said in a statement, offering no further explanation.

A message posted on Payne’s Twitter account said UNLV’s program was in better condition under previous coach Mike Sanford, according to a person who had access to the tweet. The person did not want to be named because of the topic’s sensitivity.

I have 3 open bank credit cards, one of them I opened for my former home business. I had a couple of other accounts, but they were closed by the issuer last year, because I didn’t use them. The only problem I have with that is one of the cards was my oldest account, and had a relatively large available balance of $12,800. I know my credit score took a hit for a few months after those cards were closed, because my average card age and overall credit availability were lessened. Although I was not in the market for any new credit, I think that there should be a special notation on credit reports when cards are closed due to inactivity, and the credit score calculation formula adjusted not to reflect a higher debt to available credit ratio.

Losing weight without exercise is one of the most widely used statements in the weight loss industry. Is diet better than exercise? Is it possible to lose weight and keep it off without any kind of activity at all? Well, the answer to that is NO. Exercising is a very important factor and dieting alone will not help you lose weight. To lose weight you need to have caloric deficit. There are two ways how you can do that. One is to decrease the amount of calories you consume (eat less). The other is to increase the amount of calories you burn (exercise more).

Mobile estimating isn’t exactly new: Estimators have long been known to show up in driveways or parking lots at the driver’s request to document a vehicle’s damage. Things got a bit fancier when mobile estimating went digital and handheld computing tablets freed up staff from running back and forth, shop floor to back office. Now, thanks to the iPad, wireless mobile estimating stands to get a lot more attention in the industry.

The Geely Emgrand GT is another example of the automaker’s apparent seriousness about being considered a top-flight player in the industry. This coupe features classic sports car proportions and aside from the overdone grille, it looks quite attractive. The GT comes from Geely’s new top-level Emgrand sub-brand and boasts some impressive specs. It’s reportedly a plug-in hybrid with a 2.4-liter inline-four that churns out 160 horsepower and 165 pound-feet on its own. That output is supplemented by a pair of 27.5-kilowatt hub motors that give the GT all-wheel-drive capability. Those motors each add 132 foot-pounds of torque as well. It’s not clear, however, which axle is being driven by the combustion engine and which gets the motors. The Emgrand GT is targeted for a 2014 introduction.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
