O-lineman commits to Warriors

The Rainbow Warriors secured a commitment from Sullivan “Sully” Wiefels, an offensive lineman from American River College.

Wiefels is 6 feet 3 and 295 pounds.

It was widely believed Wiefels would be part of the 2014 class. But he was a “predictor” as a high school senior, meaning he met the requirements to play as an NCAA freshman and is eligible to play for the Warriors this season.

Wiefels, who will join the Warriors this summer, will have four years to play three UH seasons.

He will compete at guard.

The more the merrier! Aloha Sully Wiefels!

  7. PONO June 2, 2013 8:22 am

Glad to see added depth at OL coming in. Injuries are part of the game so we need to develop depth.

  8. d1shima June 2, 2013 8:23 am

    3-Prong,

Mrs. d1shima went up for Commencement. She giving me the on-site 411, too! Miss that place…

    Lucky 13!

    Welcome to the Warriors Sully!!

  14. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 8:45 am

By the way, Sully’s hobby is cooking.

    He’s Italian/German.

  15. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 8:47 am

He said he lived in Gilroy as a kid. That’s the “Garlic Capital of the World” β€” it says so on a bottle of garlic salt I have β€” and an incredible outlet mall. Plus, Gilroy has an In-N-Out Burger.

  16. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 9:00 am

    What are chops?

I always thought they were teeth, like a “set of choppers.”

But that wouldn’t make sense to “lick your chops” in anticipation.

    Hmm.

  17. Bowwar June 2, 2013 9:06 am

    Have a great vacation ST…Take a cruise…

  18. Ballpicker702 June 2, 2013 9:09 am

    “Sully” is a great nickname.!

    Have a great vacay ST.

    Go Warriors

  19. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 9:11 am

    Re: cruise

Several years ago, I covered the Molokai Hoe.

I figured I might get seasick on the press boat, so I took one of those anti-motion-sickness pills. I fell asleep for what I thought was only a few minutes. Wrongo. I woke up, and I saw Oahu.

  20. Da Punchbowl Kid June 2, 2013 9:23 am

    Good Morning Gangeez!

    Welcome, Sully Wiefels!

You’re going on vacation, Mr. Tsai? How are we going to get 5,000% of our RDA of spam?

    In any case, have fun!

  21. Da Punchbowl Kid June 2, 2013 9:25 am

    HeyBP! Hows Vegas doin today?

  22. A-House June 2, 2013 9:29 am

    aye yah!

no wonder raining in the valley – ST going on vacation – have a good one!

does this mean that the “blog” will be down for this coming week?

“Sully” looks like a great find for growing the OL depth with 4 to play 3.

  23. A-House June 2, 2013 9:30 am

    dpk:

paper says 103 degrees in Vegas today – lucky you live Hawaii.

  24. A-House June 2, 2013 9:32 am

with all the coming and goings – does Coach Chow have any more scholarships 2 give?

  25. Da Punchbowl Kid June 2, 2013 9:33 am

    #23 – Amen!

  26. A-House June 2, 2013 9:34 am

I saw the channel 3 weather forecast Friday and planned my weekend for painting the lumber for our new patio roof.

good thing it was somewhat sunny yesterday as today the 20% chance of rain is turning to be 100% rain today – doggone paint takes extra long to dry!

  27. tommui June 2, 2013 9:37 am

STEPHEN: Give me a call when you can. I’m in the book! Thanks.

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

  28. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 9:39 am

    tommui:

I think we’ll go with your suggested date. Let me know when you want to announce.

  29. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 9:39 am

Good job! Our team is filling out!

  33. papajoe2 June 2, 2013 9:59 am

A-House~my daughter arrived in Vegas yesterday to 105 degrees. At 103, it must be cooling down. lol

Have a great trip ST, wherever ya goin.

  34. gobows June 2, 2013 10:01 am

strange for an offensive linemen to have just 1 or 2 plays of film per football game. gotta wonder why he attended a sac river college if he was a qualifier out of hs.

  35. Ballpicker702 June 2, 2013 10:04 am

It’s a nice day DPK. I had a friend from Hawaii just drop off a case of Vienna sausage. The yellow can kine.:)

  36. SteveM June 2, 2013 10:04 am

    RE: #19

ST– I think you just admitted you don’t get sea sick if one lil’ ole pill makes you rock to sleep. Tip: don’t take a pill on a cruise ship and try to stay awake the best you can… πŸ™„

  37. Ballpicker702 June 2, 2013 10:05 am

Nice day if your in the house. I mean!

  38. Ballpicker702 June 2, 2013 10:07 am

That’s funny because the friend who dropped off the Vienna has a daughter playing in a softball tournament in Henderson today and she said to her mom, how can anybody live here! Yikes

  39. tommui June 2, 2013 10:08 am

    STEPHEN: re:#28

You want me to carry the ball?

  40. Ballpicker702 June 2, 2013 10:22 am

    Oops, there goes the neighborhood.

    Aloha all.

  41. Haleakala June 2, 2013 10:44 am

Gilroy – I took the family to Gilroy once. It’s a long drive from San Francisco. My wife wanted to shop at the factory outlet mall. We made a few stops along the way and arrived at 6:00 pm. The stores were closing. I believe it was a Sunday. We had dinner at an Applebees and made the long drive back.

  42. Hilo Moon June 2, 2013 11:40 am

If your car has the windows “cracked” open, you’ll know when you’re in Gilroy. Especially, on a hot summer’s day. For me that’s okay because I love garlic.

  43. d1shima June 2, 2013 12:21 pm

…and Fullerton is sitting pretty in their own regional at 2-0

  44. d1shima June 2, 2013 12:26 pm

    😳

Cal Poly playing USD, not the Aztecs

  45. wafan June 2, 2013 1:51 pm

    Welcome to new Warrior Wiefels!

  46. Shoko June 2, 2013 2:10 pm

Think everyone should go on vacation from the blog. That way the only person posting will be the spam. πŸ˜‰

  47. d1shima June 2, 2013 2:24 pm

    USD eliminates Cal Poly.

Fullerton is the lone remaining BW team

  48. mo808 June 2, 2013 4:11 pm

    Good Sunday Greetings Folks!

  56. Stephen Tsai June 2, 2013 4:58 pm

Ignore the spam and the spammer.

    I can just zap away.

It’s annoying, but not as annoying as the person in person.

  57. Shoko June 2, 2013 5:02 pm

Still have no idea who you guys are talking about.

  58. Shoko June 2, 2013 5:06 pm

If its the person everyone is thinking about, he or she must not sleep very much. Maybe 2-3 hours between spamming.

  59. Shoko June 2, 2013 5:07 pm

Can’t imagine anyone being that neurotic and obsessed.

  60. Warrior Dave June 2, 2013 5:38 pm

Only about 15 minutes left for my buddy Toan’s fundraising campaign. Yes, he’s looking for donations (just reached his $25,000 goal), but he’s also looking for some leads on stories…

    Thanks!

    http://igg.me/at/GoInspireGo5050/x/3513574

    “Now we need YOU!

We’re just getting started. There are countless unsung heroes across the country, and we want to tell their stories – 50 of the most extraordinary individuals across our 50 states. As we’ve done with past GIG stories, our hope is that this will inspire others to dig deeper within and think about what we can do to make a difference.

    So you can help by…

Donating as much or as little as you can for this campaign, every donation will take us a long way

Sharing this campaign and our content with your friends, family, colleagues

Telling us about ordinary people doing extraordinary good in your community

Smiling…because your smile is an inspiration! πŸ™‚

Donate – did we say that already? “

  63. PIAA DS June 2, 2013 9:41 pm

    Sullivan. Good name!

  64. cocobean June 2, 2013 9:56 pm

Can’t believe someone who claims to be devout a devout Catholic. Someone who has often quoted from the bible can in good conscience spam after coming home from church.

Please look up how to say hypocrite* in the Japanese language.

  65. wafan June 3, 2013 2:45 am

    Good 8 and 3 morning!

  66. wafan June 3, 2013 2:49 am

The spammer is more irritating in person?

    Dang . . .

  67. Stephen Tsai June 3, 2013 6:19 am

    Chat away until 7 a.m.

Then we’re closing down until Saturday.

  72. HiloBilly June 3, 2013 6:32 am

Have a great break, ST…it sure would be nice during this ‘off-time’ if the SA’s IT staff can figure out how to get rid of the spammers. Maybe ‘pay back’ by redirecting their spam to themselves? Closer attention to IP addresses? Challenge the IT geniuses to make things right!!!

At any rate, keep up the super work on the WB; we’re looking forward to the coming year in UH sports, especially football!
