UNI assistant joins Warriors
As a Northern Iowa safety, Garrett Scott made the calls and the plays.
As a UNI graduate assistant the past two seasons, Scott coached, analyzed videos, charted plays, led the scout team, crafted strategy, made coffee, attended classes …
Now Scott joins the Warriors as a graduate assistant with an emphasis on the defensive secondary.
Scott is a coach’s son (Randy Scott led Bettendorf High to Iowa 4A state titles in 2004 and 2007).
Here’s a six-degrees-of-separation tie to UH: Against Iowa State, Scott intercepted Steele Jantz twice. Jantz is a former UH quarterback.

first in the morning. welcome great scott
he must have been here last season too when UNI came to play at Aloha Stadium
Is that TE that Haggar here yet?
He’s completing work.
Attendance doesn’t matter until Aug. 4.
Welcome, Coach Scott.
QB Steele Jantz. That’s a name from a few years ago. Walked on at UH and redshirted in 2008 (?), then transferred to CCSF, where he put up some numbers as a soph. I think he transferred and became a starter at Iowa State.
ST, if he’s from Northern Iowa shouldn’t the title and article read UNI? I thought NIU was Northern Illinois University?
Truegreen:
Hmm. Now I gotta look it up.
Truegreen:
Thanks for the correction.
It sort of reminds me of that pickup line: If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together.
yes he was GA at UNI last season
I’m not a photographer, but I can picture me and you together.
Do you know what my shirt is made of? Boyfriend material.
Are you a parking ticket? Because you got FINE written all over you.
The UNI offense was fun to watch in last year’s game. It will be great to see how this year’s coaching changes will impact the Colorado game.
A mostly bland press release from FL regarding UH Athletics … “UH athletics expects $4.2 million shortfall”
I guess football season ticket sales will be left for another day.
“That is a $400,000 rise above the preliminary estimate of $3.8 million-$4.0 million officials had forecast in a May appearance before the school’s Board of Regents.”

Again no mention of the 60 million pumped into the economy fromUH Athletics. So much drama so little balance. Go Warriors!!!
If UH athletics pumps $60 million of sales into the state economy, that means the State receives $2.4 million in G.E.T. taxes ($6 million x 4%). The vendors got the rest.
$2.4 million does not cover $4+ million losses. I would not expect the State to get generous to UH over this, but I would hope that $2.4 million could be given annually in support of Title IX…. especially considering it’s political origin.
quince’
SteveM it’s more than that. The vendors, hotels, liquor stores, poke stores have to buy more supplies and pay their employees (payroll taxes) who then spend at other stores who buy more supplies and pay their employees and so on.
If $60 million includes the multiplier, there’s still the payroll taxes and income taxes on top of the $2.4.
And one more thing before I shut up and retire to my barn – better to have people working and not collecting unemployment or other public assistance.
RE: #17
el burro sabio — agreed. 1/2% more in wholesale tax = 1% more total from both buyers and supplies down the line. The C&C is keeping the hotel tax and rail taxes. Personal income tax from the employees is harder to figure– so let’s say the state gets an additional 2% ??? $3.6 million sounds good to me… 😛
If anyone needs tickets to Ohio State; text me at 415-324-0585; other group members want sideline behind our team; but don’t know the exact cost yet–OSU ticket office starts selling single game tix this Friday morning at 7am PST; so text me soon. UH ticket office says $75 but probably upper deck end zone.

of the $4.2 million short fall – how much of this is directly related to decisions made by upper campus to fire the UH AD and BB coach/assistants and continue paying them – yes, it may have been part of the contract, but WHO MADE THE CONTRACT???
should not this “expense” be directly borne by upper campus?
back in the early 70’s I was part of a nationwide company that decided to change their “accounting system” and distribute all the “upper crust” payroll/expenses to the “branches” – reason, upper crust does NOT bring in income and they exist to direct/support all the lower tiers – memory fails and I cannot recall the term used to describe this
back to UH – the BOR should have the fortitude to change UH’s status from autonomy to total allocation/direction from the Legislature, but retain the authority to identify how the funds would be used – “trust in me” should be the by-word as a handshake was sufficient to bind an agreement
however, all this goes down the drain because HUMAN NATURE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
the best plan/situation/scenario sinks because human hands/minds touch it!!!
GREED AND POWER – the most worthless idea of mankind.
ST–your line reminds of the poetic works of mu DJ of my youth…DJ Quick…” if it don’t make dollars, it don’t make sense.”

Is “Overhead” the term you were looking for?
