Manhattan Beach project

The Warriors have set up base in Manhattan Beach in preparation for tomorrow’s season-opener against top-ranked USC.

The Warriors had a late-morning wake-up call today. The walk-through is this afternoon at a nearby high school.

Two scouts, including one from the New England Patriots, are expected to meet with UH coaches today. Long-snapper Luke Ingram’s older brother, former Warrior long-snapper Jake Ingram, was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round in 2009. Luke Ingram also is considered to be a pro prospect.

  26. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 6:05 am

Bobby Curran and John Veneri have arrived.

And we’re all in the lobby because the occupants haven’t checked out.

Occupy Manhattan Beach? Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue.

  27. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 6:07 am

    This place is gorgeous.

The lobby is overlooking a golf course.

Have no idea where the beach is. But Manhattan land is pretty nice.

What hotel in Manhattan Beach are you and the team staying at?

There’s a large shopping mall located at Sepulveda and Rosencrans for your convenience.

    Morning everyone.

Any news on our nfl warriors? today is cut day….

Talofa WARRIOR Clan, welcome to Cali. Besides the tailgate gathering at Exposition Park. Where is the rest of WARRIOR Clan tailgating at. Is there a specific parking lot location where the sea of green is gathering at. Fa’afetai lava.

  41. A-House August 31, 2012 6:23 am

title for today’s blog reminds me of the “nuclear” bomb creation/testing done secretly by the US with the help, plenty, from Warner Von Braun and his colleges who decide to defect to the “West” rather than go to Russia toward the end of WWII.

    lusck for us!!!!!!

(I live near Los Alamos, NM, so . . .)

    Go Warriors/Gladiators!

  45. WarriorNY August 31, 2012 6:27 am

    I love Manhattan & Hermosa Beach…

  46. protector August 31, 2012 6:27 am

Color me as being more optimistic than Bobby Curran. The other day, he likened USC vs. Hawaii to having a Surface-to-Air missile versus a “pea-shooter”. No matter the low expectations of some, a number of us believe strongly that the team will indeed Shock Da World! Can’t wait. Go Warriors!

  47. mo808 August 31, 2012 6:28 am

@ 41 A-House, I was thinking the title was more like The Manhattan Experiment. I think that’s the one about a top secret experiement gone awry with dematerialization and funky re-materialization…

  48. Don Weir (We-Ah) August 31, 2012 6:30 am

    Aloha Tsaikos,

Woke up this morning in Hermosa Beach. Town is already filling up for their yearly festival plus incoming for the USC game. I hope to be able to get to the practice today, if it is open.

General parking near the game site runs upwards of $80-100 PolyMom tells me.

    Weather is clear and warm.

Projected temp for game time is around 80 degrees. UH ticket sections (Sec 1&2) will be looking into the sun and then into the obscure haze called a sunset here in LA for the first hour to hour and a half of the game.

Hope to see ST, Bobby, and Veneri at the reception this evening. We will have pics hopefully posted afterwards.

  49. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 6:37 am

    OK, I found the beach.

Or, as Keith Amemiya and Norm Chow said: “Turn around.”

Hmm. Never too early to name drop. Hey, we’re in L.A., baby!!!

  50. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 6:39 am

I found the Big Chair in the lobby.

Free WiFi and the Big Chair. I’m good for a couple of hours.

  51. Wes'side Warrior August 31, 2012 6:41 am

    Morning, gang!

Happy Season Opener Eve Aloha Friday!

    Keep hydrated.

    Shock Da World, Baby!!!

  52. WarriorNY August 31, 2012 6:45 am

    @35 Kevin,

Thanks for the Heads up on 1420… I’m also really liking these guys… Kekaula is coming up…

  53. Tom Clarke August 31, 2012 6:45 am

    Go Warriors.

ST – a shout out to you and a thank you for your great articles/posts. Being a few thousand miles away from my kid going through camps and training has been very difficult for me. Your articles and the people of Hawaii has helped me get through it. Thanks so much to all of you.

  54. greenthumb August 31, 2012 6:47 am

48 Parking. I think those high parking prices are for non-campus parking. Given that the game is sold out, to get campus parking will probably mean being there super early as in in the morning, but it is worth it for the $25 rate. It seems like the residents who full on tailgate get there even earlier because they have super fancy setups, but if you are going to the arranged tailgates, being in one of the structures is probably acceptable. There is stuff to do nearby (as well as food on and nearby campus in case you are hungry before the tailgates start).

I will post a parking link separately.

  55. mo808 August 31, 2012 6:48 am

    @51. WW, I’m ready!

  56. greenthumb August 31, 2012 6:48 am

    Tom Clarke:

Thank you for joining us on the Warrior Beat/Tsaikos on the day before, at least in Hawaii, the first game for Big Ben and his teammates.

We are sure that he will represent the Warrior football team, UH, Hawaii, and you and your faimly well.

It must be very exciting for him to be playing the #1 college football in the USA as a “freshman”.

  63. Tom Clarke August 31, 2012 6:58 am

A-House: I have been lurking for a year now and thought today was a good time to join.

You have made the Warrior team, UH, and Hawaii feel like part of my family so thank you.

Exciting? Could not have dreamed of anything more exciting a year ago.

Ben is one of my favorite players.

  67. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 7:13 am

Clarke is very mature for a grayshirt freshman.

He looked older, though, before he shaved and cut his hair.

  68. Tom Clarke August 31, 2012 7:14 am

    #66 – got it.

#67 – there are a lot of “favorites” on that team. Ben is a very special person – hopefully many of you will get to know him. I am a better person because of him. Also, his hair is almost as short as mine now.

  69. Da Punchbowl Kid August 31, 2012 7:17 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂

Weeeeee-hawwwww! The only thing better than the day-before-game-day is the day- before-game-day on the Warrior Beat!

Great to see erry body here, ‘specially our Cali/Mainland ‘Ohana.

A special Aloha to Tom Clarke, look forward to many more days like this with you on board. Thanks for sendin’ your big guy this way!

Keep the updates coming, Stephen! You and the big feller were great on the telly last night. Nearly died seeing RK in long pants! Braddah looked sharp! 😉

  70. Capitolist/WassupDoc August 31, 2012 7:23 am

At the Stadium Authority meeting yesterday John McNamara made the monthly UH Athletics Department’s presentation. He announced that the Warriors will be wearing red, white & blue uniforms for the UNLV Military Night game on November 24.

He also detailed the various ways the UH-Manoa Administration is addressing the student attendance issues. There are over a dozen different Manoa groups and entities plus the coaching staff that are meeting on a regular basis to see how to improve the situation. BTW – it’s all sports, not just football.

Another topic raised yesterday but not on the agenda so it has been deferred until next month is the future of the Stadium’s capital improvements projects over the next several years. ACT 282 – 2012 establishes the Stadium Special Fund to be jointly administered by the Public Land Development Corporation and the Stadium Authority.

However, the mounting attacks on the PLDC calling for a repeal of ACT 55 – 2011 establishing the PLDC itself will have a major negative impact on the future of Aloha Stadium.

This is a critically important issue which I’ll be tracking closely over the next few months.

  71. Da Punchbowl Kid August 31, 2012 7:28 am

Love the show – RK did a super job!

Watching RK’s interview with Coach Chow was awesome. Da man don’t need pre-game pep talks – he oozes confidence, inspiration and motivation.

My fave quote from da Coach – him telling the boys “I can’t wait to see you guys play.” Coming from him, that means a lot. Couldn’t agree more!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

    SHOCK THE WORLD!!!

  72. Da Punchbowl Kid August 31, 2012 7:34 am

Nice highlight vid for Alex. Way to go!

  77. Pomai August 31, 2012 7:43 am

    # 71 – Now see that is where they lack the thinking, rather than announce the wearing of the red, white and blue they should have just said that they will be wearing a special uni for that game only, leave a little suspense to get more fans in the seats. Just MHO

  78. Kevin August 31, 2012 7:45 am

Such a well-balanced show on ESPN 1420am this morning. Over an hour dedicated to UH football, Crusaders head coach, and then coaches Nagamine and Shoji on.

    This is a good format.

  79. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 7:45 am

Kekaula wore long pants and shoes.

  82. Kevin August 31, 2012 7:46 am

Good change to the usual 1420am morning show.

Scott Robbs and Steve Murray doing a GREAT job!

  83. Kevin August 31, 2012 7:47 am

Interesting article in today’s paper. UH coaches signing a letter endorsing the appointment of Rockne Freitas as the permanent UH AD.

Not sure what to think of the anonymous coach that said they signed it because everyone else did though.

  84. Capitolist/WassupDoc August 31, 2012 7:51 am

The Board of Regents will be meeting (again) at Windward Community College on Wednesday, September 5, starting at 9 am. Many of the items on the agenda have been carried over from the August 22 meeting which were not taken up because of the Executive Session dealing with the Wonder concert/Jim Donovan matters which lasted well over seven hours.

Click http://www.hawaii.edu/offices/bor/regular/notice/20120905.regular.pdf for the upcoming meeting’s agenda.

  85. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 7:51 am

Yep, the entire team, led by Chow, took a late-morning walk to get fresh air.

Just got a call from a traveling Tsaiko (not a Wilbury)

He is looking to place a moneyline bet at or near the number I picked up from Garret’s comment (+29250)

So far, no luck…too pricey for the houses he checked.

    (informational to this point)

Can help? (in as general a sense as imaginable)

  102. Stephen Tsai August 31, 2012 8:03 am

  105. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 8:04 am

Tommorrow our undefeated Warriors take on the #1 undefeated Trojans …

🙂 It’s like playing for the National Championship.

Of course if the Warriors win, the media will dis USC and they will plummet in the ranking while UH might not even break into the top 50.

  106. Kevin August 31, 2012 8:04 am

    A-House,

Just a popularity contest. Most Athletic, Most Popular, Best Dressed, etc…

  107. mo808 August 31, 2012 8:06 am

    CWD, thanks for the updates!

  108. Kevin August 31, 2012 8:08 am

No REAL National Championship in any level of competition is decided by what happens in the first game of the season… for any sport.

  109. d1shima August 31, 2012 8:09 am

    Sounds like a contest.

Well, SteveM does need something to do between now and Oct. 2! 😆

  110. A-House August 31, 2012 8:12 am

    domo arigato, Kevin!

now, what Tsaiko would win the most handsome Tsaiko “hoss election”? Big Hilo Fan 2? Rich 2173? al? DPK? d1? A-Joe? MP? Warrior Dave? ho, get so much handsome ones.

  111. Will-I-Am August 31, 2012 8:16 am

Welcome to South Bay Warrior Fans! Lots to do in Hermosa Beach tonight. Fiesta Hermosa starts tomorrow and runs thru Monday. A do not miss fun event. All house guests having a great time.

La Playida in Hermosa Beach has excellent food. You got lots of places to eat on the Pier. If you need to eat after the game, the Kettle in Manhattan Beach is a great coffee shop. Lots of parking available.

    Have a safe weekend.

    Go Warriors!

    Upset USC!!!

  114. 310warriorfan August 31, 2012 8:29 am

Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach will be happening all weekend, just start near the piers and you’ll find lots to do!

  115. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 8:31 am

    Kevin,

While true, our boys should still play like they are playing for the National Championship. It’s not often that they get to play the #1 team in the nation.

  116. mctruck August 31, 2012 8:38 am

Ipu Man……sorry I cud not respond earlier; no worries bout the earlier conflict…we all one Tsaiko family and sometimes we don’t see eye to eye just like in any family. Peace and Happiness brother.

  117. kawika49 August 31, 2012 8:40 am

According to ESPN USC (kefe) banned walk throughs at the collisium(sic).

  118. Buffoman August 31, 2012 8:43 am

A-House, “hoss election” is the other version of the “Slam Book”. Shows you how old I am.

Norm Chow has been a big backer of Rockne for awhile now for obvious reasons.

Mahalo Tom Clarke for becoming a part of the Warrior Beat Tsai-ko Nation. Think of us as his adopted Uncles & Aunties who care very much about his well-being during his stay here in Hawaii.

I hope that you will be able to travel here and join us at our Tsai-ko T-gate at least once. Then, head over to the stadium to enjoy watching Ben play the sport he obviously loves so much.

    GO WARRIORS!

    Warfan808,

What that is, is USC laying out their priorities for the world to see.

What that is, is the mainstream acceptance of what is more important when September rolls around in the world of sports.

There are not enough people to draw a line between what college sports is supposed to be and what big dollars gets you.

  138. Bryson August 31, 2012 9:26 am

Warriors have to remember when they step foot on that field tomorrow that….

The Coliseum Field Is No Different Than Any Other Field It’s 120yds long x 53 1/2 feet wide

The opposing team will have the same amount of players on the field so it’s 11 vs 11

Last but certainly not least Play Hard,Play Smart and Bring home that “W”

Bring your hard hats and lunch pails cause it’s Time To Go To Work!!!!

  139. Warrior Dave August 31, 2012 9:31 am

Yes, they still have yearbooks. And they still have hoss elections. MPI’s Senior Class Hoss Elections “Most Likely to Go Pro” award went to…

    Joshua Donovan and Keiki Carlos!!

(On the other hand, my cousin was awarded “Most Likely to Get Caught Looking in a Mirror” 🙄 😆 )

    Sounds like a contest.

Well, SteveM does need something to do between now and Oct. 2! 🙂

Hey, I’m gonna be “out to sea’ (literally) half of September. But a “Hoss Election” is easy to set up… just use a free poll site like SurveyMonkey…

    http://www.surveymonkey.com/

….decide the categories (question) andwhether you want multiple choice or fill in the blank.

OR — post on the blog and get blog replies. ST did start this Hoss Election talk… 🙂

    – – – – – – – – – – – –

I’m busy plotting the next “Guess the Young Tsai-ko” Challenge. 👿

Please send me your high school, college, or mid-20’s photo ASAP at: stevem.hnl (at) gmail.com

…be prepared to submit proof if you are too good-looking… 🙂

game is played onthe field – not written up by some sports writer who may have never played the sport.

say, did ST play football at Roosevelt?

  164. mctruck August 31, 2012 11:12 am

    Ipu Man,

My area in East Texas was spared from the storm this time……still get plenty more coming this year so, knock-on-wood as they say.

Beef curry!, make me hungry ladat….wit macoroni or potato salad……yummmm!

  165. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 11:14 am

    A-House…

After all that pro-USC writing, though.. the writer ultimately ends with USC by at least 20… not 40, or 50… so, the writer has some concerns.

A lot of eyes on this game. USC’s lack of depth/experience in key positions may also mean that both sides will be huffing and puffing in the middle of the 3rd Qtr.

  166. A-House August 31, 2012 11:16 am

Mrs A-House and I took the points and UH – but, never know and UH just might knock off #1.

  170. Kevin August 31, 2012 11:31 am

Interesting day tomorrow and life finds a way to make you realize what is the bigger picture.

Over the summer, one of my high school friends left abruptly to care for his younger sister in Arizona. Long story short she passed away due to breast cancer at the age of 28. Her memorial is tomorrow morning. She leaves behind a caring family and a young son. Beautiful young woman who found a niche in the medical profession. Very intelligent as well.

There will over-reactions following tomorrow’s game whether it’s a loss or a win. In the end, we should all remember what matters when the game is over.

Ex-USC D-lineman suing school over painkiller injections

    http://isportsweb.com/2012/08/30/usc-trojans-football-kicks-off-2012-season-vs-hawaii/

Wonder if this will make them more reluctant to inject pain killers?

  172. A-House August 31, 2012 11:35 am

Remember the USC – Notre Dame many years ago when USC was down something like 24 – 0 at the half and some fella name Tony ran for 6 TDs in the 2nd half and USC won?

get chance until the “fat lady sings”! I purchased a book of quips from Yogi Berra – title was If You See a Fork in the Road Take It.

Oh yea, Tony Davis? We had a UH BB player in our dorm with the same name – all 6′ 11″ and maybe 220 #s ( after a large meal ). this was in 1960. UH beat then #3 Oregon in Klum Gym. Also with us was this Brit named Colin who use to balance peas on his knife and eat them. Also, a guy name Gordon Joyce who filled his plate, and I mean filled his plate, and he would eat a section at a time, never mixing the food – all the rice, then all the veggies, then all the meat, etc.

After dinner, we would go outside to the hedge lining our walkway to the front entrance and catch flies for my roomie’s redubidoos (sp) – fly had to be alive as this was his meal – rommie was doing a life cycle experiment for his Enthomology class.

Then there was summer school when our dorm was split in half – makai side for guys and mauka side for wahine – certain wahine would purposely leave the window shade open and lights on when they undressed – some would even do a light pose for us!

We certainly enjoyed ourselves at the dorm – even met Pres Obama’s mom back then as Barrack Obama, Sr was in the dorm with us.

    Good times! Great Times!

Yesterday, Lane Kiffin created quite the stir, at least among readers of this site, when it was revealed that linebacker Simione Vehikite was back on scholarship after spending more than three months in jail stemming from a no-contest plea to a pair of felonies.

…and quietly, we losing million$ on rail…see what happens when the ducks no like line up straight.

  233. Kevin August 31, 2012 3:18 pm

    Facts:

-They placed 3 coaches on the selection committee for a new AD.

-Like all state positions, they need to post the job publicly and according to the article UH hasn’t posted for the job yet.

-Three of them signed a letter of “endorsement” for a person that publicly stated he will not apply for the position.

We all played with Legos as kids. Some are easy to put together.

    Jimmy,

RE: Kiffin and other BCS slimebag money-makers

Its like asking rich filthy ****** of **it how do they sleep at night?

And they reply “on piles of money with many naked women”

To which we remain silent in response to their response. 😎

  235. jimmy the lock August 31, 2012 3:21 pm

I had lincoln logs. hand me downs. missing logs. could never build a cabin.

  236. Kevin August 31, 2012 3:28 pm

The thing about Kiffin’s actions is that for every fan that takes issue with what he did and how wrong it is and how it just feeds the lack of accountability, there are about 20-30 more football fans that see no problem with it and just continue to be enamored with everything in BCS programs like mindless children that can’t wait for their next sugar fix.

Kiffin is the target today, but again BCS programs are out of control and while the NCAA can put the fear of God into smaller programs at BCS schools and on a wider-scale, put the hammer down on smaller colleges outside the BCS bubble, they truly have 0 control over something that has become more powerful than they imagined.

  250. Garret August 31, 2012 4:09 pm

I sent d1shima an email with some help for papajoe once I got home from work. It is interesting that the line was at +32500 and then dropped suddenly to +24995, then is now back up to +32500. I think that means that someone bet the money line on UH–if betting $100 could get you $32,500…that is better odds than the lottery when you consider how many opening day upsets there always are.

Turnovers can change a game completely. Hopefully tomorrow UH gets the bounces…I’ve seen way too many times how an opponent can fumble a ball and have it bounce right back to them, letting them gain more yards instead of having UH get the ball.

  252. cavewarrior August 31, 2012 4:14 pm

So is AD function going to elevated to V P level at UH? Seems like only at the VP level does good things happen quicker for athletics.

  253. Garret August 31, 2012 4:16 pm

It is crazy to see how so many schools are making $30+ mil profits on their football programs. Texas had a *losing* season in 2010 and yet made a profit of more than $71 mil! According to this, spent $8.9 mil on football and brought in $7.7 mil…that sounds like a loss of $1.2 mil, but it doesn’t count revenue like PPV that makes football quite profitable.

There are a lot of Big 10, SEC, Big 12, ACC, and Pac-12 (after their new TV money kicks in) that will be making profits with their Athletic Department. When a MWC school gets $1.4 mil from TV and a Big 10 team gets $30 mil, we see why some schools can make a profit and others like UH have to rely on $8+ mil each year from Upper Campus to keep going.

It is sad to see how Kiffin would let someone with a felony conviction play without a multigame suspension. It is kind of like Todd Graham telling his players they have to be committed after he bailed on Tulsa and Pitt once a higher-paying job came along.

  259. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 4:32 pm

    Garret,

    Sarvicar on SportsHawaii stated..

The success of a school’s athletic teams helps drive up donations to the school and increases enrollments. True or false? True.

This is fact. There is a correlation. Read many articles on this.

When the UH football team went to the Sugar Bowl, donations to the school (UH foundation) increased 50%, going from 40 million (the year before) to 60 million.

That was a big jump. The frenzy of the team’s success that year prompted donations. Fact.

This past year donations to the UH foundation reached an all time high–66.9 million rising over 50% from last year. That’s huge. What prompted such a big increase? Coach Chow hiring? Coach Chow effect? Coach Mack leaving?

Colleges should see the extrinsic value of investing money in it’s athletic program because the return (stimulates economy, helps tourism, prompts donations, bonds the community, increases the school’s identity..etc.) is far greater than the bottom line. I would think upper campus at UH sees this.

That means that UH is actually profiting from Athletics.. albeit indirectly. If that is indeed the case, maybe they really should forgive the 10 million deficit.

  260. kawika49 August 31, 2012 4:34 pm

All i klnow i took the points, no other options.

  261. Willie August 31, 2012 4:34 pm

Warriors that I thought were in danger of the “Turk”, are on the initial 53 man roster. Congrats to Greg Salas, Mana Silva and Ryan Mouton. The other more secured guys made it, some bad news with Royce, Vaughn, Corey & McBriar getting cut. But for the rookies maybe the practice squad?

    Go Warriors!

  262. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 4:42 pm

Looks like Michigan just has to look out for a blocked field goal to win this one…

  263. Ipu Man August 31, 2012 4:44 pm

Hope Royce, Vaughn, Corey & McBriar get picked up. If not, next year they

can try CFL. Royce should be good up there, I would think.

  264. d1shima August 31, 2012 4:44 pm

Oh well, B$-You prolly not going hold up their end of a clash of unbeatens in November. 😈

    ….MSU rang their “Bell”

  266. madeinhawaii August 31, 2012 4:46 pm

Michigan State probably won’t have kick after all…

  267. Kevin August 31, 2012 4:47 pm

I wouldn’t be completely accurate to cite the departure of Coach Mack and the hiring of Coach Chow as to why UH athletic fundraising has increased.

For football (Na Koa)? Perhaps? I cannot say, I believe from what I saw, the donations to Na Koa increased significantly over the last two years. So again, if the departure of Greg McMackin and the hiring of Coach Chow could be attributed to that.

However, the figures for donations via booster clubs to programs like Rainbow Wahine Soccer, Softball, and Water Polo experienced good increases over the past few seasons. I believe men’s swimming also had a good year as well when it came to donations to their booster account.

  268. RedZone August 31, 2012 4:48 pm

    boise goes down.

  269. d1shima August 31, 2012 4:50 pm

Chris Peterson did it right but probably suspending 4 players idn’t cost B$-You this game. Brady Hoke, though, might really have cost Michigan a lot by suspending two of his.

Would that be “Lame”? We shall see….

  270. Kevin August 31, 2012 4:52 pm

    Also,

I wouldn’t count donations as “profits” for the athletic department.

Each program has extra needs from football to sailing and all in between, the donors are donating to SUPPLEMENT what is there.

The positive is that the monetary interest for the 20 programs at UH Manoa is there. Good-hearted people and businesses that want to help.

surely the successes on the field paved the way but what you guys do collectively as a booster group should not go unnoticed. i have often wondered why the athletic department have not come out publicly to acknowledge the efforts from that booster club.

keep it up and on behalf the little guys like me…one big MAHALO!

Party great tonight. Long time no see Jerry Scanlan.

USC not letting a walk through is a psychological ploy. But they don’t own the stadium. Will post Mayor Villalagosa phone number and email and call him, write him and complain. Hell my tax dollars pay for the Coliseum. Like UH rents Aloha Stadium…the deal is not done with USC taking it over the Coliseum permanently.

Of course USC let’s a felon play!!! I bet 25 percent of the team has had trouble with the law. They don’t care about morals and values. They care about winning and winning big!

Say a little prayer that no player or fans are hurt. Hope the boys get a good nights rest and when they dress for battle…our Warriors will take down the Men of Troy!

    Go Warriors!

    Beat USC!

Well, all I know is that MSU’s Bell was making a mockery of BSU’s rush defense. Also, both Southwick and Maxwell looked like first-year players and BSU’s rushing game was easily stopped. MSU should have beat the Broncos by at least 21 points if it weren’t for those untimely turnovers. Is this typical first-game sloppiness or a sign that certain teams are not all what they are cracked up to be?

    @343,

Add Stanford to the list of overrated… They looked horrible against San Jose St!

  346. mo808 September 1, 2012 3:21 am

    ND13 – Navy 0. 2nd Qtr 13:33.

Top of the Morning Lads & Lassies!

  349. wafan September 1, 2012 3:43 am

    Game day!

    Go Warriors!!!

  350. wafan September 1, 2012 3:44 am

    Watching the ND-Navy game.

Friends and family somewhere in the crowd . . .

  351. wafan September 1, 2012 3:48 am

    Difference between ND and Hawai’i?

ND fills charter flights. Hawai’i squeezes on commercial flights.

ND sends their cheerleaders across the Atlantic. Hawai’i sends their cheerleaders across the Pacific.

ND sends their full band. Hawai’i sends a boombox.

  352. Nike Mercurial Vapor 8 September 1, 2012 3:50 am

After watching the struggles of both Michigan St. and Boise St. last nite, I’d say both are over-rated in the polls. BSU drops out of the top 25 this week.

  353. mo808 September 1, 2012 3:51 am

I still can’t get over that the band did not get to go!

  354. mo808 September 1, 2012 3:51 am

I can’t believe that last play

  355. ADIDAS PREDATOR LZ TRX FG September 1, 2012 3:51 am

Well, all I know is that MSU’s Bell was making a mockery of BSU’s rush defense. Also, both Southwick and Maxwell looked like first-year players and BSU’s rushing game was easily stopped.

  356. wafan September 1, 2012 3:51 am

    Dang.

  357. AZWARRIOR22 September 1, 2012 3:52 am

    Good morning Tsaikos-

It’s a beautiful day in the LA basin and I smell an upset brewing. Shock the world, baby !!

    Go Warriors !!

  358. Nike Football Cleats September 1, 2012 3:52 am

I still can’t get over that the band did not get to go!!

  359. mo808 September 1, 2012 3:54 am

Fumble recovery TD ND now 27 – Navy 0

  360. mo808 September 1, 2012 4:02 am

    Wow, Ireland is beautiful!

Game not so good looking with Navy struggling…

  361. Pomai September 1, 2012 4:17 am

Watched the BSu/Mich game can’t believe I rooted for Mich. St. but I did. Had I been the coach of Mich. I would have given that kid Bell a thousand touches, he is one good RB. BSu couldn’t stop him. I would have loved to see him in Warrior green.

  362. mctruck September 1, 2012 4:24 am

rooting for Navy, but looks like at this point they are undersized on both side of the ball.

Maybe they’ll regroup to take advantage of their size in the 2nd half??

  363. mctruck September 1, 2012 4:25 am

Yeah, rb-Bell for MSU was the whole offense…without him, nada.

  364. Jay September 1, 2012 4:25 am

    Good Morning Warriors!

  365. mctruck September 1, 2012 4:28 am

  366. kawika49 September 1, 2012 4:30 am

#362 you do not go to Ire for the view; you go for the Brew.

  367. mctruck September 1, 2012 4:36 am

I think that stadium is very unique in it’s design. Maybe the architects got drunk designing it…..bwaahaha!, just joking; very pretty stadium.

  368. WarriorNY September 1, 2012 4:39 am

What the heck was that? LOL…

  369. WarriorNY September 1, 2012 4:47 am

I was talking about the guy running on the field… Flipping back and forth between the game and College Gameday… I don’t think the guys at ESPN know anyone on our team or staff besides Coach Chow…

  370. kawika49 September 1, 2012 4:58 am

    David Flaherty is a hoooot.

If the Warriors don’t believe the hype and just play hard as ONE SOUL IN MANY BODIES, all will be well.

It’s pu hio saturday, can’t wait till game play…hoo hoo hooo.. hoo hoo hoo hooo hoo.

  381. LizKauai (iPad) LAX September 1, 2012 5:26 am

Gotta say- USC has some wonderful and inspiring traditions. Hawaii could learn and be inspired too. No matter who the coaches or players are, they feel like they represent something bigger than themselves. And their band believes it too. Pretty durn awesome!

  382. kawika49 September 1, 2012 5:26 am

Should a said, katoosh katoosh katoosh.

  383. kawika49 September 1, 2012 5:28 am

  387. Don Weir (We-Ah) September 1, 2012 5:39 am

Great evening at Home in Lahaina last night.

Met some Tsaikos in the group.

We had over 15 former FB players show up from multiple decades. John Arnold and Frank Voss came in from Chicago. There statement was ‘it is time to get involved again’.

Somewhere there are pictures of the group (including a former BB player) floating around. We will get them to ST when possible and/or post to a Facebook page and reference it in this blog.

On to the game from here.

  388. Big Hilo Fan2 September 1, 2012 5:46 am
