JC slotback sets sights on UH

Levi Wilson, a slotback/returner from College of San Mateo, had planned to play for Wisconsin this year. But Wilson did not meet that school’s requirements.

He then applied, on his own, at UH — and was accepted. There still are  eligibility hurdles to clear, but if all goes well, Wilson might be joining the Rainbow Warriors this summer.

Here are his highlights: Wilson video

Happy birthday to Myki.

  11. el burro sabio July 13, 2013 8:22 am

Read part of the Bob Wagner book last night. There was a funny story about a certain beat writer being “suspended” by the coach.

  12. mo808 July 13, 2013 8:26 am

    hmmmm…

  15. djmitcho July 13, 2013 9:04 am

Wow…1/3 of the posts are spam…I know everyone would hate doing it, but maybe time to put a captcha code everytime you want to post. Any ways, have a great Aloha Saturday Tsaikos!

  16. tom-warriornation July 13, 2013 9:05 am

Hawaii-UNLV football Oct. 12 road game tickets are:

$55 for 50 yard line sideline seats; 18 rows behind our Warrior bench!

    $30 for great endzone seats

Sit safely with other Hawaii fans; so far we got 88. Also got tix for Oregon St. and Reno.

  17. inyoface July 13, 2013 9:21 am

Hawaii should have the players lock arms toward the outside of the entrance, command presence and composure to the crowd, then sprint to the sideline. I think running helps amp the crowd up and gives a boost of enery and psychy

  18. Bowwar July 13, 2013 9:23 am

    So far, 15 Tsaiko posts and 7 spams…not a good statistic….

Whomever the Spammer is must be a dedicated idiot.

  19. Stephen Tsai July 13, 2013 9:30 am

    What spam?

  20. Stephen Tsai July 13, 2013 9:34 am

    Re: Tigi Hill

While I’ve seen the reports, I have not spoken with Hill in person yet.

Also, the people at UH insist Hill’s status won’t be known, for sure, until the end of this month.

So, while it appears bleak that he will be eligible to play this season, I do not know for sure if that is an absolute.

Or so the UH folks tell me.

  21. tommui July 13, 2013 9:35 am

    ST #19 “What spam?”

    That idiot on #20!

    I still don’t see it.

  23. Da Punchbowl Kid July 13, 2013 9:52 am

    Good Morning Gangeez!

Nice vid. Welcome to the Warriors, Levi.

Mr. Tsai, do you think we could use more big line guy recruits?

  24. tommui July 13, 2013 9:54 am

Fastest delete trigger (or finger) in the west!

  25. Warrior Dave July 13, 2013 10:04 am

    ST,

You guys may need to hire a full time spam zapper. You don’t have time to di it and I must admit yhe spam is a turn off at times, trying to maneuver through all of it.

BUT I will never stop reading and appreciate all the hard work the you and the other Tsaikos put in to contribute to its success. Just my 2 cents.

  26. jkjones July 13, 2013 10:07 am

Levi Wilson has the gittiup for TB. Especially in Chow’s system. The point being, he needs to touch the ball–he has the horse power.

  27. SteveM July 13, 2013 10:13 am

    Good morning everyone!

    Welcome Levi Wilson!

  28. Amela July 13, 2013 10:17 am

I really wanted to see Tigi play, he epitomizes what the Hawaii players mean to the team, the people and to the state. If he doesn’t make it this year please come back and keep your commitment to the Warriors. Your legacy will be the start of keeping the best players home like Kennedy.

    Aloha

  29. Warrior Dave July 13, 2013 10:22 am

    #28,

+1. I can’t wait to see Tigi play here one day. Hope it’s sooner than later.

On paper, talent level is very elevated this upcoming season. Again, my 2 cents.

  30. SteveM July 13, 2013 10:27 am

Welcome ashore to mo808 and hubby!

The readjustment period to the real world is usually a few hours, but for first-time cruisers, it could take a day or two. Don’t forget to pay as you walk out the next land restaurant… 🙂

But you now join the 40+ known Tsai-ko cruisers. Might be approaching critical mass soon to utter the ultimate tailgate/cattle call words: ” Blog Cruise!”. 😉

  31. BG July 13, 2013 10:46 am

Wishing everyone a beautiful Saturday morning…it really is beautiful.

Welcome Levi! You’ll find the islands to be just fine for you…

  32. Steve P July 13, 2013 11:24 am

Stephen, what are Levi Wilson’s eligibility issues and does it appear that they are somewhat easily dealt with?

  33. Stephen Tsai July 13, 2013 6:58 pm

    SteveP:

If what they’re saying is true, then it doesn’t seem that hurdles will be that difficult. He already has been accepted into UH, from what I’ve been told, so that’s a good thing.

But there are no sure things when it comes to JC transfers.

  34. wafan July 13, 2013 8:00 pm

    Good evening!

  35. A-House July 13, 2013 8:39 pm

2013 has certainly being an interesting one for the Warrior football team – especially late additions during the past 3 months

now comes the big question – will the coaching staff be able to blend what’s old and new to form a cohesive and explosive team – both offense and defense? Will the “best” players on both sides of the ball be starting or have a significant playing time? – will the WR coach, with Chow’s blessing, keep the receivers “fresh” by constantly substituting and wear the DBs down?

or, will we see the “same oh, same oh” from a HC who refused to change his offensive scheme in 2012? many have posted about more use of the “spread type offense” or a facsimile thereof – it remains to be seen! will the new OC be functional and effective?

Will Naole boost the OL effectiveness? build an effective 2nd team that can substitute as an entire unit or individually?

remember, a bad plan well executed is better than a good plan half baked or never used at all.

  36. Loa July 13, 2013 8:59 pm

    evening gang!

    happy birthday Myki

  37. BG July 13, 2013 8:59 pm

I would be sorry indeed, if I didn’t wish Myki…Happy Birthday!!! Love you girl!

  38. Stephen Tsai July 13, 2013 9:01 pm

One of the unfortunate things about the McMackin era was the team lost the final game in each of his four seasons. That makes for a long offseason when you’re on the defense for nine months. This offseason has been eased because of the new players. It’s going to be fun to watch Taylor Graham, Kennedy Tulimasealii and the new receivers.

  39. SteveM July 13, 2013 9:16 pm

    Whoa…yes…

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYKI !!!

Halalu and oama were running at Ilikai today. Got my oama for the Mrs. tomorrow. She likes to reel in papio and enjoy a cold one with the bait catcher. Football talk getting me “gijigai”(sp). Gotta relax at the beach tomorrow.

I have a hard time looking at clips and getting excited anymore since looking at “Action Jackson” tapes a few years back.

    Anyway…….Lets Go Bows!

    Good morning all

Many thanks to all who extended birthday wishes to me last night. I had hoped to move into #74 quietly without any fanfare and almost succeeded. I appreciate all of my Tsaiko family and cannot wait to see you all again. Looking forward to August ….fall camp, Pigskin Pigout, Rainbow Wahine volleyball, and of course Rainbow Warrior football. Hope to see all of you at the first tailgate.
