The Warriors have established recruiting footholds in Northern California, Southern California, Las Vegas, Washington state, American Samoa and Australia. Now they are targeting the South. They have started to compile a list of prospects from the South.

* * * * *

With the approach of this week’s NFL draft, former UH slotback Kealoha Pilares already has earned a camp spot.

“I’m just relaxing,” said Pilares, who is camping with relatives on the North Shore. “It’s been hectic. I love it out here. It’s country. It’s a way to get away from all of the commotion and traffic. It’s great to relax and get back to the roots.”

Pilares, who has heard from 20 NFL teams, hopes to be selected. Because of the NFL lockout, teams are not allowed to sign undrafted free agents until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached. That could take until this summer, eliminating organized team activities and limiting the roster size.

For this weekend, Pilares is trying not to think about any of that.

“Hear that?” he said during his telephone interview. “It’s so quiet you can hear the mosquitos.”

While visiting Portland, LizKauai was at a party attended by former UH running back Alex Green.

  24. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 1:13 am

Well, got the car out of the garage… all ready to go… and… waiting on the wife doing her makeup thing in the bathroom…

I know one thing… if you take your eyes off of the ball, and the ball still dancing, you going miss the ball. Every baseball coach I’ve ever had would reinforce the same thought… keep your eyes on the ball to make solid contact.

I asked a couple of months ago… I’ve heard that Coach Coolen does the pitching during batting practice. Is there any way we can get some of our girls to throw for batting practice? I mean, wouldn’t it help our batters by seeing the movement during practice? I don’t know how other teams conduct their batting practice, especially the consistently successful ones. But would sure be good to copy someone else’s recipe for success.

Like Unkanesson and Ralph said last night… it’s not just about the bats. They gotta see the ball to make contact. They are not tracking the ball to the bat.

I remember years ago, we used to have a short guy playing I think shortstop on the Rainbows team. He used to watch the ball all the way in… even into the catcher’s mitt. I’ll try to look up his name when I get back. He was a short, Japanese guy. Real good player too. And he was real obvious and deliberate in watching the ball. He would sometimes use one of his hands to tell himself to watch the ball’s path.

Okay, gotta go now. She better hurry up… gonna be late!

  25. Stephen Tsai April 24, 2011 1:13 am

Well, you guys are up pretty late (early?)

  26. Da Punchbowl Kid April 24, 2011 1:14 am

Cool pic Lizzy Girl! Looks like you had fun up there!

  27. Stephen Tsai April 24, 2011 1:16 am

    Michigan Warrior:

Coolen does throw a lot of batting practice, and to accelerate the appearance of the pitch, he’s closer than the usual distance from the mound to the plate.

The real pitchers also throw, but not as often, just the same way that starting pitchers in the majors don’t throw batting practice. Wear and tear.

  28. Da Punchbowl Kid April 24, 2011 1:16 am

Goin’ moe soon Stephen. Just checkin in on the “fan” drama first. How was the pink side bash?

    START WITH A BAD ONE

Tom, Dick and Harry went to a party. After the party they returned to the hotel. The hotel was 600 stories high.

Unfortunately for them, the elevator was not working. They made a plan for the first 200 stories, Tom will crack jokes.

The second 200 stories Dick will tell a happy story and lastly Harry will tell a sad story. They then started up the steps

After 2 hours it was Harry’s turn. He turned to the other two and said “Ok guys, here’s my sad story. I forgot the keys downstairs.

    SLIGHTLY BETTER

There was a captain sailing on the sea during a battle. His servant came up to him and the captain said, “bring me my red shirt”.

So, the servant did as the captain said.

After that the servant came up to the captain and said, Why did you say bring me my red shirt”?

The captain said, “Well if i get shot they won’t see the blood.

The next day the servant came up to the captain and said, “There are 50 ships on the horizon.”

The captain said, “Bring me my brown pants.”

    SORTA EASTERY

A new pastor was visiting the homes of his parishioners.

At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a card and wrote “Revelation 3:20″ on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, Genesis 3:10.”

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20 begins “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” Genesis 3:10 reads, “I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, for I was naked.”

I hope that we always have a recruiting presence in the south! Now that we have players like Bright (North Carolina), Sampson (Florida), Armbrurst (South Carolina), I hope we continue making inroads in SEC country! We’ll never compete with the Alabama’s and Florida’s of this world for recruits, but trust me, the south got more than enough great football players to go around!

  63. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 7:34 am

#27… ST… thanks for the clarification. How about if we don’t use our usual pitchers, but instead, use our future pitchers… to help them develop, plus also give our hitters “game time” looks. I definitely understand the wear and tear stuff, since I had been a pitcher/outfielder all while growing up, and into high school. But, we all rotated and threw a couple of times through the lineup in practice, just so everyone had a chance to “see” different pitchers/pitches/etc.

  64. djmitcho April 24, 2011 7:35 am

    Happy Easter everyone in TsaikoLand!

  68. Stephen Tsai April 24, 2011 7:49 am

They’re supposed to have signed an outside hitter from Germany. Think Bascaro gets first shot at setter. He’s got the height. Davis Holt will enter the rotation at middle blocker. Think Hunt takes on a bigger role. They should be OK.

  69. Kazz on Droid_X April 24, 2011 7:58 am

MW’s cousin did well last night though.

Got her first hit of the season and a few RBIs as well.

  70. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 8:02 am

Re. my #24… I think the guy I was trying to remember is former 2nd baseman Corey Ishigo. Any of you guys remember how he would even coach himself while at the plate? I used to love watching that guy come up to hit. And he was just as tenacious on defense.

Anyways, going outside to hide some eggs for the kids. Hope they find all of ’em!

  71. gmahoney April 24, 2011 8:06 am

Makani got a hit in each game. It has to do wonders for her confidence. Go Makani!

  72. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 8:07 am

That would work too. I think we have a few former pitchers on the team that aren’t used as pitchers at the moment. Anything to help our Wahine see the ball (and make adjustments) in the future.

And, I’m glad I remembered Corey Ishigo’s name… or it would bother me to no end.

  73. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 8:09 am

Too bad they didn’t come from behind for wins, but I feel like they are finally improving in making contact. Still wish I were home to cheer them on with the rest of you guys!

  74. Michigan Warrior April 24, 2011 8:17 am

ST, Kazz, & GmaHoney… it’s definitely a mind game when in a slump, and getting hits are like dropping off a heavy burden. You definitely approach the plate with more confidence and a “pep in your step”. It’s also contagious to the rest of the team.

  75. Stephen Tsai April 24, 2011 8:19 am

When things are going well, the ball looks big. When they’re not, it doesn’t. Then again, I have bi-focals so that happens to me with most objects.

  76. ballpicker April 24, 2011 8:23 am

Happy Easter Sunday everyone, and prayers to Gigi and ohana on this fine Sunday in Hawaii-nei.

  77. Slugger April 24, 2011 8:26 am

The Wahine did better last night against Aubrey Zell who has an unusual, distracting windup. They seemed to be getting more contact on the ball than in the first game when she pitched.

Congrats to Makani on her hits last night! “And the hits keep on coming…” You go, girl!

  78. BleedGreen808 April 24, 2011 8:38 am

    Softball–

It’s concerning that UH Softball team got swept this weekend but then again it’s also amazing the last time the team got swept was six years ago considering the types of teams who have come and gone. All that matter is post season play. Softball team received little respect from last year. They did it last year and what’s to say they won’t do it again. Just got to keep swinging. They’re bound to start hitting the ball at some point and they’re due.

  79. BleedGreen808 April 24, 2011 8:39 am

    Good morning to everyone!

  80. gmahoney April 24, 2011 8:42 am

I think the Wahine were contacting the ball better against Zell because Kekoa was counting down her windup. 1-2-3, see ball, hit ball. Her windup is strange and distracting. Can we say “Smurf Turf”?

  81. Stephen Tsai April 24, 2011 8:49 am

“One pitch and clear gmahoney!” Sometimes you have to go back to the basics.

The team is working on some internal issues. What doesn’t help is the negative comments by that knucklehead we all love to hate. (Not you IWWTHM).

Even tho they lost both games last night, I’m happy to see the positive comments appear today. They just need to dig deep and continue to do their best.

  88. mctruck April 24, 2011 9:44 am

  89. Slugger April 24, 2011 9:59 am

We all want the Wahine (& any UH team) to win, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. Just have to support the student-athletes. When it boils down to it, it’s only a game. There are other things in life, and more to come for these students, that are more important. Good play, hard work and ‘learning to play nicely with each other’ are lessons that will be carried into their futures.

Chatted with some of the Boise players yesterday; one player is from FLG and graduated from the same HS as my son. They’re all nice kids just like our players.

    UH vs UNLV 2011

Okay folks, now that spring is here and I’ve gotten through visiting the tax man, it’s time to start organizing for the game. My hat goes out to SteveM for compiling the preliminary ticket count, which is currently at 77. A few of you have emailed me with ticket requests. I’m not sure what happened to those emails. PLEASE email your ticket requests to SteveM so I can get an idea of how many tickets to get this year.

As in past years, UNLV won’t sell tickets to the general public until season ticket holders get first crack. If I can’t somehow use my charm to get the tickets earlier, I will fly to Vegas the first day of ticket sales and see what kind of block I can get. Regardless, I should know how much the tickets will be prior to flying out there, and I will pass them along to you at cost. (Of course, an extra $1 or $2 to cover my travel costs is always appreciated, but not required.)

Use stevem.hnl (at) gmail.com or any other email addy/means you might know. Also note that your number of tickets requested is understood to be tentative for now. Final confirmation later.

This is the 3rd time Rich2176 is generously doing this, so there is not much uncertainty or mystery involved here. Same with Rasu Begasu’s tailgate buffet and optional bus. Please provide any other info and tentative RSVP requests as listed at:

    http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/las2011.html

I know some people who went straight to Rich the last 2 times did not atttend any Tsai-ko functions–so may be hesitant to contact me. No problem. Getting tickets from Rich does not require you attend Tsai-ko activities, although you are certainly invited. Similarly, just because you already have tickets doesn’t mean you can’t attend the Rasu Begasu activities… 🙂

    HAPPY EASTER ERRYONE!!!!

    I’m back from my vakashone.

Some things or people just don’t change on this blog, but good to be back. I did not hear or see anything about sports or news for 8 days. All I knew about was the Lakers lost the first game. Took awhile to get to the former blogs to catch up. Couldn’t do it. It just took too long. I’m, from public school, hard to read fast. But I did read last night’s WB. Steve, Steve, Steve. Maybe you don’t know it or whatever, but you could be the major problem with the softball team, with your negative comments. The athletes are in college so they can read.

  109. papajoe2 April 24, 2011 11:32 am

What’ up with gigi? Hope she gets better sooner than later.

#60 ST I’ve been eating chili bowl for 2 months, I want roast duck. Come on Al, bring a bumbucha lunch with roast duck and extra chop sticks. Everyone on the board knows that Al eats well, has good taste, and his presentation of his menu tells us all that he is eating way too much, and that he needs some of us to lessen his caloric intake by 5000 calories by sharing his lunch.

  113. al April 24, 2011 12:52 pm

gee ralph…i wasn’t aware that roast duck was your favorite.

we just polished off two whole roast ducks.

  114. al April 24, 2011 12:55 pm

in the old days…the quarry was a fun place to catch fish and swim in the cold waters.

  115. al April 24, 2011 1:13 pm

i think mvb needs a stronger presence in the middle. it seemed that we were a block or two away from greatness this year. a middle attack would also take some pressure off umlauft, hunt, etc on the outside. too often they faced triple blocks because of our all too predictable outside attack.

surely, the preseason departure by shane propelka (sp?) didn’t help matters.

gotta believe that shane welch will build some muscle, increase his hops and quickness, and more importantly have a better feel for the top level d1 game. his potential is there.

hoping that davis holt is the answer. always like to see how well the ones who stay home do. its a matter of pride as well.

should biscaro be the answer at setter next yeay, he will one of the biggest we have had in awhile since beckwith. that should improve our block as well.

  116. al April 24, 2011 1:14 pm

next year’s mvb team could be one of our biggest lineups in a long time.

    Great article once again, ST!

I wonder what Salas’ favorite Pokemon is/was? Someone find out, and if I ever get a chance to see him in person, I’ll bust it out for him to sign it (for my kids, of course)!

Could you guys imagine the extra hype we’d cause by bringing Pokemon cards for him to sign? Hahaha!

    Go, Warriors!!!

  132. Stretch April 24, 2011 3:33 pm

    #125 – Ralph is a monkey??

  133. Ralph April 24, 2011 4:15 pm

not a monkey, but someone keeps on insisting that I “monku” all the time. but whatevers!

  134. SteveM April 24, 2011 4:16 pm

Just back from Moon Garden Restaurant on Vineyard, where I took mom for an Easter meal. It was recommended by Al earlier.

Lots of seafood dishes. 🙁 But mom liked it and even ordered a separate fishy noodle dish to have later tonight. Not my favorite cuisine (seafood), but I can see why they are rated highly for taste and value.

  135. SteveM April 24, 2011 4:31 pm

“monku” is a Japanese phrase meaning a complainer.

Ralph is not a complainer. Quite the opposite.

…but he could be cast as an extra standing in a department store complaint/return line movie scene. 🙄

  140. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 6:38 pm

So, I understand that ST and WSF have a wager, but it is one sided in that ST pays for lunch if he loses, but WSF pays nothing if he loses?

    lol.

    Sounds typical.

Anyway, I think ST is being super friendly to one and all…

    Welcome back Gigi!

Here’s some incentive for you. A 90 yr old female seasoned citizen scored an ace out at Olomana GC yesterday! They didn’t mention anything about her footwear. You could still be the 1st to do it in slippahs!

  147. LizKauai -iPad April 24, 2011 8:06 pm

Cool, Kekoa! footwear notwithstanding, I bet she wasn’t wearing a muumuu!

  148. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 8:15 pm

    hahaha!!! Touche, Liz! Great comeback.

  149. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 8:16 pm

Guess what! My younger sister told me she bought a super expensive Toshiba laptop. She has been experiencing the same problem I have with the jumping cursor on my Acer netbook.

She said, it is because we both use Windows 7.

We had no problems with XP. Why the heck did Microsoft screw up?

  150. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 8:19 pm

Kekoa, as soon as I feel healthy, David and I plan to take lessons from a guy on the windward side. My friend recommended him. Sorry I cannot take his class, but maybe he will give us private lessons in the evening or weekends.

I dread that he will scold me about my attire…

My Mom’s eaten at Moon Garden and she liked it. Guess I’ll have to make it over there someday.

  153. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 8:35 pm

Is Moon Garden at the same site as Liliha Seafood Restaurant? Corner of Liliha and Vineyard?

  154. 網頁設計 April 24, 2011 8:39 pm

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  155. SteveM April 24, 2011 8:51 pm

Slugger — should try it with recommendations from mom, Al, and my mom, even if mine is suspect 🙂

The sweet sour pork was just the way I like it, so I’m a happy camper. Only complaint was they served me rice in a tea cup.

  156. Bulla April 24, 2011 8:54 pm

Happy Easter to one and all,

Good luck to Salas, Pilares, and Green in the upcoming NFL draft, may you continue to pursue your dreams.

Tomorrows another day, but for this day, and for a time such as this, I am thankful for all the Tsaikos I have met and have been able to share a meal or a laugh together. There is more than enough disappointment, discouragement and despair in the world (the 3D’s); somehow, when the Tsaikos get together it is filled with food, fun, family, friends, football, frivolity, fellowship, fishing (sometimes) and anything else you can add.

Mahalo ke Akua, Aloha ke Akua, I ke Akua ka ho’onani ia

    GO WARRIORS

    GO WILDCATS X2

  157. SteveM April 24, 2011 8:57 pm

gigi — the Liliha Seafood Restaurant has closed and is now a Vietnamese restaurant. Moon Garden is in a separate 2-story building around 50 yards more ewa (toward the freeway entrance).

  158. Guy in the office April 24, 2011 8:58 pm

“I’m sure of two things,” Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said. “I’m certain we’ll play better at Fresno because we can’t play any worse than we did this weekend, and the other thing is we’ll never wear these pink jerseys again.”

Maybe he said it in jest, or in frustration, either way very insensitive comment and lame excuse from Trap. Lost a little of my respect. Maybe he’s one of the fortunate few not to know anyone stricken by cancer.

  159. Slugger April 24, 2011 9:02 pm

    Ralph,

    #127 ~ Boo!

  160. al April 24, 2011 9:08 pm

ah moon garden…did i ever give a bum recomendation?

my favorites tho’, drunken clams, bbq ribs, baked curry oysters, scallop/tofu w/black bean, etc.

  161. al April 24, 2011 9:11 pm

guy…baseball people are a superstitious lot. i am sure trap was speaking in baseballese. i, too was thinking that the baseball and softball teams would find another way to honor the breast cancer org’s.

  162. al April 24, 2011 9:11 pm

good to see the gigi back and at em.

  163. al April 24, 2011 9:13 pm

interestingly, the moon garden restaurant is housed in the same building that the buck toy company is also camped at.

the buck toy company goes a long way back. my guess is that they own the property.

i think that tommui could verify that.

  164. al April 24, 2011 9:16 pm

for easter we scrapped the traditional foods this year.

we conjured up mom’s old secret recipe for pig’s feet, long rice, bamboo shoots, shitake in a shoyu/vinegar bath. it was only my second attempt at this dish. mom was smiling so must have been good.

  165. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 9:21 pm

Thank goodness I made no plans to host Easter at my place this year. After I got home from the hospital, hubby picked up a meat juhn plate lunch for me and a bento for himself. Was ono.

Tonight, we ate a fresh salad that my sister made at her shop. Was ono, too.

  166. papajoe2 April 24, 2011 9:28 pm

Thanks LizK. Good to be back home in Hawaii, the best place in the world.

  167. Guy in the office April 24, 2011 9:28 pm

al, you’re probably right as baseball/superstitions go hand in hand. i think it was one of those situations when trap made a clever attempt to show his level of frustration with how the team played, and at that moment it seemed fine. however, when you see it in print the next day … well, i bet he wished he never said it.

  168. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 9:30 pm

I caught just the last few moments of the Celtics-Knicks game, but hubby and I were so impressed with AC. The announcer said AC changed the game around and if the Knicks won, he would be the reason. Man, he was on a roll! So proud of him.

  169. al April 24, 2011 9:31 pm

guy…i agree with you on that.

coaches today are such public figures and are often quoted more often than the governor. surely they need to be careful of what spews from their lips. our football coach learned many lessons in his first year and has been a lot more cautious these days.

  170. tommui April 24, 2011 9:41 pm

AL #163 – yep they do own the property and that restaurant is good! Parking is chancy in the back and depends on the hour on the street.

We went to a kabuki play at East-West Center today and ended up at Maple Garden with my sister, son and Lois.

Many years ago, I was in a kabuki play at UH. Made my appearance at about 10:00pm and died at about 10:04

  171. Brother Mike April 24, 2011 9:41 pm

Best possible outcome — AC plays well and the Celts sweep. Love it. Too bad the Knicks didn’t hire Thibodeau instead of D’Antoni when they had the chance. Pairing Melo and Amare with someone who could actually teach them defense would have been very intriguing.

  172. al April 24, 2011 9:47 pm

thanks tom…i knew you had the history on that one.

hmmm. never witnessed a kabuki play even though that is part of my heritage. that might be something i should go and watch.

so, let me guess, tom was a villain in that play or a good guy with a non-speaking part.

  173. al April 24, 2011 9:48 pm

mike a celtic fan tried and true. too bad you missed the glory years of the past with cousy, russell, and the jones boys. happy hairston, too.

  174. al April 24, 2011 9:49 pm

i wonder what the likes of red auerbach would do today with the smoking ban inside the arenas.

  175. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 9:50 pm

    Mike,

    This is hubby’s take:

The Knicks will give D’Antoni 1 more year and then they will hire Phil Jackson.

Even Doc Rivers is interested in the job! Can you imagine him coaching the Knicks???

  176. Kekoa April 24, 2011 9:51 pm

Gigi ~ I’m sure that as you start regaining your strength, that ‘powerful’ golf swing will be easier to achieve. As for David, he should caddy for you! Hehehehe…

  177. gigi-hawaii April 24, 2011 9:53 pm

Kekoa, that’s a thought, isn’t it. Hubby as my caddy. Well, somebody’s gotta carry my clubs. Too heavy for this little old lady…

  178. Ralph April 24, 2011 10:00 pm

Brother Mike surfaces, Brother Stephen sits in a corner consoling himself. 🙂 Celtics roll.

  179. al April 24, 2011 10:26 pm

gigi…i believe that you and your sister should both adjust the parameters on your mouse. you should be able to adjust the sensitivity and stuff. go to your control panel and click on mouse.

if that doesn’t help. then maybe you got to get rid of the cat that lives in your computer.

  180. al April 24, 2011 10:27 pm

so i just want to know…did wsf and his alterego ws show up for the meeting?

  186. Eagle April 24, 2011 11:04 pm

    RE: 158 & 161:

While i fully support Cancer Research and many other good charities …

AND there is Nothing wrong with PINK in general …

The Coach (in my opinion) is BRAVELY (and honestly) speaking what he believes to be true … PINK has NO PLACE in Competitive Athletics … IF You ARE committed to winning (fairly, with dignity and justice for all) Keep Pink in its place …

It has LONG been outlawed in Football visiting locker rooms exactly for the reason that it is a calming, healing, ‘passive’ color that results in less testosterone and aggressive play — Fine for Hospitals, Women’s Fashions and Fund Raisers …

MY SON had leukemia so don’t bother playing the CANCER Card … ALSO Important is My Opinion that Cancer foundations should support research in ALL deadly forms of Cancer; that is, by pooling research funding, facilities and efforts, we can take a Bigger Bite out of all debilitating diseases — i think it is good that Komen and Pink are strong causes (and have myself supported)– BUT i also think ANY THING CAN BE Over-Done and Out-Of-Balance — When we swing too far (Any) one way … we take away from the natural order of things — there IS a flow to life …

    TITLE IX ?

    Black Rights ?

At some point, Level the Playing Field and Play Ball …

WHEN the team is REALLY Good, Pink Jerseys won’t matter (like softball LAST Year) — BUT when you’re right at the edge, playing the margins, it CAN Matter …

    … Fire Away ….

p.s. GREAT Game A.C. ! Awesome that YOU really improved your Ability to shoot & score to the point that when it’s needed you CAN come through — maybe becoming a scoring and shooting point guard (along with your always great passing and hustling defense will add a few more years to an amazing career — i enjoy the Knicks (even though they’re not-yet-ready for “Prime” (Play-Off) Time … but more so with A.C. on the floor doin’ us proud …

  187. Slugger April 24, 2011 11:15 pm

    Good night all!

  189. Hilo Moon April 24, 2011 11:51 pm

Eagle #186 — Great post. I often wonder if the all the well meaning and legitimate organizations pooling their resources would result in a more effective battle against this terrible diesease. Also, I’m sure that coach Trapp spoke in the context of losing baseball games and meant no ill will towards the Komen Foundation.

  190. Kazz on Droid_X April 25, 2011 12:15 am

Trap will need to explain his choice of words.

Unlike Nike, Under Armour has invested more effort into UH Football, softball, and to baseball.

  191. Kazz on Droid_X April 25, 2011 12:17 am

All u braddahs so damn worried about pink need to double check your olos.

    Still there?

    Ok, so nevamind den!

  192. Kazz on Droid_X April 25, 2011 12:23 am

I didnt lose respect for Trap for his comment, but he’ll be thinking about his comment from a relations standpoint now that his inventory of equipment now carries more of the logo of the corporation that created “Power in Pink”.j

  193. Eagle April 25, 2011 12:24 am

    Thanks, Hilo

Agree — i think Trap rarely takes pot shots; even the criticisms are just honest feedback (i hope he’s right that they can’t play worse…); i like that most of the U.H. coaches and administrators are very respectful and rarely arrogant (anymore); it’s not like our program is so dominant that we can think that way (with obvious exceptions like VB & water polo & sailing — The perennial Top 10 sports

In Fact, wearing the uniforms (as BAD a result for both the men & women — Na Wahine got SWEPT by a team who previously couldn’t even win one game there or here) was a well-meaning attempt at supporting — i’m sure we can find ways to support without sacrificing a little (or a lot) of competitiveness …

  194. Kazz on Droid_X April 25, 2011 12:25 am

I got a wager for WSF.

Russian Roulette with all six chambers filled.

He has to go first though.

    Oh yeah, Happy Easter. 😆

    Im out!

  196. Eagle April 25, 2011 1:03 am

    Eh, Kazz (Where You Been?)

DO YOU KNOW that some teams (including some in The WAC) used to have visiting Locker Rooms PAINTED PINK — the Staff and Coaches would go in before the players and cover the walls with newspapers, sheets, anything they could find to counter, cover up THE STRATEGY — UNTIL the NCAA prohibited the Practice…

IN Competition, Programs USE Altitude Signs, Oxygen, Start Times, Shadows from the Stands, Power Triangles, Haka, BLUE Fields (Get Rid of THAT One !) State Police (Ask Alabama ’bout the Tennessee State Police), Stealing Mascots (Poisoning Trees IS out-of-bounds — illegal) — Whateva to Get AN EDGE …

    YOU First …

I’m SURE Under Armour WILL BE A GOOD Partner and help come up with a Better Solution …

Hope You ALL had a Great Easter and Good Friday

(FOR ‘Bow Fans, that was a Black Saturday …)

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

You speak of the Celtics of old and I think back to my old Knicks under Red Holtzman. Dick Barnett, Walt Frazier, Dave Debusher (I butchered his name), Bill Bradley and of course Willis Reed. There was also Earl the Pearl Monroe, Phil Jackson and Marc Ivaroni (later). Now that was a team! The battled the Celtics (Cowens, Tiny, Havlichek (Sorry another butchering of a name), Nelson and company in epic games and Detroit when they had Dave Bing and Bob Lanier.

Basketball was fun and seemed that the fundamentals were sharper back then.

Team chemistry is probably a bit different this year for both teams. The “mad scientists” coaches still have not and may not find the right formula to make them bubble and fizz as they both did last year. That’s team sports. Still got to love college athletics.

Zune and iPod: Most men and women compare the Zune to your Touch, but after seeing how slim and surpr isingly small and gentle it is, I think about it to become a fairly special hybrid that combines qualities of equally the Touch and the Nano. It truly is really colorful and lovely OLED display is slightly smaller than the touch display, but the player itself feels very somewhat smaller and lighter.
