For a drafted NFL player, it takes at least three years to qualify for free agency. The loophole, it appeared, was to be an undrafted player. Former UH slotback davoneDavone Bess was not selected in the 2007 NFL draft. He then signed a standard free-agent contract of two years. Bess is doing well in his second season with the Miami Dolphins. But don’t expect him to get the MegaBucks-like payout for a while. Although his contract will expire at the end of this season, the Dolphins hold exclusive rights for next season. That means he cannot seek offers from other teams. It also means he likely will be tendered the third-year minimum salary for a player who entered the league in 2007: $510,000. Such players usually do not receive a signing bonus. But there are cases in which exclusive-rights players have received multi-year contracts. Either way, Bess will be making more money than you or me in 2010.

Thanks again to Wassup Doc for her update on the wish to upgrade the turf at Aloha Stadium. Indeed, more money will be needed, and it appears outside donations are necessary (Ching Field?)

What is known is the turf needs to be changed. The blades have been shortened by time and usage. The growing number of staph-like infections should be a concern. R.J. Kiesel-Kauhane said he missed the team banquet Sunday while being treated for an infection.

* * * * *

Before the installation of the current FieldTurf, players were having problems with staph-like infections. One of the solutions was to wear long-sleeved undershirts. The brand? UnderArmour, which now is the apparel sponsor for the UH football team.

* * * * *

Brian Kelly’s situation parallels June Jones’ in 2007. Both led their teams to 12-0 regular-season records. Both decided to jump to other schools before their BCS games, although Jones delayed his official announcement until after the Sugar Bowl.

Bodog.com offers these Heisman odds:
Odds to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy

Toby Gerhart                             3/2
Colt McCoy                               2/1

Tim Tebow                                 15/1

    WassupDoc,

Thank you for the update on the turf. I did not realize that the other $800k was not definitely coming from the state and that donations are needed. That means that there is no guarantee that the turf will be replaced before next season, especially if there are delays in raising the funds.

  6. bighilofan2 December 11, 2009 5:12 am

Tsai Meister, THANK YOU kind sir for ENLARGING my post to SO many Tsaikos that responded with care and sincerity to the lost of my mom. I was so surprised that you will do a WONDERFUL gesture on your part and enlarge my picture that you took of me when we were in San Jose at the tailgate party and then “SHINE” me with warmth and sincerity. You are a GREAT writer Mr. Tsai and I am so HONORED that you allow me to come on your blog and become part of “Warrior Nation” !

The kind thoughts, wisdom amd prayers from so many Tsaikos has been moving and touching as I and Rhonda sat together and read all the posts while wiping away tears from the heartfelt words of so many Warrior Beat Bloggers as WE both thank ALL of you who reached out and blessed us as we begin to make this sad and difficult journey.

Mahalo Mrs. LTUHF for sharing your condolences to me as you continue to care for your Mr. LTUHF as I pray for his recovery so
that he can re-unite with so many Tsaikos that love and honor his
GREATNESS that he brings to the “Warrior Beat”

You are a BEAUTIFUL wife who is taking care of her husband and that kind lady is so “WONDERFUL” as I can’t thank you enough for thinking of me during your most trying time.

Have a GREAT day Tsaiko Nation as I begin the journey of resting Mother Sanchez with your kind thoughts and prayers of 21 pages printed going along with me. GOD bless all of you for taking the time to aid and help me. Sincerely with a heavy heart “RainbowCliff”

Good lessons to learn in Cincy, and reflections on JJ during this
    Merriest of Times.

    The parting was painful.
The team held its annual football banquet at a downtown hotel on Thursday night. As players arrived for what was supposed to be a night of celebration, they were greeted by camera crews and reporters asking about Kelly’s decision to leave Cincinnati for Notre Dame.

Three hours later, after the various awards had been handed out, players were told to gather in a meeting room so Kelly could share the news most already knew.

One minute into the meeting, the door opened and senior receiver Mardy Gilyard walked out alone, save his team MVP trophy.

“He went for the money,” Gilyard said. “I’m fairly disgusted with the situation, that they let it last this long.”

His teammates soon followed, some with teary eyes. Gilyard said the younger players in particular — those who would play for a new coach next season — were angry and disillusioned.

“Just blindsided by the fact that it’s a business,” Gilyard said. “People lose sight of that. At the end of the day, NCAA football is a business. People have got to make business decisions.”

Now, Cincinnati wonders whether it will keep its spot in the national spotlight under a new coach. At the men’s basketball victory over Miami of Ohio on Thursday night, there were boos when Kelly’s photo was shown on the videoboard. One fan held up a sign that played on Kelly’s “next-man-in” philosophy.

“BKSELLOUT,” the sign said. “NEXT COACH IN.”

I can totally relate to dat one.

Happy Friday. Do you realize it’s only 2 weeks til Christmas?

    Top 15?

  17. bighilofan2 December 11, 2009 5:54 am

    Coaches,

you can tell all Hawaii recruits that Zac Quines said it best for so many of us. About what his father said to him about family and friends tail gating for him next year.

and you can also tell them about the lessons being learned in Cincinatti.

“He [Kelly] went for the money,” Gilyard said. “I’m fairly disgusted with the situation…”

His teammates… some with teary eyes…the younger players in particular — those who would play for a new coach next season — were angry and disillusioned.

“Just blindsided by the fact that it’s a business,” Gilyard said. “People lose sight of that. At the end of the day, NCAA football is a business. People have got to make business decisions.”

In Warrior Nation, at least when things are not so spiffy looking, like following a 6-7 season,Tsaikos, family and Hawaii are there to get your back, cheer you up and encourage you and coaches to look forward to getting really good recruits and a new season.

  18. mctruck December 11, 2009 5:57 am

    ST,

I had the same thing in mind when reading the article on coach Kelly’s leaving the Bearcats program after a perfect non-loss season, and how it reminded me of JJ’s leaving UH for SMU.

Mo-money is usually the determining factor among other things and the world/life goes on.

Behind on the reading here so this question may have already been asked/answered: what’s the warranty agreement with FieldTurf for UH? Insured warranty purchased?

The school that I coach at installed FieldTurf on its football field in 2000 and hasn’t experienced problems with turf-inflicted injuries. Other sports and schools in the area use the field as well (soccer, field hockey, lacrosse).

Our Sugar Bowl might have been different… but even without the official announcement, but when I watched the TV version, the faces of the players on the sidelines revealed that they already knew and for the FIRST time that perfect season, their hearts were down and BELIEVE was just another word.

People connected at the heart level don’t depend on speech for communication.

Have a great ALOHA Friday, everyone!

    Merry Christmas Tsaikos.

  34. whitey December 11, 2009 6:54 am

funny thing about NCAA rules, if UH or any other school talks to another college player and ask if they are interested in transfering, they face a very stiff penalty from the NCAA, but if another university asked another university coach to transfer, there is no penalty. I can see if a coach did not have a contract (free agent), that is no problem, but in any pro league, if you do that while the coach is under contract, there is a huge penalty. SO WHY are the NCAA afraid to write that in their rules????

  35. bighilofan2 December 11, 2009 6:59 am

    Merry XMas alla yu Tsaikos.

okay okay, Aloha Stadium needs a new turf. and we’ve gotta ask private donors and the State for the kala.

high school “coaches” gotta do their part. promote our team, UH Warriors. gotta scratch the back of those who feed them.

they gotta promote the field, and those that use the field. thats them. you can’t be telling yeah Warriors, and then go fly Kansas.

Now that is what I call a space eater, by size. Imagine if he could work to use that size to be a true space eater..for the home team.

I think it was Hawaii Business Magazine that said local CEOs don’t predict a recovery until 2012.
    Yeah, right.
That’s the perfect thing for them to say. Takes off the heat for at least two more years.
Bad quarter? Sorry, economy is bad until 2012.
I think this is the time CEOs have to show what it takes, and I don’t mean cutting work force or eliminating Christmas parties. If not, bounce ’em. Why not? Companies can save those bigwig salaries until 2012.

  66. Garret December 11, 2009 9:59 am

You can bet that the news about the turf and staph infections will be used against UH in recruiting…

  67. madeinhawaii December 11, 2009 10:08 am

Maybe Island Movers can make a sizable contribution for putting up with their less than attractive bumper banner on the field. Man that looks so Pop-Warner.

  68. Garret December 11, 2009 10:11 am

    ST,

I’m pretty sure that Miami will offer Bess a multi-year deal after this season in order to avoid losing him. It also would save them money in the long run since they will avoid a bidding war for Bess after next season.

For Bess, that will give more money early (especially with the signing bonus) and security. However, he and his agent will need to decide if waiting for another year would end up being better for him.

Bess has worked hard to beat back the challenges of the players there before him, the big-money WR free agent Miami signed before last season (who is now off the team) and the 2 WRs Miami drafted in their latest draft.

  69. Slugger December 11, 2009 10:15 am

    Morning!!! Happy Aloha Friday!

    W-Doc,

Thanks for the stadium info. Sure hope the state can get it together to replace the turf next year. Hope you are doing ok & get your bod taken care of on Monday.

See whoever is at the Christmas party early. Gotta boogie to St. Andrew’s for a performance of “Amahl & the Night Visitors” later in the evening. Been busy, busy, busy w/ AnnodahLiz. Now to get to baking…

    Esme & latahs…

  70. madeinhawaii December 11, 2009 10:30 am

This staph infection thing reminds me of USC last year when 25% of the football team suffered from Jock itch…makes you wonder what or ah…whom they shared?

  71. madeinhawaii December 11, 2009 10:32 am

Hey maybe they can get Sam’s Club to sponsor it on an 18-month no interest deal? But then knowing the State.. they would be late in payment, anyway…

  72. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc December 11, 2009 10:49 am

Darn it!! I spent about 20 minutes providing information about the turf replacement project, but when I sent it off, I got an error message so it disappeared. Let me see if I can quickly sum up what I said because I have to get into town for a meeting at 12 noon.

The turf replacement process has alreadystarted; however, funding is still a big issue. Right now, the planning process – which includes raising funds through a variety of means – is in the very early stages.

The balance of the planning along with the design and construction will occur next fiscal year which starts July 1, 2010 and ends June 30, 2011. The current turf will stay in place for the 2010 football season.

The warranty expires in 2012 so time is of the essence here. In order to get the NFL money, the new turf has to be in place by Pro Bowl in Feburary, 2012.

During the fall of 2010, the Request for Proposals/Bids will be drafted and issued. Assuming that there are no challenges after the bids are opened, then the actual construction work will begin in the spring of 2011. Based upon the Ching Field project, the work should be completed in about two months.

The new field will be used in the 2011 season.

In my disappeared post, I also offered some comments & suggestions about making sure that the funding actually happens – both by the private sector as well as working with the Legislature. I don’t have time to recreate those comments now, but I hould have some time to do so over the weekend.

I know some folks who regularly post comments here feel that politics has no place in a sports blog, but that’s the reality of How We Do Things Around Here. If we want to have legislative support for issuing bonds, then we have to understand how their System works and how best to make it work for us.

Bye – see you at Murphy’s this evening..

  73. SteveM December 11, 2009 11:08 am

    Good morning everyone!

I have finally completed my photo web page on the Pride of America cruise I squeezed between the Nevada and Utah State games last month. I escorted my mom on her 6th cruise. I used my blog posts as the narrative for organizational purposes in showing the main areas of the ship. Hopefully it will give those who have not cruised before a “look and feel” of the typical shipboard world…

    WassupDoc,

Thank you very, very much for the update! It is sad to hear that there is no chance to have the new turf in place for next season…the turf burns and infections will be even worse next season. Hopefully nothing hampers the process to get the turf in place in time for the 2011 season…the fact that the Pro Bowl needs it is probably enough for the project to go forward.

  75. AlaWaiPipeLayer December 11, 2009 11:24 am

With the amount of money Hawaii pumps into Las Vegas, the casino’s amd LAS Chamber of Commerce should be funding all of our UH Warrior related needs. So long as Hawaii doesn’t legalize gaming, the 9th island will continue to be the number one beneficiary. We have a Tourism tax for visitors to Hawaii, maybe we can put a departure tax on tickets to Las Vegas.

  76. Whiplash808 December 11, 2009 11:31 am

    RainbowCliff –
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I recall watching you as a player back at the Blaisdell, and I remember how tough you were and the class you showed, even back then. It is those same characteristics that apparently are serving you well, even now. Your mother was justifiably proud of you. I wish you a peaceful holiday season and all the best in the new year to come.

  77. madeinhawaii December 11, 2009 11:31 am

If they can link all these infections to the turf at Aloha and should any serious injury occur as a direct result of negligence in the repair of the turf, will the injured parties have any recourse against the State of Hawaii?

  78. Kazz December 11, 2009 11:36 am

    Wow,

If the NFL wasn’t involved, I’m sure the “flesh eater” would have remained at Aloha Stadium all this time.

  79. Pomai December 11, 2009 11:36 am

Ok I did a little looking around about fieldturf, I noticed on there site that they offer a maintenance program that is advertised to extend the life of the turf by quite a few years, my question is did the state purchase the maintenance program? If not, why not? If yes, why is it only lasted 6 years instead of the 9 to 10 years that they say it will last?

  80. Kazz December 11, 2009 11:45 am

    DON’T FORGET!!!

At 3pm HST, tune in to ESPN 1420AM to catch the Rainbow Wahine continue their 2009 “Aikae, NCAA” Tour.

Win tonight and the Wahine return to the same spot they were in last season in the Final 8 against either Stanford or Michigan.

Now, spoke with 808ike yesterday and he is having issues finding an internet feed of the game. Nothing on the BIG 10’s site or on Illinois’ site as well.

    Pomai,

I think you just answered your own question.

Still wondering if our state understands the term, “preventative maintenance”… 🙄

There is an institution of higher learning located at the entrance of Manoa Valley that represents what the state thinks of “preventative maintenance”… 🙄

I hope Ndamukong Suh wins the Heisman. If the award should go to the best football player in America this season it would be a slam dunk, Suh, hands down. Unfortunately, it’s almost exclusively an offensive award.
In that case, I think the best offensive player would then go to Toby Gerhart. Tim Tebow doesn’t have a chance. Colt McCoy? After how he played against Nebraska and Suh, no way. Ingram, he’s helped by being on the top team, but he’s not the best player on his team. The best player on Alabama is Rolando McClain. If Suh wins it, this is what he should say as his opening remarks. “Hello, my name is Suh. How do you do! (Ala Johnny Cash’s song, “A boy named Sue.”) That would be so funny!!!!!

Anybody says it’s not about the money, don’t believe it. It is all about the money. Loyalty is a big part about the money, the cake and the frosting too. Kelly lied to his players and the players are upset. Kelly got the dream job because of his players. Too bad he can’t finished the bowl game.

  85. I Love Pecan Pie December 11, 2009 1:16 pm

Drool. Drool…Would luv to party with you all tonight.
But taking care of someone now.
Pat Tsai on the back for me as well as Murphy.
    Ahhhh…maybe next year.
By the way, that was pretty funny #65…
One of the nicest things about this blog is everyone’s humor.
    Well, most everyone.

  86. Kazz December 11, 2009 1:30 pm

The Bearcats have all the motivation in the world to beat Florida and end this “Tim Tebow = Greatest college football player ever” nonsense.

Florida will have to play a team that is going to be amped up and very determined to show Kelly Boy what kind of kids he left behind.

I’ll be rooting very HARD for Cincy. I would have cheered for them anyway, but there is a distant, but similar feel to not having a coach be there for you (physically or mentally) in a big bowl game situation…. ***COUGH***COUGH***

  87. whitey December 11, 2009 1:43 pm

in down time like this, you need people to think outside of the box. scott chang should look at the field, figure out how much sq ft of material is needed (include labor), divide it up into 1 sq ft and have people sponsor or lease each sq ft. There would be no dividends, except you would have a certificate saying that you lease 1 sq ft of turf (not the land) at Aloha Stadium and will have 1st chance to renew your lease when the field needs to be redone. Similar idea as the Packers where you own one share, but get nothing and cannot sell the share on the open market, but at least you have interest in Aloha Stadium. This would be a non profit org, so your donation is tax deductible. There would also be a chart showing which sq ft you lease with name and address.

  88. whitey December 11, 2009 1:46 pm

it is amazing how people think that just because you go to Vegas, you should pay the State of Hawaii something. We don’t owe the State a damn penny for going out of state and if the State wants any money, then legalize gambling. No balls, No glory!!!!!

  89. whitey December 11, 2009 1:49 pm

I hope Cincy beats Florida and if they do, three cheers for them.

  90. whitey December 11, 2009 1:50 pm

    Congrats, Wahine!!!!

  178. Garret December 11, 2009 4:44 pm

Looks like Washington plans to take a QB in the first round…which would be very, very bad news for Colt’s prospects to ever get playing time there. Even worse, Washington owns Colt’s rights at the minimum salary so they might just hold on to him at that bargain price if they are worried about the draft pick being ready to play at the start of the season.

Reston, Va.: Any chance that the rumored scouting of Colt McCoy and Clauson are red herrings? Just getting the media to rant about something that they’re not seriously considering?

If it is true that they’re looking to draft a QB, what does that mean for Colt Brennan?

Paul Tenorio: No, I don’t think Cerrato and the Redskins are scouting potential first-round quarterbacks to fool opponents or start draft posturing yet. Let’s be honest, the Redskins have identified quarterback as an area of need for a while now. They chased Cutler and Sanchez in the offseason (how’d they turn out so far) and it certainly seems as if they’re leaning toward a QB in the first round.

Of course, you look at how Campbell is playing and you think…if this team really wants to fix things, if they are really willing to rebuild, wouldn’t Campbell at least be the perfect guy to run the show while you build things up around him? Draft o-linemen (several), find a running back, maybe go get a big-time receiver, shore up defensive depth. One or two years, if Campbell isn’t WINNING games but you’ve actually built a base of a real team, then you can bring in another guy. Or you can draft one next year after you shore up the o-line and let him sit and learn for a season.

I just don’t get how you can place QB as No. 1 on the ‘Needs’ list right now. So short-sighted and too much of a quick-fix point of view.

Time to celebrate with a pedicure!

  186. LizKauai (iPhone) December 11, 2009 4:52 pm

#180- Colt and Colt. Hmmm. Redskins need a lot more than another QB right now.

A lady brought her dog into the salon while she gets her pedicure. Hmmm.

  187. Lopaka43 December 11, 2009 4:54 pm

The webcast announcers said Kaufman had an ab injury and was out for the night which makes the win even more impressive. Forsyte and Ferrell really stepped up.

Given the way Ferrell has played in California, we should move her family to Hawaii!! Seemed like she was playing with joy and confidence with her family in the stands. Strange but great to hear the webcast announcer saying that she was unstoppable.

A great win for the Wahine that should give them go momentum for tomorrow’s Elite Eight match.

    Go Wahine!! Go Warriors!!

Whitey: Your suggestion about cutting up the old turf – and having the pieces autographed by our Warrior Stars since it was installed – is already on the table for discussion.

Unfortunately, the turf would not be available for “sale” until the work actually begins. The reality is that all the funds must be raised between today and early next May when the 2010 Session is pau.

    ********************

With respect to naming rights: Doing so would require a change in state statutes. Remember, UH does not own Aloha Stadium so there’s very little it can do to influence what happens with it. With a really lame duck governor – only 51 weeks to go – anything as drastic as what needs to be done to get some long-term financial stability for UH athletics is not going to happen in 2010.

However, you might want to bring up these critical issues during the 2010 gubernatorial race.

The turf warranty expires in 2012. The original warranty was for eight years. With respect to an extended warranty, I suggest that Scott Chan (no g) be asked that question; however, do be aware that when the contract was signed, many of the people from back then are no longer around. .

As for the gambling issue, if you really want to see something happen, then you have to speak up and speak loudly to your state representative and state senator. FYI – the gaming industry would LOVE to see legal gambling in Hawai`i.

Congratulations to the Wahine!!! Unfortunately, my car radio finally died this afternoon so I was dependent upon DrDoc to call me with updates while I was driving back from Kahalu`u.

On my way back into town – hope to see many of you tonight at Murphy’s

  205. wafan December 11, 2009 6:39 pm

Lots of Christmas trees around here. There are several 100-footers if you want. Transporting them might be an issue, though.

7-footers are inexpensive at the grocery stores. Around $15 for one that was just cut this morning. Or you can head out to a tree farm and do the deed yourself.

Worried about the bugs? Set up the tree in the stand in the garage. Set off a bug bomb and close the garage door — go shopping, get a mani/pedi treatment, and have dinner. In four hours, no smell, no bugs, and, it gets all the creepy-crawlies in the garage, too!

It is a lot warmer than it has been for the past week or so.

It has been too cold for any snow down here. Even if it did snow it evaporates before it hits the ground. It does that sometimes when it rains up here, too.

Strange to see it raining on the doppler, and not feel a drop of any precipitation.

We have a now shot of moisture coming in from the south.

A new report indicates that since weather records have been kept this is the warmest decade. Strange when we are having all this freezing. But, during the summers we are getting up to the 100’s in Seattle.

This summer a new record high was set toward the end of July at 106-degrees! Crazy!!! If we are not able to keep our snow packs we are going to hurt for water during the summers. Kind of scary to think about.

I figured that the merry-go-round for the conferences will be in 2-3 years when the next round of BCS negotiations will take place and they will select which conferences get the automatic qualification spots. However, it sounds like the Big 10 wants to add another team soon so that they can have a championship game. Wisconsin and Penn State are leading the charge to add a team.

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says the Big Ten will soon make a more aggressive push toward adding a 12th member.

Speaking to Wisconsin’s athletic board on Friday, Alvarez, the former longtime Badgers football coach, said the conference already has investigated possibilities for expansion “from all over the country.” And though he places no timetable on the search, Alvarez thinks conference commissioner Jim Delany will respond to a group of athletic directors and coaches who want expansion.

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been the most vocal advocate of a 12th Big Ten team, and he has support from several of his fellow coaches.

A 12th team would allow the Big Ten to split into divisions and hold a conference championship game. The Big Ten typically ends its football season two weeks before the other BCS conferences, though the addition of a permanent bye week in 2010 will shrink the gap by a week.

Current estimates are that 50 million Americans (1/6 of the people in our country!) have had the swine flu and about 10,000 died from it. That is actually a lower mortality rate than in regular flu seasons, but while the elderly die from the regular flu, the swine flu has killed more children and young adults.

The 4S Symposium highlights how the evolution of small satellites is creating a rapid increase in data availability and knowledge-based services. This is pretty cool to me because in my first year of teaching I advised 7 women who designed, built, and had their small satellites launched. UH also has a small satellite program.

    Ralph,

Did you beat your computer problem? I believe I had a similar problem with something called Spyware Doctor / Striker & noticed it almost brought my computer to a frozen halt. I went into settings / control planel to the change/delete (uninstall) programs. It took a long time, but finally I was allowed to un-install the program & I then deleted it and all other files like it. Let me know.

  305. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:02 am

See…. you take a kope break and the war-monger guys score a TD! 🙄

  306. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:03 am

Eh…. I know I’ve asked this B4, but what is “chantilly cake”? 🙄

  307. wafan December 12, 2009 8:04 am

    Oops. Indiana University.

Heck, all those “I” states they all look alike.

  308. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:04 am

…and when does wafan go holoholo? 🙄

  309. wafan December 12, 2009 8:07 am

    Liz . . .

No scones this morning. Fried mochi. Not exactly good for me but it sure was good!

Fresh scones with strawberry preserves tomorrow, though. Yum!!!

  310. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:08 am

The ‘cats look sharp in white! Too bad they plowed all the snow off the field! 😆

So is Linfield considered a “D1” school since it’s partly funded by d1島 & Juliet? 🙄

  311. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:09 am

I always thought of wafan as being a “waffle”-man. 😆

  312. Slugger December 12, 2009 8:10 am

    Aloha Kakahiaka!

    LizK,

A-Joe is now celebrating the season with the UH Santa hat! He looks good in it.

Off to be a tourista…. latahs

  313. Slugger December 12, 2009 8:11 am

    Koakane,

    No forget…take your MemX2!

  314. wafan December 12, 2009 8:14 am

    Brew . . .

Holo-holo. HA! Have not heard that one in a long time. Tonight I think I will head out for a good burger and fries.

  315. d1島 December 12, 2009 8:18 am

    No mo’ kope breaks, LizK!

    Stay focused!

    C’mon ‘Cats!

  316. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:19 am

LizK – those were some cheap airfares to the PNW on HA. I hope my family can use it. Nephew grads UDub this June. Heck – I may have to try using ’em – if they allow a early release w/ an ankle monitor…. 😀

  317. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc December 12, 2009 8:19 am

Ust a quick reminder – the time difference between Hawai`i and the East Coast is 5 hours during the winter months. The four Elite Eight matches today are listed with HITime first: Penn State v. California, 11 am/4 pm; Florida State v. Minnesota, 1:30 pm/6:30 pm; Nebraska v. Texas, 4 pm/9 pm; Hawai`i v. Michigan, 6:30 pm/11:30 pm. All four television matches are on ESPNU and the Hawai`i match will also be on ESPN 1420 AM radio.

Hope that Amber is Good2Go tonight.

Off to a couple of meetings. Have a wonderful day – it’s gorgeous here in Kailua. X your fingers that it remains this way for our HI-5 fundraiser tomorrow.

  318. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:20 am

C’mon ‘cats! Long drive w/ points!

  319. d1島 December 12, 2009 8:21 am

Don’t think Williams is the guy today; maybe Lamson might be more successful.

  320. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:22 am

    Unfortunately… strained abs no heal overnight…. 🙁

  321. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:25 am

Betcha the game would go faster if the refs wore shorts! 😀

  322. wafan December 12, 2009 8:27 am

Mmmmm! Waffles!!! Have not had waffles in a long time. Maybe next weekend — breakfast with Mom.

Light, crunchy and beautifully golden brown slabs of waffles, slathered with globs of whipped butter, then coated with warmed real maple syrup.

    Yum!

  323. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:27 am

When d1島 watches his Linfield ‘cats – does he become d3? 🙄

  324. βρεω808 December 12, 2009 8:30 am

Sheeessshhhh….. I was just thinking Eggo waffles out of the toaster….. plain….. 🙄

  325. wafan December 12, 2009 8:32 am

    New post up.

  326. LizKauai [iMac] Go Wahine! December 12, 2009 8:38 am

No scones for me either. Sauteed breadfruit and eggs over easy with a heavy dose of curveball’s 2x chili peppah watah.

Brew- I made my reservations for PDX- April 10-25.

INTERESTING- HA miles for my interisland legs would have been 17,000 points! WTH???

I got my ROUNDTRIPS from Go! for 5,000 points!!!

Wow- great Wildcat run… into the red zone!
