Garden-variety tour
The Warriors staff is on the Garden Island today for two camps at Vidinha Stadium.
The morning session is for pre-high school kids; the afternoon session is for so-called prospects.
Head coach Nick Rolovich, his nine full-time assistant coaches and two graduate assistants are serving as instructors.
The coaches will participate in a meet-and-greet fundraiser tomorrow at Kauai Community College’s Fine Dining Room. The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 (presale) and $50 (at the door).
For details, call 639-1172 (on Kauai) or 956-4513 (on Oahu).

Fargo tough…
Jeepney Tough?
Boolakanaka, we had some ballers back then. That 1980 team was special and should have won the College World Series…we were the better the team. It brings back memories, when I visit UA bookstore because my daughter goes there and see UA championships listed on some baseball stuff. And it should have been Hawaii. I’m in the camp that says we need new coaching blood that can reinvigorate the Baseball Bows.
Ram Tough! (I’m a forever Ram fan!) 🙂

Azwarrior, one spring, my locker mate right next to me, Mike Akiu, played spring baseball, he was not a great curve ball hitter, but I saw him in one scrimmage steal 4 bases in a single game and it was not even close…..speed kills.

me remember Mike Akiu — only “local boy” with legit 4.3 speed in 40
drafted by Houston Oilers in the 2nd or 3rd round, but he never got to play – speed kills only if the coach allows it — was it his size? only 5’8″ tall.
lasted only 2 or 3 years then poof!
Ram Tough!
but, me 49er fan from a time when most of the current bloggers were but a figment of the father’s imagination.
yet, I bow to our “counselor” who has me by a few years; not much but still my senior! hello Tom!
jeepney tough… now that is tough…..sum of them built like tanks…
Late at night – but aloha to A-House and his family. Probably watching Royal Gambler on Channel 5!
AHouse, alas Mike had just average hands for Thr NFL, but his speed was world class. He was actually probably a legit sub 4.3 guy.
Folks might not know this, but when Mike was at Washington State (prior to UH) on a track scholarship, twice he beat Ron Brown in the 60, this is the Ron Brown of ASU, the Rams, and the 1984 4 by 100 relay gold medal Olympic team. Ron had a 40 yard best of 4.28– so, I place Mike right there, and arguably the fastest bow in history.
az warrior 22-
Don Robbs I remember saying that Bryan Duquette had a “cup of coffee” with the Milwaukee Brewers, but he has no official MLB stats.
Was he on the roster, but never got into a game?
Larry Gonzalez is a lifetime .500 hitter.
I think Coach Trapasso should hire a new batting coach.
