    A Grease . . .

    Glad to have awakened.

You are up early or is it late.

  20. greenthumb November 3, 2012 6:44 am

Morning! Trivia for fun, and maybe even ideas that UH could support, on this hopeful game day. Inspired by our host’s first photo today….

Fresno has doggie bones, USC has retired (?) jerseys in the end zone in the Coliseum, etc. What kinds of permanent or semi-permanent stuff could we have at Aloha Stadium? Nothing as obnoxious as Boise’s blue field, but what kinds of spirit things can we think of?

I’ll start with ^^^^^ wraps around the goal posts

  21. kkobi425 November 3, 2012 6:48 am

Calvin from Kona thats a nice lake. Went fishing up there twice. You must know somebody rich. Todays Seattle P-I listed Sammamish in the top 5 richest cities.

  30. PolyMom November 3, 2012 7:21 am

    Morning Warrior Fans

If you live in the SoCal area the Hawaii game is on for free.

TWCSD Channel 403 game starts at 4. This is the Tine Warner Cable Sports HD network. Looks like they have all the MWC games for free.

    GO WARRIORS!

  31. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 7:25 am

    # 16 Tex’ A&M vs. # 15 Mississippi St. goin on right now. Players of Miss’ St. got HAIL STATE on the back of their jerseys. Fans doing a white out @ iMss’ St.’S stadium.

Doesn’t seem to be working. Aggies 31, “Hail State” zip at this time.

Enjoy that extra hour tonight, kkobi425.

    Go Warriors

  35. greenthumb November 3, 2012 7:57 am

23, Mr. Grease, very creative idea to have players’ tattoo art showcased. Years in the future, they can point to it and “remember when”…. Definitely need to do something to make the stadium more personal and less generic.

  36. Ballpicker November 3, 2012 7:58 am

Good luck Warriors today. I know u guys can do it. So put the pedal to the metal and don’t let up till the end.

Tsai, ur my hero. You get to live in hawaii, but yet get to travel and what? Play blackjack! Good luck to u.make some $ for the “family”. And then you come back to paradise. Now that’s living the dream.

  49. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:14 am

    greenthumb,

Let’s go true warrior style . . . Hawaiian battle spears sticking out of the ground with selected opposing team helmets scewerd on them.

  50. Na Koa Mike November 3, 2012 8:15 am

We’re catching up with Kelly McGill today.

McGill was an offensive lineman on the 1991 to 1994 teams. McGill was an undersized (6-1, 246) starter at right tackle on the 1992 co-WAC championship and Holiday Bowl champion team. He was an honorable mention All-WAC performer in his senior year.

  51. manoa#1 November 3, 2012 8:16 am

man we shud of sent kahuku to fresno this week.

  52. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:16 am

Agree that Kahuku looked unstoppable last night. Mililani’s o-line got battered, which led to some tough QB decisions.

  53. Ballpicker November 3, 2012 8:16 am

Yes Kev-1 , do it today!!

  54. Da Punchbowl Kid November 3, 2012 8:18 am

    BP –

Shootin at the walls of heartache – bang bang! I AM THE WARRIOR!!!

  55. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:19 am

we should send manoa#1 into the UH locker room for some motivation

  56. Ballpicker November 3, 2012 8:22 am

    🙂 that’s the one DPK!

Where is that Tsai guy? Working ? I don’t think so.

    Go Warriors

  57. Ballpicker November 3, 2012 8:22 am

    Kev-1,

    No sacrifices today. Lol

  58. Jack Flash November 3, 2012 8:25 am

    Final:

    Louisville 45

    Temple 17

    An owl cries . . .

  65. PolyMom November 3, 2012 8:51 am

    Texas A&M WIN!

My Louisville CARDS a huge WIN!

Up next Manti Te’o. Starts in ten minutes folks.

But let me say this, Charlie Strong is one BAD ARZ Coach. Two years ago, he said we would be going to a BCS game. He kept his promise.

Don’t miss the Quack Pack with ST. Louis high school Mariota. And catch the UCLA game. UCLA could win the PAC 12 South. Happy to have the cross town rivalry back. Thank God for DVR.

  66. iwonderwhytheyhateme November 3, 2012 8:52 am

May Buddha have mercy on us today in Fresno.

    Go Warriors.

  67. Moocher November 3, 2012 8:55 am

    hahaha 🙂

  69. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 8:58 am

    # 65. Hope Warriors can do just as well against owl in “the game who cries wolf.”

    # 41 mo808, yeh. Oregon-Trojans should be fighty fight like Takata vs. Kaneshiro on Island Insights earlier this week.

  70. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:58 am

That site has had the games listed all season but have never actually shown it.

  71. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:59 am

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  72. kev-1 November 3, 2012 9:00 am

    WarriorNY:

    Mr. Grease,

    How’s your morning going?

Quite well, thanks for asking. You folks down East doing a bit better?

Don’t forget to get your free 10 gallons of gasoline (per person?) courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Cuomo. 😀

Can we assume . . . that a lot of New York IS still operational? i.e., mostly Jersey side got the brunt?

Didn’t manage to watch that NBC concert last night. Would’ve liked to have watched Sting perform.

  78. Capitolist/WassupDoc November 3, 2012 9:12 am

Get ready for some serious wins by our two basketball and the softball teams. Won’t have a heads-up on the baseball and men’s volleyball teams until mid-December, but let’s make sure that we are in the two Stadiums and The Stan when all of these five teams play in Manoa.

We’ll also be in our seats at the final three home football games (maybe four) at Aloha Stadium.

Ran into the father of a Warrior football player at a political event Thursday evening. The dad provided some major insights into how the team is reacting to the mutliple issues the Department of Athletics, the Board of Regents, the major boosters, the Manoa and the System administrations face. As a parent, he supports his son emotionally, intellectually, and financially, but he is not going to get involved in addressing what needs to be done unless & until his son requests that Dad take his powerful advocacy skills to make things better for the team, the staff, the faculty, the administrations, fans like the Tsai-kos, and the general public.

BTW – he agreed with my position that the Legislature and the Abercrombie Administration will not be addressing the semi-autonomous status of the University of Hawai`i in the upcoming legislative session unless things get worse over the next few months.

  79. iwonderwhytheyhateme November 3, 2012 9:16 am

    #75,

There are many contradictions in Buddhism. Form is emptiness, emptiness is form.

  80. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 9:20 am

Haha… 10 free gallons of gas isn’t worth the 5 hours of waiting in line… I wish I could show you the lines for gas in NY… I’d say one line for gas was at least 2 miles long. Cops are making sure people don’t jump the line… It’s crazy. I actually drove up to CT to fill up gas.

NYC is functioning but lower manhattan is still flooded… Subways aren’t running with full functionality.. But we’re doing much better than NJ.

  81. markazulu November 3, 2012 9:35 am

I hope Our Defense is gonna play as well as they did in that 2nd half last week. I hope our Offense comes out clicking. But for me I think beating Fresno St would salvage this season for me!

    Go Warriors

  82. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 9:48 am

#4, you can’t see them, but the roughly 25 scholys are in Norm’s little house in the top photo. But right, not Bright.

  83. Kekoa November 3, 2012 9:51 am

    WarriorNY ~

Hope you are doing ok my friend.

I had this crazy notion that might not be a bad idea. What if the big insurance companies each chartered a cruise ship? For those homeowners who needed temp shelter, and meals for their family, this would be a quick fix until folks got on their feet.

  84. kawika49 November 3, 2012 9:54 am

I going watch this game. I would like to see some Chow Fun, for a change.

  85. kawika49 November 3, 2012 9:58 am

    Eh kekoa

    tired watching mattatbi sanin yakuza.

  86. HiFlyer November 3, 2012 9:59 am

    kawika49

no be disappointed when only see dim sum.

  87. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 10:09 am

    Kekoa,

Thanks… Im good. There’s a lot of people much worse off…

That’s a great idea about the cruise ship. Especially since we got another storm (not nearly as bad but still) coming in this week. NYC does have a lot of shelters up for a lot of those people who are out of their homes.

  88. kawika49 November 3, 2012 10:09 am

Every once in a while, kukai happens.

  89. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 10:11 am

Read on the plane the other day and thought some fans would enjoy to kill a little time before the game.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2012/10/29/bob-stitt-fly-sweep-colorado-school-of-mines-college-football-offense/1659819/

If link doesn’t work google Bob Stitt, School of Mines.

  90. Capitolist/WassupDoc November 3, 2012 10:15 am

Forgot to mention the Wahine volleyball team in my earlier post. Glad to see Jane playing Thursday night. The number of fans was about half the usual attendees.

    Please show up tonight.

UH has submitted a request to host the first two rounds of the 2012 NCAA tournament November 29 – December 2. I assume the decision will be made within the next two weeks.

NOTE: Several of the volleyball players were at The Stan last night checking out the men’s basketball team.

  91. SteveM November 3, 2012 10:20 am

A cruise ship is the ultimate, self-sufficient hotel. But I think she is vulnerable tied up in port. The behemoth ships today are much safer out at sea, where she can outrun and out distance storms.

I think a medium size cruise ship was used as a shelter/hotel in the New Orleans disaster…but weeks after the weather passed. Was it for the relief personnel?

  92. Kekoa November 3, 2012 10:23 am

Kawika ~ I’m being ‘escorted’ to a family function at noon today. It might be good thing because I’m feeling so Fresno today.

  93. gigihawaii November 3, 2012 10:24 am

Namaste from India, folks. It is 2:30 Nov 4 here in New Delhi. Beautiful place.

GOOD LUCK TO OUR DEAR WARRIORS!!!

  94. PolyMom November 3, 2012 10:24 am

Regarding Cruise Ships. Just this year when St. Marys had a mold problem at their dorms they moved the kids and they lived on a cruise ship. Just this year I think.

Best TV shows forgot to include the HBO show Girls. Forgot that one.

  95. Kekoa November 3, 2012 10:27 am

WNY ~ I saw some of those shelters on TV. I’d opt for the cruise ship.

  96. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 10:27 am

    Enable the “f” food!

Heard dim sum already . . . a Grease got:

    • Spicy ahi

    • Porterhouses (because haven’t had that for a while)

Trimmings steamed rice, etc. What YOU got, fair Tsaiko, Tsaikette?

Irish a bit behind, 3rd quarter.

Notre Dame HAS lost to Pitt at times when they shouldn’t have, no? In the past?

  97. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 10:29 am

Oops! Sorry, sorry. Still first half w/Irish-Pitt game.

  98. cocobean November 3, 2012 10:35 am

Fresno is going to score Chow has to be able to answer. Wish he could find a way to get more weapons on the field. I’d like to see a package with Isosefa, Gregory and Lister. Sometimes I think I’d rather see Lister or Iosefa lined up as an H back than to have a true TE in there.

Not expecting a win but sure am wishing and hoping.

    Norm get creative.

  99. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 10:36 am

Fukushima folks are still in those port-a-shelters.

Let’s hope East coasters’ international reputation for being verbal allows them less time in ANY kind of shelter. Lead the New Jersians, WarriorNY 🙂 .

Right now, New Mex’ vs. UNLV (see a pattern? MWC) game going on.

Feel like calling Oceanic to confirm . . . but . . . see previous days’ complaing of a Grease in calling Oceanic.

Anyway. Ordered the game already. Will FUME if game shows for free on this channel.

  101. PolyMom November 3, 2012 10:58 am

    Chicken Grease

You know why ND is losing? So many of their DUMB fans are cheering for USC today. See they think if they win out ND would go to BCS NC game. Never going to happen. The best they would get is the Sugar Bowl. So lots of their DUMB fans want Oregon to lose, USC to win thinking they’ll get to the NC game. Never going to happen? So thus creating bad football juju. Football juju is very important. ND looks sloppy today.

  102. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 10:58 am

Ah, sugoi!!!!! A Grease kyoo wa hyaku desu!!!!!

  110. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 11:47 am

Woah. Irish need to challenge the fumble, Mosely-Smith knees down a’eady!

  111. PolyMom November 3, 2012 11:54 am

And they miss the extra point. Geez these are the things that are so important. Now they need 2 scores. ND not good on 2 point conversions.

  112. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 12:14 pm

Bad break for ND… intercepted at the goal line…. too predicatable a play.

  113. cee808 November 3, 2012 12:20 pm

On Oceanic, TWCHD (1218) has the UH game for free in HD.

“New. Hawaii and Fresno State.” … hope the “NEW” points to change on the scoring front too. Go Warriors. And what ever happened to the welfare fraud allegations against Fresno State football (or maybe I just haven’t been paying attention)?

  114. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 12:23 pm

Whoa.. big play coming up for ND…. 18-20… they need 2 pts here.

  122. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 12:51 pm

Mercy, stress!!!!! Switching between The Warrior vs. The Bulldog and Irish-Pitt overtime!!!!

  123. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 12:52 pm

  125. brad November 3, 2012 12:55 pm

Unless you’ve got money on UH game???

  126. markazulu November 3, 2012 12:58 pm

Oh my goodness this game is going just how this season is going.

  127. brad November 3, 2012 12:58 pm

What’s the chances of seeing Graves today?

  128. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 12:59 pm

Oh, no. Irish. Need Leprechaun glue.

    Welcome to the Jungle.

  129. MattyBoy November 3, 2012 12:59 pm

Is Chow being an idiot on purpose? What’s wrong with him? Why is he not making any adjustments?

  130. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:01 pm

Good news from this game they are stopping the run game but the passing game is another thing. Our Offense has been playing as it has been this whole season NO RHYTHM!

  131. brad November 3, 2012 1:01 pm

    It’s a thing called EGO

  132. cee808 November 3, 2012 1:02 pm

Well, on the positive side, the defense will get 2+ years of game experience this season.

  133. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 1:04 pm

God is in the Irish stands.

  134. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 1:06 pm

Picture In Picture is da bomb. Go Warriors and Manti!

  135. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:06 pm

The Chances of seeing david Graves is 0-5% chance because Chow has CLEARLY stated no matter what Sean Schroder will be the started start to finish UNLESS he gets hurt which is sad this offense needs a SPARK and David Graves could lite it but we will never know. Schroder is taking a beating this season and he could get really hurt if this keeps happening.

  136. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 1:07 pm

OK ND up to you now.

  137. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:07 pm

  145. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:15 pm

Great day of college football action.

  152. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:23 pm

@140 I know it kind’ve disheartens me Graves was a great player and i honestly think he deserved better but its so irritiating how we are getting BLOWN OUT from every single team we play i wouldnt even mind a losing season if we actually had closer games.

This game we have only 33 yards and we lead in time of possesion Fresno has 19 plays for 180 yards

  153. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 1:24 pm

    Depressing.

  154. Matt November 3, 2012 1:24 pm

  163. obachan November 3, 2012 1:36 pm

#140 anyone know why the “blacklist” – why can’t a dedicated player who puts in the time/effort to practice not be allowed to suit up for the games?

  164. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 1:41 pm

    161. our DC is a big problem too, i tried to tell folks. da bugga’s D-philosophy and schemes are off. you eva wonda why we have so much arm tackling? cuz assignment/alignment, da players are out of position, das just one of his problem, and its not the players fault–deh playing hard.

  165. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 1:42 pm

I’m kind of glad Oceanic blacked out the game. I’d be even more depressed.

    Yeah points!!!!!!

  169. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 1:43 pm

    162. von appen’s teams for the most part were competitive. chow’s teams get blown-out.

  170. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 1:47 pm

too many great games on at the same time. Oregon V USC, LSU V ‘Bama, SMU V UCF

  171. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 1:49 pm

Oregon’s offense is crazy, TD again. lol 34-17

  172. puhi November 3, 2012 1:50 pm

    Aloha kakou,

Let’s see, I could spend $65 to watch my team get lickings or I can watch all kinds of other games for FREE!!! It costs more to watch a mainland game on TV than it costs to actually go to the game!

Now If I was a 16 year old recruit, what games am I watching? Not the UH games. Oh, except for the Lamar game, the recruit can watch that gem 30-50 times if he wants to.

So what school will he end up going to? Iʻve seen more Notre Dame, USC and Stanford games than Iʻve seen UH games. And I havenʻt missed a home game for 20 years!

    Go figure.

    Thanks for the whine session.

    kden, Puhi

  173. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 1:51 pm

    I’m going to go vote…

  174. markazulu November 3, 2012 1:52 pm

damn Oregon is killing USC right now by the way it looks i think Oregon could possibly score 100 points 😉

  175. BowNatic November 3, 2012 1:53 pm

  177. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 1:56 pm

    34-24 oregon, USC just scored

  178. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:01 pm

35-3 FSU, 3 min to go in 1st half

  179. markazulu November 3, 2012 2:02 pm

I love the decisions Chow has made off the field except taking the names off the jersey. But On the field this season has been tough to watch i guess its karma for me because i laughed at when Detroit went 0-18 and miami went 1-17 but ill give Chow 2 years if they arent at the very least COMPETITIVE Losing seasons happen i expected that this year but i DIDNT EXPECT them to be blown out EVERY GAME thats not the players fault thats COACHING Errors i know players are the ones out there but if we are getting blown out every game i think it clearly is Coaching Error. I dont wanna say ive given up on Chow but for this season ive been deflated ill keep cheering for our boys and hoping we win but this season has just been so disheartening.

  180. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:02 pm

USC game is all offense V offense lol fun game

  181. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:05 pm

chow deserves what he gets for being so stubborn. i passed on the $6.99 PPV for this game, no sense in watching chow do the same thing no matter what the score.

  182. Matt November 3, 2012 2:05 pm

    42-3 Fresno. Yikes.

  183. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 2:07 pm

    Alright… This is really depressing… I need a drink…

  184. wth November 3, 2012 2:07 pm

When the announcers are asking WHY??? AND We only have 92 yards of offense in the 1st half 🙁

  185. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:09 pm

chow doesn’t use the offensive talent he has to the max. the DC…. well, he is what he is.

  186. obachan November 3, 2012 2:11 pm

I know UH players keep competing and don’t give up but watching Oregon’s offense and Hawaii’s is like watching a bullet train compared to a hand car.

  187. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 2:11 pm

Anybody else out dea use the ESPN Score Center App. Set favorite teams and get notifications any time your team(s) play. Frequency depends on your settings. As dey say on Maui “Some Good!”

  188. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 2:13 pm

    187 Grandma “Good Analogy”. Hehe

  189. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:15 pm

put a running QB in there, at least he will pick-up 1st downs once in awhile. it will give the O another dimension that we sorely lack.

our opponent’s DC has an easy job scheming against our O. put eight in da box, pin their ears back and come after our QB is all they have to do.

  190. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:16 pm

21-10 UCF over SMU in da 3rd

  200. Wassup November 3, 2012 2:26 pm

Wow. Blown out every week. I’m eating my shoe for grumbling about Mack and his staff last year. This really sucks.

  201. BowNatic November 3, 2012 2:26 pm

If Hawaii keeps hiring proven failures from the past, and does nothing to infuse any sort of new thinking into the program, this travesty will continue unabated for years. Anyone with talent from Hawaii, Samoa, or the West Coast will sign with any other team then Hawaii.

You have to spend the money to earn the money.

  202. WWF November 3, 2012 2:29 pm

Former Interim HC Rich Miano with offensive coordinator Nick Rolovich with defensive coordinator Dave Aranda

sounds like a dream team right now . . .

  203. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 2:29 pm

    199. hi BGW, yes…competitive, LOL…. as in the score was closer and not a complete blow-out with no hope. that’s all i meant. lol

hey, that USC Oregon game is one for the ages, all offense.

  204. GA Warrior November 3, 2012 2:30 pm

And you didnt think it could get any worse……Chow has to be the only coach who would not make a qb change, it doesnt matter if he thinks they aren’t as good, what could it hurt? Pathetic….

  205. Bleed Green and White November 3, 2012 2:31 pm

    Oregon / USC rocks…!

  206. Matt November 3, 2012 2:32 pm

Fresno coach already putting in the backups at start of 3rd quarter.

  207. Warrior in Georgia November 3, 2012 2:33 pm

Wait, doesn’t Fresno State have a new coach and offensive system??? How dare he actually coach and succeed with another coaches players. According to some of you football genuises, that can’t happen because our great coach isn’t succeeding with his new team. We are the laughingstock of college football thanks to coach chow. Hey, pass the Kool-Aid!!!!!

  208. iwonderwhytheyhateme November 3, 2012 2:33 pm

209.. that just shows how little respect FSU coaches have for chow and our DC. pitiful.

  216. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 2:42 pm

What if Shroeder can’t come back? Does our #2 give us less of a chance than an injured Shroeder?

  217. GA Warrior November 3, 2012 2:45 pm

agree #216, to start the second half with your backups is already conceding that Hawaii will not even be a threat to come back. Sad, our players deserve better than this….

  218. Whats up November 3, 2012 2:47 pm

Im at another Warriors game in person, not to many Hawaii fans here at Fresno State. But Chow has to put in David Graves already. SS is not cutting it! The defense has been on the field all game, they need help.

  250. AlaWai November 3, 2012 3:35 pm

2nd Stringers in against shock troops. Higgins looks the best so far. Dr. Chow giving in to fans. Will see how it translates to reps at practice and in future games.

  260. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 3:38 pm

Has Darius Bright been in the whole game? Why isn’t he targeted more?

  264. 702WarriorFan November 3, 2012 3:39 pm

Hey I thought Chow didn’t bring any extra QBs, thats why he only played SS. We had 2(Shutter & Higgins) QBs sitting on the bench?

    Jeremy Higgins 4 starter!!!!!!!

  268. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 3:41 pm

It seems like Shutter didn’t really get a shot to prove what he can do… He just handed the ball off every time…

  269. markazulu November 3, 2012 3:42 pm

I hope Higgins gets more reps darn it. This offense NEEDS a Spark and he might do it

  270. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 3:43 pm

yup, u never know what you have unless you give them a chance to play when the lights are on. higgins td was against back-ups but so what. higgins showed another dimension for our O in running the football in.

that is all some of us called for was to give another QB a shot when the game got out of hand and see what u have.

some posters here will have to eat some crow. and you know who you are.

  271. Manoa November 3, 2012 3:46 pm

Sad to see Chow get his first chance as a head coach, and this happens to him.

He has made a lot of money and is set for life. I think he could fight on and maybe improve things a little next year. But he should do himself a favor and retire at the end of the season. Hire an interim coach. Then look again for a coach.

  272. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 3:47 pm

45-10. would have been closer to 75-10 is FSU didnt pull their starters at the half.

  273. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 3:48 pm

chow did it to himself, hard-headed bugga.

  274. Bugaz November 3, 2012 3:50 pm

  275. markazulu November 3, 2012 3:51 pm

If I hear Norm Chow in the post game saying “No doubt about it Sean Schroder is my QB” im gonna be upset! hahaha at least make it seem like your WILLING to look at your other options. Higgins despite playing against reserves lead your team to a quick score he was efficent, Give Shutter more look Schroder is tough ill give him that he takes a lickin but im afraid for his health and i dont see a spark when he is out there we NEED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW What better time to do it than when Boise Comes down.

  276. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 3:51 pm

55-45 oregon, 4min to play Oregon ball

  277. Bugaz November 3, 2012 3:53 pm

The worst part of it is that, I am not so confident that Schroeder could have scored the touchdown if he stayed in.

  278. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 3:54 pm

mobile QBs give the offense another dimension the opposing DC has to account for. the offensive guru is a joke for not giving his team a chance to be competitive.

  279. Bugaz November 3, 2012 3:55 pm

Lack of faith, but who ever is in, see ya at the Aloha

  280. AlaWai November 3, 2012 3:58 pm

Watched Texas A&M and now Oregon. Traditional Offenses and Defenses cannot keep up with Speed. Only superior strength and skill teams like Bama and LSU can stall them. Power football may be tried and true but Speed Kills. BTW, Oregon white unis are futuristic like Apple vs old school IBM.

  281. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 4:00 pm

    62-45 oregon

  282. markazulu November 3, 2012 4:00 pm

Schroder is a tough guy but if he keeps getting hit like this im afraid we might get a Greg Alexander situation on us again were he has to go outta there comfort zone and gets wacked crazy an get hurt. I wouldnt mind seeing someone more mobile especially since we have a young o line. Higgins gives us that extra dimension and i feel shutter does to schroder i think has tunnel vision and seems to lock on a reciever i really feel bad for the kid i know hes trying hard but if its not working on the field as i said we need a spark and i think a switch at qb.

  283. Chicken Grease November 3, 2012 4:09 pm

  286. westwind November 3, 2012 4:22 pm

IMO, Coach Chow would have considered B Moniz, I Funake, T Graunke, and C Brennan as unacceptable as quarterbacks. But, the proof is that they could make plays. They could win games. As a UH grad, a longtime season ticket holder, PPV subscriber and supporter of UH Athletics I am quite frustrated with the coaching. “SS is our best chance for being successful.” SS got pounded by the Fresno Bulldogs all through the first half. Finally, into the third quarter with SS nursing a sore shoulder/arm, he’s finally replaced by C Schutter and then J Higgins. It is Higgins who finally scores (against the second team defense). Wasn’t he another quarterback who didn’t measure up.

  287. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 4:27 pm

Thank god Fresno called off the Dogs in the second half. I thought after having been beaten in their own house for three straight seasons they would keep pouring it on. Then I remembered, they have a 1st year coach… what does he know, eh? Phew… !

  288. tommui November 3, 2012 4:29 pm

#288 westwind. SS may be our best QB – but sometimes it is better to be lucky than be good.

And maybe Matt Barkley should have gone to the NFL last year when his stock was high!

  289. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 4:38 pm

Higgins completed 4 out of 5 passes… What happened? Did the receivers suddenly run the right patterns and get open? Or was it because Fresno was simply playing their third stringers?

  290. JV November 3, 2012 4:41 pm

I wish UH hired Fresno’s coach instead of Chow 🙁

Cant believe we are stuck with a has been over the hill old coach.

  291. westwind November 3, 2012 4:44 pm

SS does not make reads. He tends to focus on one receiver thereby negating a possible open one. He throws into coverage. And if the receiver is open overthrows him. And then if he threads the needle, the receiver drops/misses the ball. There doesn’t appear to be any chemistry.

  292. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 4:46 pm

    291. fresneck had 2-3rd stringers in according to da radio guys, but they did say higgins passes came out on time and were on the mark. that’s good enough for me. lol

  293. jonj November 3, 2012 4:48 pm

All i gotta say is you can see how the team feels about SS when no one talks to him and you can also see the disconnect when no one on the sidelines are talking with Chow! not even his assistants. theres an obvious disconnect and they dont wanna play for those 2. its not necessarily SS fault that chows favoring him so hard. But chow is doing him a injustice. The players obviously backed the other 2 (shutter n higgins) its ashame chow didnt really give shutter a chance, but you could see the quicker release and ability to avoid the rush. Yeah maybe it was against the 2nd n 3rd team, but SS in the 3rd went up against the same guys and when they threw in the other 2 guys he also put in the rest of the 2nd team. there for it was 2nd n 3rds vs 2nd n 3rds!

  294. cocobean November 3, 2012 4:56 pm

Didn’t see or hear the game. What happened?

Really thought Chow would get creative to give his team a chance to score. He should know by now that what he’s been trying to do isn’t working. He’s tried the pro set, shotgun, four wide, five wide and no huddle but all with the underlying theme of trying to move the ball in small increments and controling the clock. This team has shown that a missed block, dropped pass or a penalty is all it takes to stymie any type of sustained drive. And that’s not even taking into account how formidible the opposing defense is.

Even Dick Tomey recognized years ago that the game is changing. When he was a commentor in JJ’s early years he did say that now offenses need to get yards in “chunks.” That’s the first time I heard anyone use the term getting yards in chunks and this was from Dick “run the ball and give yourself a chance to win it in the 4th” Tomey.

Look at Tomey’s tenure at San Jose. With the talent he had he got very “creative” with his O. Remember the last time he played here? The SJSU O was nothing like a Tomey type O. SJSU was talent deficient but still gave us a good scare.

Coach Chow I’m not asking you to change personell or scrap what you belive in. Just get out of your comfort zone and get more creative. We need points we need to yards in “chunks.” We got to get competitive.

  295. kawika49 November 3, 2012 4:56 pm

‘Sheesh, let’s get over this season already.

  296. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 5:01 pm

Are you kidding? The way our Warriors are playing, they need all the practice they can get!

  297. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 5:02 pm

    The includes the coaches!

  298. cocobean November 3, 2012 5:05 pm

BTW. I know most people believe we don’t have the right type of athletes to play his system. Most are willing to give Chow 2-3 years more to get “his” tyoe of players. So am I.

BUT. Most of the type of athletes that Coach needs to run his O are playing in the SEC. Coach go through your volumes of playbooks and find plays that fit the athletes you are likely to get rather than the type of athletes you hope to get.

  299. westwind November 3, 2012 5:07 pm

I for one don’t buy the idea that the cupboard was left empty by Coach Mac. I think alot of us have more respect for the talents of our young men than Coach Chow. Example, when in recent memory have our coaches told our players not to suit up for a game. If you practice all week, you suit for the game. If thiis is BCS, bigboy football, I don’t want it. Additionally, playing Iz’s “Country Home”, don’t make what is being done acceptable. In other words, talk Ohana and yet act mainland cutthroat.

    300. an offensive guru would adjust the system to the players strength. you can’t wait 2-3 years to win, this is D1 football. this is where chow is messing up IMO.

  304. cocobean November 3, 2012 5:21 pm

42-3 at the half? I guess we were over matched from the beginning. I knew we would give up points but was hoping we could keep within two possessions going into the half.

To be down by 6 possessions going into the locker room must have been deflating to the coaches and players. Not even close to a moral victory to win the second half 7-3.

  305. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 5:28 pm

    306. FSU was playing guys not even on the depth chart according to the radio guys. pretty pathetic.

being spanked that bad is being out-coached.

  306. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 5:48 pm

Am I just delirious or did I hear one of the guys on the radio on that post game show just say Shroeder reminds him a bit of Eli Manning? (when they were talking about offenses) Sorry I actually like Shroeder and think if he had some time, he’d perform much better… But comparing the guy to Eli Manning. The most clutch player in the NFL… SMH…

The guy also said the NY Giants (and Packers) run a precision offense like the West Coast Offense when really the Giants actually run an offense that’s more like the run n shoot than anything. They just pound it to establish the run with a TE and lining up under center. But in their passing game, receiver routes are similar to the R&S. Thanks in large part to Kevin Gilbride… I still wonder what would have happened in 2008, if the Giants didn’t go on their Super Bowl run if Kevin Gilbride would’ve be our head coach…

  307. Not an Expert November 3, 2012 5:49 pm

This path has cometh because of our leaders. Why? When a coach takes a football team to a BCS bowl that should of been a stepping stone for greater things to happen. Leaders whoever they are or were messed up not securing Jones. Jones feeling no support of what he had accomplished does not give a hoot anymore. He is looking to moving on. Thus he let his team have a great time at the Sugar Bowl and had no desire in showing well or winning the game. He felt let down and so he himself did the same to his team. His statement to the team about you guys are already winners and the game is like a bonus. (Something to that nature) He knew that the potential to parlay the success was no where to be found. Don’t blame him to looking out for himself after that. Sad in a way that many players in my opinion lost some respect for him.

Fast forward that is why we are where we are for UH football. We have gone backwards since 2007 when we should of been moving on up. Lame and now we are fighting another uphill climb and are being left behind the college football landscape.

Thus it is not our coaches that are to blame but our leaders who had and have no vision or desire to have UH be a top notch division one team.

  309. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 5:54 pm

Here’s the box score from last year’s Hawaii, Fresno State game. We lost by 3. The difference is not the players. It’s not really “the system.” It’s Chow. No Moniz in that game, only David Graves enterinig in second quarter and bringing the team back. Kid demoted to WR scout team only and scored 5 touchdowns against the #1 D this week in one practice. Team leader, good grades, graduating early. So why is that Chow and asst coaches top priority with Graves is trying to get him to quit? There is mining for scholarships, which is a shame, and then there is outright stupidity.

  310. Not an Expert November 3, 2012 5:59 pm

I mentioned many years back that if UH is going to be successful they need leaders who has the vision and the commitment to support the program to become a top notch division one team. They have received exactly what they wanted, for the results today is exactly what their unspoken intent is.

  311. Not an Expert November 3, 2012 6:00 pm

Ranting and raving about players and coaches will continue and may get worse until the day the commitment comes from the top and money and facilities are invested into the program.

  312. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 6:02 pm

Coach Chow is doing what he can with the players he has. It’s just a really hard year but people need to look forward… I really think Coach Chow will get the players he needs to run his system… Coach Demerest will open up a recruiting pipeline to places we’ve never had a shot… (Florida–Phillips and Jackson are prime examples)

My only issue this year is Kaumeyer… I don’t know if it’s because of the injuries or what but I thought our defense would be good this year… I don’t know why we can’t stop anyone…

  313. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 6:11 pm

    Ao no ho’i,

Fresno is a much better team this year running a much more explosive offense… Their defense is much better as well…

We all like Graves and feel really bad for what has happened to him but unfortunately he just doesn’t fit Coach Chow’s system… He was the heir apparent in a system that is no longer at Hawaii…

Square pegs into round holes… Imagine Graves in Nevada’s or Oregon’s offense… He’d be great… I think all of us on this blog feel for the kid and hope the best for him…

  314. obachan November 3, 2012 6:13 pm

#314 One of the distinguishing marks of a good coach is that he creates his playbook based on the talents and characteristics of existing players. Don’t know if Chow flexed his system enough in his 1st year of being head coach -tried to force to many circles in square pukas.

  315. westwi.d November 3, 2012 6:17 pm

I would like to see Coach Chow win. But, he has to figure this out himself. Hawaii is not USC, BYU, or UTAH. What was in the past is past history. A person/coach cannot be rigid to what exsists in the college environment. And this is not the NFL. Don’t make it more difficult than it needs to be. Example, take advantage of your player’s talents. Not just the ones you recruited. If you continue to do what youv’e been doing, then there can be no happy ending. People and the media will continue to say give him 2-3 years to get the players he needs to run his system. IMO we’ll have a hard time achieving this. So do we continue losing in big embarrassing blowouts? How long can this be sustained? And why would any local young man want to play for UH knowing how some of the athletes are be treated.

  316. Dress for Success November 3, 2012 6:25 pm

Undeniably imagine that that you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the easiest factor to remember of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed even as people think about issues that they just don’t realize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and outlined out the whole thing with no need side effect , other people could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thank you

  317. cocobean November 3, 2012 6:26 pm

The defense is broken. The DT rotation is way out of whack and it’s affecting other positions on the D line. That’s why I feel it’s up to the offense to answer scores by the opposition to give us a chance to win it in the end.

When the D is giving up points and the O not producing the game is basiclly over by half time. Boise has a similar offensive philosophy as us. Establish the run pass off of play action. But Boise has shown to be more creative in thier play calling when creativity is called for.

BTW. Whoever saw the game. How many running plays did we have out of the gun? Noticing more Pro teams calling running plays out of the gun. We do run a Pro style O , right?

  318. 3-Prong November 3, 2012 6:29 pm

Higgins=Hope. Nice quick release. Spins the ball well and gets it into the hands of the receivers early for better RAC. I know, against 2nd and 3rd stringers and success on just 1 drive but isn’t it worth another look coach?

  319. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 6:32 pm

Sorry WarriorNY, I know you are a true fan and I agree Graves could excel there, but I don’t buy that he couldn’t here. Chow got angry with Graves, Higgins, basically all the QBs for checking down to the run in the Spring when the pocket collapsed, which pretty much happened every play because the O line was in miserable shape in the Spring. I think the disconnect was, a checkdown against a run normally makes sense when no one is open, especially against Man D when everyone’s back is to you, but Chow wanted to see plays develop. As crazy as it sounds, Chow got so angry with Graves and others that he made some decisions at that point, including a 3 year back up at Duke…

To say a QB who has the talent to play RNS doesn’t fit in pro-style is non sensical. What part doesn’t fit? Because he has the talent to run? Crazy. Of course not. Arm strength? Nope. Schroeder lobs it nicely, but unfortunately does it every play. Accuracy? Graves completion percentages last year were higher than Schroeders, more yards per pass, and what did he have, one INT? Most of those passes came from the pocket, when there was one. Plus, RNS a way more complex system than Chows, where a single pass play might have up to 24 options on receiver reads, etc. A RNS QB easily picks up this old school system.

Sorry to ramble, but SO tired of the “doesn’t fit system” argument. Does that mean Higgins doesn’t fit the system? Chow is mining for scholarships, and Graves and about 25 others are on that list.

  323. madeinhawaii November 3, 2012 6:47 pm

Actually i wanted to keep the RnS alive and well in Hawaii.

  324. cocobean November 3, 2012 6:48 pm

To run the Pro set the QB should have all the traditional skills QBs had when they started taking snaps from under center. Starts with surveying the D, taking the snap and the proper footwork on the retreat whether it’s a running or pass play. Ballhanding – handing it off or faking.

In JJ’s R&S the QB had no check downs and involved very little ball handling duties. Rolo did add a little ball fakes. In both R&S footwork on passes 2-3 steps – pro set 3 – 5 -7 step drops which must be prcticed to precision,

To Chow’s trained eyes he saw Schroeder as possessing the most traditional QB skills. Arm strenght and escapability has little importance in his decision on who starts.

  325. WarriorNY November 3, 2012 6:50 pm

    Ao no ho’i,

I understand your argument and frustrations. I think there’s a lot more difficulty than people realize in this new offense like taking snaps under center, play action, or just a complete understanding of his playbook…

I feel horrible for Graves. But I also feel horrible for Shroeder because he has had an O-Line that’s been horrible and receivers that aren’t great…

  326. Matt November 3, 2012 6:54 pm

It would be hard to imagine HAWAII being like a USC or OHIO STATE. THEY and the SEC have an over abundance of talent. On the other hand HAWAII has been rather lucky with the athletes it has recruited. WHAT makes you think all of a sudden your’e going to get a lot of talented athletes that wev’e never had before? You say Demerest has a pipeline to Florida. You don’t think our previous coaches had connections? Reality sometime sucks. But it was it is.

SDSU is in victory formation about to beat Boise 21-19.

  334. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 7:08 pm

Except for Pollard we have the same receivers as last year. We had O-line issues last year. But no sense going back and forth. Forget QB. Graves is one of many but perhaps the most visible poster child of bad mojo that this staff has inflicted. Graves was on travel team and making plays on special teams two years ago. So, what’s different now? From what I hear, he is more than willing to play anywhere, has been a receiver since first week of Aug and has excelled there at practice. So what exactly motivates the coaches to blacklist kids like Graves?

  335. cocobean November 3, 2012 7:08 pm

I feel for Graves. A lot of people feel for Graves. Looks like to Chow he is the Anti-QB.

Chow was smart to move Graves to another position. He nipped any sentiment to give Graves a shot in the bud. He didn’t want a Sanchez/Tebow type situation on his hands.

But then again he may have outsmarted himself but not fully exploring what he do with Graves.

  336. cocobean November 3, 2012 7:09 pm

  338. Ao no ho'i November 3, 2012 7:15 pm

Cocobean, I think when Chow said “We need Graves outside” 4 or 5 weeks ago, he meant outside the bus, outside the plane, outside the stadium.

Coach Chow, please find a way to put points on the board. Give the team a chance to win it in the 4th.

    Obviously off topic:

As of tonight, over 107,000 people have watched the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team this season live at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Granted that is tickets issues so give or take 1,000 – 1,500 on any given night, but still…

Congrats to Dave Shoji for building the MECCA of womens volleyball right in our backyard!

  356. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 8:19 pm

what’s the average attendance for home wahine games?

  357. cocobean November 3, 2012 8:33 pm

The Rainbow Wahine….Hawaii’s most beloved team. A team Hawaii sports fans can hang their fandom esteem on.

  358. Kevin November 3, 2012 8:34 pm

Anywhere between lowest turnstile I saw reported this year was less than 2500 but it was a exhibition style general admission game. Highest turnstile I saw was just over 7,000.

I think the arena has maybe 8,500 seats in normal basketball / volleyball configuration. 10,000 if you fill up the floor… Maybe…

  359. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:41 pm

Boy, that was a tough game to watch . . . again. I will try to hold my tongue, but must ask . . . was that Shutter’s chance? Bring him in and run, run, run, etc.? Then you bring in Higgins and pass, pass, pass, etc.? For those that are hopeful that one of them will will start next week, don’t hold your breath. IMO, the reason he didn’t give just one guy a chance to show his stuff was so he could stick with Schroeder.

While Higgins brought a spark (if you can call a score against Fresno’s 4th stringers a spark), he seems like Schroeder 2.0 in terms of his release, arm strength, and velocity. I was really hoping to see more of Shutter. I’ll roll with whoever at this point. Just improve.

  360. kev-1 November 3, 2012 8:49 pm

Well, looks like SDSU is legit.

  361. Buffoman November 3, 2012 8:54 pm

For those who use Graves as an example, well it seems that Steel Jantz did not fit in Rolo’s/Mack’s system but is excelling in ISU’s. And according to what was stated, UH under Mack and Rolo did not pursue Marriota. Okay, so it is what it is. Hey, we may not like SS but he may have fit in Chow’s system. I remember folks bemoaning the fact that UH did not give Steel Jantz a chance under Rolo and Mack.

Everyone has an opinion. Coach’s call and like he said last week, if his bosses don’t like the results they can always fire him.

I’m like Kev-1 I’ll be a fan, be frustrated and I’ll roll with whoever.

BTW, it seemed that Carr had all day and tomorrow to look for his receivers and we seemed to have less time (although SS does hold the ball too long).

  362. PurpleMaple November 3, 2012 9:03 pm

If the program continues to lose fans at the gate, they may have to. Next year will be critical.

  363. kev-1 November 3, 2012 9:03 pm

Carr also throws a really nice deep pass. I don’t think he should go pro yet, like they keep talking about. Unfortunately, scouts will worry because his brother was an NFL semi-bust.

  364. PurpleMaple November 3, 2012 9:12 pm

Besides the Wahine attendance/ticket revenue, UH keeps the parking and concession money. At Aloha Stadium, they get none of that. Wahine volleyball is a real money-maker.

College football is no longer anything resembling what is was 20 years ago. It is now moneyball. Coaches look at their rosters like executives taking over a company. Loyalty to the school is myth. Seniors and juniors or the concept of upper classmen is a vanishing idea. Now Division 1 programs are committing to 8th graders.

NCAA scholarships are one year renewable at the coaches option. UH used to honor an athlete’s scholarship regardless of the coach if the player made grades and was not a felon. They no longer do that. They have adopted the Chow mainland approach to football. Screw the player, we gotta make some money. Dead wood is cut and cut quickly.

Chow has been doing a lot of cutting since January. But he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

Also please don’t reference Chow to Jesus – it is perverted and stupid.

First two FSU possessions UH not blitzing playing coverage.

I think Jesus wanted man to recognize unbridled accusation of others. We should not use “perverted” and “stupid” in the same sentence that states Jesus (see 2nd Commandment).

Here’s to a strengthening angel to Chow the same way one was sent to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Let the Divine Will (a Grease uses a general expression in consideration of all spiritual, religious, and faith-believers) take place.

  376. westwind November 3, 2012 9:58 pm

Sometimes, a coach does not mesh with a school/team. The net result is the destruction and total makeover unto something we don’t recognize or even want. For those of you who have enjoyed Warrior Football in the past, you know what I mean. Just the transformation of our defensively line this season is troubling. Yes we have been racked by a lot of injuries. But as others have said before, “Are we improving or going backwards.” Kinda makes you wonder if the coaches really know what there’re doing. 40-3 just in the first half!

  377. SAWARRIOR November 3, 2012 10:08 pm

we have good players to be competitive but chow’s and kaumeyer’s schemes and/or philosophies are crap. IMO

  378. cocobean November 3, 2012 10:21 pm

Third UH possession fumble, Fourth three and out. Shank punt leaving short field. Poor blocking at heart of the problem in these two possessions.

FSU third possess, trick play TD. Fourth short field mixing run and pass. UH blitz on 3rd D got burned with short pass/long run to RB. Wildcat their way in for 3rd TD.

  379. westwind November 3, 2012 10:25 pm

Just like in the NFL, an offensive coordinators might not be a successful headcoach. So the same must be true in the col”‘

  380. cocobean November 3, 2012 10:30 pm

Seen enough to surmise we’re physically over matched. Carr has time to pass, Rouse has holes to run through.

Schroeder is risking physical injury evry time he passes, Joey has to make his own holes to gain yardage. FSU has more speed on both sides of the ball.

  381. Derek November 3, 2012 10:36 pm

I don’t like the pro set offense. To me, for college, the best offense is the spread offense.

You need an athletic QB ala Mariota, Manziel, Fajardo, Golston, Bridgewater, Klein etc. There are a lot of QBs who can throw well and who are also mobile. Unfortunately, Chow is old school and is stubborn and as such the game is passing him by. The younger coaches like Chip Kelly, Chris Peterson, and others are opening up the offense and are very imaginative and creative and are more willing to take risks. At least in the run and shoot UH was a good bet to score around 30 points or more. Now, under Chow’s offense we are hard pressed to even get to 20 points. We scored 23 points against New Mexico and 27 points against Colorado St. yet we lost by 12 against New Mexico and 15 to Colorado State.

Every other loss was a blowout against USC, BYU, Nevada, San Diego St., and Fresno St.

Since Boise St. lost at home against SD St. the Broncos will be in a foul mood this coming Saturday and will take it out on our poor Warriors. Another wipeout for sure. It’s sad, but at the same time, laughable. I had Fresno St. 66-10. I didn’t anticipate the Fresno St. starters would be pulled after halftime. I think the Fresno St. coach showed some pity.

Thankfully, UH basketball is on tap this coming weekend which is more encouraging.

  382. cocobean November 3, 2012 11:13 pm

I don’t know about this year but Boise has always been a QB under center run first team. Defense has always been their calling card.

Their O does get creative when the situation calls for it and they’ll mix in option much like how JJ did to change things up.

  383. cocobean November 3, 2012 11:30 pm

The O only scored 16 against New Mexico if you take out the 100yd KO return. And 20 if you take out the fumble return for a TD. Of the 20 seven came on a one yard drive after the on side kickoff return by Lister.

Chow has to dig deep into his play books or draw up new plays to put points on the board.

  384. cocobean November 3, 2012 11:32 pm

Damn FSU did start their reserves in the third.

  385. iwonderwhytheyhateme November 3, 2012 11:45 pm

There was chatter on this blog during the preseason that UH had enough talent on the team to be competitive even with the new system. Not great, but competitive.

I believed the above. I did not think the pro style offense was going to be this fricken hard for us to implement. It really looks like the players are moving mountains just to get positive yards. Tooth and nail to get a first down. Dang =(. Very frustrating to watch as it brings back some memories of another dark period of UH football.

I guess the positive from this game is that none of our guys had a season ending injury.

  386. cocobean November 4, 2012 12:04 am

Asked earlier if UH ran out of the gun. Glad to see them doing so. With the state of our blocking thought it might be easier to create creases.

  387. iwonderwhytheyhateme November 4, 2012 12:13 am

In addition to hanging on to the ball for a little too long, SS has a Tebow-esque like windup. Higgins seems to have a much quicker release.

  388. cocobean November 4, 2012 12:26 am

Schroeder might stay on the spot too long because he’s not very mobile. His throwing motion is better than Tebow but his arm strenght is lacking.

  389. 3-Prong November 4, 2012 12:43 am

IWWTHM: 389: Agree. The windup telegraphs the pass to defender and delays the balls arrival. Agree also with Arcineaux’s assessment that this now creates controversy.

  390. cocobean November 4, 2012 12:48 am

Liked what I saw in Higgins. Reminds me of Kellen Moore. Not the biggest player, lefty with so-so arm strenght but knows how to make plays.

  391. 3-Prong November 4, 2012 12:49 am

Unfortunately, I can hear the coach say that Shroeder is still his quarterback. Wonder if Kelaula will press him on possible change on Inside Access.

  392. 3-Prong November 4, 2012 12:59 am

Even the post game analysis with Dash, Nasty, and Lafaele recognize the spark provided and seem to recommend a change.

“Schramm put together a nice offensive scheme,” Kaumeyer said. “If you take away the pass, they’ll run the ball. If you try to load the box, they’ll throw it.”

This quote makes me laugh. Didn’t know that was how you put together a nice offensive scheme to counter a defense. Shute seems simple as hell. The defense is loading the box, hmm…I think I should pass. Wait the safeties are deep and linebackers are backed up, hmm…maybe I should run the ball. I think Kaumeyer is just getting outcoached because his “schemes” are predictable.

Thank you Coach Chow for putting the other QB’s in the game an actually giving well Higgins a chance to throw the ball. It’s all we’ve asked is to give another QB a look and thanks for that. It may have been against the bench of Fresno, but seemed like Higgins was doing what he needed to do and holy crap the QB actually ran the ball for a TD? If Sean Schroeder would use his instincts and run when he needs to, it would be another element to his game to help the offense out. Okay Coach says sit in the pocket don’t run, but frikk if I’m in the game and I see I’m about to get trucked, best believe I’m hauling ass out of the pocket and gaining some yards. Coach isn’t playing the game and I’m pretty sure he will give you a harp on the sidelines but if you are gaining positive yards and moving the offense forward instead of backward, he will bite his lip a little bit. Oh well, you all have said enough but again thanks Coach for giving Higgins and Shutter a little PT. Now you see what you can build upon with what little Higgins proved to you. Schroeder is still the guy but you do have ballers right behind him Coach, hint hint???
