Friday musings

Wideout Royce Pollard is quarterback/stylist Shane Austin’s latest client.

The way it works is a teammate makes a suggestion, sometimes making an illustration, and Austin does the rest. Austin believes in working without, uh, a hair net, so it’s all freestyle, no outlines.

“You have to trust the process and go for it,” Austin said. “There’s no holding back. If you make a mistake, you can’t erase it.”

Well, at least the players wear helmets. But so far, Austin’s work has drawn praise. Pollard suggested his own design.

“I aim to please,” Austin said. “I give the crowd what they want.”

His clientele also includes slotback Greg Salas and himself, although Austin does a basic cut on himself.

* * * * *

UH defensive end Siaki Cravens and Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron are first cousins. Cameron’s older brother, Jordan Camerson, was a reserve wide receiver at USC.

Cravens and Colby Cameron played in separate leagues growing up in Southern California, and this will be the first time they will be on opposing sides.

“He’s a good dude,” Cravens said. “It’s not going to be as friendly as it usually is, but after the game, it’ll be all good.”

Cravens said Cameron is a “humble guy” who is not interested in bragging rights. Although they also are good friends, Cravens said he knows there might be a point when they are on the field together.

“I won’t feel bad if I have to sack him,” Cravens said. “I’ll give him tough love, family love.”

* * * * *

During a practice this week, a couple of first-team offensive linemen marveled at the skill level of the second unit. The No. 2 line is: left tackle Kainoa LaCount, left guard Brett Leonard, center Matagisila Lefiiti, right guard Chauncy Winchester-Makainai, and right tackle Levi Legay. All but LaCount will be back next season. Lefiiti should be back to full game strength by next week. With the five freshman linemen redshirting, the Warriors appear to have developed a cycle of depth on the line.

* * * * *

I did a little informal poll, and I was told that the players to watch for 2011 are Donnie King, who can play slotback or running back, and defensive linemen Marcus Malepeai and Moses Samia.

* * * * *

Because of injuries, some players just fade away. That was the case last year with defensive ends Aaron Rink and Cameron Allen-Jones — both could not get healthy after accidents — and this year with defensive lineman Michael Maracle. Good guys who left the program honorably.

I was thinking the other day that some of the best fans are parents of players who don’t start. They’re very supportive of the team, even if their sons have less playing time.

Bill Stutzmann was one of those guys. Now he gets to be the other guy: A parent of a starter. It would be nice if the other parents root for Billy Ray Stutzmann as much as Bill Stutzamann rooted for their sons.

  42. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 9:30 am

With all this WAC and other Conference reshuffling… UH might do well to focus their recruiting efforts here at home and with the JC’s that have 3 to play two. The JCs will know that UH will still be playing D1 while they are active on the Roster. The Local Boys that want to play for the home team in front of the home crowd, will come regardless and have faith.

  43. d1島 October 1, 2010 9:30 am

Good results so far for the OL have resulted in some acclaim for Coach Shaw but also need to commend the previously much-maligned Coach B Smith for the play of the RB’s in the pass pro schemes so far.

If the RB’s fail in the 7-man pass pro, the receivers never get the ball…

Idaho’s AD sent an e-mail to their boosters explaining the WAC’s expansion plans.

Although we have not made any formal invitations, we are exploring various scenarios that include:

    — Nine football-playing schools;

    — Eight football-playing schools with two non-football schools totaling 10 conference members;

    — Nine football playing schools and one non-football playing school for a total of 10 conference members, or

    — Expanding to 12 total conference members.

“The timeframe for our decision will be anywhere between 30 and 90 days.

  69. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 11:29 am

Wyoming has been looking for an athletics director since the summer. They seem to be in good financial shape. I don’t think they would leave the MWC for the WAC.

    http://www.uwyo.edu/news/webclips/showrelease.asp?webclipid=1222

The next athletics director will take over a department that has no debt, has raised more than $20 million over the last three years thanks to private donations and the state of Wyoming, and is undergoing construction and renovations to several facilities.

While those are some of the positives, there are plenty of challenges to the job.

UW is a small blip on the map of major college athletics. The state may be rich in terms of revenue, but it’s small in terms of population at around 500,000. Laramie isn’t exactly a garden spot, and while athletics teams have won here, post-season play is not a regular occurrence for any of its programs.

  70. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 11:33 am

University of New Mexico won’t buy out the football coaches contract despite the awful play of the football team this year mainly because of budget cuts.

    http://www.abqjournal.com/paperboy/text/sports/live/component/content/article/35-college-from-the-newspaper/6100-will-unm-draw-up-buyout-play.html

  71. papajoe2 October 1, 2010 11:35 am

#69sff, Maybe Bensen should apply. Then the WAC can flourish and Wyoming will sink in a few years.

  72. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 11:36 am

I know that people here have mentioned targeting these lower end MWC teams, but they would never bolt for the WAC because of their financial woes. They get more subsides from the bowl and ncaa tournament appearances of the MWC teams which cuts down on their expenses.

  73. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 11:36 am

    #71papajoe2

    haha. here’s hoping!!

  74. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 11:38 am

Actually, SDSU football has been really competitive this year. I believe their record is 3-1. If they do well this year and get to a bowl game, they may be team that pushes the MWC over the top for AQ status. Garrett, is that possible?

I meant that the text of the email was hacked and repetitious.

  83. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:06 pm

    sportsforfun.

NAU only plays 11 games? Less at home than on the road? How do they make money?

  84. Garret October 1, 2010 12:06 pm

Interesting little tidbit that: If Utah State leaves for the MWC and the WAC loses its NCAA autobid for basketball because it doesn’t have enough teams that have played in the same conference for 5 years, then the WAC loses the NCAA basketball money and the schools that earned the NCAA tournament money get to keep their money.

So, instead of UH and the rest of the WAC getting 1/9 of Utah State’s NCAA basketball money, Utah State will get ALL of it. The WAC splits over $3 million per year, which means that UH gets about $340k and this year UH will get nearly $400k because BSU doesn’t get their share…that would go to $0 if Utah State leaves and they get to keep everything they earned.

  85. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:08 pm

    Garret,

But Utah cannot leave till after 2011 right since it’s way too late to declare?

  86. bb October 1, 2010 12:09 pm

Anybody have a crystal ball for tomorrow’s game time weather?

  87. Garret October 1, 2010 12:11 pm

SDSU is actually in pretty good financial shape because their football team is doing a lot better (that drives the revenue, of course) and they have $4 million per year in Athletic fees from their students coming. Their Athletic fee revenue went from $2 million to $6 million about 5 years ago and now will be $10 million…simple way to balance a budget!

Yes, if SDSU stops being a bottom-dweller and ends up being ranked (3-1 with 2 wins over WAC schools was a good start) then the MWC’s computer rankings would go up significantly. They need their bottom teams to improve and SDSU is doing that for them.

I’ll be off the blog until probably Monday so I’d like to post this for tomorrow:

    Go Warriors! Beat La Tech!

  88. Garret October 1, 2010 12:16 pm

    madeinhawaii,

I think it is way too late for Utah State to leave for 2011. Plus, Utah State’s BCS points would hurt the MWC’s AQ chances so I would think they would be invited to join for the 2012 season.

We have mentioned Utah State leaving for the MWC on this blog before, but I don’t think that anyone mentioned how they would end up keeping their NCAA basketball credits (which last for 6 years) if they leave. That is actually a huge financial incentive for them to leave…that could be worth $10 million over the 6 years.

  89. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:19 pm

Las Vegas and San Antonio, Texas are in the bottom ten in terms of residents with college degrees. Washington DC has the most… Riverside CA.. the least.

    http://money.cnn.com/2010/10/01/pf/college/Americas_brainiest_cities/index.htm?hpt=T2

  90. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:21 pm

Utah’s leaving would really hurt the WAC two ways, then. That sucks… No more auto bid to the NCAA for at least 5 years… and no more $300-400K ? egads!

  91. Garret October 1, 2010 12:27 pm

All the MWC has to do to destroy the WAC is to invite Utah State. They already invited Utah State recently and now Utah State publicly says that they will accept if invited again.

For those saying that UH should stay in the WAC, if the WAC loses its NCAA autobid and all NCAA basketball money, there may not be a conference to stay in…so JD has to do what he’s doing to be prepared for that.

  92. WarriorMojo October 1, 2010 12:27 pm

ST: At the Colorado game Winchester-Makainai got into a little scuffle on a PAT/FG and when he came to the sideline I noticed that he was bleeding near one of his eyes. Then, he wasn’t suited up for CSU. Was he gouged in the eye or something?

Also, any reason why Sterling Jackson isn’t being considered for playing time? Obviously, you can’t really tell from warm ups, but the guy looks like he has the physical tools. Does he have a redshirt year?

  93. kev-1 October 1, 2010 12:31 pm

bb #86: just watch any local weather guy (Hagi, Cruz, whoever). What ever they say, the weather will be the opposite.

  94. Garret October 1, 2010 12:31 pm

    WarriorMojo,

It appears that Jackson a redshirt year available.

Jackson said he will have three years to play two UH seasons.

    madeinhawaii

found some numbers about NAU athletics…

    http://content.usatoday.com/_common/_fragments/_modal/ncaa/ncaa-modal-search.htm

Ticket sales: $234,567 (2.3 percent of revenue)

    Student fees: $0

    guarantees: $530,000 (5.2 percent)

direct state or government support: $2,516,538.00 (25 percent)

direct institutional support: $5,401,895.00 (53 percent)

NCAA/conference distributions including all tournament revenues: $523,104.00 (5%)

not sure what the guarantees are. NAU does play some “bodybag” games like the ASU game this year.

  96. NCAA October 1, 2010 12:36 pm

    Mrs. gigi-hawaii,

Pardon me, but why would someone hack the text of an email? Wouldn’t the hacker just hack the email account?

  97. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:46 pm

    sportsforfun:

Wow … NAU makes less than $60K per home game? $0 student fees?

How are they going to pay for that dramatic leap to the next level? They will need to find another 10 mil or so. … just to get the ball rolling..

BUT if they can do what they do with so little.. imagine what they can do with twice the budget?

  98. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 12:46 pm

That is.. as long as they don’t HF it.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs. Hawaii Warriors – The Bulldogs vs. Warriors College Football Point Spread have the Warriors -7.5 at SBGGLOBAL.com. We all know Hawaii can throw the ball (rank 1st averaging 405 yards per game) but we also know they can’t defend, however Louisiana can’t move the ball, their offense is light and is not amount the best on anything, they won’t be able to keep the pace at Hawaii.

OOH . . . I just read that Appalachian St. is looking to move up to FBS too. Man, the WAC needs to get on that. Can you imagine? Four FCS schools in the new WAC? That would be great. The NCAA would be forced to give the WAC an AQ bid with that line up. If Hawaii played that many weak schools every year, imagine the amount of respect that our school would finally get. People would finally start taking us seriously. Benson . . . get App. St too!!

    #83,

NAU probably makes some $ from playing ASU at the beginning of the season. It’s a traditional rivalry game.

    sportsforfun,

I posted that story about Kainoa earlier in the week. He & Ikaika Mahoe started as freshman at NAU. Ikaika (#75 on D) came home after a couple of years.

Tickets are in a holding pattern for Al, (J)J or GMAHoney.

  125. Manoa October 1, 2010 2:04 pm

I think UH athletic teams can florish in the Big West and with all Calilfornia schools, travel costs are as low as they can be for a school in the middle of the Pacific.

The problem is I don’t think we can survive outside of a conference in football– especially given our geographic isolation. Unfortunately the only conference we can join is the WAC and that it is questionable whether that is a real football conference anymore.

So I think we will learn that Boise, Fresno, and Nevada leaving for the MWC was a mortal blow that will lead to the death of our program unless something happens to get us into a decent football conference soon.

I think it’s a little of both…BYU is that bad, and USU is better than we think. Remember, USU played OU tough at OU. It came down to the final minutes in that game. We better not take them lightly, or we’ll get a spanking! Do we play USU here or up in altitude?

  157. Shoko October 1, 2010 3:28 pm

    Pomai,

Funny, I was pondering the same question of whether USU is that good or BYU that bad. I would say both. Aggies came of a rough start, but I think they’re a force to be reckoned with.

  158. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 3:33 pm

The Aggies scored points even in their losses. They will move the ball.. they will score. Our defense will have to keep our Warriors in the game and ahead by a couple of TDs.

  168. Pomai October 1, 2010 4:21 pm

  169. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 4:23 pm

BYU finally puts one into the endzone…. 31-10 Utah up by three TDs

  170. Hank October 1, 2010 4:25 pm

…one or two years of recruiting weakness can easily lead to what BYU is experiencing this year…no matter who’s coaching…

  171. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 4:27 pm

    Hank,

I really feel that if UH can secure the homegrown boys who want to play for the home team and pick up a couple of JCs with three to play two, they can weather this storm. The outstanding job they did recruiting the pat two years has added good depth in all positions for next season and possibly the following…but come next year, we will need to really have a good recruiting season. Hopefully, next year really will be the “payoff” year and an out standing season will go far in getting UH a good number of quality recruits.

  172. Hank October 1, 2010 4:29 pm

…i really hate a three man rush on third down….

  173. Pomai October 1, 2010 4:30 pm

As much as I don’t like them(bywhoo) they have really been hurt by injuries. We need to watch out for the wildcat seem like state likes to run that a lot.

  174. Hank October 1, 2010 4:31 pm

…MIH…i hope you’re right…we’ll see what our new recruiting coordinator can do…

This kid Heap actually looks pretty good, with a year under his belt he should be a lot better than now. Big problem is he has no receivers who can catch the ball.

  183. Kazz (click to support UH softball) October 1, 2010 5:03 pm

We have one of our largest offensive lines in recent memory and we RAN ALL OVER USU’s defensive front last season.

Both Leon Wright-Jackson and Alex Green ran a combined 300+ yards all over the Aggies.

Im not watching this game. I don’t have to. We will win in Logan this season. We should have in 2008, but we shot ourselves in the foot.

  184. Shoko October 1, 2010 5:24 pm

Nice job, Aggies. If they deserved their #4 WAC preseason ranking, they certainly proved it tonight. Their pass defense was impressive.

Now, its time for the Warriors to impress the fans against LA Tech.

  185. madeinhawaii October 1, 2010 5:26 pm

Just shy of 24 hours to kick off!!

    GO WARRIORS!

  186. Steve October 1, 2010 5:39 pm

Is something wrong with the blog, it looks different now.

  187. Steve October 1, 2010 5:40 pm

This is weird, when I bring up the blog the format is one way, then when I enter something it appears another way.

  188. Steve October 1, 2010 5:42 pm

ST, must be the month of October cause you seem to have ghosts in your blog.

  189. Shoko October 1, 2010 5:44 pm

Did anyone vote for the Hawaii Five-0 contest today?

We’ll be bringing individually-packaged snacks – chips/cookies/trail mix or whatever looks good at Costco – to take into the Stadium during the game. We’ll also have some small Ziplock bags for leftovers from the T-Gate itself. Be sure to tuck them into your waistband so they won’t be confiscated by the guard at the inspection point.

We’ll also have plates/cutlery in the car for the Post-Game Party in case The Keeper Of The Paper Goods doesn’t come back to the cabana.

    UH 47

    Puppies 26

See you folks tomorrow. Will be bringing the oysters once again.

  193. expat October 1, 2010 6:30 pm

BYU really picked the wrong year to announce that they were going indy. Probably better to go out on a high note rather than like this. They will certainly not feel any aloha from the rest of the MWC and now they went 0-2 against the current WAC for the season.

This is a team that went 11-2, 10-3, 11-2, 11-2 the past four years. San Diego State is looking pretty good (and they put a whooping on Utah State last week) and then they are looking at TCU away. They could be going into their Wyoming game at 1-6. That would leave them having to win out (with a big win at Utah to end the season) just to be bowl eligible. Ouch.

  194. ballpicker October 1, 2010 6:34 pm

    Wow,

Pomai what a great list of scores. Very impressive. Its great when all get involved.

Let’s play strong, fast, smart and neva give in….ooh small kine pidgeon, sorry mom.

Gotta work tomorrow during the game, but I wanted to ask….is game on the …. ah I better not ask because I might spoil it for others.

    Go Warriors……

  195. ballpicker October 1, 2010 6:38 pm

oops and WIN for goodness sakes.

  196. Slugger October 1, 2010 6:48 pm

    #97,

NAU instituted a student fee to cover a Recreation Center they built it with a weight room, aerobics rooms, basketball courts, classrooms, NAU Outdoors equipment rental room, etc., a couple of decades ago. At that time, they made entrance to all sporting events for students free. Show your ID and you get in. They used a scanning system (swipe) that reads the mag. stripe on the back of the ID card. It’s also a debit card for meals, bookstore, etc. If a faculty/staff member wants to use the Recreation Center, they pay a monthly fee. Same for the Wall Aquatic Center = monthly fee.

Since ticket prices are not very high for NAU sporting events, I got the Community Sports Pass which is now $85 for staff/Faculty & $95 for the community. Lowest ticket prices in the Big Sky. When I didn’t have a sportspass, it was only $8 to get into a football game held indoors in the Skydome. I’m sure the price has gone up just a little since they had to redo the skin of the roof a couple of years ago.

I don’t know if the program runs a deficit or not. But I went to a bunch of games, sometimes right after work when I was there late. It was pretty convenient. Basketball was usually played in the Dome, too. Indoor track & field events were also in the Dome. When it snows on average 110 inches a year, you need an indoor facility.

  197. Slugger October 1, 2010 6:49 pm

    Shoko,

    I voted for UH today!

    BleedGreen808,

Ooooo, oysters… could I have one just warmed & more raw, please. Rob25 won’t be there to squirm. I’ll have to bring Tabasco.

  198. Slugger October 1, 2010 6:50 pm

    BG808,

Mahalo big time for the oysters last weekend & tomorrow!

  199. SteveM October 1, 2010 6:57 pm

    TAILGATE FUUD

I will attempt to list the tailgate potluck contributions for the next two home games. I will list in the Events Calendar entry for the tailgate (click on my name and scroll down to the yellow background section).

Check the potluck list. It will show what is being brought and what areas might be lacking.

No one expects you to bring enough for everyone. (if it runs out, too bad…)

Please post your food item on the blog before midnight tonight. You can always make last minute substitutions tomorrow.

  202. jm2375 October 1, 2010 7:10 pm

just a reminder for the early birds tomorrow – don’t be surprised if there’s a crowd. There’s a Cancer Society walk from Richardson Field to Ford Island that starts at 0800. Parking for the event is in Lower Halawa Lot of the Stadium and they’re supposed to be out of there by 1130.

  203. wafan October 1, 2010 7:36 pm

    Gooooooooooooooo Warriors!!!

  204. sportsforfun October 1, 2010 7:36 pm

Just got done revisiting the http://www.hawaiiathleticsohana.com website. Just a question, how does the sailing team compete against other west coast schools in sailing? Do they ship their boats up, sail up, or do they rent for competition?

  205. Pomai October 1, 2010 7:37 pm

;al that’s not a bad idea.

  206. Pomai October 1, 2010 7:41 pm

Attention all cabana tailgaters if you would like to join the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club I will have some applications with me so bring your check book, levels run from 25, 50, 75, 100, 250, 500 and 1000. We have a lot of cool things planned for the up coming season.

  207. Pomai October 1, 2010 7:43 pm

Watching Aussie football on ESPN, rough game no way any of the nfl players could play the game, they would be so gassed.

  208. wafan October 1, 2010 7:49 pm

One of my friends in college was a rugby player. Always came to class with some new thing broken, sprained, strained, and/or scraped. I asked him the major difference between rugby and Ameican football (he played on the college football team).

“You need leather balls for rugby,” was his reply.

Sure enough. They had leather balls at their games.

  209. wafan October 1, 2010 7:50 pm

    Okay.

    Really now.

    Nytal!

  210. iPhone 4 Cases October 1, 2010 8:02 pm

  211. Annoddah Dave October 1, 2010 8:09 pm

    ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs:

@wafan #208, I think your friend meant the type of players needed for rugby not the equipment used…or did I miss something?

  212. BleedGreen808 October 1, 2010 8:15 pm

    Slugger–

I hope Costco will have some left over tomorrow. But, no worries, will scour the island just for the oysters.

    al–

No can next weekend. Should be in Alaska or Seoul Korea by then. Maybe next time.

  217. SteveM October 1, 2010 9:27 pm

Update on the side belly pork: Deep fried some tonight. It’s a little salty, being 1/3 way to bacon and the garlic is distinctive. Water splatter in the oil was considerable even after blotting. So mom thinks we should rinse off the salt/garlic marinade tonight and blot it tomorrow morning. Should be safer for deep frying, and worse case, can go on the grill.

BTW, it tasted pretty good fried. Mom, the institutional cook, thinks it’s dangerous, but ate the first piece and said it needs rice. 🙂

My Cabana B ETA is around 1300.

    … it’s about time chef al organized a tailgate spread… 👿 😆 🙂

  230. al October 2, 2010 12:49 am

    watched kahuku vs farrington.

both played hard and left nothing on the field.

some of the uh recruit hopefuls proved that they are worthy of a scholie offer. i hope besides the known prospects that shairone thompson is on the short list as well and the farrington dt sagapolu.

we should be talking to that soph runing back wily who sure looks potentially like a future big back in a spread offense.

does kahuku have as many volunteer coaches as they have players?

like the discipline that the red raiders display under torres. also nice to see many former players roaming the sidelines for the big red.

    madeinhawaii:

    October 1st, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Have any of our Hawaii high schoolers verbalized elsewhere, yet?

According to a big birdie, the following three have already committed:

    1) Chester Sua(****) 6-2 205 OLB – Kaimuki (Washington State)

    2) Marcus Mariota(***) 6-4 190 QB – St. Louis (Oregon)

    3) Juda Parker (***) 6-2 245 DE – St. Louis (Tennessee)

The following six blue chip prospects are undecided:

    1) Paulay Asiata(****) 6-5 290 OT – St. Louis (PAC 10, SEC, ACC, Boise State, Notre Dame, Hawaii)

    2) Koa Ka’ai(***) 6-4 250 DE – Kamehameha-Kapalama (PAC 10, Big XII, Hawaii)

    3) Tigi Hill(***) 6-2 210 S – Kahuku

    4) Micah Kalepa(***) 6-5 250 – Pac Five

    5) Mike Moala(***) 6-2 270 – Kaimuki

    6) Starr Sua-Passi(***)5-11 220 – St. Louis

I’m sure there are a few more local Hawaii athletes that will move up to a 3* rating after the football season ends.

  235. Pride. October 2, 2010 4:11 am

According to a very reliable scource, Paulay Asiata from St. Louis is getting tons of nibbles and bites from down south(SEC) and back east(ACC). But I’m sure that it will all depend on the type of season that he has at St. Louis this season.

  236. Pride. October 2, 2010 4:16 am

Scources also say that there is a tug of war going on between the two bay area PAC 10 teams for Koa Kaai’s services. But I’m sure that the two Oregon schools, UCLA, and Washington will jump into the mix when it gets closer to signing day.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but Koa’s dad played at Hawaii about the same time or a little before Don Wier did.

  237. Michigan Warrior October 2, 2010 4:46 am

ST’s article, “Hawaii QB Moniz in sync with receivers”, in today’s paper points out that “The Bulldogs run a no-huddle offense that spits out a play every 22.44 seconds.” I hope we’ve planned for it and will be ready. As long as we can come up with three-and-outs, we can minimize the damage.

We also need a better third down conversion rate than what’s been happening so far this season.

  238. Michigan Warrior October 2, 2010 4:48 am

Gotta watch out for their kick returner too. Let’s go, Monico!

Go, Warriors! Hope to see a great game tonight!

  248. Homegrown October 2, 2010 7:17 am

UH 8 point favorite over LaTech.over and under is 60 1/2 i think the college football world takes our defense lightly.I think our defense plays very well causing opposing teams to constant adjust their offense, over the past few games (if our defense is so bad)Ive seen teams go no huddle, quick snaps, quick passes, misdirections, quarter back keepers, run options.bottom line opposing teams strategy do whatever it takes to get first downs to keep hawaiis offense off the field with that being said i think hawaii at home 14 points would still be a safe bet

Hi, What ever happens to the lottery winners after they run out of money? I am sure that after so many years of living high on the hog, they have horror stories. Any links to any stories would be useful. What about the people who take annuities. I am sure when the 18th or 19th year comes around, they start worrying because they only have a couple more years of money. Are there any lawsuits against the lottery commision for really stupid reasons like them not being able to take care of themselves after the money is gone?

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

I would say good idea, but be careful "advertising." For this one, you want someone a friend can recommend or someone you already know. Try your friends first, then their friends, and then a full out advertisement!

  524. Jinny Reddrick October 28, 2010 12:59 pm

I had been in the beginning treated by using Intense pulsed light that is not the best method to get laser hair removal. I began with complete leg hair removal. I visited a good MD that applied a great older laserlight unit but ended up with having spotty parts. Then I chose to purchase a tria laser hair removal system. I am pleased and will be beginning different regions of my body soon. The costs even fit my spending budget which is really a tremendous benefit.

  525. Myriam Budine October 28, 2010 2:57 pm

I switched techs given that after a few years of laser, I thought the benefits weren’t worth the cost. Then I got the silk’n sensepil. They guarantee that after 2 yrs in the case hair grows back, the treatments will be absolutely free. They have both lazer as well as Intense pulsed light, but I am going to stick with fractionated laser now as Intense pulsed light did not appear to decrease the amount of hair coming back.

I was performing silk’n treatments for at least a year at present on my beard. Before this I had a thick dark beard. I’m happy with the results. The hairs are extremely thin and I haven’t gone back for treatment for around 6 months. I’ll say that it did hurt just a little on my upper lip and there ended up being instances when I had some inflammation on my chin. I would recommend Intense pulsed light to those with thick hairs or have major sections of hair they really want to eliminate. For the males who might like to do their rough facial beard be prepard for patches within the coming months and many people saying dude what is wrong with your facial hair.
