Kalua Noa says he is joining UH; Hirono on charter

“Yes, I’m 100 percent sure I’m joining the Warriors,” Kalua Noa said today.

Noa, who was a standout receiver at Kaiser High, will gray shirt, meaning he will join the Warriors in January 2009.

He is 6 feet 2 and 200 pounds. At the Maui Camp, he ran 40 yards in 4.45 seconds.

kalua-noa.jpg

Noa was headed to Portland State before receiving a scholarship offer from UH.

“It’s a better (situation) for my family,” Noa said. “It’s good to gray shirt so I can develop, study more, learn the program, get my school stuff straight.”

A gray shirt may take up to nine credits in a semester without his eligibility clock starting.

The entire Sugar Bowl travel list has been released, including the seating chart on the charters. Not very many interesting names. OK, there’s one: Mazie Hirono. She is on the “list of people who paid to fly on the charter.” But our request did not ask for the dates when the people paid, and the answers are not provided.

  3. djmitcho June 6, 2008 5:48 am

I must still be on Mainland time cause I’ve been up since 4am. It’s nice to see the sun coming up over Lana’i Hale

  4. djmitcho June 6, 2008 5:50 am

    Oh yeah,,,Good Morning to Tsaikoland!

  5. djmitcho June 6, 2008 5:51 am

    wafan,
I’ll try to bring summer back with me. You’ll have to wait til wednesday though.

  6. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:00 am

I noticed the football mags are out in my trip to Barnes and Nobles yesterday. I’m going alphabetical so I only looked at Atlhons yesterday. Hawaii is ranked # 77 while Florida is ranked # 1. Adam Leonard is a third team All-American while Estes and Ah Soon are First Team All-Wac. Steinhoff is 2nd team All-Wac.

  7. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 6:01 am

Rounds 7 to 9 done. Nobody yet.

  8. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:05 am

Oops, spelling was wrong, I’m sure dshima would catch it but ….

    Athlon’s preseason Top 25 countdown

Hawaii is picked fourth in the WAC. Fresno is #1, Boise State is #2 and Nevada is #3.

  9. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:05 am

😀 Aloha Stacy K – let’s get this show started! Come-on local guys! Ahhh, 41 more rounds to go….. What do you think of Shane Victorino and Kurt Suzuki? Today is Kurt Suzuki bobblehead night in Oakland…. hope he has a big game for the A’s! I see the A’s drafted a defensive catcher from ASU in rnd 3 … insurance or competition for Kurt? 🙄

  10. Loa June 6, 2008 6:07 am

    morning gang!

    Happy Belated Birthday to BG!

i hope we get some local boys drafted today.

Stretch – what about “getting bashed”?

NYUH – i would think that GA would be #1

have a safe and happy aloha friday! 🙂

  11. Merv June 6, 2008 6:08 am

    Good morning, Hawai’i!

UH should be ranked higher and UF not as high. Their defense is poor against the pass.

By the way, team Kauai beat team Maui in football at our bible school last night in Georgia. I coached Kauai and my friend who will be QB at Davidson College coached the Maui team. Team K won 14 to 0 with great defense and a good kicking game.

And ST, I am partial to Atomic Dog as well, Bow Wow Wow, yippee yo yippee yay!

  12. marlis June 6, 2008 6:13 am

    Stacy Kaneshiro,

Quick question: I’ve seen your name somewhere else other than in the sport’s pages. Maybe off track here, but did you at one time do political investigative type articles for HA-and if I’m on the right track here your political type writings I thought would have been your bread and butter because they were pretty good. Or am I thinking of somebody else with maybe a similar name?

  13. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:14 am

Why can’t we have a repeat of the 1999 season when we went on to become WAC co-champ?

If JJ did it, why can’t Mack?

  14. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:15 am

Loa: That is what I was thinking but Georgia was #5.

  15. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 6:16 am

    Warriors,

    85 days to go

  16. MeiLing June 6, 2008 6:17 am

    Mornin’, mornin’ mornin’

I’m at work, so no can “talk story” too much. Have a great day in Hawai’ Nei!

  17. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:17 am

Oh, Solomon Elimimian was also First team WAC.

  18. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 6:18 am

Congratulations to Mililani High’s Dustin Antolin. He was picked in the 11th round (339th overall) by the Toronto Blue Jays. He was drafted as a pitcher.

  19. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:18 am

NYUH – I guess no one else has been to Barnes & Noble or any other bookstoe to see if Atlhons was a new football magazine or not. Ha! Thanks for the updates. I think UH will be flying under the radar until they surprise some peeps after Gainsville and Corvallis…

Really – I don’t understand why the “big 3” (Adam Leonard, Sol Elimimian, and Mr. Ryan Moutan) don’t get their (any?) due respect! I hope that helps motivate them towards having monster years!
    😯 🙄 DEFENSE!!! 😀 😆

  20. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:18 am

I brought up 1999 because UH was the underdog back then, too.

  21. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:19 am

Malcolm Lane got 2nd team special teams player. Fresno State was ranked #25.

  22. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:20 am

Yay Mililani! Congrats to the new pitcher.

  23. NYUH June 6, 2008 6:22 am

brew808: Yeah, no mention of Mouton, oh, Veikune was mentioned as well.

  24. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 6:23 am

coaches keepiin an eye on da 2 koreans, koheeshon an kemistree? inteegral
paht ah da it faktah. 😆

  25. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:27 am

Hey StacyK – How does this MLB draft work? Is it just one big conference phone call? Mahalos!

And congratulations to Dustin Antolin and his family. Do you think this will be high enough for Antolin to sign and not attend UH?

  26. Ronnie June 6, 2008 6:28 am

    Good Morning Tsaiko Family!

And a special shout out to Merv! Congratulations on your team winning the Pineapple trophy/bowl/cup/game ( 🙂 ) !

Wow, by this time next week, I’ll be home (unless we give up our seats for guaranteed round trip tickets to be used later 😉 )! Yee Haw!

  27. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:29 am

NYUH – How about Dan “Iceman” Kelly?

  28. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:32 am

    😆 😯 😀 ~•~•~ Yeehaw!! Hiya Ronnie! ~•~•~ 😀 🙄 8)

  29. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 6:37 am

Toronto must love Hawaii guys. UH’s Matt Daly was taken in the 13th round by the Blue Jays (399th overall).

  30. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:40 am

I visited Toronto during the winter. Hope these Hawaii players like the cold!

  31. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 6:42 am

    Great Morning All.

    NYUH,
Nah. You get ’em wit da alphabets already.

    djmitcho,
    Welcome home.

    Loa,
Howzit brah. Try watch if homey going change his daughter’s dental appointment, maybe we can join him up in Manoa this afternoon.

    merv,
    Thanks for spreading da Aloha!
    btw, heard from Buckhead Bulldog?

    Stacy,
Yah, seems like Blue Jays might favor 808 guys going back to when they drafted BL.

  32. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 6:43 am

Dustin Antolin is not signed to play for UH; he signed with Central Ariz. JC.
Whether he signs or goes to the JC is pretty negligible since he’s eligible to be drafted again next year after one season with the JC. It depends if he feels he’s ready to be with the adults now.

I’m sure Matt Daly is going to sign.

  33. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:43 am

Baseball is a Summer sport… and Toronto plays inside a domed (sliding roof) stadium….

  34. MeiLing June 6, 2008 6:46 am

    Garret,

When I have some time, I’ll post some info on going by train with keeds. Used the train when my son was a toddler & it was great to keep him occupied. No running up & down the aisles of a plane…. Good idea!

Yay, Celtics…Bill Russell was an alum of my alma mater…

  35. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 6:46 am

    Tsaikos,
Warrior Beat lookin like a top 25 national program, all da bells an whistles wit choke pikchas, ahsum big magnets. Good job ST.

  36. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 6:47 am

    Congrats to Dustin Antolin.

His fan, koakane, going be happy wen he finally gets around to waking up today.

    Congrats to Matt Daly, too.

    Stacy,
Remember the HUGE Breaking News item wen Jon Hee gets drafted. No keep midori7 in any more suspense than necessary.

  37. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:47 am

    Mahalo StacyK!

Congratulations to Matt Daly! I have mixed feelings cheering for UH Jrs. of the draft…. but nah, it’s good for the guys and overall, good for the Team. 😀

  38. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:48 am

Brew, that is good to know.

  39. Ronnie June 6, 2008 6:48 am

    Hi Brew!

Are you going to the Fresno St AND/or Boise St games?

  40. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 6:49 am

    brew,

I’m sure neither of those reasons would prevent gigi from NOT going to games there either.

  41. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 6:50 am

    hiho….

  42. brew808 June 6, 2008 6:51 am

    MeiLing

Are you now talking about USF? BTW – Kurt Suzuki bobble-head doll day at the Colliseum today, vs. halo’s! 😀

  43. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 6:52 am

Ha! I don’t have the patience to watch a baseball game. It lasts too long.

When we were thinking of visiting NYC again, hubby insisted we see a game at Yankee Stadium. I told him he could go alone.

  44. Loa June 6, 2008 6:58 am

NYUH – i guess more incentive for GA eh

    d1 – maybe

    congrats to Dustin & Matt!

  45. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:01 am

    Hiya Ronnie! – 😀

😆 😯 😀 ~•~•~ The “count” is now at least FIVE (5) – the number of times you’ve asked about me going to Fresno to watch the Warriors stomp some grapes/raisins! Please keep me informed about your travel plans w/ rob25. Corvallis game too! Maybe NMSU. I’ll probably pass (better than Teebone!) on the roadtrip to Gainsville. Yeehaw!! ~•~•~ 😀 🙄 8)

BTW – I think Kekoa was asking about where you’d go for your manapua when you got home. I’ll guess that your great Dad will likely pick-up a box from Char Hung Sut prior to picking you up from HNL. Right? 😆

  46. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 7:04 am

End of 15th round. Draft is on about a 10 to 15-minute break.

  47. Loa June 6, 2008 7:07 am

brew/ronnie – have you tried Aiea Manapua? someone brought for snacks one day and was pretty good, they had different kinds too, ie. pizza, hot dog

  48. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 7:07 am

    sjmacro,

  49. Loa June 6, 2008 7:08 am

fyi, just heard that Tyler going be on 1420 this morning

  50. Ronnie June 6, 2008 7:11 am

    Brew, 😀 !

So far there are around 8 of us going. I think Rich may be going as well. I’m going to see if any other LoCal Tsaikos are going. I’ll include you in the emails I start sending.

I’m not going to the Florida game or OSU game. I figure those will be great and there will be lots of Warrior fans there, but I want to be a part of our WAC Championship repeat and the first win AT Boise.

  51. Ronnie June 6, 2008 7:13 am

Oh, about the Manapua. I hope my parents make the trip to town (so I don’t have to 😉 ), but if they don’t, I’ll make sure I go before I leave. I have my trip plans broken into two categories: places I want to visit and places I want to eat!

  52. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 7:13 am

Just talked to Matt Daly. He said he’s going to sign.
And just as I write this, Maui boy Derrick Saito, a left-handed pitcher at Cal Poly, was picked in the 16th round by the Kansas City Royals. Saito is a 2005 Baldwin grad. He’s a hard thrower.

  53. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:14 am

jm2375- Your hubby may be playing with my grandson and his mom. My youngest son was into it for awhile but got distracted by music and school 😆

    ALOHA KAKAHIAKA!
Tonight is opening night for Man of La Mancha in case anyone was thinking of attending. 7 pm at Kauai Community College. I still can get you tickets – save $3 if bought in advance 😉

    Congrats, Matt Daly!

Our local PONY team is the Waimea Blue Jays, btw… Ukuboi played for them from shetland through pony.

CONGRATS, Merv and the Kauai Team! Pineapples are US!!!

Thanks, Merv, for the heads up on the Gators. That is good news. Here’s to a big surprise in the Swamp on August 30!!!

    brew808- I’ll be in Corvallis, and bhf2 also, God-willing.

  54. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:14 am

Ronnie – what are the dates you will be here??

  55. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 7:17 am

Liz, best wishes for a great La Mancha opening! Hit those high notes. Bring down the house.

  56. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 7:17 am

Kamehameha-HI’s Kolten Wong was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 16th round. He was picked as a second baseman.

He’s a very versatile, as he can play second, center field or catch. He is a UH recruit, so this will be interesting to follow.

His father is Kaha Wong, who played at UH-Hilo after transferring from USC, where he played with Mark McGwire, et al.

  57. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:17 am

    Loa – Re: Aiea Manapua

No – but I’m more than happy to try! 😀 I think Kekoa was talking of Chun Wah Kam. My brother loves that place. It’s good – and I like the kalua pig manapua. Also, one of their plate lunches can feed a family of four – or maybe just an appetizer for the average Tsaiko! …FUUD!!! 😆 😀

Hey – just hear Kolten Wong got drafted… Yeah for Kolen & 808! 😀

  58. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:20 am

Guess you not one gamer Stretch – WoW is World of Warcraft. The hubby is addicted and drags me in every so often. I went willingly first time, not so much now. Usually end up spending most of the evening playing.

I understand that WoW is easier to write than “Warcraft” but either way, it appears you enjoy your evenings with your hubby. 😉

  59. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 7:21 am

The 16th round must be Hawaii’s jackpot.
Troy Hanzawa, Mid-Pacific alum and former Rainbow, of San Diego State was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies. He’s a shorstop.

  60. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:22 am

    Aloha Stretch

You know I was just kidding from the last blog…. 😳 😀

  61. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:24 am

    Stacy K

Did Hanzawa’s transfer to SDSU cost the Bows any APR points? Just wondering….

  62. Ronnie June 6, 2008 7:24 am

    Hi Stretch!

We arrive on the night of the 12th and leave the night of the 23rd.

  63. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:25 am

brew808 – sorry, missed that one. it’s “hard” work once in a while.

  64. Ronnie June 6, 2008 7:25 am

Congratulations to all of our Hawai’i boys who are being drafted!

  65. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:26 am

Stacy- can you get back to the top blog area?
It would be good to start adding the picks up top as they get chosen.
If not, would you please bold the names of the draftees?

    Mahalo and HI HO!

  66. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:26 am

ronnie – wow, you should be able to do everything in that amount of time.

  67. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 7:27 am

Aw, Ronnie, you will be missing the July 10 blog bash at the SSC. Any chance you can stay for it?

  68. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 7:28 am

    Yeah Kolten Wong,

Dat kid is real fast. I asked a coupla kids from Kam-Hi who wuz da best athlete and they named him. Really fast, lots of moves, short.

  69. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:29 am

  72. MeiLing June 6, 2008 7:36 am

    brew808,

    Yup, USF

  73. Merv June 6, 2008 7:41 am

I haven’t heard from Buckhead Bulldog in about a month. We talked after the spring game. We are all excited about our prospects for the coming season here in Georgia.

I’m glad Florida is ranked #1 with a big target on their backs and they will be full of themselves by August. Let them get over confident and have the Warriors pass all over them in the Swamp.

I like UGA at #5. It is a great place to start from but not too high. You have incentive to work harder and stay focussed.

By the way it is 92 in Waynesboro right now. We got up to 99 yesterday.

  74. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:42 am

    Hi J

How often do you travel “home”?

Some slow evening, we should have a discussion of the new baggage tax and how that impacts kamaiana’s from transporting goodies and care packages to/from 808. 😀

  75. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 7:43 am

Hawaii Pacific left-handed pitcher Kaimi Mead was picked in the 18th round by the Cleveland Indians. He is a Roosevelt alumnus and former Rainbow.

I don’t know how to bold the names or put this at the top. No one else is here this early.

  76. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:46 am

Stacy- just use these tags around the words you want bolded. Substitute the parentheses with (b)bold words (/b)

  77. MeiLing June 6, 2008 7:48 am

    brew808,

Won’t be able to get to the Bay Area till July. A’s aren’t playing at home, but I’m planning on catching a Giants game. The A’s games aren’t broadcast here…whatever’s on ESPN & D-Backs on Fox. I don’t like the idea of the A’s moving down to Fremont, but I won’t be here to care much by the time they do…

  78. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:49 am

    dang.
Substitute the parentheses with (b)bold words (/b)

  79. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 7:49 am

actually you have to use the greater than and lesser than symbols — not parentheses.

  80. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:50 am

    double dang.

  81. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:50 am

    Stacy – wake up ST!!!

  82. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:50 am

Substitute the parentheses with uppercase , and uppercase .

  83. brew808 June 6, 2008 7:51 am

    Stacy K

To highlight (bold) words, use the brackets (less than, greater than) symbols – so let’s say we want … Stacy Kaneshiro. That would look like:

(less than)b(greater than) Stacy Kaneshiro (less than)/b(greater than)

    Try that!

BTW – when you write about the MLB draft, could you please enclose a list of UH and 808 players, and a list of WAC/UH opponents players. Mahalo! Also, when you got the keys from ST to drive the blog, you should have also asked for gas money! 😆 🙄 😀

  84. LizKauai June 6, 2008 7:51 am

Thanks, gigi! They would not show up on the page…

  85. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 7:53 am

haha I think Stacy K is probably thinking it is more work than it is worth!

  86. bighilofan2 June 6, 2008 7:55 am

    Merv,
thanks for the weather update from Georgia. 99, weeeuuu.

Another excellent choice as a co-pilot would be Princess Leila!!! But, I don’t think she likes us anymore…. 🙁 🙁 boo hoo… 🙁

  88. Stretch June 6, 2008 7:57 am

Stacy – bold or not, on top or not, thanks for keeping us up to date on the baseball draft. Yesterday was slow for the Hawaii guys but I think today should be a lot more interesting. BTW – you are spoiling us with the early new blogs. You are making ST look bad but that’s okay.

    brew808,

Haven’t gone home this year…the UK/Europe trip last month changed some of my travel plans. Last year I made it home often enough (along with some inter-island trips) to qualify for Pualani Gold status on Hawaiian. I can check 3 bags every time without penalty until the end of this year.

AL: Mahalo for your Post 430 at 11:47 pm in yesterday’s blog to my Post 427 at 11:41 pm which I did not see until this morning. That is why I am only now getting around to thanking you per your comment in your Post 445 at 12:12 am. By then, I was in bed.

The referral itself was both interesting & informative. Based on it, I’ve decided to not take part in the WIKI. I’m now in my 23rd month of trying to peel myself away from the Internet culture by re-connecting to people in the real world.

We got our first desktop computer in 1984 and by 1990 were regulars on Compuserv. We registered our first two domain names in 1994 (I think).

By the mid-1990s, the Internet began to take over my life, but I never realized to what extent. After logging my time for a month in the summerf 2006, I found that I was spending more than 100 hours a week at work in the legislative off-season of which about 75 hours were at the computer. I was also attending on average about 20 community meetings every week as well. What with commuting, sleeping four hours a night – if that – and basic household chores, that left maybe 15 hours a week to take care of personal business including reading, eating, personal hygiene, watching tv & staying in touch with family & friends. What had gone bye-bye over a several-year period were UH sports, thearical stuff, singing in choral groups, and volunteering with animal care groups.

Since that Labor Day 2006 epiphany, I’ve reduced my time at the computer to about four hours a day, dropped the number of meetings to 12 on average, and am trying to reclaim what is left of my life.

Of course, a lot of the change came after last summer’s accident.

It is still difficult to make contact with people on a 1-2-1 basis. Most people prefer to get together either in large – and often noisy – groups where it is almost impossible to carry on a conversation without shouting, not to mention spending a fair amount of money.

Traffic should be lighter by now so it’s time to get to work. Hope everyone has a great Aloha Friday. And yes, Liz, you won’t be alone in bringng gifts of food.

Good luck to Hawai`i’s Boys of Summer.

    Morning Tsaikos!

Stacy Kaneshiro is on AM 1500 now.

He just announced that Jon Hee was picked in the 21st round by the Boston Red Sox!

Congrats to all the Hawaii boys that have gotten picked so far!

  97. Jason June 6, 2008 8:12 am

Midori, the drink, is sweet and spunky. So, too, is Midori7, our blogger. Here’s a picture of LizKauai, Midori and 808UHfan:

My love of sports is not only for UH. My favorite pro teams are the Lakers, 49ers & Dodgers. I also cheer for the Redskins (yes, even before Colt) & the Cubs. Got to see the Baseball Hall of Fame (Cooperstown, New York), Football Hall of Fame (Canton, Ohio) & even the cornfield in Dyersville, Iowa, where the movie Field of Dreams was filmed….

And now Midori is a HUGE Boston Red Sox Fan!!!

*yawn* Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!

    Midori-

Boston’s so far away. Are you going to fly over for any games? 😉

I think I’m losing my voice. Going to have to make up for it by typing more and talking less. Ayah!

  113. midori7 June 6, 2008 8:35 am

    But now…Go Red Sox! 😀

Send a list of tempting Kauai fuuds to Ronnie and you might be able to convince her too…. I hear that Liz K is a celebrated FUUD expert there, …. and everywhere! 😆 😯 😀

  120. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 8:55 am

Seems like there’s a break after the 25th round.

Anyway, Tsai is putting up the pics. I didn’t even know until he called. I’m following the tracker and other Web sites; have two computers up.

I think as far as the UH high school recruits from the Mainland, being that they haven’t been picked yet, they are likely to attend school even if they get picked later today. Of course, these are 17-18 years olds, so anything could happen.

  121. brew808 June 6, 2008 8:57 am

“Onipa’a” to former ‘Bows John Hee, Brandon Haislet, and Matt Daly (although I was waiting for this guy’s senior year 🙁 )

Oh and a bit of an update regarding..

    2008 Warrior Football Season Tickets

Just today I received a call from the UH ticket office in response to adding on more seats to my season tickets from last season.

Unfortunately my group of 10 is seperated: 5 seats in the North end zone Orange Level, row 23 seats 11-15 and the new 5 in row 26 seats 9-13.

    Oh well better than nothing….

So now I assume they are getting to the end of the current season ticket holder list and they will be starting the new season ticket requests probably sometime next neek.

They will call back in the order of who placed their deposits first.

  132. Kekoa June 6, 2008 9:37 am

Mahalo Liz for the comforting words…now get out there and break a leg!

  133. brew808 June 6, 2008 9:37 am

    Kazz

That’s not too bad. Those two groups of seats are pretty close! I bet you can talk to the Warriors fans and see if they’ll swap seats with you – at least for some of the games. The Row 26 peeps should be willing to move closer to Row 23, unless they’re there with their friends already. Real Warrior Fans would do that for their fellow bruddahs (and sista’s)!!! 😀

  134. Kekoa June 6, 2008 9:41 am

Kazz ~ You are a man with tremendous power and great influence. Offer the fans exclusive rights to all of our T-gate leffovahs in exchange for the seats!

  135. Kazz June 6, 2008 9:48 am

    RE: seats.

Nah should be ok. depending on the game there could be spots of empty seats next to us or behind us so they could move on down.

Unless it’s a 40K+-type game, most people do not sit in their assigned seats anyway.

  136. Kekoa June 6, 2008 9:49 am

Mr. Kaneshiro ~ Just wondering if you might be able to give me an update on my nephew *Micah Furtado* who has been in the Texas Rangers farm system for a few years now. Last I heard he was in Fresno (yikes!) CA.

  137. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 9:54 am

  139. Kekoa June 6, 2008 9:55 am

  140. Addahknowsports June 6, 2008 9:55 am

    thanks, Brew!

  141. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 10:03 am

Aiea High’s Randy Castillo, a right-handed pitcher, was picked in the 31st round by the Seattle Mariners.

  142. Ronnie June 6, 2008 10:09 am

    Hi Kekoa.

Do you have Pauoa Boy’s email address? I can add him to my Lo Cal Tsaiko email list.I agree with you about safety. So far it is Rob, Julia, Gabby, myself and my boys (and maybe a friend or two). I think Rich is going and maybe some other LoCal Tsaikos and brew. I’m going to see if we can get seats together in the Hawai’i section.

    Feature article on Jerry Glanville.

Jerry Glanville is not a football wonk. He is not Vince Lombardi. He is not that coach who is going to stand beside a chalkboard and diagram every single nuance of each particular play.

Instead, Glanville is the excitable head football coach, the one who strives to encourage, motivate and instill a sense of confidence in his players with his hands-on approach.

Glanville says that a coach exuding his or her passion is all part of teaching the game to the players, ultimately helping them learn.

“They’ll know what it means to you based on what you demand from them,” Glanville said of the players’ ability to recognize the coach’s passion. “It has to permeate throughout the squad.”

Article about a QB that Colt will be battling for the #3 spot at Washington. My money is on Colt for that battle–not only is Colt a special talent, but his QB-expert head coach personally led the effort to draft him.

Hollenbach, who didn’t become a starter until his redshirt junior season at Maryland, knows all about waiting. He didn’t make it to training camp with Washington last summer, getting cut July 17. However, he was re-signed in December after Jason Campbell was hurt. He’ll battle sixth-rounder Colt Brennan and street free agent Derek Devine for the No. 3 spot behind Campbell and Todd Collins this season.

“Jason and I worked together a lot in practice at Maryland,” said Hollenbach. “I really liked his hands and his work ethic right away. He’s a great aathlete. Watching practice out here, I’m not sure if it’s [second-round pick] Fred Davis or Jason in there.”

  177. jm2375 June 6, 2008 11:38 am

    Where did everybody go?

Gotta agree on Baldwins – lichee yum yum. Close second to Matsumoto’s.

    Happy Birthday juju!!

Congrats to all the Hawaii boys who got drafted, esp the former Na Pueos. Way to represent!

OK back to work and lurking.

  178. jm2375 June 6, 2008 11:40 am

OK when I posted just now, last post was #152 and I refreshed it several times. So how come when I post get 25 more?

Two writers for the Sporting News wrote their preseason top 25 lists and made fun of each other’s lists. Both have Georgia at #1 (I agree), Florida is at #4 (from the guy who graduated from Florida) and #9.

Matt Hayes has Fresno State at #25 and Spencer Hall has *SMU* at #25. But we have to remember that Spencer Hall is the Florida alum who wrote this:

    9. Florida. I have Florida six spots higher. Matt clearly ignores the fact Urban Meyer is busy secretly filming pass-route practice drills all over the SEC just like BFF Bill Belichick would.

Spencer Hall had Florida at #4. I don’t know if that reflects well on a Florida education that he thinks that 9 is 6 more than 4. I don’t know if that is worse or if actually ranking SMU is worse.

  181. Stacy Kaneshiro June 6, 2008 11:44 am

It’s the 40th round and no one has gone from Hawaii since Randy Castillo.

  182. homey ® June 6, 2008 11:44 am

Matsumoto’s is overrated. They don’t give enough syrup and you are left with bland flavored ice on the bottom.

Best bang for the buck is the one in Waikele by the Sports Authority. Heaping mounds of mochi, plenty syrup, and large size is huge.

  183. Stretch June 6, 2008 11:45 am

  185. Garret June 6, 2008 11:46 am

This parody site had an article about JJ.

Compiling a sterling 75-41 record at Hawaii, Jones thrust a team that went winless the season prior to his arrival into the national spotlight. Five All-Americans, a plethora of winning seasons and several bowl appearances later, Jones’ long-running feud with university decision-makers over budget concerns finally imploded, resulting in the former NFL coach inking his new deal in Dallas.

“I mean, how am I supposed to get my morning belly-boarding in?” an somewhat panicked Jones asked. “I suppose I could beat the rush to the student recreation center early in the morning, but then I might have to share some small-ass pool with an overweight Texas heifer. God, I miss those cute Hawaiian hula dancers… What have I done?!

ST – hopefully most of those who are MIA are lurking and know about the party at SSC on July 10 then they can show face again.

  198. A-House June 6, 2008 12:23 pm

Someone from UH was quoted in both morning papers several days ago, the UH was
rushed into putting together a “travel party list” because the Sugar Bowl committee wanted it and there would be “official social functions” requiring UH representation.

OK, I can see that, BUT 1) what function(s) were held in NOLA that required children to attend?; 2) I did not hear of any “official” functions for UH and Georgia in NOLA (of course, I was just a fan so why would anyone tell us); 3) did UH contact Bosie St for info on travel party?; 4) can someone illucidate us on who attended any special official functions and why?

I can see Pres McClain or Chancellor Hinshaw or Fumbler representing UH at official functions.

    Gigi:

    Make new friends,
    but keep the old.
    One is silver,
    the other is gold.

    A circle is round,
    it has no end.
    That’s how long,
    I will be your friend.

    A fire burns bright,
    it warms the heart.
    We’ve been friends,
    from the very start.

    You have one hand,
    I have the other.
    Put them together,
    We have each other.

    Silver is precious,
    Gold is too.
    I am precious,
    and so are you.

    You help me,
    and I’ll help you
    and together
    we will see it through.

    The sky is blue
    The Earth is green
    I can help
    to keep it clean

    Across the land
    Across the sea
    Friends forever
    We will always be

    Can someone photoshop them in?

    Happy B-day BG and Juju!

  286. al June 6, 2008 2:01 pm

    midori7

my guess is that daly and haislett goes.

hernandez should return and get his degree. a 50th rounder might get a plane ticket, a couple hundred bucks and assistance finding a roomate(teammate in this case). the pay is peanuts and he would need to find a pt job to make ends meet.

  287. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 2:02 pm

sheesh, hit and run, eh, James?

We always buy a Simmons. Isn’t that the best brand? Better than Serta, that’s for sure.

    hey, that’s right, it’s juju’s b-day.

  290. whitey June 6, 2008 2:19 pm

Stacey, thank you for your coverage of the MLB draft. 50 rounds????

  291. Barry Markowitz June 6, 2008 2:22 pm

I am a big Stacy Kaneshiro fan. SK, I thought that Jeter Ishida of Punahou might get drafted…is he another class that was not eligible?

  292. whitey June 6, 2008 2:22 pm

Stacy, sorry about misspelling your name.

  293. midori7 June 6, 2008 2:29 pm

    al:

Stacy had reported earlier that Matt Daly was going to sign. Would have been interesting to see how he would do in his senior season, but oh well.

Brandon Haislet used up his eligibility so he wouldn’t be back anyway.

    I agree w/you about Landon.

  294. whitey June 6, 2008 2:31 pm

Somewhere on this site, someone said that only 5% from the MLB draft will ever play one game in the majors. If that is true, why does MLB have a 50 round draft. Wouldn’t these players have a better chance in life if they went to college and played college ball? They would get an education and participate in the sport they love. Plus some of the college scholarships are worth more than the signing bonus and monthly pay combined. The sad part is that if a youngster signs a pro contract, he becomes ineligible for college ball. Many of these talented youngsters would probably have a better chance at the pros by going to school, maturing, and playing college ball.

  295. LizKauai [Believer] June 6, 2008 2:48 pm

gigi- when you take a break from the laundry, check out Greg as the Man from La Mancha on my blog 😉

  296. MeiLing June 6, 2008 2:48 pm

There’s an East Indian doc who started the Laughter Club. This IS a Laughter Club. eh, tanks!!!

  297. bonar June 6, 2008 2:49 pm

It makes no sense to me . . . especially since it seems teams are finding more and more legitimate prospects in other countries, especially in Asia.

  298. Kazz June 6, 2008 2:58 pm

    Agreed Mr. Hernandez should stay.

BTW, I’ve been away. Any word on Jared Alexander?

  299. J June 6, 2008 3:12 pm

Not everyone signs, many accept a college scholarship and play at that level. For some who are planning on walking on at a college, getting drafted might give them a boost. Money for college tuition is usually included in a contract, though by the time the player quits professional ball, he has other financial obligations.

The draft used to go on until every team passed on their turn. Now that’s an endurance test. The 50-round limit wasn’t introduced until 1998.

  300. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 3:15 pm

Wow, Liz, Greg has white hair now??? How time flies.

The costumes look realistic for the time. But I don’t see you in the photos.

The tickets are a bargain at $15 at the door and $12 in advance.

  301. KaneoheFan June 6, 2008 3:17 pm

    LizKauai –
Your list cracked me up… thanks for sharing the laugh!

  302. SteveM June 6, 2008 3:20 pm

Hi everyone… errr, what day is this?
Fever broke this morning but I’ve been asleep and weak as a kitten.

Thanks for the “get-Well” wishes, Addahknowsports and Brew808. I read them this morning but was too weak to type.

MEDICAL STUFF: (skip if not interested)

Anyone else had or heard of this bug? High fever and body ache. Started Monday and gets progressively worse even if you feel better in the morning… like 101+ fever at night at 99.2 in the morning…then shoots for a new high at night.

Aside from the weakness and body aches — there are NO other symptoms– no sore throat, no cough, no sinus problem, no diahhrea or tummy problems, etc…

If you get it, go to a doctor because it probable won’t go away soon. I almost went to emergency, thinking this might be a symptom for another internal problem.

Looks like I’ll be staying home this weekend so as not to spread germs.

  303. stacyj June 6, 2008 3:22 pm

Gigi, laundry day again? Hah, everyday is laundry day when you got 4 kids.

  304. stacyj June 6, 2008 3:22 pm

Liz, that list was too funny. And, I lurk your blog all the time…great stuff. I feel like I know you already.

  305. Da Punchbowl Kid June 6, 2008 3:24 pm

Stacy, I can imagine your water and electric bill. outta sight!

Got my HECO bill recently. It is $275.

Consumption is the same or less than last year but their rates have shot thru the roof.

    Blame the PUC.

  307. LizKauai [Believer] June 6, 2008 3:25 pm

gigi- Greg does have white hair but still acts very young- and has a beautiful voice. I am background material – way off downstage left – but in clear sight for those who are checking for breaks in character (not here!).
The show will be fun! My #2 son is coming tonight – the rest of my gang are coming tomorrow night, I think.

KaneoheFan- that lst was sent to me by an old buddy who used to work for another daily paper but who has since moved to AZ.
I know some people use the blog for humor therapy in times of stress and sadness and that group of witticisms seemed to be just what the doctor ordered!

  310. Pauoa Boy June 6, 2008 3:29 pm

SteveM, Did I hear Dengue Fever?

  312. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 3:29 pm

    SteveM,

I hope you recover from the flu.

It took me 4 weeks to get over my 101.3 fever, cough, and sinus congestion last month. Doc gave me an antibiotic and cough meds which helped but did not cure me.

I guess it just takes time.

  313. Stretch June 6, 2008 3:35 pm

It was nice to pay $3 to sit and chat with SJ and Jerry while waiting for the practice to start. Bad thing is that the team practiced in the morning. Oh well….

New schedule that ST can confirm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday – 2pm.

  314. LizKauai [Believer] June 6, 2008 3:35 pm

gigi- I got a good lesson in budgeting from my photovoltaic guy yesterday.
    1. go to a solar water heater first.
    2. change out old appliances – esp. the reefer and washer. (I use gas for cooking)
    3. replace lighting with energy efficient fixtures and bulbs.
    THEN do the photovoltaic.

So- my bummer is that the $800 rebate on a solar system is only for replacing an electric water heater. I use a Bosch direct heater so no rebate.

But I am going to press forward and get an efficient front loading washer and a front loading gas dryer. Hopefully, we can be trained to use the solar clothes dryer some day. But being realistic, we like our dryer-soft clothes and towels.

I put the deposit down on a second Prius tho. No mo foolin around with used gas guzzlers. Even the Miata gets only half the mileage of the Prius.

  315. LizKauai [Believer] June 6, 2008 3:39 pm

Stretch- ayah. no practice, eh? So where was Myki???? (bwahahaha)

  316. Stretch June 6, 2008 3:40 pm

liz – I think they went home take nap. When I drove up, she was taking a nap but I woke her up. ooopps

  317. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 3:43 pm

Liz, we have had a solar water heater since the early 1990s.

We also use energy efficient fluorescent light bulbs. However, for some reason the bulbs burn out before the 9 years are up. Haven’t figured out why.

On the minus side, we use a/c every night and on certain days.

  318. Pauoa Boy June 6, 2008 3:46 pm

Kine of mento with all these medical discoveries, but no moa cure for the flu just gotta suck it up feel miserable and wait til the ting pass.

Great info on Kalua. Does anyone know what happened to that other Kaiser HS super athlete that was All State that committed to UH couple of years ago. Can’t remember his name, think he went to a JC or was going to grayshirt. Supposed to have been a slot back?

  322. al June 6, 2008 4:03 pm

    will
i think you speak of shannon wise who went to orange coast college. i am not sure his whereabouts. will ask the boy tonight.

  323. al June 6, 2008 4:05 pm

jeeter ishida’s arm woes have scared the pro’s away for now. i also believe that he wants to get his education in anyway.

i thought he would be a “draft n follow” selectee, but, i guess they are very concerned about his arm.

i thought kometani would also fall in this category. but, i guess not.

  324. Will June 6, 2008 4:20 pm

Thanks Al, I was thinking and maybe his last name was Asilay or something like that. He was recruited as an “Athlete” and if not slotback was going to be a safety. I believe he was all everything in high school and a superb athlete.

But would also appreciate the update on Shannon.

  325. Stephen Tsai June 6, 2008 4:40 pm

Chris Assily commited to UH a few years back.
UH tried to grayshirt him. But he didn’t qualify academically, and when he did, UH didn’t have a scholarship He went to a JC.

  326. ai-ee-soos June 6, 2008 4:54 pm

    Chris Assily – googled:

    Orange Coast JC.

    to UAB Blazers ???

Perhaps someone , with more time, can pull up more info.

SteveM: Hope you’ve turned the corner on that bug. It sounds like the same thing that knocked me down twice at the beginning of the year. The first time lasted almost two weeks and I felt exhausted the entire time. The relapse a few weeks later lasted about a week. Nasty thing. Normally, Zycam does the trick, but I guess this was a flu not a cold. Glad your blogging muscles still work.

I haven’t called because I don’t want to get in the way. But, if there’s anything (at all) that I can help with…please pick up the phone and call me.

    BG

  342. BG June 6, 2008 7:33 pm

Tsaikos have made me feel really good with the nice comments. But, I have to set the record straight. Yes, I did arrange for the Richardson Field sites for the T-gates. But, it was Kazz, and Kazz alone who coordinated everything to make it the gigantic success it has become. And that’s the straight truth! We are blessed to have incredibly dedicated braddahs and sistahs…

  343. I Believe June 6, 2008 7:38 pm

    Hau’oli La Hanau Juju!

So…the Sugar Bowl list is out- what is irritating to me is that UH (Gregg Takayama) is quoted as saying UH only had three weeks to develop a policy and they did it on the fly…hmmm…first, there is precedence and second, how long does it take?

To me, you (UH admin and / or UH AD) make a few phone calls to other Universities and ask their cohorts how they have handled it (one day)…then the admin and / or UH AD checks with the Ethics people on what other Universities did and also specifically seeks guidance about anything UH wants to do which was not done by other Universities (one day)…policy is written as per suggestions from other Universities and with input gained from Ethics people (one day)…then UH admin and UH AD review, and make any suggestions for changing (one day)…then back to Ethics people for review (one day)…then approved by UH and followed.

If the above had been done, at least there would be no disagreement now b/t Ethics people and UH re: discussions which took place about formulating a policy in the first place…and paying for any children is bothersome, although I guess I can go along with some select spouses having their way paid.

In other news, support Hawai’i ‘boy’ Mark Kanemura on “So You Think You Can Dance” (I KNOW- I can hear the groans! But this IS pretty big time for a Hawai’i ‘kid’!)

K sorry dis has nothing to do with the blog but my Samoan friend went tell me this joke I taught was pretty funny…

A Tongan man hired a Samoan man to work at his cattle farm in Tonga. He needed a bull, so he sent the Samoan man to Samoa to buy a bull. Before he left, the Tongan man gave the Samoan man $600 dollars to buy the best bull that he could find. He bought a bull that cost him $599 dollars which includes the shipping and handling costs to send it to Tonga. He went to wire a telegram to his boss in Tonga and realized he only had $1 dollar left. He asked the clerk how much to send a telegram? The clerk said it cost a dollar per word. He told the clerk to write down “Comfortable”

K get annodah joke for wen you guys read the blog lataz.

A Haole and Portagee was watching Monday Night Football together. The Haole guy said,” I bet you ten dollars the quarterback throws an interception the next play”.

    The Portagee says, “You’re on”

Sure enough on the very next play the quarterback throws an interception. Shute says the portagee and hands the haole ten dollars.

” I cannot take your money” says the haole. ” I confess that I listened to this football game earlier this afternoon on the radio”

” So did I ” said the Portagee ” But I never thought he would be stupid enough to do it again”

  352. Pauoa Boy June 6, 2008 8:42 pm

For those of you who no get #346… in your best Samoan accent say ” Come for the bull” (Comfortable)

  353. J June 6, 2008 8:55 pm

Going with the theme of Pauoa Boy’s entry 351…

    True story:

Three people go to watch a UH Wahine Volleyball game. It’s early and they are watching the team go through their pre-game routine. They start talking about the match and which team has the better chance of winning.

One of the girls says that the ‘Bows going win. One of the other girls, who happens to be her sister says that UCLA get ’em. They go back and forth on it. Finally the girl who is picking UH to win says, “How you know? You watch ’em on TV already?”

And this is what happens when you grow up in a place where it’s common for sports broadcasts to be delayed on TV…

Since we’re doing Portagee jokes, here’s a good one.

Check your pockets hang on to any of the new State of Hawaii Quarters. If you have them, they may be worth much more than 25 cents. The U.S. Treasury announced today that it is recalling all of the Hawaii quarters that are part of its program featuring quarters from each state.

“We are recalling all the new Hawaii Quarters that were recently issued,” Treasury Undersecretary Jack Shackleford said Monday. “This action is being taken after numerous reports that the new Hawaii Quarters will not work in parking meters, tollbooths, vending machines, pay phones, or other coin-operated devices.”

The problem lays in the unique design of the Hawaii Quarter, which was designed and created by Albert Pacheco, a Hawaii native of Portuguese descent and a University of Hawaii graduate.

“Apparently, the duct tape holding the two dimes and the nickel together keep jamming the coin-operated devices.” said Shackleford.

My coworker, who is a Portagee from Boston, says he stopped reading it in the middle and checked his pockets. 😆

  356. Garret June 6, 2008 9:48 pm

Miami had their mini-camp, so there is some news about Bess. This note mentions that Bess was dropping passes.

Different season, same stories. After lighting it up through the air on Wednesday the Dolphins offense took a step back during Friday’s morning practice when the receivers struggled to bring in catchable balls.

Much like in past years, the coaches have expressed some concern about the wide outs consistency.

“When receivers don’t catch the ball it makes the offense’s job harder,” said receivers coach Karl Dorrell. “I have a group of receivers who really aren’t established….Our whole offense is a work in progress.”

Drops were everywhere during the morning and it stifled the passing game. Most of the time it was youngsters like Justin Wynn, Davone Bess, Jayson Foster and Selwyn Lymon dropping passes, but there were a few instances when Ernest Wilford’s old fumble fingers issue caught up with him.

I do NOT think it was an accident that Miami’s offense moved the ball when Bess was on the field. Hopefully the reporter stops referring to Bess as “limited weaponry”.

Josh McCown started with the first team again, but in MY OPINION the quarterback who had the best day was rookie Chad Henne based on how he performed during the first 11-on-11 set.

Working with the third teamers, Henne hit Greg Camarillo (notice the unit) in stride with a 20-plus yard pass on his very first throw, beating cornerback Nate Jones. Henne also threw a nice pass to Jalen Parmele in the flat that would have been for a decent gain.

I give Henne the edge over McCown and John Beck today because he moved the offense more with limited weaponry around him. At one point his receivers were Jayson Foster and Davone Bess, who are both under 5-foot-11. I suspect the coaches also liked what they saw because when it was time to do the second round of 11-on-11, guess who was the first quarterback out there, working with the starters?

  357. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 9:48 pm

Along the lines of guess the Tsaiko, try figgah which one was dis:

Meets a group of guys at a watering hole and eventually asks, ” So wat you guys meeting hea fo’?”
One of dem says, “We planning owa 40th Class Reunion.”
Tsaiko asks, “Fo’ real? Wat yea you guys grad?”
    😯

  358. Garret June 6, 2008 9:49 pm

Another Miami paper also had a report on practice. Interesting to see who will be on the starting OL with Samson.

Coaches are shuffling guys in and out, but the first-team offensive line stayed the same:

LT Jake Long, LG Shawn Murphy, C Samson Satele, RG Justin Smiley, RT Vernon Carey.

  359. Garret June 6, 2008 9:50 pm

This paper said that Henne looked shaky while the other paper said he did well.

Rookie QB Chad Henne, not surprisingly, looks a little shaky.

Henne hit a couple of passes in the flat, as well as a curl-in to Devon Bess. But he also held the ball a couple of times and sailed a couple of throws, including one that hit S Chris Crocker in the hands.

This is an awesome website that has the predictions from all of the magazines, for this year and for many years back.

Lindy and Athlon pick UH to finish 4th in the WAC (both have Fresno as #1)

Phil Steele has UH and Nevada tying for 3rd in the WAC (BSU #1)

Sure Fire Scouting picks UH to finish 2nd in the WAC (BSU #1, Fresno #6)

  361. Garret June 6, 2008 9:56 pm

If you look back at last year’s preseason predictions, the majority predicted UH to win the WAC.

  362. Garret June 6, 2008 9:57 pm

I love how this website compares the preseason predictions vs. the end of season rankings to come up with a list of the teams that were underrated and overrated each season.

  363. Bulla June 6, 2008 9:59 pm

    hey tsaikos,

just dropping in for a few, and see a few nightbirds around. on the way back to town from makakilo, HUGE FIRE IN KAPOLEI. between waipahu and punahou offramp, counted 5 fire trucks, 2 news vans (scoop jr.) headed west. as i came down makakilo drive, i could see the flames, looked about 3-4 stories high, in the residential area.

say a prayer for all families to be safe

  364. Bulla June 6, 2008 10:00 pm

congrats to kalua noa! good deal for him and his family. this kid can flat out FLY….once he gets the routes down…….buh bye………….cya………. hehe, he’ll be a good one.

    Garret,

    Howzit.

Any word on Boise settling on a QB?
Coming outta spring, there was no clear choice: Hamdan, Lomax and a coupla others split time in their spring game

  366. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 10:06 pm

Hope that fire is avoiding da ceded lands out west.

  367. Garret June 6, 2008 10:09 pm

    d1shima,

    Howzit!

I think that the BSU coaches are doing what the UH coaches are doing–not announcing a starter now so that all of the QBs have a big incentive to work hard all offseason. Since the coaches cannot work with the QBs now, the depth chart there won’t be known until maybe the 2nd week of their Fall camp.

I figure that we’ll have a pretty good indication of the depth chart for the UH QBs by the end of the 2nd week of Fall Camp. Of course, the depth chart may change once the games start, as Tyler learned in 2005.

  368. Garret June 6, 2008 10:12 pm

I think that I posted this in the last blog, but it it worth repeating: Congratulations to Kalua Noa! And congratulations to the Warriors for getting a great grayshirt recruit, one that will have an extra Spring Practice to get the hang of the offense and who will have time to develop before his eligibility clock starts. Kalua is set up perfectly to be ready to contribute when the JC WRs are done at UH in 2 years.

Believe it or not, I’ve got to get back to work. Everyone else is sleeping in my home but I’ve got to finish this document and send it out to the people working with me.

  370. Garret June 6, 2008 10:16 pm

Before I go, I’ll do a free play link batch. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want the off topic stuff.

Video of the B-2 crash in Guam shows how amazing it was that the pilots survived the crash. You can skip the first 2 minutes or so of the video, as the first B-2 took off okay…the second one was the one that crashed.

  372. what's wrong June 6, 2008 10:16 pm

    Eh, post #354.

So what’s wrong with a bunch friends getting together for a good time. Just because they are bloggers no mean that what they do is open to the public.

So, what’s wrong with that? No feel insulted if you weren’t invited. This happens every day.

If i were you, i would be more concerned as to why is it that I wasn’t included.

    Das what’s wrong!

The Tribune Company (owners of the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, and other papers) will cut costs by reducing the number of papers they print and laying off journalists.

Allowing ads to be placed inside of games will earn the PS 3 a projected $100 mil over 3 years! The XBox 360 already has a similar type of in-game advertising through an advertising company that Microsoft owns.

Woman received her 3rd DUI arrest in 6 years. Even worse was that she had her 3 kids in the car with her at the time (1, 5, and 8 years old). Even worse is that the 1-year-old child was behind the wheel when the police officer pulled her over!

    Free play links pau.

  377. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 10:21 pm

    Garret,
I guess I was just a little surprised to see Boise picked #1 by a couple of those mags. Johnson and Avery coming back is good news for them. Jeron Johnson is gonna be a playmaker on Defense.

haha What does BIO stand for? It looks like Bring It On, but that does not make much sense.

Don’t have much energy tonight. I’ve been napping intermittently since dinner time. Hubby is napping, too. Daughter came home after 9:30, ate supper, and is in her room watching TV.

  379. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:25 pm

My cat is outside staring at me thru the window, wanting more to eat. He’s too fat so I am ignoring him.

    By Invitation Only? I see.

    Glad they like each other.

  384. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:33 pm

  385. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 10:34 pm

    gigi,

Zell has made a lot of money.

  386. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:36 pm

    So has Gannett.

  387. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 10:36 pm

    as for me,
I like what Liz posted earlier

All I ask is a chance to prove that money can’t make me happy.

  388. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:39 pm

Yeah, I agree with that post by Liz.

I hear Ed McMahon is facing foreclosure. He was out of work for 18 months due to a broken neck.

I was thinking same thing could happen to us.

what were you like 14 years ago?

  393. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:45 pm

hey, I always liked that Burt Bacharach tune! It was one of my faves.

    Great parodies.

  394. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:46 pm

    yeah, I forgot I am 99. haha

  395. Stretch June 6, 2008 10:57 pm

  396. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 10:59 pm

I wonder if Gannett offers birthday holidays. Hubby’s office does.

  397. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 11:00 pm

    Stretch,

    Wat? Field trip?

    gigi,

Birthday Holiday? Like Christmas? Presidents’ Day?

  399. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 11:03 pm

yeah, D1, it’s one of hubby’s perks. Gets the day off on his birthday.

    Or he can cash it.

  400. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 11:04 pm

    al,

Last Minute. That’s another band from back in the day.

  401. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 11:05 pm

    gigi,

    Christmas is a birthday.

  402. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 11:09 pm

Awww, that Bacharach tune ended prematurely. Funny how old music brings back memories. Like — what were you doing when you first heard it?

  403. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 11:09 pm

    gigi,

How does your hubby’s company handle the .274% of the population who have their birthday on Christmas?

  404. d1shima [sez:] June 6, 2008 11:10 pm

    gigi,

    That song?
I’m gonna say I was sitting in a theatre.

  405. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 11:11 pm

hmmm, good question. Dunno. I don’t think it’s ever come up with his company.

THAT Sinatra video is my fave, too! Anything he sings is great. And all those glamorous movie stars — today’s stars cannot match them.

  411. gigi-hawaii © June 6, 2008 11:43 pm

I love anything by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time. I saw it over 10 times. Thanks for that one, d1.

You finally get the email a few days later due to your internet provider or email hosting or whatever wasn’t working, NOT due to SteveM BS’ing that it was sent.
