Double comebacks

A year ago, the Warriors faced a double setback when wideout Devan Stubblefield suffered a serious knee injury on a non-contact play during the first day of training camp and wideout Vasquez Haynes opted to undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Both have received medical clearance to practice, although Stubblefield is required to wear a knee brace the remainder of this training camp. Stubblefield had undergone surgery for meniscus and ACL tears.

After a tentative outing on Wednesday, Stubblefield showed the burst on Thursday that made him a high-priority recruit in 2014.

Hope they have a very good practice 2 day… no injuries…

  2. HawaiiMongoose August 7, 2015 10:17 am

Once again, great pics, thanks ST.

Nice to see the ball flying through the air to wide receivers, slotbacks, tight ends and running backs too. Throw, throw, and throw some more!

I’m too lazy to do the math.

Can anybody figure out what the strikeouts/per 9 innings stat for 64 strikeouts in 39 and two-thirds innings?

In two relief appearances, that’s 4.2 innings total, he struck out 12 and walked 1.

    This is Matt Cooper.

I wonder why he got promoted to Class A Advanced ball?

In a ten game stretch, he struck out 31 batters and walked 1.

This is like Sid Fernandez while he was coming up with the Dodgers, with better control.

    Total domination.

Look up Fernandez’s minor league numbers.

    It’s fun.

  4. H-Man August 7, 2015 10:32 am

Nice pics. Thanks ST. Plus your articles this morning in the SA were great.

  5. Da Punchbowl Kid August 7, 2015 10:32 am

Two more reasons to be excited about the upcoming season. Stay healthy my friends.

Great pics as usual, Stephen. Coach Gouveia looks like he’s coaching up those LBs very well!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

“Colorado’s defensive line depth took two big hits even before training camp opened Wednesday. The loss of Josh Tupou for the season for disciplinary reasons has been well-documented, but CU announced Tyler Henington will miss his second consecutive season after breaking his fibula and ankle in bizarre fashion last week. ”

Tupou’s name no longer on the 2015 roster. Still, Colorado has 22 DLs/DEs on the roster, so they’re not hurting in that area.

  7. Jeezy33 August 7, 2015 10:44 am

    6. Tupou should come Hawaii, redshirt this year, dominate as a senior.

  8. 3-Prong August 7, 2015 10:46 am

Brudda DPK, you are The Most Interesting Man o wat?

  9. A-House August 7, 2015 10:46 am

    future UH first team AA

  10. A-House August 7, 2015 10:48 am

    #7 – why???

  11. Jeezy33 August 7, 2015 10:52 am

    10. Because we are very thin on the defensive line and could use all the help possible.

  12. Bryson August 7, 2015 10:53 am

Looks like Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea was cleared to play this season by the NCAA…that definetly is a welcomed addition to the roster

  13. Old School Dave August 7, 2015 11:34 am

Great news regarding Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea! I’ll be watching for #55 this season at LB.

  14. Willie August 7, 2015 11:35 am

Amazing good news on the waiver approval. Must be one of the first times that the NCAA used common sense in Hawaii’s favor.

  15. letsgowarriors August 7, 2015 11:42 am

Idaho St is in the FCS, not FBC

  16. Da Punchbowl Kid August 7, 2015 11:43 am

    3-prong – Hardly! 😆

    You gonna be there tomorrow?

  17. Andrew August 7, 2015 11:47 am

    16.

    your point?

  18. H-Man August 7, 2015 11:48 am

Great news about Kema-Kaleiwahea. And Hawaii recruited Josh Tupou and who knows, he just might end up in a Warrior uniform. [When] Asked about the possibility of Tupou returning to the Buffs in 2016, Plati (CU associate athletic director) said, “We have no idea what his future holds.”

  19. cappie the dog August 7, 2015 11:55 am

    16.

New Hampshire is in the FCS, too.

  20. letsgowarriors August 7, 2015 12:03 pm

today’s TE article stated Idaho St. led the “FBC” in TE receptions

  21. A-House August 7, 2015 12:06 pm

#11: thin for 2015-16 season, but maybe not so for 2016-17?

  22. Captain Ron August 7, 2015 12:25 pm

My first post – no longer just a lurker. I must have missed the report, but is Aaron Zwahlen red shirt for this year? I haven’t seen his name or picture in the great photos we’ve been seeing?

  23. SteveM August 7, 2015 12:38 pm

    Good noonish everyone!

    Welcome aboard, Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea!

  24. jeezy33 August 7, 2015 12:39 pm

    Over/ Under

    Jahlani Tavai sacks – 5.5

I’ll take over. I think he’s got the IT factor.

  25. jimmy the lock August 7, 2015 1:32 pm

cappie the dog, pretty amazing you can write for a dog. My dog gets lazy too when it comes to math. 😆

    BTW, K’s per 9 innings – 9*K/IP

    TGIF!

    GO RAINBOW WARRIORS
    GO WAHINE

  26. hitman August 7, 2015 2:00 pm

aloha everyone !! welcome back jeezy33 never seen u on here in while !! the team looking better and better !!

  27. Abunai August 7, 2015 3:07 pm

    #24 Jeezy33

I’ll take the over as well… I liked him ever since he came here and I believe he has the IT factor… You can’t teach size and speed like he has…

  28. Abunai August 7, 2015 3:22 pm

Jeezy33? Any info on the other DL that might be coming?

  29. PONO August 7, 2015 3:39 pm

If we can stay healthy we have a lot of talent at the top of the depth chart. I’m starting to get excited. I think the LBs will wreak havoc and Wittek ill make a difference along with the improved WR core. Kemp, Collie, Stubbs, Haynes, Pedroza are an exciting group. Chee.

  30. kapakahi August 7, 2015 4:11 pm

    #19,

Tupou was recruited by the previous UH coaching staff…….specifically by Brian Smith…..but was lured to Colorado by Brian Cabral.

  31. Derek August 7, 2015 4:39 pm

BC said that UH is +42 against Ohio St., +30 against Wisconsin, and +28 against Boise St. I don’t know where he got that, but that’s what he said yesterday. That should be bulletin material already.

  32. Andrew August 7, 2015 4:47 pm

    31.

If the spread was that now for Boise State game, I think I’d bet on Hawaii for that one. I’m not saying Hawaii would win but I think the game would be closer than that.

  33. Inyoface August 7, 2015 4:57 pm

I don’t remember any Seahawk fans in Hawaii ten years ago.

  34. st. anthony trojan August 7, 2015 5:05 pm

    Betting is a science…plus luck…
Vegas has the science….you have to have the luck…

Remember coach Chow stated prior to the USC game in 2012….that no way USC was 40 + points better then his coached team…score at half 35-0….Wittek was the mop up 4 them…Final…49-10

  35. Capt. Ron August 7, 2015 5:41 pm

My first post went to Moderate, and doesn’t seem to be coming out, so try, try again. My first post – no longer just a lurker. Question – I may have missed the announcement, but what has happened to Aaron Zwahlen? I haven’t read his name, nor seen his picture in the great photos we’ve been getting. Is he a red shirt this year?

  36. 3-Prong August 7, 2015 5:42 pm

17 DPK: On Kauai working all weekend. Small kine playing in between. Hehe

  37. tom-warriornation August 7, 2015 6:10 pm

Yes; great pics ST, keep them coming. Makes me feel like being at the practice field!

  39. cocobean August 7, 2015 8:24 pm

#41. He got it from Phil Steele.

  40. cocobean August 7, 2015 8:41 pm

Chow is finally running an offense that gives us a better chance to compete against power 5 schools and light up the scoreboard against mid majors. Question is can the coaches implement the offense as it was meant to be run. This is Don Bailey’s offense he’s the only one who knows anything about teaching and tweaking it. Much like how Paul Johnson and June owned their offenses.

  41. Boolakanaka August 8, 2015 7:46 am

    Holomua Makani!
