DB Lewis gets junior year back

Safety Daniel Lewis Jr. and linebackers Ikem Okeke and Jeremiah Pritchard

Safety Daniel Lewis Jr. has been granted a medical hardship waiver that restores his junior-year status and maintains his two remaining years of UH eligibility. In other words: he redshirted in 2016.

Lewis suffered an injury against Michigan, UH’s second-game opponent in 2016, and missed the rest of the season. During the offseason, he underwent successful surgery for a sports hernia. He was able to participate in spring training.

Lewis, who joined UH in 2014, met the requirements for the waiver because: 1) he suffered a season-ending injury, 2) he did not play in more than 30 percent of his team’s games in 2016, and 3) the injury occurred in the first half of the season.

You can see that Danny Lewis has been working hard in the weight room. Looking for great things from the safeties and outside linebackers. Inside backers too. Game time will tell us just how good the corners are. Shaping up for a great upcoming season. Go Warriors !!!

Good news! H-man, I was just thinking how much bigger the Warriors are looking in general. Glad to see them working hard this summer!

Great news for Daniel and the Warriors-

The 4 things I’m concerned about the start of the football season is:
    1) The health of the team.
    2) Who’s going to be the primary backup for Dru Brown?
    3) Who is going to fill the void and production from Marcus Kemp’s departure?
    4) Who’s going to produce like Rigo Sanchez did?

Congrats to Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea on winning the HERO award! Nice guys do finish first.

Derek, those are good questions. Re back-up QB, no one stepped up during spring. I feel it is a concern. WR??? maybe Marcus Armstrong-Brown and hoping Ewaliko puts it all together. Certainly John Ursua and Dylan Collie will be productive at slot; Tui Unga at TE. Still, in spite of these questions on offense, the burden will be on the running game to keep the Warriors in the game. Saint Juste has to stay healthy. Tuiasoa needs to bring his spring showing to the game. JMO.

    Congrats to Daniel Lewis.
But wipe your fingerprints off the shopping cart.
I think it is a felony to be in possession of stolen property…

RE:….WRs…..don’t forget two players that were part of the rotation two years ago…..Isiah Bernard and Devan Stubblefield. I think both these guys got speed to stretch the field. Hopefully, more long TD passes will result instead of having to nickel and dime our way up the field.

Great news on Danny Lewis. Looking forward to seeing other players step up in 2017.

BTW, CSU’s new 41,000 seat stadium almost done. The arms race continues, even in the MWC.

    foodland shopping cart.

  13. H-Man May 25, 2017 6:20 pm

Kahuna, I agree. I overlooked them. Sorry guys.

  14. Old School Dave May 25, 2017 6:25 pm

Dem shopping carts aren’t cheap ($250+ each). Probably someone from the dorms decided to “use” the cart to transport items from the Market City Foodland.

    14.

    I’m in my early forties.

Do you remember the original Foodland in Market City.

I try to explain this market to the millenials at my workplace.

The market, as I recall, had no air-conditioning.

In retrospect, it was like walking through a supermarket in a third world country.

I remember nearly tripping on a cracked tile on the floor.

I think Brendan Hornung goes undrafted.

Tonight was a chance to lower his ERA.

    I’m still hoping.

  17. Willie May 25, 2017 9:36 pm

#16 Cappie, did you see the sports spot on Hornung’s comeback from that horrific injury? He took a liner to his temple and made a miraculous recovery. Props to him!

Just wondering what happens with Trepasso with now I believe 5 seasons in a row of floundering in the Big West.

  18. Petey808 May 25, 2017 9:43 pm

I’d like to see Kalakaua Timoteo get into the rotation. I think he can be a good one. Go Warriors!

  19. amela May 25, 2017 10:43 pm

Can’t wait for the football season to start Go Warriors! Defense looks good and with Dru back I’m overly optimistic.

    Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Memorial Day weekend!….please be safe out there.
    Great news about D Lewis.
It would also be great if the Warriors have 8…9 “go to guys”. Looking guud for 2017!
One rule in recruiting…one needs to be “greeley’ and get all that you can!
    IMUA WARRIORS!
