Clarke is Superman
Offensive lineman Ben Clarke is a biology major with a 3.65 cumulative GPA.
As a freshman center, he was named the Warriors’ most valuable player in 2012.
Last year, he moved to left tackle, where he allowed only one sack.
Today, he was named to the Lombardi Award watch list, an honor that goes to nation’s best offensive lineman or linebacker.
“It’s pretty cool,” said Clarke, who likely will remain on the blind side this season.

It’s Tuesday. That means “gassers.”
Here’s how the game works: The non-linemen run the width of Ching field — 55 yards — in no more than 8 seconds. They do that 28 times (with a break of about 20 seconds between sprints).

Meanwhile, the linemen do the same distance while pushing sleds that probably weigh close to 150 pounds. There are no time maximums, and the linemen keep going until the non-linemen complete their gassers. Well, that’s the intent, actually. But the prideful linemen keep going until after the non-linemen complete their workout and exit the field.
Go Superman !!!
Congratulations to Ben Clarke for this honor. Now let’s get some wins!!!!
Ben Clarke, thanks for being a Warrior. And for bringing your high school classmate and pal, Brendan Urban, along for the ride. Have a great season. And especially against the Buckeyes, Badgers and Broncos. Who knows, maybe the Lombardi Trophy awaits.
A real diamond in the rough huh… Kudos to the coach who recruited him… he has good eyes 4 a talent…
No excuses this year. Any team, Any place, Any time!
Just lacking the Superman looks.
Great accomplishment being named to a watch list.
Excuses can and will be found this year.
I see excuses, they’re everywhere.
The Coach’s Sense
JTL…. MAYBE SO… BUT at least none excuses for 7 games that they win.. so not to bad like b-4…however must agree you… the coach has excuses that has not yet even been invented…he he he
A Lomardi candidate – great way to stat the season. We hope Ben can bring home the hardware on that one. Am told by those in the know that we may have up to three NFL prospects on the O-line.
Warriors looking good. I think Ewaliko will have a breakout year. Love Muraoka’s tats, Packer’s too.
GO WARRIORS!!!
looking at the players pushing the sleigh with 45# plates – do they have to “run” or just push the sleigh 55 yds?
what is the best position for the hands to minimize weight/drag? top? middle? closer to the top or bottom?
my guess is the taller you are, like the 6’8″ OL, Matt Norman, the harder it’s to push the sleigh higher center of gravity – any mechanical engineers to confirm?
Why 28 times instead of 25 or 30? Just curious.
At least we UNDEFEATED, until OSU “tatoos”us at the Horseshoe…Gotta believe we’re going to “shock the world” and beat those Buckeyes!! Go Warriors!
It’s all physics. Just gotta know your angles and Newtons.
Well with 13 games… n only giving up 1 sack… speaks volumes about his training n coaches…ALTHOUGH HE WILL HAVE A STRONGER COMPETITION THIS YEAR FACING HIM.. I AM SURE HE IS IMPROVING HIS TECHNIQUES.. N IS n has been noticed by many teams n sports writers etc..
good 4 him… am happy all his hard work is paying him dividens now…
12.
That’s under the assumption that we beat Colorado.
55 x 28 = 7/8 of a mile
Wow. I was a bio-med club member in high school. I chose this. 18 meters is about 60 feet. Go warriors!
Humid and 90 deg. Temperatures last few days. I hope it gets cooler.
ST,
Sione Kauhi……still a TE?…..or now back to OL (per your photo caption)?
Did you see the all star NL line up vs. AL all stars MLB? Kolten Wong 2b
