When defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is not coaching or drawing up plays or studying videos, he usually has an iPhone pressed against one ear and a noise-reducing finger in the other ear.
Aranda has developed a network of contacts who share views, reviews and tips on upcoming opponents. The contacts also provide critiques of the Warriors.
It is an exchange that does not appear to have an offseason or much downtown. Of all the UH coaches, Aranda spends the least amount of time in the breakfast area after practices.
All of which makes it challenging when the Warriors stay in Nevada, where the hotels tend to have inconsistent cell reception. Often Aranda can be found outside, even in chilly weather, with the cell against one ear and a finger in the other.

The Warriors will have a walk-through at Mackay Stadium this afternoon.
Too bad it won’t be at night, where they can test Mackay’s light system and get a feel for the game-time temperatures they will experience tomorrow.
