Waves rally in 5 over Matadors, UH hopes still alive

Not that anyone is thinking it will happen but mathematically the Warriors are still alive in the playoff hunt.

Pepperdine (h) def. CSUN, 22-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18, 15-11

Matadors have to lose their last three, all on the road, to finish ahead of UH AND Hawaii would have to win both at UCSD next week

CSUN at USC Saturday, at UCI next Wednesday at The Beach April 13.

Other scores The Beach def. USC (home), 25-17, 25-17, 25-17

Cal Bapttist def. UCLA (h) in 4

It could realistically happen…CSUN has a tough road ahead (all on the road)…

UCSD won’t be easy, UH hasn’t been able to beat them both matches for a few years now.

All it takes is one Northridge victory and one UH loss. Odds are heavily stacked against UH. Guess the guys may not want to travel to BYU anyway. Not worried at all. Hope next year will be better.

This is off-topic, I know, but I just saw on Volleywood that JP is on the preliminary roster for the 2013 National Team.

Do you know if anybody else is going to be with their national teams this summer?

volleyball fan – It takes just one Northridge victory as they own the tiebreaker over Hawai’i. CSUN is on the road at USC this Saturday evening and again on the road next week at UC Irvine (Wednesday) and at Long Beach (Saturday). Against these three teams, CSUN is 1-2 (W 3-1 vs. USC, L 1-3 vs. both UCI and LBSU).
I’m curious as to how you can say “guess the guys may not want to travel to BYU anyway?” I’m sure a goal of this team and each player at the beginning of the season was to make the tournament and as fans, that’s a goal for the team too.

And I should have said it takes just on Northridge victory as they have two chances to win the final MPSF berth (this Saturday and next Wednesday) before Hawai’i plays next Friday

Thanks X. Congrats to JP. It can only make him better.

Apparently Hawaii is down 3-0 to LBSU in Irvine for now

Well the wahine beach team got beat by Long Beach 5-0 , pretty disappointing that it wasn’t closer. USC and Pepperdine tomorrow, tough road trip.

After seeing Punahou boys beat Miracosta I really hope UH can get Micah Ma’a and Tui Tuileta next from Punahou to join Fey. As well as the Mira Costa libero and Evan Enriques they are great players.

Don’t know where Ma’a and Tui are headed. Did speak with Fey’s mom after tonight’s match. She said that it all came together for Kupono to go to UH. Very impressed with Evan Enriques tonight, playing with a badly sprained wrist, basically one-handed when he came in early in Set 2. Agreed with Pono Ma’a that Enriques one-handed is better than a lot of players two-handed.
Also impressed with the Santa Barbara libero, the brother of WAhine Sarah Mendoza.
