It will also be on BYU-TV (Channel 374 for DirecTV subscribers like me 🙂 ).
thanks. 439 is also BYU-TV.
I hope I am wrong but I don’t see this going well without Siki.
Starting: S Ramos, OH Sedore, Olsen, MB: West, Holt. Opp: Averill. L: Cheape.
BYU up 5-0 early. Cougars 28-5 the past two season at Smith. TO UH.
BYU up 15-10 at the media timeout. tough place to serve and it’s affecting Warriors’ serving. 3 SEs so far.
BYU up 19-13. TO Warriors. Averill 3=0-3 in his start at opp Olsen 2-0-2. Sedore 4-2-7. they’re stacking the block on him. Holt 1-1-3. West without an attempt.
Zarkovic in to serve. BYU up 23-19. now 24-19
Averill blocked on a tip. win 25-19.
Not much Taylor could do with that horrible set. I like him at opposite he’s looks good.
Some stats. Warriors hit 409, 1 ace, 5 SEs, 0 blocks, 4 digs.
Averill 5-1-6, Sedore 4-2-8, Olsen 2-0-2, Holt 2-1-4,
Byu hit 684, 14-1-19. 1 aces, 3 SE. 3 blocks. 3 digs.
Patch 5-1-7, Sander 5-0-7, Rivera 2-0-3, Boyce 1-0-1, Young 1-0-1,
Taylor Averill is soo good. I wish UH had 6 of him, dude can do it all.
Hawaii playing much better in Set 2. they’ve led by as much as 3 but now 1 12-11. and 14-12.
Warriors up 15-13 at the TTO.
Olsen with 2 consecutive aces, lead 17-13. T’O BYU.
for the curious, BYU has lost twice at home. to Lewis 3-2, to Long Beach 3-2
Their road losses are at Pepperdine 3-2, at UCLA 3-0 on April 6, a night after rallying past host UCSB in five.
UH block and backrow defense has been soo anemic 🙁
Cougars come back to 17-15. TO UH.
Sedore with another kill, up 20-16.
Hitting error by Sander makes it 22-17. TO BYU
Warriors serving for the set 24-19.
Warriors with their first block ends the set 25-20.
They finally got a stuff on Sander, love it.
If UH picks up it’s blocking and can get some more digs they can win this.
agree WF … and also maybe cut down on the service errors a little.
warriors playing very loose … and really, they’ve got nothing to lose. all the pressure is on BYU.
Warriors hit 478 for Set 2. 3 aces, 2 SEs. 1 block, 8 digs
combined stats: Sedore 10-3-17, Averill 9-2-14, Olsen 4-0-4, Holt 3-1-6. West 1-1-2.
Cougars .160 in Set 2, 2 aces, 5 aces, 2. 5 blocks, 6 digs.
Cpmbined: Patch 9-2-14, Sander 6-4-14, Rivera 3-0-8, Young 3-0-3, Lavaja 2-0-3.
OKay Ramos is struggling in this set, darn.
Warriors down 7-4 in Set 3. TO UH.
Passing not that great. Lot of off-plays going down for the Cougars.
Ace Olsen’s ace brings the Warriors to 7-5.
BYU coach Chris McGown yellow carded should be a point. when he argues a back-row block. UH ties it temporarily at 7. BYU 2 straight points for a 9-7. lead.
Warriors tie it at 11. TO BYU.
McGown is the son of former BYUH and BYU men’s coach, and UH volunteer assistant under Mike Wilton, who is an assistant now with the Cougars.
It’s actually on channel 409
two blocks by UH give the Warriors the 15-12 lead at the TTO.
thanks. 409 is right
no touch overrules a touch call. a bit of a swing. UH up 16-13.
Okay here comes the home cooking.
ace by Byu brings the Cougars to 16-15.
Ever since that questionable call, BYU takes control. 16-16 TO. UH. Would have been 17-12 if Olsen had gotten the touch and Cougars in a bad rotation with their setter in the front row.
hawaii still scrapping … but ramos’ setting location is letting us down in the middle of set 3 …. he’s been hot and cold all match
That one tip by Olsen did get a touch and that switched momentum a lot. So unfair for Hawaii
Ramos was really great in set 2 I dont know what has happened.
poor Jace always gets the wrong side of bad calls.
Olsen gets the Call in to tie at 19.
Serve tough but not in the net. it’s 20-20. kill by Sedore makes it 21-20.
set 3… so tense
BYU setter with another overreach, gives UH set point 24-22.
Wow, ace by Sedore wins it 25-22.
Wow way to go warriors, getting it done despite some questionable calls against them.
wow … impressed that hawaii held on there … so many times this season we’ve seen them tense up when it’s been tight at the end of the set …
averill has been an INCREDIBLE surprise …. we knew he could play a lot of positions. but he and sedore matching the output of byu’s sander/patch has been huge!
Set 3, UH hits 333. 2 aces, 3 SEs.
combined: Sedore 13-3-21, Averill 11-4-19, HOlt 7-1-10, Olsen 6-1-13, West 3-1-7.Ramos 25 assists, Wechsung 12. 4.5 blocks.
I like Wechsung’s setting. much more comfortable setting the middles.
BYU hits 269 in Set 3. 1 ace, 5 SEs.
Patch 16-4.26, Sander 8-5-19, River 4-0-10, Lavaja 3-0-7, Boyce 1-3-4. 6.5 blocks.
Joby’s low sets are killing me!!
BYU up 13-7 in Set 4. dare we say 5?
okay now they are just making too many mental mistakes.
BYU up 16-7.
Net roll ace makes it 17-7. TO UH.
byu rolling now …. regroup before this set is over, and just go all out in the 5th
I don’t like UH’s body language at all in this, instead of going for the kill seems like they are just happy to not have been blown out.
Well, don’t think you pack it in. You try to build some momentum. But it is 20-10.
As for five-setters,
BYU 4-3 2-2 at home
UH 7-6, 1-3 on the road.
Sedore blocked, BYU wins 25-12.
two huge mistakes already jeez.
Warriors up 4-3 in Set 5 on Sedore’s ace. TO BYU.
Okay the timmer serving sub magic is pau.
Averill with a kill pulls the Warriors to 7-6
holy crap what a pancake dig by the byu setter boyce !!
Sander tip goes wide ties it at 7
BYU up 8-7 at the changeover.
hawaii has contained sander at times … but has never been able to stop patch … if hawaii can only just get a key/timely block on patch this set … it could make all the difference …
not looking good, BYU up 10-8. UH thinks about a TO but no.
surprised Wade doesn’t call a timeout. at 11-9
Wow, block by Averill ties it at 11. TO BYU.
there’s a block on patch … ties it at 11 !
c’mon warriors!
byu servers are tight … 2 errors in a row on the serve for them now
damn … sedore feels it too … serves way long
Another BYU SE ties it at 12. you could almost see that service error by Sedore coming 13-12.
olsen clutch kill on an out of system play 13s
BYU serving for the match 14-13. TO UH.
damn the block looked like it could’ve been on byu’s side
Holy sh*t … what the hell!
Ramos called for over the net violation. 15-13.
didn’t see it. what do you think?
Sorry but u dont make that call on match point, home cooking at its best.
not home cooking with the refs are brought in. but agree you don’t call it on match point.
Two plays before match point, BYU left side hitter was under the line. Not called.:-[
Was it Ramos over the net or West under? Either way, awful way to end…It’s some consolation that they made BYU look anything like the #1 seed…
West was under the net before UH made the kill…R1 overruled and gave BYU the match…
That’s home cooking for ya…
Would have been nice for UH to win, especially since BYU is in the final four no matter what…
what a crappy crappy crappy call by the refs … that is an absolutely disgusting way for the refs to inject themselves into an incredible match … and have a “call” determine the end of the match, instead of just letting them play! an absolute shame that hawaii loses that way.
still – at the end of the day, Hawaii left everything out there on the court … using a lineup they’d never used before, they played their hearts out. proud of the fight in the warriors tonight!
Great game. Great season for UH. Next year will be the year. Count on it
thats such a dumb rule, I know its for the safety of the players but BYU got away with at least 3-4 of those the whole match. UGH.
Sedore will be a beast next year.
good last match for a bad year….but a close loss is still a loss that doesn’t get you any further in playoffs.
It was a sad way to end this match. I at least wish BYU possibly earned their match point better but what happens, happens.
Looking forward to the Warriors next year!
Are there other matches going on today? Anybody got the scores?
I think Sedore needs to work on consistency and hitting more off speed shots. If he does he could be a POY candidate.
I think to have a really great year Wade needs to bring in a top libero, and a top setter and of course a replacement for JP at OH.
I think UH may have found it’s OPP in Taylor tonight, so might have to bring in another middle.
Hawaii played a great game and deserved better from the refs. Wade has a lot to build on for next year. He needs to figure out sooner who is ready to play at this level. It was a good match to watch regardless of the outcome. BYU may think they won but they had the s–t scared out of them. I hate BYU!
I believe the call was on Ramos for the back-row blocker. didn’t see it but sounded like it was a 50-50 ball according to radio.
be back in a bit with stats and other MSPF quarters.
Then that was a bad call the ball was completely on hawaii’s side when Ramos set it. Ugh.
That was match was awesome… besides the end result. Next year seems so promising now.
Long Beach sweeps Stanford 25-21, 25-17, 30-28
UCLA sweeps Pepperdine, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18
UCSB at UCI going to 5
Going to start a new thread, both with other MPSF scores & uh-byu rewind.
I was gone all day and now I read all the blogs. The one surprise for me is that the match went to five. UH Warriors can be proud that they took the BYU Cougars to the limit. Too bad it had to end so anticlimactically and questionably on such a controversial call.
