I was just curious, I saw UC San Diego line up, and they had some big players and smaller players. Hawai’i will have to go with a different line up if it gets to be more tight on the matches. From the looks of it, I would suspect Hawai’i will be going for the MPSF or national title from the looks of it. Are you sure they have the right line up?

I pointed this out, because if they keep winning, they’ll make it there again. MPSF, then national contention. Rotation?

Did you notice MPSF is only for the team that gets to the national title? What about California vs. California(Hawai’i) Players? Did you notice this strange mix? I did! What about the team, or the better team?

Great job by the Warriors. Averill really efficient.

The good news is that we did not play down to the level of competition like we did last year. We are very good but any one of ten teams could win this. Averill had his best match which was good to see. I was disappointed that Fey didnt play. Tiki808, I have no idea what points you are making. Please clarify.

So, no TV on Sunday, huh! Oceanic is trying to save a few bucks here and there by cutting on TV viewing for men’s volleyball. Worse, those like me who can’t get cable service in their area can’t even watch any of the matches, even the ones already televised. I think UH should sign up with a different TV station. At least on K5 people on satellite dish could get to view matches. I didn’t get satellite dish for this reason. Oceanic TV sucks, period. I told them that in an email. Glad I got to watch the BYU-Stanford match last night. Now that was a great thriller. BYU-TV is a whole lot more generous.

Apparently, Oceanic’s crew is doing the Pro Bowl, hence no mvb. But that still doesn’t explain why no telecast of the Wahine game today. Oceanic is currently in a “negotiation” period with UH on their contract. If they can’t come to an agreement, then it goes out to bid, I think in March. Coach Wade suggested writing letters to everyone – Tom Apple, Ben Jay, newspapers, tv stations, Oceanic, etc to complain. Letters from season ticket holders and Neighbor Island residents will probably carry more weight, so if you are in one of those categories, please write a letter!

For those of you on O’ahu whining about the lack of TV coverage for volleyball, you can simply head on down to the Stan Sheriff Center and watch it LIVE. No better way to enjoy a game than to watch it IN PERSON. At least Oceanic is nice enough to air the weekday matches for us.

You are welcome to call Oceanic to complain.
    6. Don’t think Oceanic is involved with the Pro Bowl. NBC is doing the game
Agree that letters from fans would carry more weight but I don’t think season ticket holders would complain since they are at the game.

  9. Jm2375 January 25, 2014 9:24 pm

Cindy – NBC hired Oceanic to do the game.

Sometimes season ticket holders want to watch the replays so you can catch all the commentary, interviews and stats that you miss at the game.

UH admin needs to know that fans are unhappy with what Oceanic is doing, especially during the negotiations.

  10. Cindy Luis January 25, 2014 9:56 pm

thank you. was unaware of that. Are they just renting the equipment?
Truem season ticket holders might want to watch the replays. Friday’s match was replayed several times today. (Saturday)
As I said, you’re welcome to call Oceanic. And UH admin.
But UH agreed to the contract, which did not guarantee all vb matches being aired. It means that OC is doing an equal number of men’s and women’s sports. This spring that includes BSB and SFT.

  11. Jm2375 January 25, 2014 10:40 pm

Apparently they hired the crew as well.

    11. Thanks.
