Update on SandBows times Wednesday, and Texas

Trying to sort out the confusion and changes.
As of 10 a.m. today (Tuesday)

Matches start at 4 p.m. vs. USC at Nos. 5 and 6. Nos. 3 and 4 go 15 minutes after the 4 p.m matches done. both courts used for the early matches just one court for the last two. Televised live will be No. 2 at 7 p.m. and No. 1 15 minutes after the 7 p.m. match is done.

Not sure yet how Sunday will go with 2 duals scheduled. At the moment it says Nebraska at 7 p.m., Cal at 8. But there is also supposed to be TV so no way can they use the same format as what is scheduled for Wednesday.

As for Texas, had a nice chat with Jerritt Elliott. they’re doing the tourist-y thing, today its the north shore. They’ve been to Waikiki, Hanauma, Sandy’s, Outrigger.
said he’s a little thin at positions and will be working on speeding up their offense.

Is it possible that Wade is recruiting for the next recruiting class(not the one already sighed).?I think when you recruit internationally, you really need to recruit for two years to allow the kid to get his paperworks in order, to make sure he is NCAA eligible, make sure the kid is academically ready.

There is just so many hurdles to climb over with international players that I think its unreasonable to think the kid will be able to come in during the fall.

We also have a very good class coming in next season. 3 from the Youth National Team(Worlsey, Rosenmeier and Gasman) and Dalton Solbrig(who played for some USA training team). Add James Anaatasiades who was a member of the Cyprus National team, you got some very good kids coming in.

We definitely could use an Umlauft type but not sure we can get the kid in time for next fall.

In my mind if Wade is making a home visit at this time, , it’s a recruit for next season, signing period is in April. No way he would go out of his way during the season to visit a recruit that won’t sign until November. he would visit sometime in the summer if that was the case.

UH has a great recruiting class, but I see a lot of them red shirting, for sure Worsley, Solbrig and Rattray.

If Wade is going all the way to Netherlands, I don’t think he’s come home without a signed recruit. The player must be a very good one too. With Jones being a senior, do we have a second setter in the wings.

someone on volleytalk just pointed out a thread about a dutch player wanting to play in the USA named Stijn van Tilburg.
Saw some youtube videos of him. He looks good and is 6′ 8.

the signing period begins April 13th.

    3. His name is Kekoa Pukahi, he is redshirting this year.

Wade isn’t supposed to discuss recruits, just know from being around the team where he went. Didn’t hear if it was for next year or 2017.

above is the link to current roster, you. Pukahi is redshirting, as is Navaho. They haven’t used Owens yet. they are trying to save him but if they get in trouble in the middle, they may have to use him.

In the arena, watching Milan Zarkovic work with a couple of the Warriors. Koelsch and Taylor happened to walk in early so they’re workng out too. Someone mentioned to Milan about Texas and he started singing All My Exes Live in Texas. He is quite the character.

    7. LOL

Warriorfan(#2) ….yeah…I think some of the kids will redshirt but still think the possibility that Worsley and Solbrig will contriubute. Worsley could play Libero since he play that position with the YNT. Solbrig looks like a solid vball player who could play MB, OH, or OPP. Hope he can turn into another Taylor Averil. His youtube shows him playing middle and outside.Very versatile guy.

We will lose Leung, Sedore, and Hartley out of the 2 deep rotation, so there is room for those coming in to crack the rotation. Not sold on the guys on the bench like Keckin, Radner, Durni, and that transfer from CSUN.

I think Milan brings a lot more to this team than just his son. Spencer also adds to the coaching team because he can relate in terms of the closeness in age and the fact he knows what it takes to be a winner. They both seem to be great teachers and motivators. On paper, Hawaii does not have the best talent in the league. If they win it all it will because of Charlie and his staff. IMHO

  11. warriorfan March 17, 2015 3:42 pm

IMO hawaii does have the most all around talent. they are the only team that has a player in the top 5 in almost every stat in the mpsf. They have a stud middle, a great setter that is exceeding expectations and leading the league in assists. A great opposite two, very good lefts and a good libero that leads the league in digs. I think this is the year for UH!!

I really like Milan and Spencer , I could see Spencer as a head coach in 7-8 years , maybe earlier.

    9. I really don’t see Worsley playing much next year, with Jennings at setter and Kanatake at libero, so I think it would be smart to redshirt him, then he can compete as back to Jennings with Pukahi or to start at libero.

    back to Wahine indoor team

North Texas is in for a scrimmage, they’re doing a ‘wash’ format where points scored only when serving and after getting two in a row. they’ll go to rally scoring match format later. Shoji is the up ref.
Current lineup is Manu-Olevao, Kahaki, Greeley, Taylor, Magill, Higgins. Maglio the other middle. She looks very good running a couple of slides.

  14. Ron March 17, 2015 5:17 pm

WF I generally agree with you but I think Pepperdine and Irvine have us beat as far as starting team raw talent is concerned. You have mentioned yourself about our weakness at second middle . Our depth has kept us up in the standings but I attribute that more to coaching decisions than talent.[also the emergence of Hartley has helped strengthen the left side] What this team has going for it is guts! I love to watch them play.

Magpie, is that Emily Maglio’s new nickname from her mates?
