Story first tweeted by Tsai, picked up by Kekaula

Punahou junior quarterback Tui Tuileta commits to UH.

Chow has agreed to let him play both sports, football and volleyball.

Would be a great ‘get’ for Warrior volleyball for the 2015 season.

Now they just need to get Evan Enriques and Micah Ma’a and warrior volleyball will be rocking.

don’t know aout those two. think Ma’a would be a better libero than a DI setter. Enrigues definitely a high vb IQ but still on the smallish side.

Great get for Hawaii! It is awesome that he is staying home to play both sports

If Enriques is too small to hit outside in the MPSF i definitely think he could become a great libero.

Ma’a I really like him considering he’s just a sophomore and looks to be over 6 feet already.

    4. Ma’a is around 6’2″ so it isn’t impossible to be this height and set on a DI team since we found out Ramos can do it.

true. Ma’a has a lot of growth in him.

    4. WF, enriques has too great of an arm to waste as a libero. Watch for Grand Canyon to make a move in the MIVA with a couple of the Kamehameha-Kapalama kids going there.

If Tuileta is projected to play at QB at UH, versus, say DB, as well as OH in volleyball…that’s a LOT of wear and tear on the rotator cuff. Playing both sports for several years already and starting as a young underclassman at Punahou…again, I’d be concerned about wear and tear on the shoulder in college.

  9. Warriorfan April 12, 2013 7:22 pm

    8. true but he has been doing this for his whole Punahou career, football then volleyball and club volleyball.

I know Kaniho from Kam is going to grand canyon, he Will be great for them. Who else is Grand Canyon getting from Kam??

    Warriorfan,

Even more so…maybe very young now, but may be feeling it later on. This is why they have pitch counts on youth baseball. I wondered this about Jarrett Arakawa, starting QB at Iolani for a few years, also basketball, then pitching. Played summer baseball and is now out injured for the season. So much game action for several years in several sports. The risks of overuse/lack of recovery time injuries… It would be interesting, as this is a rare combo of college sports. Danny Farmer did it at UCLA, but he was a WR, not a QB.

WF, Cullen Mosher. had it in my story Sunday

I agree with you, Cindy, about Eric Enriques. Maybe he could still grow some. He’s not an adult yet so he’s a growing boy. Sure wish he would choose UH.

  14. Warriorfan April 13, 2013 6:45 pm

Mosher is a good player as well, undersized a bit but real impressive.

VBF, Enriques’ first name is Evan, not Eric
