Tuesday check-in, Mol/van Tilburg wins OTB Ivie Award

mol

would like to share this touching picture from Mol’s instagram but can’t download. Kind of nice that Namahoe kept Mol part of the team when bridging the gap between Mol on the bench and team in a huddle.

As happens on lab days (Tues-Thur) team goes early (630 a.m. start). nice thing is they are back in the arena and not in Gym 1. Better atmosphere to be in the big-arena in which they will be playing next week.

Hawai’i opposite van Tilburg wins 2017 Bryan Ivie Award

Van Tilburg wins Brian Ivie Award from Off The Block as best opposite in the country.

Spoke with Mol and he was leaving the arena on crutches and in a boot. Said he was doing an Xray yesterday, No fracture, likely a sprain but they are making sure. said he expects to be able to go next week.

Team will be leaving Saturday for Ohio State. think they are going out earlier than I am. I have the redeye to LA then Sunday to OMH.

Greeley dropped by after weights. said her shoulder continues to get better. said she was surprised about Smith’s decision to transfer.

Sounds like Freitas has left the team and is going home to Maui after the semester is done. Last day of class is May 3.

SandBows leave Wednesday for Pismo Beach and defense of their Big West title.
think that’s about it and it’s not even 8 a.m.

    Congrats to Stijn!
Hope Hendrik’s injury isn’t severe. Maybe Dalton will start in the PSU game to let Hendrik rest a few more days.

    Best wishes to the SandBows.

Wow, Smith leaves a big hole at libero for the following season with her transfer.

Wow. Well deserved recognition for Stijn and fortuitous publicity for the program!

@2. Agree that Emma’s transfer is regrettable for the program. Perhaps Ross’s athleticism makes her a candidate for libero…

    2. we talked about Smith last week. everyone agrees.
we’ll see who they will look at. Ma’afala could be an option

    1. If Mol can play, he will start against Penn State.
PSU is a concern for Hawaii. Nittany Lions have been well as of late, have a win over Ohio State.

  6. Michael April 25, 2017 7:32 pm

Is there a chance that OCSports will televise the PSU match?

    16. prior day’s post. Charlie said on Bobby’s show something like that it was better that the first round match wasn’t held in Hawaii. If if was, it would be more difficult for the team because they would have the match on say a Tuesday, then have to travel to Ohio St for the next one on Thursday, etc.

I wonder if Emma knows that the coach she was planning to play for next year has retired as well.

Why is there a need for Ma’afala? Anderson and Guinasso must be familiar with the system after three years. And I would assume they are decent passers/diggers, considering both have been playing back row since high school.

Was my comment deleted? I thought it posted.

Anyhow, hoping Mol is good to go. I enjoy watching him play and got to meet him at one of the away games and is a great person. Hope he is able to finish out his career on top.
