Recap from Day 1, Practice II
Shoji was pleased with the first practice although he said, “We didn’t do much.’ Except for skills. They went about 30 minutes longer than scheduled.
Second practice 5-730 p.m. More skills and small groups. Was a little surprised they went to a mini scrimmage so early in the 2-a-days.
Played a game called B-O-W-S, basically first team to 4 wins.
They switched up players but one side originally had Higgins, Long, Magill, Anderson, Mendoza, Passi, and think Huff. Only one middle in at a time. Passi hit left and right. Long hit heavy balls on 3-meter attack.
Other side had Koelsch, Greeley, Guinasso, Kahakai, Adolpho, Maglio, sometimes Ponce.
Flashes of brilliance, pretty good for so early. Do like Koelsch. sets a very quick ball, quick feet, blocks well.
We’ll see how they are in the morning. It’s early at 6 a.m.
Thanks for the recap, Cindy. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Thanks Cindy!
I know it was only Day One but has were the connections with the setters and the middles in that mini scrimmage?
Mahalo Cindy for your coverages, even stuff like Sarah’s ponies! :>)
As great as Uiato was, she seemed uncomfortable setting the middle. I hope whomever starts at setter will feed the middles, who appear to be our most experienced of all the hitters.
Cindy, Thanks for you inside info. I am looking forward to watching this team grow and mature during the year. PS Great write up on Dave. You made him seem very human and someone deserving of our esteem.
Read that Kalei will only be playing volleyball this season. Probably for the best.
VBF, a lot of free play going on during the scrimmages. not like there are set plays being run. Was a bit sloppy all the way around. scrimmages were very short.
uhfan — that’s good/interesting to hear about adolpho. it will serve her well in both sports. she can focus on vball this year, and redshirt on bball. then focus on bball next year.
