2-no, it’s not. Just go to mpsports.org and find the standings there (which is what was done for this thread)

No playoffs for UH this year. UH would have to win four matches and if USC would have to lose to Pepperdine. It’s about as impossible as if mathematically. After having watched BYU match against UCSB, I learned that they need to win only two matches to clinch the MPSF title. They will be highly motivated to win at UH. Taylor Sanders is tops. His only weakness is a string of missed serves, but then he has more career aces than anyone else and now is #2 in career kills as well. All I hope is that UH will play inspired and make the match interesting.

    2. sorry for the confusion. I had forgot to delete the first USC line after moving them down to 8.
standings are correct on the amended initial post.
    4. it’s going to be a reach but they are mathematically still in.

wish the UH sand volleyball twitter would update.
Kind of sad USF could have a livestream but Stanford can’t.

    8. USC just beat UOP Stockton so now they are 15-9. UH is 11-9. That’s the nail in the coffin. Now it is mathematically impossible for UH to make the playoffs since USC owns the tiebreaker even if UH wins four more matches and USC loses to Pepperdine next week. UH won’t even be able to play the role of spoiler as both Pepperdine and BYU are way ahead, pretty much guaranteed to host quarterfinals. All’s left is to play for pride. Too bad that the road trip to Pepperdine two weeks from now will be meaningless. I feel sorry for the guys.

BYU just won a hard-fought, 4-game thriller against UCLA. The online broadcast stated that BYU needs one more victory to clinch sole first place. Then they can host all MPSF playoffs (provided they win their quarterfinal) and all those 3 matches will be broadcast live online.

So I predict that BYU will beat UH the first night as their motivation will be super-high. Then they may slack off somewhat on senior night where UH be highly motivated to win for pride and send off their seniors on their last hurrah. You can guess whom I’ll root for each night based on my above analysis.

    don’t see it that way.
UH has the tiebreaker over UCLA
UH at 11-9, UCLA at 12-8. both with 4 matches remaining.
    mathematically still alive

  13. Cindy Luis March 29, 2014 10:02 pm

UCLA’s remaining matches: At CSUN, at Long Beach. host Cal Baptist, host BYU
UH hosts BYU (2) at Pepperdine (2)

What about the MPSF playoffs? 4,5 and Hawai’i is number #9 seed. Where will Hawai’i be placed in the playoffs? If they did get into the MPSF playoffs?

  15. Cindy Luis March 30, 2014 7:01 am

Hawaii is not the no. 9 seed, they are currently in ninth. they have to make top 8. Hawaii’s only chance to make it is to finish ahead or tied with UCLA. Warriors have the tiebreak on the Bruins.
Then UH is no. 8 and would go to No. 1 BYU
