Although the event isn’t officially over until Sunday when Wichita State and No. 23 Creighton meet for second place, Hawaii was awarded the championship trophy before leaving with Hartong named the MVP. The Rainbow Wahine (11-1, 3-0 SVC) ran their winning streak to nine when snapping the Shockers’ winning streak at 10 in front of 3,251 at Charles Koch Arena. Senior libero Ali Longo had 20 of Hawaii’s 45 digs against Wichita State (11-2, 1-1).
Hawaii return to play an exhibition against Toyota Auto Body of Japan on Wednesday. The Wahine open their Big West title defense Friday when hosting Cal State Fullerton.
