I thought the USC/FIU winner would face Pepperdine

The AVCA bracket they put out would have winner of FIU vs FSU play against Hawai’i for a championship spot. Is that wrong?

from the looks of the bracket, it is NOT a true double elimination tournament in that if automatic semifinal spot winners Hawaii or Pepperdine lose tomorrow, there is no rematch with the same team (have to lose 2x) to be out. Tomorrow is single elimination semifinals and finals, as far as I can see- don’t see any conditionals on tomorrows bracket.

I hope they change that format when they switch over to being an NCAA sport. Having a double elim first round/second round but then a single elim semi doesn’t make sense.

The sudden death Final Four is the format that the AVP uses (as did the FIVB when there was no Pool Play). There is never a chance of a double final in the AVP.
every team knows how they must qualify to get to nationals…and every team knows what happens when they get there…if hawaii just takes care of business like we all know they can…no prob…so far they have taken care of business or… lose early???…just win every match !!! it is what it is…go sandbows go !!!

I expect stanford to start building a good beach team. Stanford itself is a draw for students and if they can get kerri to coach, they should be even more set.
Kerri won’t be there until after Rio in 2016 (if at all). She has her family in Southern Cal. Pretty sure if she wanted to coach, any school would take her.

Anyway out of all the teams in the final four, UH is the youngest, only losing Cook and maybe Ali Longo 🙁
39. Cindy was talking about expanding, and how the ncaa will take it over. So I was saying the possible teams that could be good.
I fully expect the top teams in the west to continue to remain to be Pepp, USC and UH with UCLA joining them in elite status soon (they are getting a ton of talent in the next few years)

I feel like the men’s final was played yesterday. Loyola is no doubt a good team. They’ve got an experienced team having a tremendous season. But if they win tomorrow – and it’s certainly possible since they’ve got “home” court advantage – they would’ve only had to play one MPSF team, and incidentally, only one team ranked in the top 10.
If the Wahine win the overall title, I hope there will be a special ceremony to recognize them, don’t you agree?

It’s too bad UH got off to such a bad start, they could have easily won this.
On to next season sand bows, UH was the youngest team in the final four with only one senior. Along with a great incoming recruiting class, there is no reason to think UH will be back in the final four next season and maybe even be the favorites.
Looks like Pepp will probably breeze thru to their second title in 3 years.
And realistically Pepp would have easily won last year as well if it wasn’t for some injuries.

Pepperdine’s one loss this year was to USC.
Don’t know if they would have easily won last year. but everyone was surprised that the Waves didn’t bring at least one extra player last year to the nationals. they lost the title when having to concede the match due to an injury forfeit.
