Friday checkin: Hall, Top 25 scores (early)

Sorry to be MIA until now. was gone all morning.

Just to end the speculation, Hall was arrested Monday night on a suspected DUI. it will be in tomorrow’s paper. The optimum word being SUSPECTED

As I said last night, it was a personnel issue handled by the AD. Today Matlin said:
“I followed the (Collective Bargaining Agreement) and then made the decision.”

So how many posters like the taste of shoe, slippah, or bare foot?

    Thanks for the entertaining posts.

  5. Andrew September 18, 2015 3:35 pm

Hope it all works out for him regardless of what happened/happens.

  6. Cindy Luis September 18, 2015 3:44 pm

    2. curious as to why you think it would continue

  7. Maverick September 18, 2015 3:49 pm

    6. Probably because people can be nosy and have a morbid fascination with others’ misfortunes. They are curious about the details of the arrest, what about his family, reaction from the other coaches and players, etc. etc.

But you and I will always have Paris.

  8. Aloha73g September 18, 2015 3:52 pm

Working in the insurance business I can tell you DUIs are never a fun experience, and they are definitely life impacting.

Just glad no one was hurt or killed, and hope it is a learning experience for Coach Hall. Now, back to Volleyball!!! LETS GO BOWS!!!

Looks like Long Beach is going to be a big nemesis again for us

  11. John September 18, 2015 4:01 pm

Meh… Nobody’s perfect. We all make mistakes whatever they may be.
Back to VB. Looking forward to checking in with live stats later.

    Go Bows!

  12. John September 18, 2015 4:02 pm

I can’t help to say this but the Big West is kinda weak this season 🙁

  13. Cindy Luis September 18, 2015 4:04 pm

    7. Oui.

    8 again, suspected.

  14. islandman September 18, 2015 4:06 pm

    6. … Because people will be speculating about something else later, like on another subject.

  15. Maverick September 18, 2015 4:06 pm

    10. LBSU was picked to finish second in the Big West, and got Dave’s first place vote.

    12. Not kinda, very weak. I will be shocked if UH’s RPI remains in the top 16 even if they go undefeated the rest of the season.

  16. John September 18, 2015 4:13 pm

    @15

I know.. Kinda sad really. Not ragging on other teams, just wish the competition would be more competitive to keep the Wahine on their toes. Can’t afford lapses if they wanna go far this season.

  17. Maverick September 18, 2015 4:23 pm

    16. Agree. I wish the other teams would play cupcakes. To put numbers to this, the big west has a record of 41-44 (.482) so far, including UH’s 8-1 record. The power five historically have non-conference winning records above .600

  18. Andrew September 18, 2015 4:25 pm

    15 & 16

Well at least their win against ranked San Diego should help. If UH ends up not hosting, I have this bad feeling that they’ll be sent to Seattle…..again.

  19. tongo September 18, 2015 4:30 pm

Sorry to hear about it. Wishing Coach Hall the best! Let’s move forward.

  20. Maverick September 18, 2015 4:33 pm

    18. Any non-conference win by a Big West team will help UH, not just the ones against ranked teams. I’ve written about this before, specifically that the power five teams are really good about winning their non-conference matches, and most of their opponents are against weak teams.

Btw, I think UH can beat Washington in Seattle this year if UW has the subregional and UH doesn’t. UH has height and depth, and is better than last year’s team that lost in four.

  21. tongo September 18, 2015 4:45 pm

#20 I agree. My guess is that we would beat Washington this year. We still need to fix a lot of areas but Dave has talked about our weakness, and perhaps more importantly, we have viable options this year in each position minus Huff. Should be fun with spirited discussions on who should start.

  22. Tarai September 18, 2015 4:47 pm

    what happened to Zach Radner?

  23. Andrew September 18, 2015 4:47 pm

    20.

I agree but it’s just a little irritating they continuously get sent there. I think the worst was 2012 when they nearly beat UW in four and had match point. I remember both coaches were very upset that the NCAA placed them both in the same sub regional.

  24. warriorfan September 18, 2015 4:56 pm

My one worry TMO has yet to hit positive against UW, or UCLA, who i think UH might face in the sub regional as well. USC also a possibility,Bricio’s serving is deadly.

  25. warriorfan September 18, 2015 4:56 pm

    22. What do you mean what happened to Zach Radner??

  26. Duster September 18, 2015 4:58 pm

I think the lawyer-types would say “ALLEGED” instead of “SUSPECTED”. But then again, what do I know. I do know that I wish Coach Hall the best.

  27. islandman September 18, 2015 5:01 pm

” Zach Radner, who was projected to start at middle blocker for the volleyball Warriors this coming season, has retired from the sport to focus on school. Radner is majoring in engineering. ” ( Tsai blog)

Too many “good” recruits coming in ?

  28. Tarai September 18, 2015 5:01 pm

cindy said that he was leaving the team to concentrate on studies.

  29. Tarai September 18, 2015 5:04 pm

sorry cindy it was on ST’s blog

  30. warriorfan September 18, 2015 5:05 pm

Yikes, not good Zach was penciled in as a starter IMO. UH will have to rely on freshmen middles which is always scary. I read on volleytalk that Wellenreiter is off the team as well.

  31. warriorfan September 18, 2015 5:11 pm

Wellenreither back at Northridge, which is kinda weird.
I guess Gasman and Owens will start.

  32. Maverick September 18, 2015 5:25 pm

    24. True, but we know from the Florida match that she can hit well against a big team. She just needs to have more consistent performances. I know, a big if.

  33. warriorfan September 18, 2015 5:35 pm

I think TMO has more problems with teams with size that can play fiesty backrow defense too, Florida wasn’t soo good in the backrow, neither was texas and she does good against those teams.

  34. warriorfan September 18, 2015 5:59 pm

arizona taking texas to 5. Kalei Mau is much improved. I never thought she would be this effective at the high D1 level.

  35. Ron September 18, 2015 6:12 pm

WF- Florida had O’Rourke in the back row. TMO just played smart against them.

  36. warriorfan September 18, 2015 6:21 pm

O’rourke was good but the rest of florida’s backrow players were not.

  37. warriorfan September 18, 2015 6:39 pm

Texas won in 5. I wouldn’t mind the wahine being in their regional.

  38. Cindy Luis September 18, 2015 7:03 pm

    26. our cop reporter said it was suspected DUI.
    29. no worries. I’m not the men’s beat writer, Tsai is.
