I hate to say it but using the new interactive seat selection gizmo on the UH ticket site where you can see seats available I’m not impressed with how ticket sales are going.
It could be that many are thinking that this isn’t going to be a sell out so they will walk up which could boast attendance.
Some fans that I have talked to are passing on this because of no Wahine players on the roster.
It is what it is. And it is over 2 weeks away.
The prices are set by USAV.. Discretionary income is at premium so it could be a little pricey.
That there are no Wahine players is kind of weak. If they wanted to watch good volleyball, they’d come.
For me it’s just not that there’s no former wahine players, there’s no Logan Tom or Dani Scott two of my all time favorites. Quite honestly I do not care for any of the players on the current national team (too many PSU players) Plus is the first string even going to play?? Because I am not really interested in seeing a US team starting krisitin Richards, and Kim Hill on the outside.
I’d actually go if Carlini was the starting setter, I wanna see her play in person.
re. 3 meant Lindsay Berg instead of Dani Scott, I know Scott is like 45 now.
nice to see ann miller’s article on michelle wie … and that ann is still doing some writing on the side.
haven’t bought my tickets yet, but i plan on attending.
there was a post on VT by a poster with a usav moniker associated with this us cup exhibition who said there may be a webcast of the matches. but i’m not sure …
i wonder if there’s a push to get the local club and school teams to attend. it’d be a good experience for the kids to see this caliber of play.
also (i don’t know if it’s been mentioned) … but tri bourne and his partner john hyden won the FIVB Berlin tournament last week. it was a grand slam event, so they picked up a lot of points from it.
there haven’t been too many local players making an impact on the beach scene in the last few years. nice to see bourne/hyden make a major breakthrough with their win.
8. yes had its own thread and ran a brief in the paper when it happened.
6. Ann seems to be taking a working retirement. She finished a book and freelances for the paper.
I went online yesterday and for both nights, quite a few sections — including the upper levels — are completely sold out. There are several sections with just single seats remaining. There were a lot of the VIP ($150) seats left but if you’re looking for $20 or $35 seats, those might be a little hard to find if you’re picky about which vantage point you prefer. It looked to me like ticket sales are going okay — unless they’ve blocked off seats as being unavailable and are holding them for groups that might not materialize or for whatever reason.
The upper deck isn’t sold out because they’re not selling tickets for the upper deck.
I counted everyone of those available dots in the lower bowl for Friday appx 1166 seats still available so maybe it’s not all that bad.I don’t know how many it holds.
