Dig Pink tonight Hawaii 3, Cal Poly 0

I like the pink uniforms. Shoji has forgotten about ordering them in time. Finally put Ah Mow-Santos in charge.

Looks like they went back to the non-Mendoza starting lineup. Longo, Taylor, Vorster, Manu-Olevao, Uiato, Hartong, Adolpho.

Hawaii’s passing much better tonight, they seem looser and it seems that Cal Poly’s attack is slower and they aren’t hitting as hard as UCSB did last night. Helping out the Wahine a bit tonight is they already had 3 SEs. UH up 15-9. Vorster 2-0-2. Still think they are going to Hartong when they don’t need to. but she is 5-0-8. You might see Kastl earlier tonight. Manu-Olevao is 2-3-8.

  2. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:21 pm

UH is making the off plays that they didn’t last night. They are up 18-11. TO CP. Mustangs hitting 208, Wahine 375.

  3. UHfannva October 12, 2013 7:24 pm

Cindy, are they going to auction off the pink jerseys like a few years back?

  4. eMpTy October 12, 2013 7:29 pm

The wahine look a lot more energetic tonight. Go Bows.

  5. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:29 pm

Don’t know if they will do that. They obviously should.
    UH wins Set 1 25-17.
    Hartong 5-0-10, Taylor 3-0-4, Manu-Olevao 3-4-10, dolpho 3-2-6, Vorster 2-0-2. Hitt 333 to CP’s 188. UH 1 block, CP 0. Wahine 17-7 edge in digs, Uiato with 7, Longo with 4.

  6. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:35 pm

Really impressed with how Uiato is playing tonight. Seems like everyone is back on their game. Think we sometimes forget that Taylor is just a freshman. She is 5-1-8. UH up 7-2 in Set 2. TO CP.

  7. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:40 pm

Adolpho has nice hands for a ‘big girl.’ Did a very nice back set. UH up 12-6

  8. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:42 pm

Hartong from the left didn’t even leave her feet. hit sharp angle cross court. Taylor with her 6th kill. it’s 14-7

  9. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:44 pm

Nice solo stuff by Manu-Olevao on the slide by cal poly. 17-9

  10. Hot October 12, 2013 7:46 pm

Is it an option to play Taylor on the left and let Goodman be the opposite? Manu-Olevao and Kastl are interchangeable, both extremely error-prone.

  11. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:51 pm

Hartong with an ace, Taylor with her 7th kill. UH wins 25-16.

Anyone know why kawamura doesn’t play/serve anymore?

  13. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 7:57 pm

    10. it is an option.

Cindy who does the stats for UH?

  16. Hot October 12, 2013 8:03 pm

Is Lelepali playing Kawamura’s role? Kawamura needs to cut down on her errors. Hopefully, Shoji doesn’t let Long serve. I’d like to see her attack from the back row, but keep her away from the service line.

  17. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:07 pm

    15. They have a stat crew that uses a computer stat program. not always the same people doing stats every night tho.
Hartong with another ace, her second of this serving rotation. UH up 7-2

  18. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:11 pm

Mustangs stuck in a bad rotation. Hartong still serving (8-0) it’s 12-2. TO Cal Poly.

  19. Volleyball fan October 12, 2013 8:13 pm

I thought I wasn’t going to comment tonight but now I feel compelled to. I was thinking too bad Cal Poly didn’t come last night instead when Hawaii didn’t have much energy. They could have still beaten them. Tonight with their energy they would have been far more competitive with Santa Barbara. This time Shoji didn’t have the order right unlike the first week with Texas.

  20. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:18 pm

Shoji did not make the Big West schedule. He only agreed on the playing dates.

  21. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:18 pm

Kastl in. Vorster just set Uiato much to the crowd’s approval. it’s 20-9.

  22. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:19 pm

    tickets 7314, turnstile 5659

  23. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:19 pm

Long in on the right. 22-10

  24. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:21 pm

Higgins in, Hartong & Uitao out. Ponce serves long. it’s 23-12

  25. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:21 pm

Kastl with the kill. it’s 24-13

  26. Cindy Luis October 12, 2013 8:22 pm

Mustangs can’t return the ball. 25-13. Be back later

  27. Hot October 12, 2013 8:38 pm

The defensive specialists need to keep their serve in. Kawamura, Ponce, Mendoza. Long had a nice night. 1 kill, 1 ace, 1 dig

  28. LanaiBoy October 12, 2013 8:54 pm

I think Lelepali is the designated server now. She hasn’t made any service error in a long time and that is why she is in. Cal Poly did not present much a block tonight. Shorter than UCSB and less athleticism (they don’t jump too high). Hartong was extremely sharp with her serves tonight. Got lots of aces and caused Cal Poly lots of problems in passing. Vorster returned to form and had a nice night hitting-wise.

  29. Kazu October 12, 2013 8:57 pm

I like their uniforms. How about that kill Uiato had when Vorster set her. Shoji must not have been in a good mood, his Dodgers lost again today.

  30. Hot October 12, 2013 11:31 pm

So Lelepali is sharing the middle server role with Kawamura? And Long, who used to share the spot with Kawamura, is now splitting time with Mendoza as the right side back row sub?
