Volleyball will be joined in progress after the World Series game on 1420-AM
Some pregame observations
Mitchem isn’t participating other than to throw out balls during warmups. Isn’t wearing a protective wrap as she has been.
Higgins has her wright hand taped, not sure what that’s about.

Sorry for you folks who weren’t here. Manu-Olevao sang the national anthem and Hawaii Pono’i. It was a surprise. Don’t think the team even knew.
She had said when I interviewed her last week that she didn’t know if she’d have the voice since she yells so much during a match.
Starting same group as Friday, Higgins, Magill, Manu-Olevao, Greeley, Taylor, Kahakai and Maglio.
Tai did an excellent job sjnging. My favorite this year.
Ace by Kahakai makes it 15-9. TO Titans
Fullerton overpass on Taylor’s serve put down by Greeley. It’s 17-10. TO Titans
Hope this win is a nice clean one, and Wahine won’t run out of gas after the 2nd set…
Magill with a block makes it 21-13. TO Titans. Magill had 3 touches on the same play, kill attempt on an overpass, dug, blocked a shot, it was dug, third time stuff.
Maglio in a a block, ends it 25-17.
Tai really digging well tonight.
8. she’s been credited with 1 dig. you might be thinking of her on serve-receive. where she has 5
Higgins doing a really nice job.
Taylor with the kill It’s 11-6. TO Titans
Nikki looks like shes hurting. Theyve got a long 6 matches ahead of them on the road, Shoji should sit her out. The Wahine is playing efficiently, but the dings, they continue to struggle with.
No e white out crowd to honor the seniors and team. Maybe best attendance this year??
UH up 18-13. TO Titans
BTW, Koelsch in. just teamed with Maglio for a block
Uh wins Set 2 25-18
Magill 5-0-10, Manu-Olevao 6-0-7, Greeley 5-1-12, Maglio 7-1-10, Taylor 4-4-16.
I wonder if we’ll see the same lineup to start the 3rd set? At some point, Castillo will need to have some reps at middle.
halftime entertainment Warrior men. don’t know what you call it. Kill-off? Fey wins over Franciskovic
Starting lineup for Set 3. No chang. would not be surprised if he does puts people in to sub for the seniors to give them a standing 0
I understand wanting to use other players after two easy sets, but like one blogger suggested the other night, I think Shoji should leave the starters in to build team chemistry…
3 aces by Taylor makes it 6-3. TO Titans
UH up 16-12. TO Titans
Magill ends it on the slide 25-21
Im pretty sure Kanoa just insulted student athletes. Geez
Wahine played good. Aloha and fair sailing to Tai Manu-Olevao and Olivia Magill.
Great senior night festivities. Manu-Olevao’s family doing a haha.
Blogging from the Stanley, let’s see if I can get through this. Incredible night for #9 Olivia Magill and #10 Tai Manu-Olevao. Incredible slide show at the end of the senior night festivities. Very thoughtful that Cal-State Fullerton stayed for the entire Senior Night Festivities. Good Luck University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team for your 6 road matches and we hope u win The National Championship !!!
it was a great senior night. Opposing team usually stays unless they have a flight to catch. Fullerton coach said it was incredible and this is what her program aspires to.
As heart warming as it was to have TMO sing the anthem (beautifully), and all the rest of the pageantry of senior night, I was disappointed in the lack of progress we have made over the last several weeks. Higgins is still back at square one and our star, Nikki seems to lose concentration. We need her to be our super-star every game. Both left sides, both middles and our libero are playing well enough for us to win it all if Nikki and our setting improves. If we can beat LBS at the Pyramid then we can beat any of the rest of the teams left on the schedule.
Refs seem to call the Wahine for net contact every match (this is not FIVB). Conversely, the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel defines “Net Contact Rule” as: “Beginning in the 2014 season, a player will not be called for a violation if she touches the net, ropes or post outside of the antennae as long as it doesn’t interfere with play or is used as a means of support while playing the ball.” UH should carry the rule-book with them (to show the refs).
31. I agree COMPLETELY…these refs have no consistent interpretation of net play. Why is it that we have a net cam, but replay challenges haven’t been enstated yet? If it doesn’t happen in 2016, I might not watch NCAA volleyball anymore.
30. the last two matches weren’t great, they were off for 12 days so little progress to be made there. the previous matches they had a patch-work lineup. hard to get a consistent rhythm in that case.
Don’t think Taylor has lost focus but she isn’t playing at 100 percent.
31. the issue with net cams is not every school has then. until they all do, they won’t do challenges.
I think it was a great senior night. Tai singing the national anthem was a highlight, she looked so nervous and started a little shaky but after that she was great, her voice is really quite beautiful I even got teary eyed.
Hopefully the wahine play their A game in Long Beach friday and sweep the beach.
So just looked at volleytlak and saw some bummer news about the warriors. Patrick Gasman out for the season?? say it isn’t so. That is horrible news for Charlie and the team.
Responding to a comment on the last thread, think Wahine volleyball has a lot more upside potential for producing revenues. When you get to the regionals, tv coverage, etc., when you factor in the multiplier effect, it can be huge for the athletic program.
technical stuff aside , it was a beautiful Senior Night for Olivia and Tai . Big Mahalo to the team and coaches and prayers for a great road success! Thanks to Chris and Kanoa for technicals and color (sometimes , too much, though) and really , really hope to see The Wahine play at the S.S.C. again ( 2015). Thank you Cindy for all of your work and still believe (TEAM HAWAII) will bring home a National Champion-ship! GO BOWS!
Fair winds and smooth sailing to Tai and Olivia after their career as a Wahine is over. A pleasant surprise that Tai sang the National Anthem and Hawai’i Pono’i…what a great voice. But their work isn’t over. Much luck on your six game road trip, ladies. I’m glad to hear that the Warrior volleyball team will be at the Pyramid on Friday to lend their support.
LET’S GO BOWS.

It looked to me like Kahakai was practicing line-drive serves vs CSF. I’m glad someone else recognized how effective that type of serves from UCI and UCR were against us.
+1, Ron 30 and blunite 31.
