Wow amazing win. Finally got that monkey off their back!

11. My bad, I just realized the third fligt is not Schrieber and Tucker, sorry/.
Saw T and T against LMU. First game was bad. I think they still need to develop their chemistry. Taylor got blocked a number of times by smaller players. They of course recovered and won two matches, and I look forward to them being very formidable.
Saw Urban and Speiler against Pepper. Urban looked good at the net, better than I remember her being. Speiler was all over the place as usual.
Spare a thought for Pepp though. They played consecutive matches.
Scott Wong was there hanging around the UH tent.
My mistake too: flight 4 clinched.
Glad Schrieber and Tucker came up big against Pepp after being the only flight to lose against LMU.
Congrats to UH sand bows! I suspect Nikki and Tiegs will develop their chemistry and be AMAZING
Any reason why Chow/Boyan didn’t play? Hope not because of injury.
i think Tiegs and Taylor just need a little more game together. They can only get better. Saw the match against LMU but not against Pepp. But i knew when i left that they can pull out an upset againts Pepperdine. Go ‘Bows!
IMO both Brit Tiegs and Nikki Taylor have the potential to make the olympics for beach Volleyball in the future.
15. I would say give them a break. It was their first match and that combo didn’t have much practice time with Tiegs out sick and Taylor injured.
Didn’t see Wong.
17. And i’d say the same thing about Schreiber and Tucker. Give them a break Schreiber had also missed practice with illness.
Both of their matches went 3. Win some, lose some. The key against Pepperdine was tough serving giving them a 7-1 lead.
19. they only use 5 pairs . so no Chow and Boyan. All schools adding pairs for the tournament that began at 130.
Guinasso and Anderson may end up redshirting for sand.
21. I don’t know about that. certainly not for 2016. it would require qualifying points and no way Taylor can do that while plaint indoor for two more seasons.
Thanks for all the help. Very hard to update via phone. and spell correctly
23. Of course not 2016 and I don’t think Warriorfan meant that. Maybe 2020 if the pair can steadily improve. It will be the post Kerri-Walsh-Jennings era as she’ll be too old by then.
Definitely could see Tiegs in 2020 depending on who her partner will be.
Taylor in 2024 and beyond, that is if she goes the beach route instead of indoor professionally.
This was a big win for UH. only the third loss Pepperdine has had in four seasons. Waves are now 53-3 in duals all time.
Think I mentioned UH hadn’t taken a point in five meetings with Pepperdine.
I was impressed with how much the skill level has gone up in just one year. There were a lot of good volleyball players playing today.

new thread up for the men’s match with the Waves.
Leaving this one open for sand discussion.
18. Ron, agree. the weather also a factor. light wind, cooler and pleasant. sometimes hot and muggy not a good combo and is very tiring.
UH still doesn’t have a story on the matches today on their site, not sure why.
30. because their SID was still at the beach for the pool play. All we got were scores
Pepperdine advanced four pairs out of the six pools, UH and LMU 1 each

Wow tiegs and taylor aren’t in contention for gold tomorrow? Must have had an off match.
So are Maglio and some others not playing substitutes ?
Maybe Maglio will redshirt since lots of experienced players ahead of her.
33. don’t understand your question.
They can only use 5 pairs for the duals.
the pairs tourney uses 6. UH roster has 17 players. Someone has to sit out
As mentioned earlier Guinasso and Anderson may redshirt.
Hall had said that he’d like to redshirt Maglio, who is currently paired with Anderson.
Finally averill gets set, he needs many more.
UH looks lethargic this set.
35. That answers my question. I’m not an expert on sand volleyball, nor not much else. I had thought that since Maglio was playing so well in practice or something, that we would see her in the lineups. I guess the non -redshirting players that are not in the lineups would be subs in case of injuries, etc. ?
37. not necessarily. it’s still early. they may bring in other pairs down the road.
Maglio was playing well in practice but she isn’t that experienced. They weren’t going to use her in these matches.
36. Sorry posted in wrong place.
I meant to ask earlier, who is the new assistant coach?
Haven’t officially hired one. Still getting the paperwork done.
But I believe it will be Evan Silberstein.
