Dang….got to be a head scratcher with this Stanford team. With such top level players like Presho, Jasper and Beatty, they should be contending for a title yearly.

Just to show you that having a collection of great players doesn’t always make for a great team. There is team chemistry. There is good coaching. There is the ability of the team to overcome adversity.

I guess that’s why there is that “Grow the Game” slogan for men’s volleyball.

You can see the difference with Stanford than what we’ve seen from them in 2017. They lost not only their best talent in 7’0″ Rakestraw, they lost Ewert, Vega, and Evan Enriques in the process. The difficulty with John Kosty is the way they need to adapt to the scenario with a different set of players. UCLA, BYU, and Pepperdine are top dogs of the MPSF, and his team needs to come together. Sure, Jasper, Presho and Beatty are around, but the others surrounding him like Henken, Moye, and Bischoff need to start turning up the volume. However, Hawaii needs to be cautious with the Cardinal. This is a team that they haven’t beat on the road since 2012. That being said, we need to still watch our backs because the #1 spot could easily be taken down with force by a much tougher team. Hopefully, we can protect our rank.

    new thread up for Thursday
    3. St. Francis has been around for a while in the EIVA
    4. to say they haven’t beaten Stanford there since 2012 you have to consider that Hawaii has only played there four times since then, losing both in 2014 and 2016.
