  2. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 6:52 pm

No Sky Williams tonight. Not cleared Left ankle in a boot.

  3. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 6:54 pm

    1. UCR assistant Lisa Westlake was Shoji’s assistant in mid 80s. didn’t realize that she was UCR head coach Michelle Patton-Coleman’s sister.

Re: the pipe set. It may be a part of the offense, but they don’t run it often. It has only appeared to be a out of system play this season.

  5. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:04 pm

Kamalei Krug getting her first start. Ah Mow-Santos said that Krug has been the best blocker in practice.

  6. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:19 pm

Krug hits a heavy ball. Makes 15-14 at the TTO

  7. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:20 pm

Wahine are trying a couple of new things tonight. Burns is the middle serving, not Krug; usually it’s Liva. Burns ran an inside slide, Gaskin continues to work on that as well.

  8. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:22 pm

Kill by Krug makes it 17-14. TO UCR

  9. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:23 pm

    4. the point was the Granato is a 6-rotation player and in certain rotations she is the only offense in the back row with a DS and L.

  10. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:25 pm

Krug with the service overpass, Iosia aces the UCR libero. it’s 20-14. TO UCR

  11. ballerz September 29, 2018 7:27 pm

thats how a middle puts away an overset…krug.🤙

  12. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:29 pm

    Castillo ends it 25-15.

  13. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:35 pm

    UH up 4-0. TO UCR

  14. HawaiiMongoose September 29, 2018 7:37 pm

Krug does hit a heavy ball, hope to see a lot more of that.

  15. ballerz September 29, 2018 7:38 pm

cindy how has castaneda been doing in practice? she hits a good ball during warmups.

  16. Ki September 29, 2018 7:38 pm

Is it true that Maglio will be returning for her last season of Beach?

  17. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:44 pm

UCRI challenging whether Doyle’s attack was in or out.

  18. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:45 pm

Call stands. UH up 11-8. Krug to serve

  19. ballerz September 29, 2018 7:49 pm

    nice overset for burns.

  20. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:50 pm

UCR into the net, it’s 18-10. TO Highlanders.

  21. ballerz September 29, 2018 7:54 pm

looks like castaneda is in the on deck circle

  22. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 7:56 pm

Casteneda in, along with Krug in front row. some sloppiness. It’s 21-15. TO UH

  23. HawaiiMongoose September 29, 2018 7:57 pm

Ugly second set with both teams hitting negative.

  24. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:01 pm

    Gaskin ends it 25-19.

  25. ballerz September 29, 2018 8:01 pm

that was a quick hook for castaneda. hope she gets another try. shake off the tension.

  26. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:04 pm

    25. think to much inexperience in that rotation.

  27. HawaiiMongoose September 29, 2018 8:05 pm

Too bad Castaneda didn’t get a decent set during the short time she was in. Kind of hard for her to show what she can do when the ball isn’t in position for her to take a clean swing at it.

  28. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:05 pm

    15. Castaneda looks fine in practice, as does everyone. Doesn’t always translate to being under the lights.

  29. ballerz September 29, 2018 8:11 pm

    thanks cindy for the clarity.

  30. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:15 pm

Hawaii lost challenge when asking for touch on Castillo’s attack. it’s 7-7

  31. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:18 pm

Ma’afala with the ace. it’s 13-9. TO UCR

  32. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:22 pm

Granato with 2 straight aces and it’s 17-10. TO UCR.

  33. Cindy Luis September 29, 2018 8:31 pm

    Hawaii wins 25-17.

  34. warriorwahine September 29, 2018 8:35 pm

that block set, kill all-in-one by natasha is something na wahine needs to pull out more especially versus tougher competition.

  35. warriorwahine September 29, 2018 8:50 pm

keys to the upcoming road trip….

    no red eyes.

    isnt that right cindy?

  36. Bleachercoach September 29, 2018 9:46 pm

Grateful to be 4-0 with that huge comeback win at UC Irvine last weekend. IMO; Keys to this road trip is to stop arguably the best single athlete/volleyball player in the BW, Lindsey Ruddins, of UCSB and then the Dynamic Duo of the Van Winden sisters of Cal Poly…If we can limit our errors and convert on offense consistently IMO we possibly could take UCSB in 4 and try to challenge Cal Poly to a 5th set…After witnessing UCLA get dismantled twice in 4 by Cal Poly, our Rainbows have their work cut out for them. They will have to play their best volleyball of the year to win both matches on the road. It would be so wonderful if our girls pull a big win at UCSB and huge upset over Poly and return home 6-0. I know its a long shot but any thing can happen on any given day

  37. warriorwahine September 29, 2018 10:17 pm

    36. given that na wahines serving is decent, they should be able to serve the van windens to disrupt their game just like ucla did last year

  38. Bleachercoach September 29, 2018 10:50 pm

    36 That would be awesome

  39. H-Man September 30, 2018 1:06 am

Besides all the other adjustments (i.e. Krug at middle), I thought a big difference in the Riverside match was the Wahine’s serving. It really disrupted Riverside; kept them out of system.

  40. menehune September 30, 2018 2:48 am

Without a doubt, Lindsey Ruddins is the best player in the conference and a sure AA. If our servers can serve tough and keep UCSB out of system, we stand a good chance of upsetting them.

And the Van Winden sisters from Cal Poly should ALWAYS have a blocker mirror their every move when they’re in the front row; Natasha and Kamalei are good enough to take care of the middle.

Winning one of two on the Wahine next road trip would be huge; two would be gigantic.

    GO BOWS.

  41. rabbit ears September 30, 2018 5:01 pm

Congrats to the wahines, 4-0 in conference. The rubber hits the road this weekend. As coach Shoji said, their mind should only be on Santa Barbara.
#40 disagree with your comment. T. VIn WInden is the class of the BW. She reminds me of Nikki Taylor. Ruddins is good though.

  42. H-Man September 30, 2018 5:39 pm

Kudos to the UH staff for the great job managing the parking and traffic. Really nice crowd at the SSC. Great bento from the Okuhara food stand. Lots of families in attendance. SSC great atmosphere.

  43. Sheila September 30, 2018 5:45 pm

Even setting-distribution was the key for last WIN. Both Granato & Burn typically get closely guarded by best blockers and opened the door for set distribution for other hitters. End result was higher % kills for most hitters as well as for Granato. Wahines can not afford a single service error in next two games. Remember, service home run like baseball or making into net like in basketball gives points to opponent even without any opportunity to defend (which is wahines top strength). Therefore, keeping service errors zero is primary goal although serving tough is important. I think wahines and coaching staff are doing an excellent job improving the team very steadily!

playing reserves versus two BW (UCF and UCR) bottom dwellers was very , very good experience for newbies. I commend RAMS for that , but think Trinity and Kirsten deserved , at least one rotation to warm-up! Also , giving others back row experience (offense/defense)would , also be essential. Okay , big weekend coming (but as coach Dave stated ) team must zero in versus UCSB. From watching UCLA games on PAC12 channel , I believe Cal Poly beat a decent , but not really good UCLA team. If Wahine can play with fire , and cut down unforced errors , they could beat the Mustangs!!! To servers , please stay OUT of the NET!!! To the WAHINE and all fans——-IMUA , GO BOWS!!!
