Karl Lorch memorial is this Saturday

I’m in Greenbelt, Md., today, and thinking of a great athlete from Hawaii who made his mark here in the Washington, D.C. area as a professional.

Karl Lorch played defensive line for the Washington NFL team from 1976 to 1981.

Many of you know K.P. passed away in late September at age 63, after a long battle with cancer.

A memorial service has been set for this Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Kamehameha School Chapel, from noon to 4 p.m.

KP Lorch was my dear cousin. When we were small we shared many adventures and some sad times with our parents and siblings. KP and my brother Bo with me and my little cousin, Georgie riding on the backs of horses (we held onto our big brothers for dear life), his sisters, Yvonne and Pliedes, the green of the plant life, the red dust, the warm air..these things are still the background of my dreams. This is how we will live in heaven. A short “Aloha”, dear cousin. In no time we will see each other again.
