Back to school

After a moderately successful — but injury-filled — career in the NFL, Kealoha Pilares is back in school and working toward completing a degree.

In the meantime, Pilares is helping to train football players and teach holistic methods to prevent injuries. Each morning, Pilares helps former UH wideout Keelan Ewaliko prepare for UH’s pro day.

Tomorrow UH is holding walk-on tryouts. Keep an eye on this speedy slotback — Trey Larsen, an HBA graduate who played at Pac-Five. Larsen is in his second year as a UH student.

When not serving his country as a specialist with the Hawaii Army National Guard, KK Padello is hybrid rush end for the Warriors.

    Good afternoon, Tsaikos!

    GO WARRIORS !!!\

KK and Kaimana Padello are both awesome guys, on and off the field. I hear so many great comments of these two from current and former players. Won’t be surprised if both end up getting scholies before their careers end.

Dang, I probably wouldn’t have recognized Kealoha if I bumped into him away from a UH event. Looks like a young Cecilio

“holistic methods to prevent injuries.” More like marijuana, ‘mon!

  6. Inyoface March 6, 2018 1:01 pm

Kealoha is a long ways away from those designer haircuts he had playing for UH.

  7. Bowwar March 6, 2018 1:03 pm

KP surely looks different from his UH & Damien days. I didn’t he didn’t finish his degree at UH…Smart Guy, he once wanted to be a pilot. Wish him well…

  8. Bowwar March 6, 2018 1:04 pm

    Opps..didn’t know…

  9. Da Punchbowl Kid March 6, 2018 2:22 pm

Kealoha always seemed like a deep thinker. His “holistic” approach to sports injuries doesn’t surprise me.

    Good luck to the walk-ons!

    Trey Larsen:

his “time clock” began when he enrolled at UH 2 years ago? or, will he have 3 years to play?

da rules — so many, no can keep track!

  11. A-House March 6, 2018 2:32 pm

i would have never recognized Kealoha with his full facial hair and near “okole touching” hair

    his facial features have matured

Is Trey’s father, Greg? if so, Greg played in the early 80s,,as a walk-on from Pac 5, and eventually was awarded a scholarship.

islandman: How much did the sudden departure of Olivia Crawford affect the team? A lot, a little, no difference? I am so disappointed.

    RE: #13

    A lot. Smh

    13. She could have helped on the depth at point guard quite a bit.
Get them next season, though they will miss Sarah a lot.
They need more shooters like the men.
Did you already state that former Wahine Huff made the Pac-12 All Conference 1st team ?
The shortest guy, 5-9, in all of the Big West men’s 1st, 2nd and HM players was named the Big West Player of the Year and his name is TJ Shorts II. Came from the same JC as AC Carter.

#13: Crawford’s departure was a huge loss, but maybe not as big as losing Darren Larson.

I feel like a broken record, but during Huff’s last season, I simply could not fathom why she was coming off the bench.

Somebody from this blog compared her game to Bill Walton. I didn’t think it was a crazy statement at all.

No, I did not know she was named to the First Team. I am not surprised. She made the right decision. I have no animosity about her leaving.

When Coach Beeman brought in the transfer from Delaware, I wonder if Huff was worried about playing time.

I am rooting for everybody to succeed, but the only returning player who seems to be moderately talented is Julissa Tago.

I also like Kanoa; she plays hard. The team needs shooters so she doesn’t have to.

I hope I don’t sound too critical. I care very deeply about this program.

Toeaina’s late turnover couldn’t be helped.

She’s probably exhausted from carrying this team all season long.

Shamberger stepping on the end line in the Big West tournament. That’s another matter altogether.

    Can’t live in the past.

What were the reasons that M Huff and OC leave ? rumblings?

  20. Maddog50 March 7, 2018 11:51 am

Spring practice almost upon us Wednesday Mar 21-new staff new look-if you ain’t excited you soon will be. After a 7-7 and all the crap that came with 3-9 I fully expect energy and excitement. Spring won’t even be close to fall camp but look for player development and new energy-GoWarriors!!!
